This series of OS, I dedicate to two of my friends, Yuuki and Miyu. I will update this continuously in 3 days, 3 parts of the OS. I hope you two can understand my message from this story.
30 days - The series of Mayuki - [Part 1]
30 days
It’s a long time for a family vacation or a pinic.
It’s a long time for a summer school or a school trip together with your friends.
But to me, 30 days are too short... It’s just too short... for a life time.
This is my first and last diary. A diary about my life in the last 30 days living in this world.
You may want to ask me why I waited until now, after 18 years of living, to write this?
Simply, it’s just because I have an udge to write this. I want to say to whoever keeps this diary after I’ve gone to the other side of the world, that there is always a meaning for your existence.
There will be always a reason for you to keep moving on.
And there will be always a person, who needs you, cares about you and loves you for their whole life.
To whoever is reading my diary, read my story and think about yourself.

Day 1
It was my first day of the short period of staying in the hospital. Since the time I was born, I already knew that my body was weak, or should I say, my heart was always weak. I carried a new kind of heart disease, a new disease with such a long name that I couldn’t and didn’t want to remember it. I’d been living with the pain in my chest. I’d gotten used to the disinfectant smell of hospital.
And I’d gotten used to this cold and cruel loneliness.
It wasn’t because of my condition that I was lonely. It was my own wish to be lonely.
I didn’t want anyone to know about my health condition beside from my family. I didn’t want anyone, especially you, to worry about me. And most of all, I didn’t want to see anyone crying for me.
I just hated tears so much that I rarely cried or saw someone cry in front of me. That was why I received my nickname, Cyborg Girl.
Since the time I was young, I didn’t have many friends. I wasn’t a social girl and definitely, no one wanted to play with someone as sick as I was. I was a loner until my first year of high school started.
When I was writing these words, someone came to visit me and to my surprise, it was you.
You, the most beautiful and kind girl that I’d ever met in this world, were standing at the door and smiled to me. Maybe you are thinking that I would like to meet you. But little did you know, seeing your sweet and innocent smile right now, it’s my least wanting thing to see.
“Good morning Mayuyu.” You greeted me and sat down ont he chair placed next to my bed. I just gave you a light nod and focused back on writing this diary. Not even need to raise my head, I knew for sure that you were pouting at my coldness.
“Mou, Mayuyu, you should stop being such a cold cyborg like that.”
“Because I am a cyborg so I don’t talk much.”
I shortly replied you. If it was someone else, I bet they would leave me for good. But it was you who were talking to me, I knew you would know I was playing around and pat my head. And indeed you did. You giggled at my reply and caressed my messy hair.
“Well, since this is your first day of leaving in this hospital, I think you need to look good. Let me do your hair.”
You said cheerfully and I just let her fix my hair. You would always have your smile on your face like nothing bad was happening.
“Hey Mayuyu, after you’ve been released from here, can we go to the hill you have told me?”
I heard your voice saying softly behind my back. Silence then took over the whole room. I couldn’t answer it. And I was so sure that you knew the answer already. Even I didn’t tell you but I knew, as being such a sensitive and smart girl as you, you have found out the truth about me. You knew that I would never leave this bed... until my time was ended.
“OK, done!” Suddenly, you exclaimed cheerfully, breaking the awkward silence between us. I felt you moved away from my back. Then you raise a mirror in front of me, asking my while your smile was blooming on your pinky lips.
“Mayuyu, what do you think about your hair now?”
I looked at myself in the mirror and wondered, Who is that in the mirror? Is it really me? Most of the time, I let my hair down and combined with my emotionless face, I looked colder than ice. But after what you have done, I just saw a cute doll with a twin pig-tail and a confusing face.
“Mayuyu, say something...” Your face became worried.
“Eh... Well... I don’t know what to say... It’s not me... I mean... I haven’t seen me like this before...”
“Yes and you look so cute. Just like a doll.” Once again, you gave me your sweetest smile.
Even everyone said that friends and companies will bring you joy and strength to go through your sorrow. But in my case, it’s the opposite. Seeing your smiles only hurts me more. Seeing you so carefree and optimistic even though you knew everything just makes my heart ache more.
“I’ll visit you anytime I can so I want to see your new hair style everytime I come here.”
“Why?” Consufed by your words, I asked you and received back an answer that made my face burn in embarrassment.
“Because, you look like a doll that I want to cuddle forever.”

Day 2
Today, you visit me again. While I’m writing this, you’re sitting beside me and cutting apples for me. You tried to look at what I read before, even used your unusual puppy eyes to beg me. But how can I let you read this when I’m about to write about you?
Your name is Kashiwagi Yuki, or most people call you as Yukirin. I first met you in my first year of high school. You were a new transfered student who received a lot of attention from other students when I was just a loner sitting in the corner with no friends. Just on the first day you came to this school, you have become popular among the students because of your beauty, charm and kindness. Compare to you, I’m nobody. I bet no one would ever regconise if one day, I suddenly disappeared and never came back.
I’m nobody... but a lone shadow...
But in the extraordinary fact, such an angel like you would ever notice someone lives in the darkness like me. When everyone avoids me, doesn’t care about my existence, you came and dragged me out of my dark corner. You neglect all the negative comments that people give you, or even bad rumours about us, you just keep talking to me and be my first and only friend.
Both of my nickname, Mayuyu and Cyborg, are given by you. You call me Cyborg because of my usual emotionless face and my cold attitude towards others. But you rarely call me by this name. Instead, you really enjoy calling the name of Mayuyu. I don’t know why you like that name so much. Whenever I asked you, you just smiled and said that because it fits me well and you like it. I guessed I would never receive a proper answer from you so I just gave up on asking you. It would be one of my questioning mysteries about you.
But do you know, my biggest question for you isn’t about the nicknames you give me? I’ve been wondering, maybe I’ll be always wondering, that why you would ever choose me over someone else, especially... someone is more special than me.

Day 3
Finally, I've improved my writing speed! Now I can write my diary as the same with talking to someone. Yahoo!
Today is Thursday and you’re late. Well, I don’t blame you for coming late when you have a test. I would be even happier if you didn’t come today. It’s not like that I don’t want to see you. It’s just I don’t want to see your tiring face and I don’t want to become your burden. I know you have to do chores at home, finish your homework and many things else to do. So why should you bother yourself to come here everyday?
“Mayuyu! Gome ne! I had to talk to my teacher after school so I’m late.” There you are, panting at the door but yet your smile never fades away.
“Don’t mind about that, Yukirin. I can wait forever since I can’t go anywhere else, you know. And you don’t have to come here when it’s too late in the evening.” I say to you softly.
“I’m not allowed to see my favorite cyborg, am I?” You pout again. Mou~ How can I ever resist your cute pout like that? Wait... Did I just wrote cute? Oh my god, I did... And please don’t be surprised about how I can write my diary while having a full conversation with Yukirin. Well, I’m a cyborg and basically a cyborg can do anything, right? So don’t ask me why.
“N-no... I mean... Y-yes! You’re allowed anytime...” See what you have done to me. I stutter! That never happened to me before.
“You know...” Suddenly, you say with a smirk on your face, which scares me a lot. How can I put it? Your smirk is just... too evil... “You’re very cute when you stutter, Mayuyu~”
“Mou! Y-Yukirin!” I can feel my face is burning again when you’re laughing at my reaction. Such a black person, indeed.
“Ahaha. Sorry but I couldn’t help it. Anyways, how are you today, Mayuyu?”
“Well, as usual. Nothing changes much.”
You sit down next to me and start our normal conversation. You know, I’ll never get bored of talking with you. I don’t know since when I have been addicted to your smiles and your sweet voice.
If I could only choose one thing to do, I would choose to protect your smiles. Even it would cost my own life, I would still choose your happiness over myself.
It’s just because... I’m no one... and you’re... someone... exists in this world.
You’re... someone... that deserves happiness more and I do.

Here is a new one-shot for Mayuki. I'm just being bored and didn't have inspiration to write my other stories so I made one one-shot to refresh my mind.
Destined Meeting [Part 1]
“Ne mama.”
“Hmmm?”
“Why do I not have a father?”
“.......”
This was what my daughter usually asked me. Everytime the question escaped her pinky lips, I found myself frozen and dumbfounded. To me, it was the hardest question in my life.
How could she have a father when I’m single and she’s my adopted daughter?
I, Doctor Watanabe Mayu, am specialised in cardiovascular diseases and one of the youngest and best doctor in Tokyo National Hospital. I’m only 24 and I’m already the head doctor of cardiovascular emergency room. Yes, I’m some kind of genius that graduated from medical school when I was 18 and become a successful doctor. I have been receiving many compliments, having many admirers and not a small number of jealous people. But I really don’t care about that matter. Although most people told me that I have a cute face and nice voice, I have never dated or liked anyone in my life.
I have never loved anyone beside myself and my lovely adopted daughter.
I first met her when I was 18 and I just got my job in Tokyo National Hospital. I was doing my job as usual when suddenly, a group of nursed were chatting outside my office. They were talking loud enough for me to hear the whole story. Recently, there was a car accident happened near the hospital, a newlywed couple was involved in the accident. The husband had died when the wife was still conscious. However, she was badly hurt and she could die soon. The worst thing was that she was pregnant, 9th month already. The doctor could only save one, either the mother or the baby.
In her very last moment in this world, using her last energy, she begged the doctor to save her baby.
Right after being born, the baby had became an orphan.
The nurses were discussing who would adopt the baby or they would just send it to the orphanage. When I heard the story, for the first time, my heart was shaken by the tragic destiny of the baby.
For the first time, I cared about my surroundings.
For the first time, I loved someone more than myself.
Without hesitation, I became a mother at the age that most people usually just start to think about their romantic life.
I named my daughter, Watanabe Jurina. The name isn’t my idea. It was the last wish from her biological mother. But in any case, I really love Jurina, with all my heart.
I will never make her sad. I will never let anyone or anything hurt her.
So currently, Jurina is 6 years old. She has grown up to be an energetic and handsome girl.
Why handsome? Well, she likes to have her hair short and with her pretty face, she looks like a chibi prince. She also gets herself lots of friends, mostly girls. Somehow, I’m afraid that she would become a player in the future when she starts developing a new habit, kissing. You have no idea how many times she has stolen my kisses.
If you ask me what is the most embarrassing thing happened in my life then I will answer that my daughter stole my first kiss.
So, I have a 6-year-old daughter; I’m 24 and I’m still single. I have no boyfriend, or girlfriend, and currently don’t have any crush. Being a famous person in the workplace but don’t have any experience of love before. Therefore, my relationship status has always been the most popular topic in the hospital. One of the bigges mouth among the chatter is my friend, as known as Oshiriko in our Oshiri Sisters group, Oshima Yuko. She is 5 years older than me and currently the head doctor of childcare room. She has a lovely wife, Kojima Haruna, who is also her nurse and assistance, and a 6-year-old daughter, Oshima Sae, who is best friend of Jurina. Yes, Sae is their biological daughter, thank to the new technology that allows a same gender couple to make babies. Even though Yuko’s married, she can’t get rid of her oshiri addiction. When I have Jurina, I hold back my love for oshiri but in Yuko’s case, I don’t think she has changed anything.
But do you know, thank to her and another person, my life has completely changed in a positive way?
One day, I was writing my reports in my office. But a few minutes later, I yelped out loud and jumped from my chair when I felt a hand squeezing my hips. I turned around and found a mischievous smile.
“Oshiriri-chan~”
“Yuko-san! Stop squeezing my oshiri and stop calling me that! We’re not young anymore!” I said when my cyborg face didn’t change at all. I’m called Cyborg Girl for many reasons, you know.
“Mou~ Mayuyu is not funny anymore.” I watched the girl pouted.
“I’ve never been funny and stop pouting already. You’re almost 30, for God’s sake.” I calmly fixed my hair and cloth then sat back down on my chair.
“Please don’t remind me about my age.”
“Yeah whatever. Why do you intrude my office without knocking anyway?”
“Oh right, I almost forgot. Takamina just assigned for you a new assistance so you may want to come to her office now.”
“Assistance? I don’t remember that i asked her for one.” I turned my chair around to look at Yuko.
“You didn’t but Takamina want to since she knows you’re quite lonely.” She smirked.
“She should know that I prefer to work alone.” I raised an eyebrow, showing my annoyance towards the news.
“Well... Everything has been done already... You should go see Takamina and complain, not me. I know nothing.”
“Fine...” I let out a sigh then dragged myself to the highest floor.
Takamina, or Takahashi Minami, is the director of our hospital. She takes care of everything in the hospital along with the vice director, also her wife, Maeda Atsuko. And this new assignment for me was also her idea. So, I went to their office, where I found the vice director sitting on the table, acting like she didn’t do anything while the midget director was blushing hard on her chair. Their cloth were all messy.
“Did I interrupt something?” I asked innocently.
“N-No.” Takamina coughed then quickly fixed her hair and cloth. “Mayuyu, what brings you here?”
“Your squirrel friend told me that you have assigned a new assistance for me, is it true?”
“Ah that. Yes it’s true. And aren’t you comfortable about that?”
“You know me.” I sighed. “Even though I prefer to work alone but if it’s done then I don’t want to bother you to change it again. But just make sure that person won’t become a burden to me.”
“Don’t worry. She’s one of the best student in medical school. She’ll become a great nurse and assistance of yours.”
“I hope so. Where si she?”
“Etou...” Takamina scratched her cheek. “She’s on her way.”
“Late on the first day of work. What a nice impression.” I said sarcastically.
“Sorry I’m late!!!”
Right after I finished my words, a voice cut me off and the door behind me was opened violently, making a loud thud on the wall. I turned around and saw a figure of a girl with her hands on her knees and panting for air.
“Oh good morning Kashiwagi-san.” The vice director greeted.
“Since we pardon the first time late of new employees so you don’t have to worry about that, Kashiwagi-san.” Takamina calmly continued. “But I hope it won’t happen again.”
“H-Hai. I’m sorry.” She breathlessly said. I bet she just ran all the way to here.
“Good. Now this is Doctor Watanabe Mayu. You’ll assist her from now on. And Mayuyu, meet your new assistance, Kashiwagi Yuki.”
In a moment, I thought my heart had forgotten how to beat.
When she finally looked up, I felt like my whole body had shut down. She has a smooth milky white skin, long black silky hair and a beautiful angelic face. Not to mention that she has a perfect model-like body and she is a head taller than me. Honestly, her beauty is breathtaking.
“Hello, my name is Kashiwagi Yuki. It’s my pleasure to work with you, Watanabe-san. Please take a good care of me.”
She smiled to me. The most beautiful smile I have ever seen. Once again, I felt my heart beating rapidly as if it was going to jump out of my chest. Somehow, I managed to keep calm.
I reached out to shake her hand, ignoring how soft and warm her hand is. I gave her a small smile before greeting back.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Kashiwagi-san.”
“OK. You two can move your introduction section to your office. We have work to do here.” Suddenly Atsuko interrupted with annoyed voice.
No need to tell me, I had already known what work she was talking about. And I definitely didn’t want to see it. So I excused myself and left their office as fast as I could along with Kashiwagi. I led her to my office, which soon became ours, and showed her everything.
“So, this is my office and from now on, it will be ours.”
She looked around in awe then turned to me.
“Your office is very cleaned and tidy, Watanabe-san.”
“Thank you. Doctors should stay neat and cleaned, shouldn’t they?”
“Indeed they should.”
I pointed to the table opposite mine, across the room.
“It’s your table. You can place your bag and other stuff there. And go change into your uniform. We have to work in any minutes.”
“OK.” I heard her footsteps on the floor but then it stopped, following by her sweet voice ringing in my ears. “Etou, can I ask you something, Watanabe-san?”
“Sure. What is it?”
“How old are you?”
“I’m 24.”
“Wow!” I watched her eyes and mouth opening widely in a shocking way. “You’re so young. And you’re already the head doctor in your course. I’m sorry if I offend you...” She bowed at me.
“No it’s fine. I got that a lot. Don’t worry. You looks young too. Do you mind if I ask you about your age?”
“Anou... I’m 27...”
“You sure looks a lot younger than your age, Kashiwagi-san.” I smiled.
“T-Thank you.” In a moment, I thought her cheek turned red. I must have mistaken it.
I smiled again then went to take my white coat. We were going to have a busy day together since it was Monday and hospital was always crowded on Monday.
“But being successful at such a young age... I’m very impressed. I think I start to admire you already, Watanabe-san.”
I didn’t reply her. In fact, I was trying my best to hide my crimson cheeks by acting like I was busy fixing my cloth and changed the topic into work.
Gosh my heart was beating so fast at that time.

