The 2012 calendars have gone on sale and that can only mean one thing... Time to start anticipating the 2013 calendars!
Let's hope they ditch the lame 30x30 calendars from this year and come out with some proper B2 sized ones again!

i don't want hear some details until the packages come out but its quite controversial and generated a lot of buzz in many fansite forums.

HMV just listed a whole bunch of individual member calendars for 2013. There are two types this time - B2 size calendar and desk calendar. It would appear that only the top members get their own B2 calendar while everyone (incl. the top members) gets a desk calendar.

Finally! Really happy we're getting B2 again!
FYI, the 2011 Desktop calendars were sized at 15×21 cm which is really tiny.

Why aren't people raving about the little previews?! XD
Random thoughts:
- Takamina has been looking super cute lately. She pwns the other No Sleeves members
- Kasai's on the top of my "I might buy this" list followed by Yokoyama.
To me, a good calendar photo involves:
1. Eyes looking at the camera. If not, it's either too artsy or boring. These pages have to remain interesting for two months! Miichan's the only one who doesn't have this based on the preview pics.
2. Mouth open, preferably showing teeth. This is the most natural and heartfelt look. Only five of them have this.
3. Less important than the first two points, but it can make or break a good photo: setting. It has to suit the girl and not feel forced. Prime examples of a bad setting are last year's Rena calendar where she plays basketball and golf.
4. All the technical stuff like proper lighting, color and being in focus, etc.

Good thing they stopped the Tokyo date ones, was severely dissapointted with my Tomochin and Yuka ones....expensive cardboard crap :thumbdown:

I'll quite possibly grab both Tomos' calendars like I did in 2010. But I'm also hoping for Sayanee and Milky solo calendars.
Also, there might be another NMB48 weekly calendar.

The 2011 Mayuyu calendar was honestly my best purchase that year, making me happy all year-round.
But this time I'm totally gonna go for Kashiwagi's since she has one of her own at last. That cover face is gonna look huge! :w00t:
I'll also get the box. Last year's was pretty nice. Studio shots, but they didn't feel bland and had some good themes. Underwear shop collab FTW!!~ :P
Still cannot imagine how that paper-kami-pants thing can turn out good though. ;)
Too bad three calendars for one year is kinda overkill. If there was no Yukirin solo, I'd totally get Umechan's one. That preview pic sure is a beaut-y~ :heart:

This page http://manatsu.info/ (http://manatsu.info/) is compiling sales data from Amazon and Rakuten and ranking the girls, for both B2 and desktop calendars. Please note that the positions change all the time, so best to look at the graphs. Shimazaki is doing ridiculously well - steadily in the top 3 for desktop calendars.

Do the SKE calendars usually come out later than the AKB ones?

^ If the past years are any indication, then yes, an SKE calendar will probably be announced sometime in 2013 (they usually cover April to March)

Excellent, great insight into what the calendars will look like :thumbup
Quick comments on the ones I'd consider getting:
- Yui: looks super pretty. It seems to focus more on cute than sexy outfit-wise. The question remains whether Yui's stern looks can cheer me up and keep me entertained for an entire year.
- Kasai: dayum! She really plays to her strengths again. Super hot outfits, super cute face, various hairstyles. The only beef I have is that her hair color is too bright. It's even worse with the bright sun shining on her.

- Yuki: great mix of idol cuteness and sexy yuki-boobs. Sadly, Yuki just isn't doing it for me any more lately. Not sure why.
- Mayu: seeing Mayu's face will definitely cheer me up throughout the year. We even get a scent of sexy here and there to showcase her road to maturity. One downside is that her 'CG smile' seems overly prominent again.

In the end I probably won't buy a a calendar this year (unless an epic Rena one pops up?). However! They will also use these shoots for the new trading card collection, which seems like a must get! Overall the calendars are tons better than last year's :thumbup

Overall, not too exciting this year, except the lucky extra pics which was awesome.

Summary. Only a little disappointed by Nov-Dec, which I think they could've chose something better.
Can really feel the pure-idol theme of the shoot though. One thing to note is how all the pages have Yuki looking straight at you.
And with that smile of hers, the whole thing really has a nice healing factor all year round. It's the best calendar created by man and totally worth it. :thumbsup

Mayuyu looks a little stiff and I don't like the way her hair is styled. On the other hand, Yukirin has a really lovely pose and the pop of red against white makes the picture stand out.

Love both pics. Mayuyu shows off her youthful and adorable side as she prances around while Yukirin looks so relaxed and comfortable that I can imagine her sitting right in front of me XD

A tad disappointed with both pics. Mayuyu could have done more with the props for a more interesting/fun pose while Yukirin looks a little awkward and her clumpy hairstyle doesn't do her justice.

My birthday month and both girls look fantastic! However, Mayuyu wins this round for partially hiding behind the curtain, giving off bashful vibes which definitely bring the moe factor up one notch :heart:

And Yukirin strikes back with dynamic idol-esque poses! All white may be boring to some people but I personally love it when Yukirin (and Mayuyu) wears white so Yukirin scores points here! But darn, they just have to reuse the Jan-Feb look for Mayuyu. There's just something about her hairstyle that doesn't sit well with me. Thankfully, she looks more natural here compared to the first pic.

As winner said, this is not the most exciting shot for Yukirin to end the year with. It's actually really not bad but Mayuyu has a more interesting shot and she's wearing festive colours! Way to get fans in the mood for Christmas next year :thumbup
Final Verdict: Some hits and misses for both calendars. Although there are a variety of styles and clothes for the girls this year, I think Mayuyu's 2012 Tokyo Date calendar managed to capture her cute and playful side better and she seemed more at ease. Didn't get Yukirin's calendar last year so no comments on that.

I didn't realize the dates were so small(and they have 2 months per picture, less pictures :panic:). It's barely a calendar :lol:
My family would probably think I'm weird if I were to hang that up.

Two months per picture is pretty much standard for Japanese idol/anime calendars and the dates are tiny so as not to get in the way of the pictures (Who cares about the dates actually? :lol:)

My older idol calendars had 8 pages though. Cover, 6x two months and a bonus page. But I guess cutting one page x thousands of calendars saves a lot of money.

Yeah. Mayuyu's 2011 calendar also had 8 pages, with a bonus page for the last page.
Keeping it around cos it still has some of the best shots of Mayuyu. :oops:
