What the hell is wrong with American Law-maker, 10 years for privacy? Man, some people only get 10 years for raping and killing people. What were they smoking when they passed this through?

It's pretty silly.
That being said 10 years is the maximum sentence. Except in really extreme cases of professional pirates, I doubt we'll actually see anything remotely like that being imposed.

Ever read those dire FBI warnings at the start of every VHS video or DVD? It's nothing new.