It was two days after I met my new assistance. I and Kashiwagi were resting in our office after the last patient had left. It was a long day of work. I wondered why there were so many patients on Wednesday. At that time, I was sitting on my chair with Kashiwagi right next to me before the door was opened and a small figure jumped on my lap.
“Mayu-mama~”
Jurina exclaimed happily and rubbed her cheek on mine. I was surprised when I saw her here.
“Jurina? Aren’t you supposed to be at school now?”
“Our teacher was absent today so my class ended early.”
“How did you get here?”
“Auntie Yuko picked me up.”
I facepalmed mentally. I totally forgot that I was supposed to pick Jurina up early today but I got carried away by work.
“Gomen ne, jurina. I forgot to pick you up.”
“It’s fine. I know you’re busy so I don’t want to bother you.”
Jurina gave out her cute cat-like smile. I couldn’t help but giggled at the view. I rubbed our noses together and planted a kiss on her forehead.
“You’re such a good girl, Jurina. I’ll buy some ice cream for you on our way home, OK?”
“Yay~ Ice cream~”
Jurina exclaimed cheerfully then jumped off my laps. She noticed a third person in the room so she stared at that person and tugged my coat lightly.
“Mama, who is this?”
I looked up and caught Kashiwagi’s smile. I was about to answer her but unexpectedly, Kashiwagi leaned down. With a gentle smile on her face, she slowly took Jurina’s hand and patted her head.
“Hey there cutie, I’m Kashiwagi Yuki, your mama’s new friend. You can call me Yuki. Can I know your name?”
“Watanabe Jurina desu~” Jurina smiled again.
“What a pretty name! Nice to meet you, Jurina-chan.”
Even though she was smiling to Jurina, my heart was still losing its control when I saw that beautiful smile. I could say, my frozen heart for 24 years had finally melted.
“Hey Jurina! Let’s play hide and seek with me!!”
Sae popped her head into the room and called Jurina.
“OK! See you later, Auntie Yuki, Mayu-mama.”
“See you Jurina. Have fun.” Yuki replied gently when I just smiled and nodded at the little girl.
I watched the little girl disappeared behind the wooden door and heard a small thud from the closed rectangular object. I let out a sigh then turned back to finish my reports. But before I could pick up my pen, a voice ran in my ears again.
“She’s such a cute girl, isn’t she?”
I giggled at how naive Kashiwagi was. “You just haven’t seen her other side. Trust me, she is worse than her look.”
I heard her chuckling at my statement then she said something that really shocked me.
“You know, you look cuter and more beautiful when you smile, Watanabe-san.”
This definitely gave me a heart-attack. I didn’t expect her to say something like that. I swear I almost lost my self-control at that time if I didn’t act cold and ignore her words to hide my extremely red cheeks.
“Even though you’re young, you’re a good mother.” She continued.
“T-Thank you.” I said to her while hiding my face away from her gaze. I bet I could win the highest price for the reddest tomato in the world.

Three months had passed. I started to think that having an assistance wasn’t so bad at all, especially when I had such a good one like Yuki. We started to call each other by our first names two months ago and of course Yuki suggested that. I didn’t mind about that. Instead, I loved to call her name. Somehow, it made me happy when I called her. At the same time, Yuki had been developing a good relationship with Jurina and others. My daughter would always talk about how nice and beautiful she was and so on. Sometimes, Jurina came to hospital not to visit me but Yuki. I thought Jurina didn’t see me as her mother anymore.
Nante ne~
But it’s true that Yuki is very nice and kind. The patients and co-workers in the hospital really like her. Not to mention that many male doctors had fallen for her beauty and kindness. They had even tried asking her out but it was odd that she rejected all of them.
“Ne Yuki, why didn’t you go out with the ones that asked you?”
“Because I don’t want to go out with someone beside my favorite doctor.”
This was what I always received along with a smile from her when I asked her why she didn’t find a boyfriend. When I asked her who was her favorite doctor, she just laughed then left the conversation unfinished by changing the topic or staying silent, which only made me more curious. This would mean she already had her love and that person might also be a doctor. I was happy and at the same time, disappointed. Happy because a nice girl like her was deserved to have her true love. Disappointed that, I wasn’t the one she chose.
I found out about my feeling for her about a month ago. At first, I thought it was just a crush. But then when I spent more time together with her, the feeling just kept growing bigger. From crush, it grew to “like” and later, I admitted that I was in love with her.
Yes, I love her, a romantic love. Even both I and her are girls, I still do love her. I didn’t think that her kindness and charm would one day warm my frozen heart. I knew my heart had belonged to her for a long time. But what about her? She already had her favorite doctor. So how could I have a chance to win her heart?

On one day, I was working alone in my office. Yes, alone since Yuki didn’t come to work. When I asked Takamina about her, she just said that the girl had some family issues so she couldn’t come. I didn’t have any comment about that so I just did my regular job, returning to my previous days before I met her. But to my surprise, I didn’t enjoy it like I used to be. I missed her presence in my office. I missed her gentle smiles. I missed her excessive reactions for everything. And most of all, I missed all the time we had spent together in this room. How could a girl affect me so much like that?
But to think of her, my heart ached when I remembered her words about her favorite doctor and her sweet smile whenever she talked about him. Didn’t she come today because of him?
Suddenly, I looked out of the window to calm myself. But what I saw only broke my heart more. There she was, the girl I was looking for, standing at the hospital’s gate and laughing. But she was not alone. There was another man, tall and handsome, standing next to her and also laughing with her. They were happy together and I bet everyone would see them as a couple. What hurt me the most was when Yuki was about to leave, that guy pulled her into a hug then kissed her on the cheek.
They were so lovey dovey. He must be her favorite doctor when I saw the guy was wearing a doctor white coat with a namecard attached on it.
Unconsciously, a crystal drop fell down on my palm and broke intosparling pieces. I looked at my palm in surprise, more of it fell down. I felt wet on my cheeks, the unfamiliar things just kept falling down like they were teasing me.
It was the first time I felt so weak.
It was the first time I knew what is a real heartache.
It was the first time I knew what is called “tear”.
“Mama, are you OK?”
I felt a warmth on my cheek and a cute voice echoed in my mind, dragging me out of my misery thoughts. I quickly looked beside me, an unusual concerned face of my adored daughter welcomed me. It was very rare to see Jurina not smiling like that. And yet it was because of me.
“Mama, why are you crying?” She asked again. I slowly wiped my tears away then shook my head.
“Mama is just tired. Don’t worry, OK Jurina?”
Jurina pouted. She seemed not to believe my words. She is a smart girl even though she is just a 6 year-old girl. She should know her mother better than anyone does.
“Mama is lying. But I’ll be with mama all the time so don’t be sad, ne?” She smiled. And that that time, I felt so relaxed. At least I still have Jurina with me. Whenever I see her smiles, I’ll be also happy for her. I hugged her tightly then patted her head, a smile formed on my lips.
“Arigatou, Jurina. I love you so much that I can’t leave without you.”
A pair of small arms wrapped around my neck and a small giggling occured.
“I love mama too~ I love mama the most in this world!” Hearing her cheerful and sincere words only made me want to cry more. But I decided to hold it back when I didn’t want to worry Jurina again. She was still too young to understand the complication of this world.
*Knock Knock*
A knock on the door followed by a head peeked out from the opening door. The most unwanted person I wanted to see right now was standing at the doorway with her usual smile on her face. Did she not know how I hate her carefree personality right now? Or was it just my broken heart that hated her so much?
“Am I interrupting something?” The smile on my face immediately disappeared when that girl spoke up. Hearing the voice, Jurina broke away from our hug then ran to the person with a big smile and jumped on her.
“Auntie Yuki!!!”
“Jurina-chan~” She hugged the little girl.
I looked away. I didn’t want to see her smiles again. It only hurt me more and I couldn’t bear with this pain.
“Ne Jurina-chan, you don’t have school on weekend right?” I heard their conversation. It wasn’t like I wanted to hear it but they were right behind me so I couldn’t help.
“Hai~ I’m free~”
“So do you want to go to Disney land with me?”
“Disney Land??? Yay!! I want to go! I want to go!” I heard Jurina’s cheerful exclaim and Yuki’s giggling and that only spoiled my blood. I didn’t know why I felt so angry. “Demou... Auntie Yuki...”
“What is it, Jurina-chan?”
“Can Mayu-mama come with us too?” Suddenly, I heard my name. My hand immediately stopped writting on the report.
“Sure. Why not? I was about to ask her. Why don’t you invite her for me, Jurina-chan?”
“Leave it to me!”
Later, my chair was turned around with a force then I felt a new weight on my laps, following by a mischievous smile in front of my eyes.
“Mayu-mama~” Jurina’s flabby voice was ringing in my ears, giving me goosebumps even though she was just a little kid. “Mama will go with Jurina and Auntie Yuki to Disney Land, right?~”
“Etou... Jurina... I’m sorry but...” Oh gosh... That pout and... duck lips... Stop that Jurina or I would fall into your trap again! Need to control myself.
“Please mama~ I want to go with you. Please~” I could see her puppy ears and eyes! Oh gosh! Why did she look like a lost puppy so much?!?
“B-But... I’ll be busy at that day and I...” Her puppy eyes were now more sparkling. I even saw the ready-to-fall tears at the corner of her eyes.
“Mayu-mama, you don’t love me so you don’t want to go with me?” That! That was her secret weapon! Cute puppy attack! Gosh I would never get away of it!
“I love you Jurina.” I sighed. “OK, I’ll go with you.”
“Yay!” Oh Geez... Those fake tears were now replaced by a mischievous smile. Maybe I should sign her up for an acting class when she was older.
I mentally facepalmed and watched Jurina jumped on Yuki again.
“Finally! My dream came true!” Her dream? I thought her dream was to become an idol.
“Oh really? Congratulation, Jurina-chan. What is your dream?” Yuki smiled.
“It’s to go out together with Mayu-mama and Auntie Yuki!”
My heart ached again. I could never imagine that Jurina innocent dream was about me and Yuki. I was so surprised that she even had such a dream like that. And my heart just hurt more when Yuki looked at me and smiled to me. I started to hate that smile of hers so much.
“I’ll see you two at Disney Land on Saturday, 3pm OK?” She said to me. I just nodded with a cold look then turned around. If I didn’t do that, tears would come out again.
What did I expect more?
What did I hope more?
What did I want more?
She had her love already.
She had someone she cared about.
She already had someone that her heart beated for that person.
So... Why should I concern about her more?
I’m no one to her.
No one.

But I’m not a person that breaks promises so here I was, at Disney Land with Jurina. Just for today, I tied my hair into twin-piggy tails and curled the tip a little. I wore a white t-shirt with a blue sleeveless hoodie, a blue jean shorts and white and blue sandals. Looking beside me, Jurina was wearing a black and white T-shirt and a black jeans with a black cap on her head. She really did look like a boy. So cute and handsome.
We were waiting for Yuki at the gate with Jurina holding my hand. She was very excited because it had been a long time since our last visit here together. And also, her favortire auntie was coming with her so how couldn’t she be excited about it? I let out a sigh at that thought.
“AH! Mama!” Jurina tugged my shirt then pointed at a direction. “Look! It’s Auntie Yuki!”
I looked at the direction that she pointed at. And once again, my heart skipped a beat when I saw a girl, no, an angel running towards us. Her black long hair and her white dress really made her an angel. She was breathtaking, I was not kidding at all. She was really beautiful. I stood there like a statue until Jurina’s grip on my hand disappeared and the girl jumped on the person in front of me with a big smile.
“Auntie Yuki! You came!”
“Gomen ne, Jurina-chan. I’m late.” Yuki gave the little girl an apologetic smile.
“No you’re not!”
“Jurina is right. It’s only us that come too early. Jurina is so excited so we came here 30 minutes earlier.”
I finally said to her but of course in a cold tone. I just decided that I should stop being too closed to her, for her sake and my own sake. It was not good if her boyfriend found out about us.
“Soka. But I made you wait for me so it was my fault anyway. I’m sorry, Jurina-chan, Mayu-chan.”
She smiled to me again. I quickly turned away to hide my flushed cheeks then coughed to clean away my embarrassment. Not knowing what to reply, I just said something out in random that I regretted so much.
“You look... beautiful today, Yuki.”
Nani kore? Did I just see her blush? Or was it just my imagination?
“A-Arigatou. You look cute too, Mayu-chan.”
It was my turn to blush. If it wasn’t Jurina who was too eager to try all the games in Disney Land and dragged us in, the awkwardness would haunt both of us during the whole time here. We played all the games in the place, including the haunted house. I hated it so much! I really hated it so I didn’t remember how many times I had screamed when I went inside with Jurina and Yuki. Jurina seemed to be braver than me when she just ran off, not even wanting for me and Yuki. Me? I was curling up like a cat when a ghost appeared above our head. I was so scared that tears started forming in my eyes. And to boil my blood, Yuki just stood there and giggled. I turned to look at her in anger, with my hands covering my head.
“What’s so funny about, Yuki?!?”
She just laughed more.
“Mou! Stop it! It’s not funny! This place is scary!” I pouted. I thought I was crying too when I felt my cheeks wet.
Seeing my tears, Yuki immediately stopped laughing and approached me. She gently took off my hands and patted my hair firmly when her other hand held mine tight.
“There is nothing to be scared of. These are all fake. Don’t worry. I’ll protect you, OK?”
Unconsciously, my heart was warmed by her words. I was so happy to hear that. Even though I wasn’t the one she chose to love but I was satisfied with her concern. I had been too childish. I should be more grateful about this. I was cared by the most wonderful person in the world.
I just nodded at her and received back a smile. She still held my hand while pulling both of us up.
“We still need to catch up with Jurina and get out of here before you faint so let’s hurry OK?”
“Hey! I’m not gonna faint...” I said in a small voice.
“Haha. You’re too cute, Mayu-chan. I love this side of you more than your serious and cold doctor side.” She smiled. My cheeks were burnt in embarrassment and happiness. Geez this girl really knew how to kill me slowly.
Suddenly, the hand in my grip disappeared. Later, it was replaced by a protective arm around my waist, pulling me closer to the owner. I blushed hard when I felt her warmth and her... *cough* oppai *cough*
“Y-Yuki...”
“This way will keep you safe, Mayu-chan. Trust me.”
She smiled again then led us forward. I said no more and then closed my eyes on the whole way out. Everytime I heard a creepy sound, my grip on her dress would be tightened and a giggling would be heard from her. She would be the only one who saw this weak side of me. But I didn’t regret it. In fact, I’m happy that she is the first and only one who knows it.
After awhile, we managed to get out of the haunted house, where Jurina was standing and waiting for us with a pout that soon turned into a mischievous smile when she saw Yuki hugging me.
“What took you so long, Mayu-mama? Too scared that Auntie Yuki had to protect you?”
Geez, this little devil...
“Quiet Jurina or no ice cream for you.” I glared at her in anger and embarrassment when I got myself off Yuki’s protective hug.
“I don’t need you. I’ll ask Auntie Yuki for it later. She’s nicer and more generous than you, Cyborg-mama!” She sticked her tongue at me then ran away.
“Oh you devil! Come back here!” I chased her, leaving a laughing Yuki behind.
After a few rounds of running and chasing, I caught the little devil and earned ourselves cheerful laughter. It had been a long time that I had so much fun like this. I had to thank Yuki later.
“OK Jurina. Let’s go back. We don’t want to make Yuki wait for us, do we?”
“Hai~”
I took her small hand then walked together back to the haunted house, where I thought Yuki was there.
It was already 7pm so it was dark and I didn’t want to lose Jurina. Disney Land is a big place so I couldn’t when this energetic girl would ran off on her own again.
When we arrived at our destination, once again, the last injury of my heart ache. There she was, sitting on a bench, properly waiting for us. But she wasn’t alone. Even though it was dark and that eprson was dressed in casual costume, I still noticed that it was the doctor I saw with her few days ago. They were chatting happily together. I felt like I was the third person who watching them from the distance. It was so painful that I couldn’t cry anymore.
“Ah! Mickey mouse!”
Suddenly, Jurina yelled then let go of my hand, following a man in Mickey costume. She ran away too fast and sport was my weakness. Soon later, I lost her track.
“Jurina! Jurina! Where are you?!?” I shouted her name, trying to find the little figure in the jungle of people.
“Jurina! Jurina!” I ran around until my energy was drained out but still I saw nothing.
“JURINA!” I shouted once last time before placing both of my hands on my knees to support my weak body. I panted for air, worry and fear took over my mind.
Jurina was my only hope, my only belief in this world. If I lost her, I really couldn't live anymore.
“Mayu-chan!”
Suddenly, a voice called out my name. Seriously, I didn’t want to see her in this time. I had taken enough. And yet she was running towards me with that guy.
“Mayu-chan! What’s wrong? Where is Jurina-chan?” She placed her hand on my back and patted it but I wiped it away then looked at her in anger.
“None of your business OK? Just go back to your friend and have fun.”
“What are you talking about Mayu? What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong? You and everything! Why don’t you just leave me alone already? I’m tired of this! Just leave me alone! If I hadn’t met you then we would never come here and I would never lose Jurina!”
Couldn’t hold back anymore, I said to her heartless words. I knew for sure she was hurt by what I said. I knew it when I saw her hurtful expression on her face but at that time, anger and hatred was what I realised. I ran off to find Jurina again, or rather be ran away from her hurtful look. The more I looked at it, the more my heart broke because of it.
I ran and ran like there was no specific destination for me until...
“MAYU-MAMA!!!”
In the noisy place, a voice screaming my name caught my attention. It was too familiar that I couldn’t ignore it. I knew it was Jurina. But her frightening voice was the one I least wanted to hear.
“Jurina! Where are you?!?”
“Mama! Help m-uhmhmth”
“Jurina!!!” Her voice was cut off in the middle. I was so scared of the thought she had been kidnapped.
I ran to the direction that I last heard her voice at fast at I could. In the jungle of people, I saw a black figure held a small figure and walked out of the main gate. By the cloth and hair, I knew that it was Jurina and she was kidnapped. I quickly followed them and got out of Disney Land. The guy who took Jurina ran to a dark and empty valley near the place and disappeared. I ran to the valley. Luckily it was a dead-end and there were only three of us.
“OI! You there!” I shouted at the guy, earning myself his attention. “Give me back my daughter!”
The man turned around. With the help of the street light, I could see his nasty and desired look. A big hand covered Jurina’s mouth and a cold knife was on her neck. Her eyes were full of fear and tears.
“Well well... I thought I would have a nice meal for tonight. But I guess I just got myself a much delicious meal.” The guy licked his lips. “You look tasty there, cutie.”
So this ugly bastard was planning to harm my daughter. I could feel my blood was boiled in anger. My hands curled up into fists that were ready to land on that ugly face.
“Leave my daughter alone.” I said in a cold tone.
“You’re tough, girl. I like it. It would be more fun with you.”
“Just shut up and give me my daughter you BASTARD!!!”
“I don’t usually give something for free you know.” He smirked.
“What do you want?”
“I. Want. You.”
I was so furious. I knew this guy only had lust in his mind right now. I definitely didn’t want something like this happen to my daughter, as same as myself. But seeing the cold knife was still on her neck, I had no choice but to follow his order, in my way.
“OK. But you have to let me daughter go first!”
“Until you have done something for me first. Now come closer or I’ll kill this girl.” He pressed the knife harder, leaving a small drop of blood coming out from her neck. I bit my lower lips to calm myself not to become wild or my plan would be ruined. I slowly walked forward until the guy told me to stop. I was only 3 meters away from him. He must be more careful than I thought.
“OK, now take off your jacket!”
I hesitated for a moment then took off my blue hoodie and threw it on the ground. Because of the hot weather and the long session of running with Jurina, my white shirt was soaked in sweat and it became transparent. It revealed my white bra and most of my naked body inside. I knew the guy had seen it when I could see he was drooling. Geez... Are every guys in this world pervert??? But thank to that, I had a new plan.
His knife was lowered down when he was distracted by the view. Pfft, such a pervert.
“Now take off your shirt. Do it!”
This time, I did it in a slow and secuding way. I grabbed the edge of my shirt and in slow motion, I pulled it up. In turn, my flatted white belly and my white bra came into the sight. When the shirt was completely off, I noticed his lusty eyes were on my body and both of his hands were relaxed, leaving an opening for Jurina.
Taking the chance, I said to Jurina.
“Do it Jurina!”
She immediately bit the guy hand, which was holding the knife, making him to drop his weapon. Then the little girl gave a painful kick on his pants, where his treasure was and ran to me. Good girl! I knew that karate lesson was good for her!
“Mama!” She hugged me tight and cried in my arms.
“Don’t worry Jurina. I’m here to protect you.”
*BANG*
We were all startled by the gunshot. Jurina snuggled into my arms in fear. I looked at the guy, a cold black gun was pointing at me.
“You... You b**ch. I swear I’ll kill both of you tonight or I’m not a man!”
He was furious, and maybe crazy because of his own lust and disgracefulness. I immediately turned ourselves around so now my back was facing him with Jurina in my arms. I pushed Jurina down on the ground when my body was still straightened so if the bullet went through me, Jurina would still be safe. If tonight, one of us had to die then it should be me. Jurina was still young and she still has her bright future forward, not like me. I had nothing to hold me back now. If I died, Yuko or even Yuki would take care of her for me.
That was what I thought at that very moment. I was satisfied.
*BANG*
It was enough to me.
“MAMA! NO!”
It was more than enough.
“Jurina...”
“Mayu-chan! NO!”
To see Jurina living happy.
“Mayu-chan! Hold on! Don’t die on me please! PLEASE! I BEG YOU!”

