Today, at the end of the first day of AKB48 in TOKYO DOME ~1830m of Dreams~, the live that the group has long desired, it was announced that AKB48 will be releasing their next single on October 31st, 2012.

Following Gingham Check, this will be AKB48's 28th single. The new single, titled [Kakkoii] (meaning "Cool"), will be of the same style and image of past singles like RIVER, Beginner, and Kaze wa Fuiteiru, and at the same time pushing the frontiers of AKB's music.
The single will come in Type A, Type B and Type C, all three sharing the same title track and a common coupling song, and one more song that will be different for each type. Including off-vocal versions, each type will have 6 tracks, and a DVD included that will contain music videos for the 3 songs and a bonus video.
As usual, each copy of the first press limited edition will come with 1 of 2 handshake event tickets, and the regular edition will come with a random photo. In addition, both limited and regular additions will come with a voting ticket for Request Hour Set List Best 100 2013 for a limited time period.
I think under-performing sales for the 27th Single - "Gingham Check" may have factored into AKS/KingRecords going for a Type C - a first for AKB48 single.

My first impressions of the new song is that I like it since the center pairing has the 2 best dancers from the group (in my humble opinion) and one of them is Jurina
I have to admit I am a little disappointed that not a single member of DiVA since this sort of song is right up their street I can understand why Sae wasn't included, with the uncertainty of going to China, but I really wanted to see Sayaka or Ume-chan in there, especially Ume-chan and her awesome dancing.
However I think I'm going to be keeping an eye on Paruru in this single since most of the top members have been able to pull off the dark image as well as having the more generic idol image, I don't think she's had the chance to show that until now.

To be honest, I was conflicted between KojiHaru and her being another person (I was actually tried to count how many members had their hair tied, and going through the process of elimination but...), but the video I had was at a standard where you could see the video fairly well, but you couldn't see it very clearly. But being unable to see any other video the one I was supplied with (by the time I saw the videos posted here, it was too late. *sigh*), I guess it's normal? Mn? No? Ohwell... The difference between 1st round and later rounds is you can order only 3 tickets per order in 1st round while you can order as much as you want but no more than 3 tickets of same blocks in later rounds. So the number of sold out block in this round is much more than 1st round.

Oh my lord, I really need to either update my laptop or get a new one because a lot of the sites I used to use to AKB videos are not working as well. Vimeo doesn't seem to work for me anymore when it was working just last month (Or rather August, but the October feel hasn't kicked in yet). It was a miracle that Youku worked for me twice today and then after that, nothing. In August, I also found something called YoukuAV which was working for me 100%, and up until recently it hasn't been working at all. I can't download anything on this laptop, and I'm not even sure if YinYueTai is working for me or not, or if the video content was taken down.Youtube doesn't work? AKB48’s ‘UZA glasses’ distributed in three cities

To commemorate the release of their new single, “UZA“, AKB48’s “UZA glasses” were distributed in Shibuya (Tokyo), Namba (Osaka), and Sakae (Nagoya) on October 27th.
These glasses were made of paper in the image of Halloween pumpkins, and were distributed to pedestrians by women dressed in Halloween costumes. At first the passersby looked at the women out of curiosity, but when they found out that this was a promotional novelty for AKB48’s new single, they began to gather one after another. The 20,000 “UZA glasses” that were prepared for distribution were gone in the blink of an eye.

I remember when we were ecstatic when 10Nen Zakura broke 100K after a couple of weeks!

Yeah, It's just the worst 1st week sale since NMB48 were included in theatre version HS tickets sales(they did since Ebikatsu), and this single had tons of promotion, national HS event ticket and request hour voting ticket.
But as long as they had 200girls to sell CD with individual handshake ticket which guarantee at least 700k CD sales 1st day, a million sale is pretty easy and we had nothing to worry about..
I wonder if sales will even reach 1.1 million :smhid

Last week, AKB48 released their 28th single “UZA,” and Oricon announced today that it sold roughly 1,129,000 copies in its first week. This gives AKB48 their 15th consecutive #1 single, but more importantly, it also marks their 10th million-selling single (9th consecutive). They are the first female artist to achieve 10 million-selling singles, and the first artist to do so in almost 14 years.
AKB48 is only the third artist to achieve 10-million sellers, after B'z (currently with 15) and Mr.Children (currently with 10). In terms of consecutive million-sellers, they were already in second place before this, behind B’z (13) and ahead of Mr.Children (8).
Since their major-label debut in February 2006, AKB48 has released 29 singles (1 digital-only) and 11 albums. In total, the group has now sold approximately 17,597,000 CD singles and 2,703,000 CD albums, for a grand total of 20,300,000 CDs. Among female groups, they have now pulled past SPEED (19,546,000 CDs) to become the #1 all-time top seller.