I shot my eyes open. I could feel my forehead and hair was soaked by her sweat. My breath was rapid and short. I just got a nightmare, one about my sad past. Taking awhile to adjust the new light and scene, I slowly observed my surrounding. The pip sound of the electrocardiogram machine next to me, several pipes and wires connected to my body and the smell of antiseptic medicine. I knew that I was in the hospital now.
Looking around more carefully, I noticed that it was the VIP room of her own hospital. I regconised the drap, the wall, the lights and the furniture in this room since I had many patients who were from rich families. Looking outside the window, it was already night. The sky was dark and there were only few blurry lights on the street.
Suddenly, I felt a warmth on my hand. I looked to my right, a smile unconsciously bloomed on my lips. There was my daughter, Jurina, sitting on a chair with her head on the bed sleeping sould and her little hands were holding my right hand. I looked at her and felt so happy that she was safe. She looked so healthy, might be my friends had taken care of her well when I was away. Softly, I caressed her hands with my right hand, feeling the softness and warmth of my beloved daughter.
A second later, the door of this room was opened quietly, allowing a person to step in. A mixture of feelings was growing inside me when I saw that person. It was Yuki, in nurse uniform with a clipboard on her hand. She looked more skinny and paler than the last time I saw her. I was so sad and guilty because of me, she must have been exhausted for taking care of Jurina for me. I was sad to see her pale face, happy to finally meet her again but then painful to once again sface the truth that she didn’t belong to me. I dreamed that she confessed her love to me but it was just a dream, right? The truth was... she already had a boyfriend...
“Oh my God... Mayu!” She gasped and called my name when she saw me awake. Seeing her condition, I didn’t want to bother her more so I gave her a weak smile and told her to quiet down.
She used her hand to cover her mouth then carefully took a look at the sleeping little girl. Luckily, Jurina was still deep in sleep. She sighed then when closer to check on me.
“Mayu, how do you feel right now?”
“Not so bad... But my chest hurts a lot whenever I move... and breathe.” I said weakly.
“Of course you should feel that. The bullet went through your chest. Luckily it didn’t hit your heart.” I saw her lips curl up into a fainted smile. She went to checked the wires, avoiding my gaze.
“How long have I passed out?” I asked.
“48 days to be exact. You worried us a lot, you know. Jurina visited you almost every evening until midnight.” Her eyes were softened. Her smile disappeared and I though I saw tears ready to fall in the corner of her eyes.
Suddenly, the flashback of my cruel words to her before the accident came into my mind. I didn’t know why I was so rude and heartless to her at that time. Everything in my mind was Jurina and also Yuki’s boyfriend so I lost my self-control and said something that properly hurt her a lot. She didn’t deserve it. I felt so guilty.
“Ne... Yuki...”
“Nani, Mayu?” She looked at me when I softly called her. I hesitated, taking in a deep breath before said courageously.
“I’m so sorry Yuki... about what I said in Disney Land... I didn’t mean it... I just-“
“It’s fine. I understand, Mayu. You don’t have to apologize.” She cut me off in the middle then smiled to me. “You were freaking out when Jurina was missing right? It wasn’t a right time for me to bother you and ask you nonsense questions at that time. It’s my fault to be exact.”
“No Yuki. It’s not your fault... I... It wasn’t only because of Jurina though...” I turned my head away from her gaze. I bet her eyes would open widely in her own overacting reaction.
“W-What do you mean by that, Mayu?”
I stayed silent. I was so confused. If I told her my real feelings, would I lose this friendship too? She had a boyfriend already... and what if she knew about my feelings, she would ignore me, disgust me. For me, it was fine if she did that to me but I didn’t want to ruin her relationship with that guy. Maybe because of me, they would break up. Who knows?
“Ne, Mayu. Is there something that you’re hiding from me?” She aked again. This time, I could feel the sadness and concern in her voice. I didn’t dare look at her now.
“Yuki... I...”
“It’s fine if you don’t want to tell me. But you should know one thing that, no matter what, I’ll always be by your side, Mayu. I’m always here for you.”
My heart ached again by her words. Why could she be so cruel to me? Her kindness was killing me by second. I’m not strong. I’m just a cold cyborg with a weak heart.
“Don’t say something like that Yuki... I don’t deserve your kindness.” I said in difficulty.
“Why not, Mayu?” She asked confusingly.
“Because...” Should or should not?... I would make my final bet then. I turned to look at her with my sincere. “I hurt you with my cruel words when I saw you with that guy... I was jealous... and hurtful at the same time... And because of Jurina also, I couldn’t hold back anger and jealousy any longer so... I blamed everything on you.”
“M-Mayu... You...” I could see her eyes went wide again; her mouth shaped into a big “O” with her hand covered most of it. I knew she would be shocked by my confession. But I couldn’t turn back anymore so I just moved on.
“Yuki, I have been hiding my feelings for a long time because I was afraid that I would lose my friendship with you and also ruin your relationship with your favorite doctor so I stayed silent. But now, I can’t take it any longer. I’m just a weak, vulnerable girl in the cold and emotionless cyborg mask. My heart aches so many times that I can’t bear with the pain anymore. So, I reveal all my secrets to you. Maybe you don’t want to be my friend anymore after hearing this but I just want you to know it.”
I took deep breath and looked into her eyes. I wanted her to feel my sincere love for her.
“Kashiwagi Yuki, I love you. I love you with all my heart. You’re the first and only one that shows me what love is. After 24 years being in the hell on the Earth, besides Jurina, you’re the only that can melt my frozen heart. Since the first time we met, my heart had already belonged to you.”
Suddenly, she cried. Yes for God’s sake, my confession just made a girl cry. I was so shocked when her tears kept rolling on her cheeks non-stop.
“Y-Yuki... I’m sorry... I didn’t know you... I’m so sorry... You must disgust me right now...”
“BAKA!!!” She yelled into my face, literally.
“Y-Yuki?” I called her name again and was shocked by her action once again. But this time, not because of her tear, it was her kiss that shocked me.
A light kiss on my lips, stopping me from saying anything else. I was so surprised by her sudden action that my eyes opened wide like Yuki usually did. My heart was beating so fast and loud that I could even here my own heartbeat in my ears.
I only gained back my conscious when her warmth on my lips disappeared. She pulled herself away and connected our forehead together. Her tears were falling down onto my face.
“Mayu, you’re the MOST stupid and dense doctor that I have ever met! How didn’t you realise my feelings for you, even when I gave you a hint about my favorite doctor?” She said in a low voice.
“Ehh? But... I thought it was that guy... I saw you and him... talking and hugging... and... he’s a doctor too...” I was so confused that I couldn’t even make my idea clear.
“Baka. Haven’t I told you before that I have a brother who is also working in this hospital? What’s wrong when I talk and hug my brother? Yes maybe he’s a doctor too but he’s not my favorite doctor.”
“B-But... who is your favorite doctor?”
Right after I finished my words, Yuki bumped her head hard on mine. Even I was lying on a soft bed but that headbump was really painful.
“Itai!” I caressed my head with my free hand.
“BAKA! Seriously, how can you be a doctor in your age when you don’t even understand such a small and obvious detail? The kiss means nothing to you?” She crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“Gomen... I’m just... confused right now... Does that mean... I was jealous for nothing?...”
“Exactly. You’re jealous of my brother, Mayu. Don’t take me wrong, I’m not interested in incest. I just accidentally ran into him in Disney Land when I was waiting for you and he was hanging out with his girlfriend.”
I tried to analyzed everything. My cyborg mind was overloaded by the large amount of shocking new information. Suddenly... I remembered something...
“Wait a minute... Yuki... Did you say something before I passed out in the valley? I think I heard someone‘s voice at that time.”
And there was my answer. Yuki’s cheeks immediately turned red. She was blushing hard.
“If I say yes?” She twisted her finger in embarrassment. She looked so cute at that time. If it wasn’t because of my injury and Jurina, I would have jumped off my bed and hugged her immediately.
“Then it wasn’t a dream, was it?”
“Indeed it wasn’t a dream...” She softly replied.
“So... do you mean it?”
“If not, I wouldn’t have kissed you. I should be the one who askes that question.”
“You know I’m a cyborg girl. I wouldn’t have said such a thing like that If I was just joking. But why didn’t you tell me your feeling first?”
“Because you’re always so serious during work and also so popular in the hospital so I didn’t dare talk to you about this. And you too, why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“Same reason. You’re popular too and I didn’t have courage to tell you. I was afraid that I would lose you and also our friendship.”
“You’re too timid and dense.”
“That goes the same to you, Yuki.”
We stared at each other for a while before both of us busted out in laughter. She was right. I was so shy by this new feeling that I didn’t dare tell her and as a cyborg girl, I was so dense to realise her feelings too and ended up hurting both of us. Why does destiny love to tease us so much?
“Ne, Mayu.” She stopped laughing then looked at me seriously.
“Hai?”
I watched her coming closer to me once again. She caressed my cheek and looked into my eyes. A angelic smile bloomed on her lips.
“Promise me, never do such a stupid thing like sacrifice yourself for me or Jurina like that. We can’t live without you. Never leave my side, OK?”
“I promise. I’ll never leave you and Jurina, again.”
With my free hand, I gently pulled her head closer to mine, burrying our conscious into a passionate kiss. Forgetting all of our past misunderstanding, I could finally enjoyed my true happiness along with Yuki. My heart would no longer ache again. Because, Yuki and Jurina would be always there to cure it. Finally, I have my belief that this world is not so boring like it used to be.
“Hmm... Mama?”
Suddenly, a soft voice spoke, making us to break our kiss quickly. When Yuki turned away to hide her blushing cheeks, I looked down to my right hand and watched the little girl rubbing her sleepy eyes in a cute way.
“Mama?” She asked again, kept rubbing her eyes. She must be still sleepy.
“Jurina.” I called her name and smiled. My voice woke her up completely. She stared at me in shock and disbelief. However, those emotions immediately were replaced by joy and happiness.
“MAYU-MAMA!” She exclaimed cheefully then hugged my neck tight. Her small skinny arms accidentally pressed on my injured chest.
“J-Jurina... You’re... hurting me... Itai...” Hearing my painful groan, Jurina quickly released me and sat back down on her chair. To my surprise, she was crying in front of me. Even her head was down but I could see her sparkling tears on her cheek. For the first time, I saw my energetic daughter cry in fornt of me.
“Hey, don’t cry Jurina. I’m still here with you. Don’t cry.”
“Mama... I’m sorry...” She said with her shaky voice. “I’m so sorry... I’m bad... Because of me... Mama got hurt...”
“There there, Jurina. It’s not your fault.” My quickly patted her head while pulling her head towards me and gently placed it on my healthy side of chest. “It’s not your fault, OK Jurina? Maybe I’m hurt but I’m still here with you right? That’s important. Don’t cry. You look ugly when you cry, you know Jurina.”
I giggled when the little girl pushed herself away from my hug then pouted cutely.
“You know what you can to for me if you blame yourself for my injury?” Jurina shook her head. “Smile. I always love your smiles so keep smiling for me, OK? When I see your smiles, I’ll recover faster so you don’t have to worry for me anymore.”
Quickly wiping her tears away, Jurina then gave me her famous cat-like smile before hugging me again, more careful this time.
“I love you, mama.” She softly said. I hugged her back and patted her head.
“I love you too.”
I could hear a giggling from Yuki. I looked at her and smiled to her. She saw it and smiled back. Finally, I found my real happiness. My reason to live in this world. There is always a reason for a person to exist. What matter is whether that person has found that reason already or not yet.
But right now, I had found mine. And I regret nothing.
“Knock Knock. Is the family reunion done yet? Can we visit our friend now?”
Several heads stuck out from the door with a mischievous smile. I realised that the Atsumina and KojiYuu had been witnessing everything in here, properly the confession section too. That was why they all had the evil grin on their lips.
“Too much cheese for Oshiriri-chan. I think I’ll need to cut off your cheese supply.” The squirrel, aka Oshiriko, smirked.
“Oi, Oshiriko, I learned that from you. You were much more cheesy than me when you proposed to Haruna-san!”
“Yeah yeah. Whatever. Recover quickly and get your oshiri off the bed. You have to pay Yuki-chan back a lot. She has been taking care of you for 48 days already.”
“I know Yuko-chan.” I smiled warmly. “I know I’m the luckiest person in the world.”

12 years later.
In a white church, two people, one short, one tall, were in a dressing room, preparing for a wedding. The shorter one was straightening the black vest and black tie for the taller.
“Geez, you can’t even tie your tie properly. Seriously, you’re still a kid.” The shorter complained and then fixed the tie.
“Okaa-san, stop calling me a kid already. Mou~” The taller one pouted.
“You’re still my kid, Jurina. And stop pouting. You look ridiculous. A groom shouldn’t pout like that.”
“Yeah I’m getting married so I’m no longer your kid, Mayu-Okaa-san. But I’m always your beloved daughter.” Jurina winked at Mayu then smiled.
The short woman giggled. At the same time, she finished her current task. She took a final look at the tie then stepped back. She observed her daughter and smiled.
“So, how do I look, kaa-san?” Jurina fixed her collar.
“Very handsome, dear. As always.”
“Thank you. You should be proud of your daughter because she gives you a lovely daughter-in-law.” Jurina said proudly.
“Yeah right. Rena-chan is kind and nice. I really like her but... I don’t want my daughter to get married so early.” Mayu sighed.
“What? I’m 18 and I’m already legal.”
“You’re just legal to marry. Why should you rush? Can’t you just wait until you graduate from university?”
“5 years of waiting are enough for me. I know she’s the one for me. Maybe she said she could wait but no one knows what will happen to us later on. So as soon as I can, I won’t let her go, okaa-san.”
“... I don’t know how you could capture her heart. She’s older than you, for God’s sake. 6 years is a huge number for an age gap.”
“Hey, Yuki-okaa-san is older than you too. 3 years or 6 years is no difference right? Since it’s just a number. And you know what people say, like father like son.”
“Oi! I’m not your father and you’re definitely not my son.”
“Hello~ I’m the groom today. And said who was dressing in the groom costume on her wedding.” Jurina stuck her tongue out.
“Just because Yukirin wants to be the woman in the family! And I like danso! I’m still a woman!” Mayu also stuck her tongue out.
“Whatever you said, otou-san. Groom Watanabe Mayu really made a show on that day.”
Jurina smirked. Mayu just gave up on fighting back. She sighed but inside, she was happy for her daughter.
“I’m happy to see you have finally grown up, Jurina. I guess you don’t need my care anymore.”
The smile on Jurina’s face disappeared, replaced by a cutely pout. The taller girl immediately pulled her mother into a warm hug.
“What are you saying, okaa-san? I still need your care, always. I’ve grown up doesn’t mean that I’m no longer your daughter. Maybe I can take care of myself and my family now but I’ll always need your advice and care to move on. No matter what, I’ll never leave you for anything.”
Mayu smiled warmly in the hug of her daughter. She slowly wrapped her arms around the girl and tightened their hug.
“You won’t leave me for anything? Anyone?”
“Yes. You and Yuki-okaa-san are my top precious people.”
“So... even it’s Rena-chan? Will you leave her for me?”
“Ehh???” Jurina broke the hug and looked at her mother in confusion. “Eh... I...Etou... I...” Jurina looked like a lost puppy that Mayu couldn’t help laughing at her cute reaction.
“Silly girl. I will never make you leave Rena-chan, especially for me. But I do want you to promise me one thing. Take care of Rena-chan. Don’t ever make her cry. Give her wanted happiness, OK?”
“Hai. You don’t need to say that though.” Jurina smiled.
*Knock Knock*
The door opened and a beautiful woman in white dress and a little girl in pink cute dress stepped in.
“Jurina, are you done yet?”
“Yes, I’m done, Yuki-kaa-san.” Jurina replied.
“Juri-nee-chan~ So cool~” The little girl exclaimed and ran to hug her sister.
“Haha. Thank you, Miruki-chan. You’re so cute.” Jurina kneed down to hug the little figure and gave a kiss on her forehead.
“Did Mayuyu-tou-san help you?” Yuki went to stand next to Mayu and asked.
“Told you, tou-san. You’re the father.” Jurina smirked at Mayu
“Oi! Jurina! Yukirin! I’m NOT THE FATHER!!!!”
“But Mayu-papa is a cyborg. And a cyborg papa is cooler than a cyborg mama, right?” The little girl tilted her head cutely.
“Not you too, Miruki-chan.” Mayu facepalmed.
Both Jurina and Yuki giggled at the angry but cute short woman. Yuki then walked to Mayu and pecked on her lips and wrapped her arms around her neck.
“You’re always my handsome and cute husband, Mayuyu.”
“And you’re always my beautiful and lovely wife, Yukirin.”
“Ewwwww! No cheesy moment in front of your daughter, please! I ate a lot of cheese pizzas with Sae-chan last night already. And your little daughter is here, for God’s sake! She’s only 10 years old.” Jurina stuck out her tongue while covered her little sister's eyes with one hand.
“Like father like son.” Yuki let out a small sigh then let go of Mayu.
“Why do people say that so many times?” Mayu mumbled in annoyance.
*Knock Knock*
“Hey, Jurina. The bride is ready. You should come out now.” A handsome ikemen in black suit said at the door.
“Got it, Sae-chan. I’m coming.” Jurina said to her best friend then turned back to her parents. She smiled to them, pulling them into a big family hug. “Thank you for everything, kaa-san. Even though you two aren’t my biological parents but for me, you’re the best parents ever. I love you.”
Yuki and Mayu shared eye contact before hugged their daughter back and smiled happily.
“We love you too Jurina.” Yuki said. “Now go to your soon-to-be wife. Don’t make her wait.”
“OK. You two should go too.” Jurina smiled then walked to Sae, aka her best friend and her best man.
As soon as the girl was out of their sight, the two hand interwinded and smiles were shared to the married couple.
“Shall we go now?” Mayu said to her wife.
“Of course. We don’t want to miss our daughter’s wedding, right?” Yuki smiled then kissed the other woman on her cheek before held her little daughter’s hand. “Come on Miruki-chan. Let’s go.”
“Hai~”
Mayu smiled and watched her wife and daughter, biologically with Yuki, walked out. She didn’t rush to follow them yet. She took time to walk around the church. This was the place where she held her wedding with Yuki exact 11 years ago. Jurina was the one who chose this place and also the date. She wanted to marry her girlfriend for 7 years in the same church and same date with her parents so she would have a happy life like them.
Unconsciously, Mayu smiled at the thought of her daughter’s reason for choosing this church. She slowly walked along the hallway, heading to the main hall, where the wedding was taking place. The wedding music was echoing in the church. Soon, she had a clear view of the happening wedding.
On the red carpet, a beautiful raven-hair woman with bright white skin, lovely black eyes dressing in a gorgeous wedding dress, slowly walked towards to the priest and the groom. Mayu took a look of her future daughter-in-law. She had to agree that her daughter had made a good decision. Matsui Rena, a doctor in Japan National Hospital, where both Mayu and Yuki are working, is a shy but kind and nice woman. She is very famous among the staff in the hospital, like Mayu and Yuki. But what Mayu didn’t understand that how come such a shy person like Rena could ever fall for a charming player like Jurina? And even get rid of her playerness successfully, what both her and Yuki couldn’t do in 7 years? Rena is definitely a mysterious person.
Watching Jurina took Rena’s hand into hers and happily smiled, Mayu suddenly remembered about her own wedding. It was her happiest day of her life, when she finally bonded herself to her true love. 2 years later, their result of happiness was made. Watanabe Miyuki, or Miruki, was born and became their biological daughter. Along with Jurina, they were a happy family.
Looking to her side, she met the beautiful face of her wife.Even though there were wrinkles behind her eyes and some white strings on her raven hair, Yuki was still an angel to her like the earlier time. Mayu would never imagine she could have such a happy ending along with her first love like now.
“Watanabe Jurina, do you take this woman as your lawful wife who shares with you happiness, pain and sorrow for the rest of your life?” (I’m not a Christian and I don’t know much about Japanese wedding so... I just make this up. Please pardon me if I make it wrong.)
“I do.”
Mayu held her wife’s hand when her eyes locked on the young couple. Their fingers automatically interwinded.
“Matsui Rena, do you take this woman as your lawful husband who protects you from every bad thing or even sickness and gives you your happiness that you wish for until the end of your life?”
“I do.”
Mayu placed her head onto Yuki’s slim shoulder, inhaling the sweet scent of her angel.
“I declare you are now husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
The crowd cheered for the newlywed couple when they shared a passionate short kiss. At the same time, Mayu planted a kiss on Yuki’s cheek, earning herself the woman’s attention. She smiled warmly to her wife and received back a lovely smile.
“I love you, Yukirin. Forever and ever.”
“I love you too Mayuyu. Thanks for being in my life.”
Yuki sincerely said and leaned down for another kiss. A passionate kiss that full of pure love.

Just cleaning my laptop while studying for my final exams and I found this old OS that was written around Feb :v I don't remember why I haven't posted it though. It was another day of AKB48, the national idol group of Japan. They were having their stage performance. After “So Long!” single is released, AKB48’s members are getting busier than ever.
At 5pm, all the members were in the changing room and preparing for their upcoming performance. In the corner, in front of a mirror, the center of team A and also AKB48’s ace, Watanabe Mayu, was fixing her bang and at the same time, rehearsal their stage songs silently. She is called “The Ace of the new generation” for many reasons. And her hard working is one of the main reasons. Anyone can find her singing to herself in the changing room during beautifying or changing her cloth. She can even skip her meal just to practice more. She is the promising next center of AKB48 so she will work hard to prove everyone’s trust on her is right.
But that also made other members worry about her health. In a lately interview of AKB48’s General Manager, Takahashi Minami, she was asked about AKB48’s current career and members of Team A. Takamina, Minami’s nickname, answered that they were still doing good after Maeda Atsuko’s graduation. The new generation was doing their best to replace the big empty place that Atsuko had left for them. Seeing their effort, Takamina had no worry about AKB48’s future career. But when she talked about team A’s members, she confessed that she was worried about some members’ health, especially their center. She saw Mayu had skipped many meals just to practice. And with her solo career, she is now bearing with a large amount of work. Takamina was afraid that the girl would break down in any moment like the center of SKE48, Matsui Jurina. Because she didn’t want another Jurina’s case to happen again, she tried to talk to Mayu about that but seemed that the young ace didn’t take her words seriously. Takamina said in the last moment of the interview that she would be glad if someone could convince Watanabe Mayu to take care of her health more.

In team B’s changing room, a girl let out a sigh and put the magazine she just read down on the table. She rubbed her temples gently, thinking about what was written in the magazine.
“Ne Yukirin, what are you thinking about?”
Kojima Haruna approached the raven hair girl and asked in concern. Kashiwagi Yuki, former captain of team B and currently ace of new team B, gave Haruna a fainted smile then sighed again. Haruna tilted her head. She was confused by her friend’s action but then she understood everything when she saw the magazine on the table. Coming closer, Haruna patted Yuki’s shoulder lightly and comforted the girl.
“Are you worried about Mayu-chan again?”
“Yes...” Yuki answered quietly. “After our new single has been released, I barely meet her. I asked Takamina-san to have an eye on her but seem that the cyborg doesn’t listen to her at all.”
“Well... You can’t blame Mayu-chan about that. You know she’s promising to be the next center to replace Acchan right? So there are lots of works for her to do.”
“True but... She’s getting more stubborn and careless at the same time.” Yuki sighed again. “Like Takamina said, I think she’s becoming another Jurina... She would break down any moment if she didn’t slow down...”
“Hmm...” Haruna put a finger on her cheek, thinking silently. “Maybe it’s because Takamina or Mari-chan isn’t closed enough to Mayuyu to convince her. I think you should be the one who takes care of her since you are the closest person to Mayu-chan.”
“I wish I could but we’re in different team now. And our schedule is different so I don’t have much time to look over her like I used to do when we were still in team B.”
“Didn’t you say in an interview that you visit team A’s changing room to meet her?” Haruna raised an eyebrow.
“Yes but that’s before both of us got busier with our solo work.”
“No excuse, Yukirin. You can always meet her and take care of her whenever you want by visiting her house. That is just an excuse for your neglect to Mayu-chan. You have been putting your career on top of your relationship with Mayu-chan so much lately.”
Yuki was silent by Haruna’s words. She wanted to defend herself but no words escaped her dried throat. Haruna had stabbed her weakness. It was true that she had been focusing on her career so much since it was her dream, her biggest dream. Ever since her place in AKB48 was noticed, she has spent more and more time on her idol career and became distant to Mayu. Even though they are still close friends, their time together outside of stage is getting less and less. And that got worse when they were separated into different team. Except for the time they spent together during work, they barely had anytime with each other. She didn’t even notice that she had been neglecting Mayu all the time.
“I think Mayu-chan’s fortune telling in GachiGase on 15th Feb is somehow true. She’s the top idol in our group now.” Haruna continued. “But it also said that her health would affect her career a lot. So she’s only the top when she’s healthy. Apparently, she’s not doing what the fortune telling said.”
Yuki bit her lower lip. Seeing that, Haruna just sighed then motioned Yuki to the door.
“Go and find her. I heard from Mari-chan that Mayu is performing in today stage. She must be in team A’s changing room now.”
Hearing that, Yuki immediately stood up and walked to the door. On the way, she grabbed her box of rice balls she just bought from a convenient shop before she came here. She knew like the back of her hand that Mayu had skipped her dinner again.
Passing some members in the hallway, she finally reached her destination, team A’s changing room. She knocked on the door and waited for a few seconds before someone opened it. And the one welcomed her was no one else but the new captain of team A, Shinoda Mariko.
“Oh Yukirin. What brings you here?” The tall woman greeted her with a smile.
“Sorry for my intrusion but I’m looking for Mayuyu. Is she here?”
“Yes she’s here, in the corner. Come inside.” Mariko smiled then opened the door wider, leaving a space for Yuki to walk in. “She’s over there, just back from her solo concert in Nagoya.” Said Mariko while pointing at the lone figure in a corner, who was sitting on a chair with her face facing the wall like a student was taking punishment.
“Thank you. Sorry again for bothering you.” Yuki bowed and walked to the direction that Mariko showed her.
When she passed by Mariko, the captain whispered to her ear, which later on startled her.
“I’m really glad to see you here, Yukirin. She would collapse soon if you didn’t come.”
She looked at Mariko in shock but the woman just smiled to her then joined Takamina’s conversation in the other side of the room. She just sighed then walked to the corner. The girl was sitting still on the chair and with her back turned to Yuki’s direction. I seemed that Mayu didn’t notice there was someone behind her.
“Mayu~” Yuki called her quietly, not wanting to startle the girl.
But seconds passed. Nothing happened. She decided to call again.
“Mayuyu~ Mayuyu~ Ne, okotteru?”
Yuki immitated Gekikara in Majisuka Gakuen drama but still, the young didn’t move an inch. Yuki started to feel scared. It wasn’t normal for Mayu to ignore her call, even when the young girl was angry at her. A bad feeling chilled her spine. She quickly approached the girl and shook her shoulder gently.
“Mayuyu. Do you hear me? May-“
*Thud*
Reacting to her shakes, the small body made a contact with the cold floor. The loud thud silenced the whole room. Every members present turned to look at the source of the noise.
In horror, they found a lifeless Mayu lying on the floor.
“KYAAAHHHH!!!”
“Mayuyu! Mayuyu!”
Yuki immediately kneeled down next to the girl and placed her into her arms while calling her name.
“Someone call the manager! Now! And everyone calm down!”
The loud voice of Takamina drowned the chaotic screams of other members. Mariko rushed to Yuki and checked on Mayu. But the girl, with both of her eyes closed, lay in Yuki’s arms motionlessly. Her breaths were fainting and slow. Sweats were running down on her forehead and cheeks.
“Mayuyu is burning...” Yuki worriedly said. She could feel the heat coming from the girl in her arms. It was like she was holding a flame.
“She has reached her limit. Yukirin, you go with Mayu’s manager and bring her to the hospital. I’ll inform the stage manager about your absence.”
Mariko hastily said to her then dismissed the surrounding people to get more space. At that time, Yuki picked Mayu up in her arms easily then went with Mayu’s manager to a car, heading toward to the hospital. Even though the situation was a real chaos but Yuki noticed how light the younger girl was. Yuki wasn’t good at sport and she definitely knew her own strength. She couldn’t pick any member up but at that moment, she could carry Mayu around without problems. She was shocked, by how many weights that Mayu had lost.
“Please be fine, Mayuyu.”
Yuki mumbled, looking at the immobilized girl in her arms while the manager got them to the nearest hospital.

Silence.
Sitting next to the white hospital bed, Yuki tiringly looked at the girl sleeping soundly on the bed. Different wires connected to the pale skin. The small chest rose up and down rhythm with weak breaths. Looking at the motionless body, Yuki let out a sigh.
She just heard about Mayu’s condition from the doctor. Apparently, the girl had overworked herself and skipped too many meals that her body shut down due to exhaustion. Luckily, she just needed to rest and eat more to recover.
“Mayuyu...” She quietly called, not wanting to wake the girl up. “Why was I so irresponsible to you? ... I didn’t even notice how thin you are now until I felt your ribs so clearly when I picked you up.”
Yuki slowly brushed away a strain of wet hair away from the peaceful pale face. Then the hand trailed down, caressing the burning cheek gently in care.
“Mayuyu... I’m sorry...”
Yuki whispered. A crystal drop was at the corner of her eye, waiting to run down.
“Mmmm... Yu-... kirin?”
A fainted voice broke the silence and at the same time, startled the raven hair girl. Yuki’s eyes opened widely as she couldn’t believe what she heard.
“Mayuyu?”
“Yukirin...”
The voice said again. Yuki looked at the girl on the bed. Her eyes slowly and weakly opened, looking back at her. Like a signal, the tear in her eyes finally fell down.
“Yukirin... Are you... crying?” asked Mayu weakly.
“I... I’m really worried about you...” Yuki wiped away the tears on her cheek then held on Mayu’s skinny hand.
“I’m... sorry...” The girl gave Yuki a fainted smile and gripped their holding hands tighter. “I’m sorry... for making you worry.”
“It’s OK, Mayuyu... I’m sorry too...”
“For... what?”
“For neglecting you...” Yuki lowered her head in guilt. “I have been focusing in my solo career too much that I almost forgot about you. I’m your former teammate, former captain, your best friend and mother but I couldn’t take care of you properly.”
“Don’t blame yourself... please...” Mayu said. She removed her hand away from Yuki’s and caressed the Reaction Queen’s cheek, wiping tears from her wet cheek. “It’s not your fault… I know… that you’ve been busy with your solo career… So have I…”
“Mayuyu…”
Yuki called the name of her daughter softly. A weak smile bloomed on Mayu’s pale face. “You know… why did I push myself too much?...” Yuki shook her head slowly. “It is because… I’m afraid of you…”
“What…?” Yuki’s eyes opened in shock. She did not expect that from Mayu. She never did. “Why… are you afraid of me?”
“We’ve always been rivals… since the time team B first debuted, right?” Mayu said in a soft voice. “We’re friends, teammates, mother and daughter, and also rivals... I always want to catch up with you, to be like you… or better than you… You’re so talented… that I’m afraid of you, of falling behind… Since the time you debuted as a solo singer, I’m even more scared than ever… So I pushed myself to catch up with you… do as best as I can…” At this stage, Mayu broke down in tears. “I’m scared of losing you… Yukirin… I’m scared that you won’t look at me anymore…”
Seeing the well-known cyborg girl in tears, Yuki could not hold herself back anymore. She held Mayu’s hand and leaned on the girl so that their foreheads touched each other. Tears mixed together with pain and sorrow.
“Baka Mayuyu… Why did you do that when you’re already ahead of me? I’m the one who should say that… You’re the ace, the promising center of AKB. How can I be better than you in any way? Ever since we joined AKB, you have been always ahead of me… I’m just someone that supports you from behind. I thought it could be better if I could stand beside you and walk together, not behind you and push you like I did when we were still in team B… And I thought you didn’t need me anymore… But I guess I was wrong…”
Yuki pulled Mayu into an embrace, which shock the younger girl. “I’m sorry Mayu, for not understanding you enough. I’m a bad mother, a bad friend, and a bad captain that can’t take care of her teammate. Forgive me, Mayuyu…”
“Bakarin…” Mayu chuckled softly while tears kept running down her cheek. “I won’t forgive you… since it’s not your fault… It’s ours so… we’re even.”
Yuki smiled and then released Mayu to stand straight up. “Promise me, Mayuyu. Don’t repeat Jurina’s mistake. I don’t want to see you in hospital anymore. Once in the past is enough already. Take a good care of yourself, ok?”
“Ok, okaa-san. I promise.”
“Good girl. In exchange of that, I’ll pay for attention on you. You are still my little daughter that always seeks for my care.”
“I guess I do always want your care, Yukirin.” Mayu smiled warmly to her friend. Their hands never let go of each other since the time they met. Their mother-daughter bond was strong enough to be impossible to break.
“OK. I guess I’ll take my leave now. The doctor said you’ll be released from here soon if you rest well so… Go to sleep.”
“Ok. Geez you’re acting my mother.” Mayu giggled.
“I am your Mamarin so sleep.”
“Hai hai~ Oyasumi, Mamarin.”
“Oyasumi, Mayuyu.” Yuki smiled and kissed Mayu on her forehead. “Don’t overwork yourself.”
“You too, Yukirin.”
They exchange their smiles for the last time before Yuki walked away to the door. “Ne, Yukirin.” However, Yuki was stopped by Mayu’s call right at the door.
“Yes? What is it, Mayuyu?” Yuki turned around and asked in confusion.
“Remember about what the fortune teller told me on GachiGase show?”
“What about it?”
“The part that I’ll find my love this year, remember it?”
“Yes. So?”
“I think I found it.” With a brief answer, Mayu smiled cheerfully to Yuki. Yuki was dumbfounded at first. But then she understood everything. A little blush could be seen on her cheeks following by a small chuckle.
“I’m glad to hear that, Mayuyu. See you tomorrow.”
After that, Yuki left with a smile on her face. The happiest one that she had ever had.

Another OS from one of my favorite authors! Pertaining to Mayuki too, haha~ Girl, you should've posted this up when you had the chance. XD But oh well, I'm glad to read your work once more!
Yikes! Mayuyu! You're overworking yourself! If Yukirin didn't come, I don't want to even imagine what would happen to the poor girl. :shocked: Please take care of yourself both here in the fiction and out in the real world! :doh: And I see that the two girls haven't been spending much time together... But it's understandable since they're very busy with their solo and considering that they're in separated team now, it's hard to get together. At least Yuki used this chance to find the girl.... Only to of course come to such predicament. :sweatdrop:
Aiya, this reminds me so much about people who keep pushing themselves pass their limits and overworking themselves. As much as working hard is good, some rest wouldn't hurt every now of then. :nervous (Oops. Look who's the hypocrite here, haha... :nervous ) When Mayu stated that she was scared to lose to Yukirin, I couldn't help but feel my heart go 'doki doki'! Dawwww~ The competitive cyborg girl is scared to lose to Mamarin~ She shouldn't worry though since at this point, the two will stand by each others' sides. :wub: Just like Yukirin said, she now has the chance to stand by her side rather than push her forward to her dream from behind. And at the very last part, Mayu had indirectly stated that she found her love, which is Yuki! :inlove:
This one shot surely does have lots of cute moments and a little tension when Yuki stumbled upon a sick, overworked girl. Love it! :thumbsup Been looking for some nice fluffy fiction to raise up my mood for the day. (Not sure if you categorize this under the fluff section, but in my book it does.) :cathappy:

A/N: OK I just had this idea after one night. I thought what if those scandals of AKB48 members sleeping with other men at night were actually true (probably you remember these scandals right?). So yeah I wrote a fic based on that idea. Of course the scandal aren't true in real life. It is in my fic though. Here it's the first half of the OS. The other half isn't finished yet so it may take me a little more to finish ^^; After this I'll work on a SayaMilky OS (requested by Amakuchi) and probably update PJ48 Gakuen.

Bitter Dream [Part 1]
21st Century, the music industry of Japan was reaching its peak. Many musical groups, bands and singers made their debut. A ferocious competition occurred between musical company in order to have their groups or singers to be at the top of Japan. Everyone wanted to be the top idol. Therefore, the managers had to do everything to have their idols get as many shows as they could, getting their fame as fast as possible. Everything was done, including the dirtiest way to get something.
2009, AKB48, a girl musical group in Tokyo, was on their way to be the top idol group of Japan. Since the year of their first debut, 2005, the girls had always been working so hard to reach their goal, becoming the top idols. More and more members joined and left every year because of different reasons. However, there was something that never changed; the dream of becoming number one in the musical industry. Unfortunately, dreams weren’t so sweet like they had thought. Members of older generations knew the bitterness better than others in the group, especially the ones who were 18 and older.
That day was the birthday of a member in AKB48, an Ace and a promising member among the group. Kashiwagi Yuki, member of the 3rd generation and team B, had her 18th birthday. It was supposed to be one of the most important times in her life. She should cheer for it. However, it seemed that the girl didn’t enjoy her birthday at all. The younger members in team B cheered for her; congratulated her in many ways when the older ones just gave her a supportive smile. Among the under 18 members, no one would notice the sign of sadness on Yuki’s face, except for one. Watanabe Mayu, one of Yuki’s best friends, knew something was wrong with the girl, especially when it was on her birthday. Mayu is also member of 3rd generation and team B. She had been with Yuki from the time when they joined AKB48. They shared everything, from little daily stories to secrets. They were so close to each other that they even had their couple’s name, Mayuki. It became a big topic among shippers and that even gave them more fame. Some fans even bought singles and concert DVDs just to look for few Mayuki moments. However, whether Mayuki was real or not, only the couple knew.
Back to the topic, Mayu had been looking at Yuki during the practicing period. They were preparing for the stage show in the evening so everyone worked as hard as they could. Even though she knew the choreography was tough and tiring, the cyborg couldn’t explain why Yuki’s smile looked so sad; something that was so unusual to come from a strong and generous girl. For a 15-year-old girl, Mayu knew many things more than other girls in her age, even though her look didn’t show that. She knew young members didn’t know anything about Yuki’s problem. However, the senpais seemed to know it very well. By seeing how they encourage Yuki during the practice, Mayu knew they knew something about Yuki’s sadness and what was bothering her. But Mayu couldn’t get herself to ask about it since she was quite sure no one would tell her. Therefore, she decided to ask Yuki about it, when they were alone. She didn’t hope that Yuki would tell her everything, but at least she could tell Yuki that she was always there to support the older girl.

“Thank you everyone for coming here and supporting us! We’ll always do your best to bring you happiness! And also thank you for cheering my 18th birthday with me. I really appreciate it. I love you all!”
Finally, Yuki had ended her speech for her birthday stage. In front of the sea of people, all the members of team B made a line, bid their farewell to their audiences and bowed in unions while holding each other hands. Being the center of team B, Mayu was standing in the middle of the line. Right next to her was the ace of team B, Yuki, who was holding her right hand when they bowed. It would be normal when their positions were always next to each other. But Mayu noticed something odd. She felt her right hand was shaking. To be exact, Yuki’s hand was shaking in her hand. They were trembling so hard that it made the cyborg concern about Yuki’s health. Trying to calm herself down, Mayu recalled their stage performance. The choreography wasn’t too hard or tiring. She knew Yuki didn’t have a good physical health but she was much stronger to bear with even more difficult choreography. There was no reason for her to be this tired. This made Mayu feel anxious.
When they went to the changing room, the members split up and changed their clothes, while chatting happily with each other. However, Yuki excused herself and walked to the WC silently. Mayu took a moment to realize Yuki’s absence. Seeing the girl leaving the room, Mayu decided to follow the ace. Few minutes later, as she was expected, Mayu ended up standing outside the female toilet. She saw Yuki walking into it but she didn’t want to go with her. Not yet. Why? She heard sob. She heard it clearly. Yuki was crying inside the toilet. No one was in this area except the cyborg. Therefore, she was the only one who witnessed this. Mayu stood there in silence, knowing nothing about Yuki’s problem. She felt like she had already failed at being Yuki’s best friend. However, the cyborg girl didn’t care about her feeling. She concerned about her best friend’s more than ever. She would never forgive herself if she knew her friend was in trouble and yet she didn’t help at all.
“Yukirin…” Mayu softly called, not wanting to surprise the other girl. After her call, the sob stopped immediately. “It’s me, Mayu… Can I come in?”
There was a long pause coming from the older girl. Silence lasting just for few seconds but Mayu felt like forever. Finally, Yuki answered with a shaky voice.
“Yes you can… Come in.”
Hesitantly, Mayu moved away from her current position, slowly walking to the toilet door. Looking inside, she met the brown eyes that were filled with sorrow. However, the smile that bloomed on the girl’s lips ache the cold heart of Mayu. Even though Yuki wiped all of her tears, Mayu still could see her cheek was still wet. Her nose and eyes were painted with the color of bright red.
“Hey, Mayuyu. What brings you here?” Again, Yuki put on that kind of smile Mayu really hated.
“Well, I realized that I haven’t given you an appropriate congratulation today. So… Happy birthday, Yukirin.”
As she had expected, Yuki’s smiled vanished for a moment before it reappeared again. But still, Mayu could tell that the problem was something about her birthday.
“Thank you, Mayuyu. I really appreciate that.”
“… Is something bothering you, Yukirin?” Slowly, Mayu got into the topic.
“What? No. I’m totally fine. Why do you ask something like that?”
“… Your smiles may work on the others. But it will never fool me. I can tell you’re not happy about your birthday. Are you hiding something?”
Yuki was startled by Mayu’s words. Her smile completely disappeared. She knew she couldn’t fool someone as smart as Mayu. However, she couldn’t bring herself up to tell Mayu about her problem. The girl was too young to know something about this. Being the cyborg’s best friend, she knew how passionate the girl felt about being a top idol. She was no different. That was why she was doing this. But she couldn’t afford to lose her friendship with Mayu either. Her feeling towards the young cyborg girl was something so passionate that she could sacrifice anything in order to protect it, something more than just friendship.
“Despite of your childishness and coldness, you’re sharper than I thought.” The older girl chuckled.
“Oi! Is that supposed to be a compliment or a scold?”
Instead of answering, Yuki just gave Mayu a sad smile then looked to her side. This made Mayu even more curious and somehow painful. She felt like she was not worth to share Yuki’s burden.
“Ne… Yukirin…” Mayu said softly when looking down at her feet. “We’re friends, aren’t we?”
“No… We’re friends. Why do you ask?” Yuki answered, still not bothering to look at the younger girl.
“If we really are, then why don’t you tell me your problem? I can help you. I’ll try to do anything to help you.” Mayu approached Yuki and took a hold of her arms, trying to show Yuki how sincere she was. She really wanted to help her friend, her mother. “Please, Yukirin-mama. I don’t want to see you like this. It’s your birthday and yet you don’t feel happy about it.”
“Mayuyu…” Yuki was shocked by the words coming from Mayu’s heart. She didn’t know the young girl cared so much about her. It was painfully sweet. For the first time on that day, Yuki smiled. She was happy to hear those words from her friend, her teammate, and her daughter. Suddenly, she pulled the young girl into a hug, trying to hide those tear that flowing on her cheeks. This caused Mayu to startle as Yuki’s bold action since it was rare for Yuki to take the action before her. During their mother-daughter roleplaying, Mayu would always be the first one who hugged or clung on the older girl first. This sure surprised the cyborg a lot. “Thank you Mayuyu… I know how much you want to help me… But this time, it’s out of your range… I’m sorry, you can’t help me…”
The cyborg’s forehead furrowed. Her heart ached when she heard she was useless. Tightening her fists to force herself not to cry, she had to stay strong for Yuki. At least that was what she could do.
“However… there is something else that you can do for me, Mayuyu…” As Yuki continued, Mayu felt like she was just saved by God.
“What is it Yukirin? I’ll do anything for you, even kidnapping someone.”
Yuki giggled then released Mayu in order to face the girl. “Silly. Why would I want you to kidnap someone for me? I just want you to promise me something. Consider it as your present for me.”
“Sure. Just tell me what you want and I’ll fulfill it.” Mayu lifted up the corner of her lips, forming a smile to confront the other girl.
“… I want you to trust me… no matter what happened… And please, don’t leave me… even I’m not myself anymore…” After taking a deep breath, Yuki slowly said to Mayu what she wanted the young girl to promise her, in a low sad voice.
“Wait… What do you mean by not yourself anymore?” Mayu lifted an eyebrow up in confusion.
“You don’t have to know what it means since I can’t tell you right now. You’re still too young to know and I don’t want that to affect your mind, feeling and dream. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to promise that.”
“OK, I didn’t say anything. If you said so, then I’ll wait. I’ll wait for the time that you will tell me everything. I trust you. I’ve always trusted you and I will forever. Although I don’t understand much but I promise that I’ll never leave you no matter what happened to you. Crossed my heart.”
Mayu drew an X on her left chest to demonstrate her words. Hearing this made Yuki smile again. She leaned forward, closing the gap between her and the younger girl. Mayu startled yet again. She could feel her face was burning when she realized how close Yuki’s face was to hers. Yuki smirked in amusement when seeing the shocking face of her friend. Holding both of Mayu’s shoulder, Yuki moved her head forward and placed a soft kiss on the girl’s forehead, causing the young girl to blushed deeply. When pulling away, Yuki noticed how red the girl was and giggled, making the young girl even more embarrassed.
“You’re so cute, Mayuyu.”
“Mou! Shut up! Why did you kiss me?!?!” Mayu looked away to hide her crimson face.
“That’s my thankfulness for your promise. You don’t know how much you have cheered me up.”
Mayu swore that her heart just skipped a beat because of what Yuki said. Her face became even hotter than before. Awkwardly, she didn’t know why she reacted like that but she couldn’t help it. Her body didn’t obey her anymore.
“Kashiwagi-san, it’s time already.” Suddenly, Yuki’s manager called her from outside of the toilet. Hearing that, Yuki’s smiled immediately disappeared. Her face turned back into its sad expression. On the other hand, Mayu was confused. It was already late at night but it seemed that Yuki was going to go somewhere else with her manager.
“Ne, Yukirin. Are you going somewhere now?”
“… Yes. I have an appointment with some business men. They offer me some works that would be good for my career.” Yuki gave the young girl a weak smile and patted the girl on her head. “Don’t worry. I’m going with my manager so I’ll be fine.”
Once again, Mayu knew the girl didn’t really mean it. By looking how sad her face was, she knew what the girl’s problem was but she didn’t understand much about it. In the end, Mayu gave up and force herself to trust Yuki that one day, she would tell her.
“OK, Yukirin… Please take care of yourself.”
“I will. You too. Go home safely, OK?” Yuki increased the distance between her and Mayu. Then she slowly went to the door. However, before her hand twisted the doorknob, she was stopped by Mayu’s voice.
“Believe in me Yukirin. I’ll never leave you no matter what. So just come to me when you need my help. Or else, I’ll come to you.”
Since Yuki’s back was still facing the cyborg, Mayu would never see the relieved smiled on the older girl’s pink lips. Yuki didn’t know what to say anymore. She felt so happy and relaxed. Suddenly, her fear of facing what was going to happen to her later disappeared, thanks to a certain cyborg. Yuki turned around, nodded at Mayu and then walked away. Even though it was just a small movement but Mayu could tell that she had succeeded on cheering Yuki up. Looking herself in the mirror, Mayu rewarded herself with a smile and then she walked back to the changing room to grab her stuff.
That night, a life was changed forever. Like it had been predicted, two months later, AKB48 had their first team shuffle. Mayu and Yuki were still in team B, except that Yuki was now the team captain, in replacement of Urano Kazumi, who was shuffled to SDN48, a new sister group of AKB48. Since Mayu’s best friend, Oota Aika, had been transferred to team A, Mayu and Yuki got along with each other better than before, especially when they were the aces of team B. Mayuki had their name mentioned in every fandom over Japan. They were even famous in China. Mayu debuted her solo single while Yuki was having a good time with her unit, French Kiss. Both of them were reaching their peak of their career. Every one believed that it was the time for both Mayu and Yuki to bloom in their age.
However…

“Otanjoubi omedetou, Mayu!” The union sound of cheer coming from all the members of team B shook the changing room. They all cheered for the center and also one of the aces of the whole group. After the birthday stage performance of Mayu, the whole team B gathered in the changing room and celebrated the center’s birthday together. Mayu was overjoyed, seeing her teammates and fans care for her so much.
“Arigatou, minna-san! I’m really touched. You guys are the best!”
“You’re already 18, girl. An adult already. Get ready to go to jail.” Myao teased.
“Oi! I’m not doing anything wrong here! Why would I want to go to jail?”
The room was filled with laughter because of Myao’s joke. Everyone was chatting with each other happily while enjoying their drinks and cake. However, Mayu’s manager slowly approached her from behind and whispered to her ear.
“Watanabe-san, you still have an appointment later. So you should be hurry or we’re going to be late.”
“Hai. I know. Give me a minute.” Mayu whispered back.
“OK. I’ll wait for you outside.” After saying that, the manager went outside. Since everyone was too busy with their celebration, no one paid attention to Mayu’s conversation, except one. The captain of team B, Yuki, saw Mayu talking to her manager. Even though she didn’t hear anything due to the noisy crowd but she was pretty sure what they were talking about. That explained why she wore a cold and serious face for a whole day. Seeing Mayu was going to take her leave, Yuki put down her drink onto a nearby table and then approached the girl before she could leave.
“Ne, Mayuyu. Where are you going?” Taking a hold of Mayu’s hand, Yuki asked softly.
“I have an appointment later so I have to go. Gomen ne, Yukirin. I can’t go home with you tonight.” Mayu answered and gave the taller girl an apologetic look.
“It’s fine. Don’t worry about that. But do you know where the appointment is held?”
“I think it’s at a restaurant, VIP room. I’m not sure since manager-san arranged everything.”
“And who are young going to meet?”
“Some businessmen I think. They said they will offer some good works that help my career.”
Mayu’s answer startled the captain. It was painfully familiar to Yuki. Her face turned pale immediately and her hand got weaker that she released Mayu’s hand. She knew this situation since she had gotten into the same thing on her 18th birthday. She knew exactly what was going to happen to Mayu next like the back of her hand.
“Ne, Yukirin. What’s wrong? You looked pale. Are you tired?” Mayu asked worriedly, pulling Yuki back to her sense.
“N-No… I’m fine… Mayuyu… Do you know what will happen next?”
“The appointment you mean? Well I think either I’ll get the job or not. Nothing special will happen.” The cyborg shrugged.
“… You don’t know anything, right? No one told you about it?” This time, Yuki was shocked.
“Know what? What are you talking about, Yukirin?” Mayu dumbfounded. She understood nothing. At that time, Yuki held both of her shoulder and looked at her in the eyes seriously, which startled her a bit.
“Listen to me, Mayu. Tell your manager to cancel that appointment. Don’t go there.”
“Why? Why do I have to?”
“Trust me, Mayuyu. It’s not that good like you thought. Nothing is given for free. It’s a nightmare, not a dream.”
“OK, you’re being non-sense, Yukirin. Just tell me the reason then I’ll listen to you.”
“… I can’t. Not here Mayuyu.”
“Why can’t you?”
“I just can’t. OK? Please, trust me. I want to tell you but I can’t.”
“Why? Not even after 5 years being best friends? What the hell, Yukirin?” Mercilessly, Mayu brushed the hands on her shoulders off and shouted angrily at the captain. “We’re best friends, aces, mother and daughter, but yet you never tell me your problems. 3 years ago, I told you that I want to help you. But you told me to wait. So yeah, I have been waiting for 3 years. Until now, you still can’t tell me. And you’re acting like you care for me while kissing, hugging and hanging out with Sae? Seriously, what do you want from me?”
“Mayu… I…” Yuki was stuck with her words. She couldn’t find a good excuse for herself. So she just decided to stay silent, avoiding Mayu’s gaze. This action just drove the cyborg to her edge of crying.
“That’s it. If you’re not going to tell me, I will never listen to you. You don’t even trust me so how can I trust you?”
With that, Mayu ran out of the room, ignoring Yuki who was calling for her not to go. Quickly wiping her tears, Mayu ran to where her manager was waiting and got into a taxi. When the taxi started moving, through the car window, she could see Yuki running towards her, calling her name. But it was too late. The taxi moved further and further from AKB48 theater. Mayu forced herself not to turn around to look at Yuki.
“Are you alright, Watanabe-san?” The manager sitting next to her asked.
“Yes, I’m fine.” Mayu automatically replied in mono tone.
“Did you have a fight with Kashiwagi-san?”
“… No… Just a misunderstanding.”
“You look pale. Tired?”
“A little bit. My head hurts.” To demonstrate her words, Mayu rubbed her temples gently.
“Maybe you should take some pain killers. You still have some works to do tomorrow morning.”
“Sure… Please give me two pills.”
“Two? You may fall asleep if you take too much.”
“That’s what I need. Don’t worry. I won’t sleep until the meeting is over.”

After 15 minutes, the taxi stopped in front of a hotel. Mayu got out of the car and stared at the name board of the hotel.
“What the… I thought it was a restaurant, not a love hotel.”
“Well the owner of the restaurant where I reserved said that they were under maintenance so I switched.” The manager answered while standing next to her.
“You could have chosen another restaurant! Why is it a love hotel?”
“Our business associates suggested this place. It doesn’t affect the job so don’t worry about it, Watanabe-san.”
Her manager was being suspicious. The location of the meeting was already full of guilt. Mayu felt her heart was jumping now as she was scared of this place. As an otaku, she had read many mangas and watched many animes that at least have this location. And she knew none of them had a good ending if she didn’t go here with her lover. Somehow, she regretted when she didn’t listen to Yuki and got her anger control herself. It was too late to turn back already.
“Shall we go now, Watanabe-san? The associates are waiting for us.”
“… Hai…” Mayu spoke with reluctance. Her legs followed her manager automatically when her mind was occupied with ideas of how she could get away of this. She thought she could call for help. But right away, she erased that thought. The problem was who she would call? Yuki? Or her family? Yuki was a girl like her, and even weaker than her. That was proved in several sport competition that AKB48 members had participated in. Therefore in this case of dealing with several fat old men, she would call for someone like Jurina, Yuko or Rena, the one who was stronger than her look. However, Yuko was busy with her own schedule while Jurina and Rena were in Nagoya. So this plan wouldn’t work. About her family, they were on a trip to Hokkaido. They wouldn’t be back until two days later. Therefore she was all alone in this situation. How about calling the police? Well, Mayu didn’t believe in police. To her, they were useless. They would either arrive late or never. So she never thought about calling police. Acting like she was sick and canceling this meeting? Her manager would never allow that for sure since that man knew her health pretty well.
“We’re here, Watanabe-san.”
Before she realized it, she already found herself standing in front of a VIP room with her manager. She screamed inside her head as she hadn’t thought of anything to rescue herself but yet she was facing her nightmare already. Silently crying inside, Mayu put on a fake smile to hide her fear and sorrow. Her hands turned cold and shook rapidly as her manager knocked the door three times, informing that they had arrived.
“Come in.” After the knock, an old low voice shouted from the other side of the door, instructing them to open the door. And the manager did so. When the door was opened, it gave Mayu a better look of the room. It was just like a normal hotel’s room with big-side bed, a television located in front of the bed, some bed lamps and closed curtain. However, since a meeting was held in here, a long black L-shaped couch was placed beside the bed, with 2 middle-aged men sitting on it and one younger man sat on an armchair beside the couch. When they stepped into the room, the men quickly stood up and bowed at them.
“I thank you for coming here. Our apologies for the inconvenience, Watanabe-san.” The middle-aged man with a white beard said.
“No, it’s fine. My apology for coming late.” Mayu quickly bowed at them. Seeing the men were very polite to her, her fear was lessened. They all dressed in suited, making them look like wealthy business men.
“Please, sit down. You must have been tired from performance already so I would like to make our meeting quick. And we can finally relax.” The white-beard man pointed at the short couch, which was perpendicular to his seat.
“Hai.”
Mayu did what she was told. She ended up sitting between her manager and the white-beard man, facing the young man. The other middle-aged man poured two cups of tea for her and her manager. Later then he started the meeting.
“Good evening, Watanabe-san. Thanks for coming to see us. I’m Yoshiro, the biggest shareholder of Niji Production. This is Furokawa-san, our CEO. And the young man here is Senji-san, our talented director. We invite you here to discuss our future co-operation.” As the man was talking, Mayu just kept nodding her head to show that she was listening to him politely. However, the young man, called Senji, was staring at her with a weird gaze, making her feel uncomfortable. She tried to avoid his gaze whenever she could.
“This guy must be a pervert. His gaze makes me sick. Urg… this is why I like 2D guys more than 3D.” Mayu thought. As she turned to look at her manager, she saw him adding some white powder from his pocket into her tea cup, which somehow made her worried.
“OK, here is the deal. As you may know, our most popular show is “Golden Talk show”, which has the annual viewing rate of 20%. Senji-san is the director of that show. We’re planning to increase that rate even higher, may 25% or 30%. And we see that Watanabe-san is the promising star. You’re one of the youngest aces in AKB48 and promised to replace Maeda Atsuko-san when she is graduated. So let me get to the point here. We would like to invite you to be our regular guest on Golden Talk show.”
“Woah… You’re asking me to be on your show?” Mayu didn’t believe in her ears anymore. The men were inviting her to film in their most popular TV show, probably one of the most viewed television show in the whole country. This was a big opportunity for her to get nearer to the title of “The top idol”.
“Yes. You’re in the line of top idols now, Watanabe-san.” This time, the white-beard man got to talk. “With your presence, our show definitely has no competitors. Also, this will give you more fans. Our career will reach its peak that no one could imagine.”
“That sounds really great. It is one of my dreams to be able to participate in your show. But… I think Akimoto-sensei is the one who has the last decision in this situation, not me.”
“We’ve already talked to Akimoto-san about this. And of course, he agreed. He wouldn’t ask you to meet us if he did not.” Furokawa laughed.
This time, Mayu was confused. She sensed something was wrong here. If Akimoto-sensei did talk to these men and already agreed with the offer, why would he tell her to meet them? The contract was already signed so what was her task to do with these men? Suddenly, her fear took over her body once again as a chill ran through her spinal cord. Her hands were shaking rapidly; her throat got dried.
“Watanabe-san, are you OK?” Her manager noticed her condition so he asked in concern.
“Y-Yes. I’m fine. I’m a little bit tired and thirsty after the performance.” Trying to remain calm, Mayu replied.
With a quick movement, the manager took a cup of tea placing on the table and gave it to the cyborg girl. “Here. Drink it. Don’t worry. It’s not bitter. I already add some sugar into your cup.”
Mayu hesitated at first. She didn’t want to drink it but she couldn’t be rude to the associates. She had been having this bad feeling from the time she stood in front of the entrance of this love hotel. That fear had just increased when she saw that pervert look of the young director, and the unidentified white powder that her manager added to her cup. But thinking again, her manager had been with her for 5 years. He had always taken a good care of her career and her health, organizing her schedule that didn’t wear her out too much. She still had some trust on him.
“Arigatou…” Hesitantly, she took a cup from her manager. Brought it to her lips, she gulped down the liquid, tasting the sweetness from the tea. This made her relax a bit, knowing that her manager did add sugar, for real. At that time, a ringing tone came from the manager’s pocket. He quickly took out his phone, taking a quick glance at the screen and bowed at the associates.
“I’m sorry. I have a call from my company so I’ll take a leave now. I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
“Oh don’t worry. Take your time. We’ll just discuss the show in more details with Watanabe-san.”
Mayu watched her manager got out of the room and shut the door behind her, leaving her alone with three older men, twice as big as her. She placed the cup down on the table and looked on her laps nervously. She felt uneasy when the young man moved his chair neared to her and the other two also shortened the distance between her and them. Her sweats wetted her forehead as she knew something was definitely wrong with these guys.
“So, Watanabe-san.” Suddenly, Furokawa spoke, startling Mayu a little. “Have you heard anything from Akimoto-san or your manager about the contract?”
“N-No. I haven’t heard anything from them.” Mayu tried her best to make her sound normal, even though she was freak out.
“Not even about the news that you’ll join our show?”
“No…”
“Interesting…” The men stroked his beard in amusement.
“She’s sure different. Watanabe-san is sure the rarest of the rare.” Suddenly, for the first time from the beginning of the meeting, Senji had some words to say. However, his words just made Mayu even more frightened.
“W-What are you talking about, Senji-san? I don’t really understand what you mean…”
“Well, seems that you’re still innocent, in many ways. Is today your 18th birthday by any chance?” Yoshiro asked.
“Yes… How did you know that?”
“Oh good. We’ve gotten ourselves a nice fresh chick. An innocent and cute one too. No wonder why Akimoto told us to keep silent to her. Delicious.” The man then laughed like a maniac.
Now Mayu knew for sure what they were talking about. She cursed herself for being so dense and stupid. There was no business meeting from the beginning. She was told to come here to be these nasty men’s meal, in exchange of a good opportunity for her career. Her manager was the accomplice. She hated herself for being so stupid. She understood what Yuki told her before coming here. Yuki knew exactly what would happen to her and she was trying to warn her. She should have listened to Yuki.
But it was too late to regret. She had to rescue herself. Quickly, Mayu stood up and ran to the door, trying to escape from this nightmare, not caring about her dreams, or her career anymore. However, on her half way to the door, she felt her legs get weaker and weaker. Her speed slowed down, until she collapsed in front of the bed. She tried to stand back up but failed no matter how hard she tried. She didn’t feel her body anymore. It was completely numb.
“Oh look, trying to save herself. Hahaha, but it’s too late, girl. The drug is already absorbed into your body. You can’t move for at least 3 hours.” Furokawa laughed while slowly walking to Mayu. He sat down beside her, stroked her hair gently. “Too bad that you’ve chosen to be an idol. If you haven’t, your first time wouldn’t have been like this. Maybe it would have been your boyfriend’s, on a romantic bed filled with roses. Hahahaha.”
“Get your dirty hand off me, you old hag.” Mayu shouted angrily at him, trying to hide her tears with her little braveness.
“Oh. Tough girl you are. But you won’t be for long. Just a few minutes later, I’ll make sure to get myself some nice cute moans from those tasty lips of yours. Your voice really turned us on when we heard you singing, you know. We’re lucky to have you and your virginity tonight.”
“Damned you disgusting pervert!” Mayu cursed as her tears were already rolling on her cheeks, soaking the red-carpet floor.
“That’s business, girl. Nothing is free. In showbiz, idols are just high-class prostitutes for entertainment companies like us. You still have many things to learn more about the world.” Furokawa smirked. Then he gestured the young man to come. “Senji, get her onto the bed. Let’s have our meal already. I can’t hold back anymore.”
The young man approached Mayu and carried her onto the bed beside. When her back touched the soft bed, she saw the man upon her was drooling. His hands roamed on her skin, mostly her arms and chest. And those hands continued their ways down to her lower body. Furokawa and Yoshiro were doing the same. However, Yoshiro seemed to be interested in her ears more. The man touched her right ear, kissed it, licked it and then bit it. She felt so disgusting. She was touched by those men who were as old as her father. She was their meal. Her first time, her virginity would be taken by these men. She felt so dirty and hopeless. Her tears wouldn’t stop flowing from her reddened eyes.
The men already took off her vest coats and ties. Furokawa and Yoshiro were unbuttoning their shirts while Senji was doing the same with Mayu shirt. Feeling dirty hand touched her bare skin of her chest, Mayu wished she could just die already. She didn’t want to know that her body would be disgraced tonight. Suddenly, Mayu felt tired and sleepy. The pain killers she took earlier were working. Her eyes got tired and heavy. She couldn’t control her sense anymore. Therefore, she gave up and allowed herself to fall into a deep sleep. It would be better for her not to know what the perverts would do to her body.
“I’m sorry… Yukirin… Please… save me…”
She said so quietly that the men, who were too horny, couldn’t hear it. Then, everything to Mayu was just an eternal darkness.

Let's start on the story. And I promise not to make this extremely long. (I think.)
On Yuki's birthday, she doesn't seem to be happy. At first, I didn't understand why. But after reading it over twice (yes, twice so I can have it settle into my brain properly), this quote:
“… Yes. I have an appointment with some business men. They offer me some works that would be good for my career.” Yuki gave the young girl a weak smile and patted the girl on her head. “Don’t worry. I’m going with my manager so I’ll be fine.”
It raised many red flags from this statement alone. Since it ties directly with Mayu's:
“Some businessmen I think. They said they will offer some good works that help my career.”
Oh God, don't tell me Yuki had received the same treatment as Mayu here. Such disgust! Those men seriously think they can taint the idols just because they've turned 18 and aren't allowed to have boyfriends. That angers me so much! And I'm sure Yukirin here won't be too pleased either to know what they've been doing to Mayu. Man... You left us with a real good cliffhanger. I can't predict the outcome of this ordeal. :doh:
In regard to that, there's a flash of thought in regard to making such sacrifices to reap the benefits. Is it really something that we want to do in order to gain the fame? And is the sacrifice really worth it in the end? Though I know for a fact that both Mayu and Yuki didn't want to do it, they were forced into it. And Mayu did attempt to leave, only to have failed due to the drug...

Sometimes that's the harsh reality I suppose. Though obviously I'm not an idol and have no right to say this, I'm sure there are situations where this could've occur. It doesn't come out to the public and behind closed doors. And of course... This doesn't just pertain to idols but normal individuals too. Again, is such sacrifice worth all of this trouble and pain? :doh:
Really love the flow of the exchanges between Mayu and Yuki. Not only that but the other characters too. You could tell that their personality aren't so, how can I say it... Cliche? No, that isn't the right word to say it. A unique personality input into the characters is what I wanted to say. Something stuck out to me about this point, but that might just be me. :sweatdrop: And an interesting topic to touch upon. It would be terrifying if such scandals are true with such scenario like this, LOL.

Shouting as loud as she could, Mayu sat up like a rocking toy. She was panting heavily while her sweats were flowing on her forehead like waterfall. Her heart beat rapidly, almost felt like it wanted to jump out of her chest. It took her a minute to finally realize that she was just dreaming.
“Damned it… What a nightmare…” She cursed quietly. Caressing her wet forehead, she calmed herself down by breathing slowly and steadily. When she was calm at last, Mayu realized she didn’t wear her casual clothes. Instead, she was wearing pink pajama, the one that she had never seen in her closet. Furthermore, she was sitting on a neat white bed, which smelled like some expensive girl perfume. Taking a look at her surrounding, she found herself in a pink and white bedroom, an ordinary girl’s bedroom, not a hotel one. The yellow sunlight lightening the white curtain gave her a notice that it was already morning.
“Where am I?” She looked for more details that could help her to identify her current location. She just knew that she wasn’t at that creepy hotel anymore. And that helped her to feel relieved already. Suddenly, she noticed the white Iphone on the studying table next to her bed. Looking closer, the Black Marimokkori strap attached to the phone gave her an idea of where she was. “So this is Yuki’s bedroom… It has changed a lot since the last time I visited her… Wait… How did I get here?”
Right at that moment, the door was opened. Stepping inside was no other than the owner of the room. Yuki was in her casual clothes, holding a tray with a glass of fresh water and a blister pack of pills. As she entered the room, Yuki noticed an unfamiliar sitting figure. Her facial expression turned from surprised to relieve when she saw Mayu was finally awaken.
“Mayuyu! You’re up. Thank God.” Yuki exclaimed happily.
“Yukirin…” Mayu replied softly since she couldn’t speak loudly. Her dry throat was killing her.
“You must be thirsty now.” Yuki quickly sat down next to the bed and placed the tray onto the floor. She opened the pack and took a pill from it. Then she gave it to Mayu along with the water glass. “Here. Take this. It’s just pain killer.”
“Thanks, Yukirin.” Mayu drank the pill and gulped down the whole glass of water like she hadn’t drunk for weeks. As her throat felt better, she finally released the glass and gave it back to Yuki, who placed it on top of the tray.
“How do you feel now, Mayuyu?” The older girl asked in concern.
“My body is still a little bit numb. I felt pretty weak. Maybe that explains why I had a nightmare and I don’t remember anything about how I got into your house.”
Hearing the girl’s answer, Yuki made a sad look. “What kind of nightmare did you have?”
“Well… Some old hags tried to rape me… I think they were some business associates with Akimoto-sensei. They said I was their chick in exchange of the contract that would help my career.” Mayu rubbed her forehead and smiled to Yuki. “It was just a nightmare. It would never happen in real life, right Yukirin?”
However, unexpectedly, the other remained silent, wearing a sad expression on her face while staring at Mayu. This made the cyborg’s smile fade away. Mayu was smart enough to tell from Yuki’s silence that her nightmare did actually happen to her. Her eyes opened widely as her fear rose. Her body was vibrating and sweats soaked her face once again.
“D-Don’t tell me… I’m….” She stuttered. She looked down on her body, feeling disgusted that she was now filthy. Tears were already rolling on her cheeks. Her hands turned white from gripping tightly on the bed sheet.
“Mayuyu… Don’t cry. Your body is fine. Those guys hadn’t touched you yet… At least the inside…” Finally, Yuki spoke. She comforted the girl by leaning a little bit forward and wiped away the cyborg’s tears.
“B-But… the nightmare was real… then they did touch me… How isn’t my body filthy?” The younger said in shaky voice. Her sobs prevented her from talking fluently.
“Yes… What happened at the hotel was real… But we saved you before those men could do anything to you. You were already faint at that time so you probably don’t remember anything. It’s true… You’re still fine, Mayuyu.”
Hearing that, Mayu calmed down a little bit. She wasn’t sobbing anymore but her tears wouldn’t stop flowing from her eyes. She slowly looked at Yuki. She was so confused. There were so many things that she didn’t understand. It was completely a mess in her mind.
“… How did you save me…? Those guys are way stronger than you…”
“I did say “we”, didn’t I? Rena and Jurina were with me so we were able to save you.” Yuki smiled and patted Mayu’s head gently.
“… I thought they were in Nagoya?”
“They canceled their schedules. They were with me for the whole night.”
“…” A pause came from the younger girl. “… So you knew all these things would happen to me beforehand?”
“… Yes…” Yuki replied in a sad voice. She avoided Mayu’s gaze and turned away, not wanting to face the girl anymore. “I’ve always known this would happen to you and other younger members some days…”
“… How?” Mayu blinked as she finally realized something. She remembered the issue happened on Yuki’s 18th birthday. And now seeing the strange action of Yuki, she finally understood everything. “Yukirin… Are you… on your 18th birthday… This happened to you, am I right…?”
Hesitantly, Yuki slowly nodded, not facing the younger girl. “Not only on my 18th birthday, Mayuyu… That day was just the beginning of my nightmare… And every adult member’s too… Every week…”
Mayu was speechless. She was too shocked to say anything. This wasn’t what she used to think about being an idol as she was little. This dark side of fame was way too much for her.
“… They were right… You were right then… Nothing is free… and it isn’t a dream…” A low dark voice came from the cyborg’s dry lips. Yuki remained silent as the cyborg continued. “I didn’t know about this beforehand like you did on your 18th birthday. Maybe they knew if I knew, I would refuse to come.”
“… Not really. I think the reason why they didn’t tell you was that they just wanted to enjoy having some fun rape… Even if you refused to go, they would eventually force you to… They have the power that could even stop every member, including me, in the group from telling you anything…”
“Fun rape? What the hell is that?” Mayu exclaimed angrily.
“It is what it’s called. The associates may ask for some resistance during that so it’s called rape. The ones that are told to do this beforehand, like me, usually show less resistance since they are voluntary.”
“Wait… You volunteered to do this?” Mayu asked in shock.
“… I have no choice, Mayuyu…” Yuki lowered her voice. She was in edge of crying when her voice was shaking. “I’m powerless to avoid this… I can’t even graduate… They won’t allow me until they find someone can replace me…”
“… That’s why Maeda-san can graduate… Because I’m her replacement…” Mayu said to herself.
“I’m sorry, Mayuyu… I’m really sorry…” And with that, the older girl broke into tears. She couldn’t hold back anymore as she was suffering in pain for many years. Seeing her friend crying, Mayu almost forgot about her own sake. Even though her body was still weak due to the drug, she still tried to lean forward and hug the older girl, which startled the sobbing girl.
“It’s not your fault, Yukirin. I should be the one who apologizes now… I should have listened to you that night… And I should have been more sensitive to realize how much you have been suffering through these years… I’m sorry… I’ve failed as being your best friend and your daughter.” Yuki felt the hands on her back were tightening their grip on her shirt. She looked down and saw Mayu buried her face deeper into her crook of neck. “I promised you that I’ll trust you… but yet I didn’t and got myself in danger. I promised you that I’ll protect you… But in the end, you protected me and suffered by yourself without me realizing it… I’m a horrible person…”
Shivering, Yuki suddenly felt her neck was soaked. Like instinct, she hugged the girl, patting her head gently to comfort her. “It’s fine, Mayuyu… I couldn’t tell you about this even I wanted to, since it would be dangerous for both of us. I don’t know what they would do but it wouldn’t be good definitely. I’m happy that you care about my safety and that’s enough already. Life is cruel and we can’t do anything about it.”
“… No… There is something we can do…” Suddenly, Mayu spoke up. She pushed herself away from Yuki’s neck slowly as her sobs disappeared. Yuki looked at her in surprise since she didn’t understand what the girl just said.
“Thanks for cheering me up but Mayuyu, you know we are powerless. We can’t do anything to save our lives. Maybe you’re saved last time but I don’t guarantee this won’t happen to you again.”
“I know, Yukirin. I think I can save us, from everything.” Mayu said firmly.
“What?” Yuki raised an eyebrow.
“We’ll graduate and that solves everything.”
“…Wait… Didn’t you hear me before? I said we can’t graduate until someone replaces us.”
“Yes, that’s true. But how about scandals?”
“Scandals?” Yuki exclaimed surprisingly.
“The fact that I didn’t know anything about this prostitution before I almost became a victim shows that no one knows about this except for the people in the showbiz. Am I right?” Mayu held Yuki’s shoulders and shook the girl gently.
“Well yes… But what are you planning?”
“I’m thinking if this is revealed to every newspaper and become a big scandal; the managers and the people involved will either lose their job or go to jail.”
“… That may work… But that means our idol careers will be gone too… Are you going to throw your dream away, Mayuyu?” With that, the atmosphere became tense. Mayu kept silent and slowly released Yuki’s shoulders. She looked down on her laps. Her lips curved up, forming a faint smile.
“This… is not my dream, Yukirin… I’ve always wanted to be an idol… But this is not it… You were right… It’s nightmare. I don’t want to be an idol anymore. I just want to live a peaceful life for now. I really hate seeing my precious people getting hurt without me doing anything. I have to stop this. I know I can and I will do it, for sure.”
“Mayuyu…”
“What about you, Yukirin?” Mayu slowly looked up, staring at the older girl’s eyes. “You’ve been standing these pains for so long. Are you going to keep doing this?”
The girls stared at each other’s eyes for so long that it felt like years had passed already. Each of them had their own reasons for being quiet. Mayu was waiting for Yuki’s answer. As for the other girl, she was having a mixture of feelings inside her. Yuki knew she could get out of this a long time ago. But there was a reason for her to stay and bear with everything. Yuki smiled before she broke the silence.
“No. If you decide to go, I’ll go with you.”
“Really? You will? Then why did you stay before? You can just leave here on your own.” Mayu asked in disbelief.
Yuki didn’t answer right away. She paused for a few seconds then let out a sigh.
“Ne, Mayuyu. Do you know why I’m doing this for the whole time?”
“I wanted to ask you the same thing… But I was afraid that you wouldn’t tell me like three years ago…” Mayu looked away and pouted. Seeing this, Yuki giggled at the cuteness.
“I didn’t tell you three years ago because both of us are still too young to make a decision in our lives. But now, you’re an adult already. You know what you’re doing. So do I. That’s why I’m going to tell you the truth.” Before she continued, Yuki caressed Mayu’s cheek gently, making the girl to look at her. “I’m still here, going through this nightmare until now because of you, Mayuyu.”
“Eh?” Mayu exclaimed surprisingly. Her mind was still trying to analyze the unknown information that Yuki just gave her. But yet it failed its own task. Seeing the dumbfounded face the younger girl, Yuki smiled amusingly.
“Back then, when we started getting along with each other and putting this mother-daughter acting, I’ve grown a feeling towards you. Since I was still young, I wasn’t sure what feeling that was. When I was looking at you, I saw a childish and vulnerable girl that made me want to do anything to protect her. I wanted to see your smile and our endless spiritual power. I wanted to see you happy. That was why when I was told to do this kind of thing on my 18th birthday, I had a fight with myself. My mind told me to run away and protect myself. But my heart said I needed to stay to protect you. I had to be with you when this happened to you…” Yuki paused for a moment. Her hand moved away from Mayu’s and landed on her own laps. “I was so confused, not knowing what I should do. But then you came to me, offering to protect me. You were just 15 back then so I found it quite amusing to hear that. But I was so happy, a lot. I knew you also cared about me. Therefore, I chose to follow my heart. I’ve been going through this just to make sure I would save you from this terrible nightmare. I don’t want you suffer it like I do.”
“…” Mayu was speechless because of Yuki’s confession. Or rather be, she was shocked. Too shock to know how much Yuki cared about her. The girl sacrificed her self-respect and her sake in order to protect Mayu. It was too much for the young girl to handle. She had been treating Yuki badly without knowing how many things the captain had done for her. The thought of her own guilt made Mayu let her tears flow. She couldn’t hold them back anymore. She was so guilty and sorry for Yuki, sacrificing too much for a horrible person like her.
“Eh? Mayuyu?!? Why are you crying?” Seeing the younger girl’s tears, Yuki panicked. She didn’t know why Mayu cried exactly but she just concluded that she made the girl cry. “I-I’m sorry Mayuyu… I shouldn’t have told you that… I’m sorry for making you cry.”
“…” Mayu’s lips were moving but no words were heard.
“Nani? What did you say?” Yuki asked while leaned forward a little bit to cut off the distance between her and Mayu.
“I said… Baka!” This time, Mayu spoke louder, almost too loud that she looked like she was shouting at Yuki, which caused the older girl to jump back a little. With her eyes were still wet because of her tears, Mayu said loudly to Yuki, who was still confused. “It’s not your fault to make me cry… I should be the one who apologizes, not you… I’m sorry, Yukirin… I have been so stupid and dense that I made you suffer alone… You’re too kind, Yukirin… I don’t deserve for your kindness.”
“Don’t say that, OK?” Yuki said as she was caressing the younger girl’s cheek, wiping the remaining tears away. “You’re better than enough for me to do that. After all, you’re my daughter, my best friend, and my most precious person. I have no regret for caring about you in the way I am now.”
Time slowly slipped away as the two pairs of copper eyes stared at each other. Two souls melted and became one. Mayu could feel it. She could feel her heart beating strongly. As if it was trying to tell her that her feeling for Yuki was the same one that the older girl had for her, whatever it was called. The room was so quiet that the girls’ heartbeats could be heard clearly. They beat in rhythm, playing a harmony that soothed any pain in the world. Feeling her cheeks burning, Mayu finally gave out a smile, to tell that she understood what Yuki meant. They didn’t need to say anything since they already knew the answers. They had the same feeling for each other.
“Yukirin… I promise I’ll do everything to get us out of here. I’m sure my plan is going to succeed in order to make up for everything you have done for me.” Breaking the silence, Mayu gently said to Yuki with a smile. But soon later, her smile faded away and was replaced by a serious face. “But I can’t do it alone… I need some helps…” Seeing that, Yuki curved up her lips. She leaned forward to plant a soft kiss on Mayu’s forehead, causing the girl to blush lightly.
“Don’t worry. I’m always with you. If you need help then I’ll be always available.”
“Well… I still need more helps…”
“Hmmm… Tell me your plan first then I’ll see what I can do.”
“My plan is to reveal the truth to the publicity. I’ll record or film a member going with those businessmen and then give it to the newspapers or television companies. When this becomes a big scandal, either the managers and those who are involved in this scandal will go to jail or AKB48 will be disbanded. Then we’ll not only save us, but also other members who have and almost have suffered this nightmare.” Mayu told Yuki what her plan was and received some agreeing nods from the older girl.
“It may work… But it’s not an easy success. How can you bring a recorder or a camera with you to the meeting, recording everything without getting caught?”
“Don’t worry about that part. I’ve made a hidden camera at home while I was playing with some gadgets during my day-offs. It looks like an earring so no one would suspect anything.” Mayu said proudly.
“Wait… How did you… Never mind… I’ll never understand how your cyborg mind works. Sometimes, I wonder if you didn’t become an idol, maybe you would be another Einstein.” Yuki let out a sigh before continued, ignoring the amusing giggle of Mayu. “Your plan isn’t so guaranteed. But we’ll never know if we don’t try. Tell me more details so I can know why you need more people.”
“Well, someone has to wear the hidden camera that I made and goes to a meeting. In that meeting, that person has to make the men to say everything about this dirty business behind the spotlight of idols in order to get good evidence. The whole things will be filmed and before the person gets raped, she will be rescued like I was last night. And then the record will be transferred immediately to the nearest newspaper before the managers, or even Akimoto-sensei, have their hands on it.”
“Hmm… In that case, maybe we could ask Rena and Jurina for help. Well, at least I can trust them on the rescuing part. They are strong enough to beat those guys, especially Rena with her kendo practicing sword.”
“I’m thinking about asking them too… But do you think they will agree to help us?” Mayu scratched her cheek.
“I’m not sure. But Rena doesn’t want Jurina to go through this, like me. And I think she has enough already so probably they will agree.”
“OK, we’ll ask them about that later. For the most important role, I think after what happened last night, Akimoto-sensei will be pretty mad about me and I’ll be sent to another meeting for sure. So I guess I’ll do the fi-“
“Wait. Who said you can take that role?” Angrily, Yuki interrupted Mayu, startling the girl with her black aura. “You almost gave me a heart attack last night when you were fainting, lying on a bed with only your bra and panty on and having 3 nasty perverts touching your body. I’ll never allow that to happen again.”
“If I don’t do that then who will?”
“Me.” Yuki said firmly. Of course, Mayu would never agree with that.
“No way. 3 years are way too enough for you. They haven’t touched me yet so let me do it.”
“Because they haven’t touched you, I don’t want you to do it. No one is allowed to touch you anymore. I’ve taken enough of it already. Last night is enough for me!” Yuki shouted in frustration, sending herself to the edge of crying. Tears were already formed in the corners of her copper eyes. The hurtful look broke the cyborg’s icy heart. It was rare to see Yuki in this state. And it wasn’t a pleasant view.
Finally giving in, Mayu let out a sigh. A sad smile hovered over her rosy lips as she caressed the older girl’s cheek to comfort her. “OK, you can take the role. But in one condition, you have to promise me that you’ll alert us before something bad happens to you. I don’t want to be late again. I don’t want to see you suffer anymore. I want to protect you, Yukirin.”
“I know, Mayuyu… I know…” Yuki smiled sweetly to the girl as she leaned against the soft small hand on her cheek. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the relaxing warmth coming from the palm.
“You’re really baka, Bakarin.” The cyborg giggled.
“And you know me too well, Mayuyu.”
“Whatever. Let’s go to my house and get prepared soon. I doubt that my manager would let me go that easily. You should call Rena and Jurina too.”
“Yes, ma’am.”

Another night of team B stage performance, the members once again tried their best to give the audiences the best performance they could do. As usual, the performance went smoothly, with the absence of their ace, Watanabe Mayu. The fans noticed the young cyborg didn’t perform, as her center position was replaced by the captain, Kashiwagi Yuki. Some of the fans were worried since they didn’t hear of any news about Mayu’s absence for that day performance. But since they didn’t want to upset the captain, who was pushing herself to do her best to replace the ace, the wotas still cheered for the girl excitingly.
After the performance, the girls left the stage and went to their changing room, chatting lively on their way. The last one to leave was no other than the responsible captain. She walked down the hallway, heading to the changing room by herself. Her face was soaked in sweats but showed no exhaustion. She bowed at every single staff she met on her way and thanked them for the good work. As she was reaching the room, a figure caught her off guard. It was Mayu’s manager, who was standing next to the door of the changing room, cursing at the cellphone on his hand.
“Damned it. Why would she choose today to get sick? What am I going to do with her appointment tonight?”
Yuki stood there, listening to every single word from the manager. Tightening her grip on her uniform and cleaning her throat, she slowly approached the man in caution.
“Anou… Kudou-san?”
The captain called the manager softly, which quickly got the attention of the man. Seeing Yuki standing in front of him, his rage got even worse.
“What do you want, Kashiwagi? I haven’t talked with you about what you and the WMatsui did last night.” The man replied in anger.
“I know I made a big mistake last night. I know Mayu is sick and can’t go to the meeting tonight so in order to repay for my mistake, I want to ask you to let me replace her.”
“What?” The manager raised an eyebrow. “You’re volunteering to replace Watanabe? Seriously?”
“Yes. I’m very serious here. If I don’t go, then who will? You can’t make a sick girl to do this kind of… job, or whatever you call it.” Yuki lowered her voice, showing that she was deadly serious.
“Hmm… You got a point there…” The manager observed Yuki from her head to her toes. “You’re favored by most of our associates anyway… OK then I’ll call them to make a replacement. During that, get yourself prepared. You have 4 people to serve.” The man quickly made a call on his phone.
“Hai. Wakairimashita.” Yuki bowed at the manager and then entered the changing room. Flashing some fake smiles when a member greeted her, Yuki grabbed her bag in the corner and made her way to the toilet.
Clocking the door to ensure there was only her in the toilet, Yuki let out a heavy sigh and leaned on the door.
“Yesterday was three. Today is four. What’s Mayu to them? A prostitute robot girl? I didn’t even serve more than 2 people at the same time. Damned it.” Yuki cursed quietly.
Slowly sliding down the door, Yuki sat down, burying her face into her knees. She wasn’t afraid of going to the meeting. She had been doing this for 3 years so there was no reason for her to be afraid. What she was worried was Mayu’s plan itself. What if it failed? They would face a horrible punishment for rebelling. Everyone involved, including the WMatsui, would go through their worst nightmare. Imagining Mayu getting affronted by several pervert ugly old men, it sent her a chill in her spinal cord, burning her mind in the flame of rage. Her knuckles turned pale as she tightened her grip to control her anger.
“Please, Kami-sama. If you could at least save Mayu, I would pay my life for all my sins I have done in the past years. I’m begging you, Kami-sama. Lend me your strength tonight.”
Praying in her heart, Yuki finally gained her strength to push herself up. Imitating the motionless expression of the cyborg, she hastily changed into her casual clothes and redid her makeup. Looking at herself in the mirror, she fixed her raven silky hair one more time. Ensuring she looked good, Yuki dug her hand into her bag again and took out a white earing. It had a small round black gem attached on it, which was actually a mini camera. Mayu had carefully disguised it in order to help this plan succeed so Yuki would never allow herself to fail. Not this time.
Staring at the small earring in her hand, Yuki’s lips slowly curved up into a weak smile, encouraging herself. After a few seconds, she decided to wear the earring on her left ear and tugged her hair onto her right shoulder, making her become even more gorgeous.
“Gambare, Yukirin. You can do it. For the sake of Mayu and others.” said the captain, who was looking at herself in the mirror. Inhaling deeply, she put her things into her bag then went out of the toilet. On her way out, she received some greetings form other members, whom she replied back with a smile. Then, she walked out of the changing room to meet up with the devil, Mayu’s manager.
“Our cab is waiting outside. Are you ready, Kashiwagi-san?” asked the man, with a little of tease in his tone.
“Yeah right. You know it’s not my first night, don’t you?” Yuki replied sarcastically.
“Well, your first time serving this many people.”
“Please don’t remind me of the number or I’ll kill you.” Yuki lowered her voice, still wearing her “sweet” smile. Her face darkened as her mind was boiled in anger. Tonight wasn’t originally her job. It was Mayu’s. Imagining the small girl screaming and struggling for help in the arms of four old men gave her an urge to punch the man standing in front of her, like how she did as Black in Majisuka Gakuen. However, it seemed that her black smile scared a hell out of the manager. He didn’t dare to say anything more and just walked away.
Yuki followed him soon later and both of them got into the taxi. During their way to the hotel, Yuki felt extremely nervous, as she kept touching the earring. It wasn’t her first night but yet she couldn’t stay calm as she was having a mission that could affect many people’s lives. Outside, she remained cool in order to fool the manager sitting beside her. However, inside, she felt like she was sitting on fire. Even though it was just the beginning of spring, but she felt so hot like she was in the middle of summer.
“We’re here, Kashiwagi-san. Let’s go.” Suddenly, the manager called for her. Yuki was so busy with her own thought that she didn’t realize the taxi had stopped in front of their destination.
The captain sighed quietly then got off. Adjusting her bag on her shoulder, she walked steadily toward the hotel along with the manager. Only until her back completely disappeared behind the door, three sneaky figures slowly moved away from the small valley nearby. The triples wore black glasses and hats that could cover their identities. But with their outfits and the way they sneaked around, they would be mistaken as thieves if they got caught.
“Mayu-chan, are you sure this is the place?” A girl with shoulder-length hair whispered to the shortest girl.
“Yes. I saw Yuki walking into it. I even checked the address. This is it.”
“So, should we go in now?” The palest girl among them asked.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” Mayu suggested. The girls carefully approached the entrance of the hotel. Peeking inside, they watched the team B captain walking into the elevator with the manager. As the two aforementioned people vanished behind those doors of the lift, the three stalkers quickly ran toward to it and looked at the digital board to identify which floor they were going to. They stood there, waiting for less than a minute, watching the red digital number to increase until it stopped at “5”.
“5th Floor, isn’t it?” Jurina asked.
“It is. Now hurry. We need to know which room they are.” Mayu hastily replied then headed to the stairs.
“Oi, Mayu-chan! You may want to hop on my back. I’ll carry you. It’s faster.”
“Don’t underestimate my short legs, you baka puppy! Shut up and let’s go!”

You may know, if we all got what we wanted then we would end up getting nothing at all. It was true in many cases, for example lottery. If everyone won the lottery, then the price would be divided. And each person wouldn’t get much money from it. In Mayu’s case, it was the same. Life is not easy to anyone, no exception. Mayu’s plan was not excluded from the cruelness of this circle of life. She couldn’t escape her fate, and the same happened to other members.
They had following their plan pretty well. They found where Yuki’s room was by waiting outside the hallway and seeing where the manager got out from. Mayu and the Double Matsui approached the door of the room after the manager had disappeared from their sight. They waited outside and listened carefully to any sound coming from the other side. Mayu had her ear pinched on the door, hearing unclear mumbles. Surely, the cyborg knew that the captain was doing her job, getting the men to tell all the truth behind the bright life of an idol.
After about 15 minutes, the conversation had ended, or it was what Mayu assumed, when the cyborg heard Yuki’s uneasy groans. Her heart ached each time she heard her beloved captain’s voice, but she didn’t dare to act yet. She didn’t know for sure if the conversation has ended.
“Hey Mayu… Yuki sounds odd… Should we break in now?” Rena whispered quietly.
“Wait a minute… We aren’t sure if she has recorded everything.”
“But Mayu-chan… I don’t think Yuki-san is in a good state inside…” Jurina hesitantly said, as more groans and even resistant shouts came. “We need to do something now.”
“Damn it! Let’s save her, girls!” Mayu spoke in anger, when her blood was spoiled by the image of Yuki getting touched by several nasty old men.
“OK, leave the door to me.” Jurina smirked when she did a warm-up for her leg. “Move out.”
Mayu and Rena stayed away from the door, allowing Jurina to kick the door away, surprising the people behind it. When the door was completely opened, the girls had a clear view on what was happening. Two of the four men were in the middle of undressing themselves while the others were holding the poor captain down on the couch. About Yuki’s condition, she had both of her arms held over her head when her shirt was torn, revealing her black lacy bra. The captain had some tears forming in the corner of her eyes but her smile quickly bloomed on her dried lips when her rescue team was in the sight.
Not wanting to waste any minute, Mayu and the Double Matsui quickly move in act. The kendo master used her wooden practicing sword to knock out the half-naked men, when the kissing monster kicked the men away from Yuki, leaving an opening for Mayu to drag the captain away. Quickly put her jacket on Yuki’s body, Mayu made a quick check on the earring before shouting.
“OK we’ve got everything! Let’s leave before the manager comes back!”
However, the cyborg had miscalculated a detail. She should have never underestimated anyone, especially her manager.
“You mean me, Watanabe?”
To her horror, the manager had already been waiting for them outside, with several men, waiting to capture them.

Mayu decided to spend her night at Yuki’s place, since the captain’s parents were going on a trip until the day after tomorrow. Yuki quietly opened the door and stepped aside, letting Mayu to enter. However, from the time they left Aki-P’s office, the young girl kept her head down, didn’t dare to look at the other girl. She said nothing and just went to her destination like a programmed robot. Silently, Mayu headed to Yuki’s room with no difficulty since it wasn’t the first time she stayed at Yuki’s place.
Yuki sighed at the scene and followed the girl to her room. When both of them got to Yuki’s room, Mayu sat on the bed quietly like a doll. The atmosphere was too heavy that Yuki didn’t dare to say anything. She went to her closet and took out a blue and white pajama.
“Hey, do you want to take a bath with me, Mayuyu?” Yuki turned around to say to the cyborg with a smile on her lips. But then, that smile quickly faded away as she received nothing from the girl.
Sighing heavily, she went to the bathroom alone. The warm water couldn’t calm her concern for the girl. Their plan had failed and they had a punishment waiting for them tomorrow. Furthermore, they even got Jurina, who was only fifteen, to join with them in this dark life when she still had three years to live on with her sweet dream. Not only Rena, but also Mayu and Yuki felt guilty for the young Matsui.
The warm water ran down the smooth milky skin of the Gravure Queen, however, it didn’t feel relaxing at all. Yuki couldn’t let herself enjoy the rare moment of relax when her mind was occupied by the image of a depressed cyborg. Sighing, she quickly finished her time under the shower and wore her pajama. Walking out of the bathroom, she faced a motionless figure. Mayu was still sitting on her bed, keeping her head down. The girl hadn’t shifted her position at all since the time Yuki went away. The captain felt her own heart weakening at the scene. It was so unusual to see a sad and depressed Mayu. The ace looked like herself back to the time when she just joined AKB48, an all-alone girl, a girl who always concealed her feelings and distanced herself from others. The captain still remembered clearly how difficult it was for her and other members of the 3rd generation to break that wall covering Mayu’s heart.
“Mayu…” mumbled the captain quietly. She couldn’t take it anymore. The result was already predicted. The ones who they were fighting against were smarter and more powerful than them. Both Yuki and Mayu knew that. What they did was just a try to gain back their right, and to say that they weren’t hopeless. The failure was expected but it was still too painful to accept. “Mayuyu, listen. It’s not your fault.”
“…”
“I’m sure a smart girl like you had known the result beforehand. They are too powerful for us, Mayuyu. We all know that. However, not me or the double Matsui is going to blame you. So don’t be upset anymore.”
Yuki kneed in front of the ace, placing her hands onto the shaking ones on the girl’s laps. She comforted the younger girl gently, like how she always did when Mayu was upset about her unsatisfied performance on stage.
“… I know that… But…” Finally, the cyborg decided to speak up her mind. But her monotone and shaky voice said everything. She was on the edge of breaking down. Yuki was concerned about the girl’s state. As she was waiting for Mayu’s further reply, she felt something wet falling onto her hand. She looked down. Some drops of water dripped down onto her soft white hands. It wasn’t hard for the captain to realize that the cyborg was crying. “… I’m sorry… Yukirin… If I could be more useful… smarter… and stronger… I could have saved you… Jurina… Rena… and other members… I’m really sorry…”
The cyborg finally broke down. She apologized between her sobs, without knowing that each of her sobs was like an arrow stabbing into the weak heart of a certain captain. Seeing the desperate tears running from the sorrow brown eyes, Yuki couldn’t hold back her own ones anymore. She felt her cheeks wet, like it sudden rained inside her room. Without hesitance, she gently embraced the ace, letting the girl to cry on her shoulder.
“Don’t be sorry… It’s not your fault, Mayuyu… Not your fault…” Yuki said softly while stroking Mayu’s hair gently. Then she also cried on the small shoulder silently. She was disappointed that she couldn’t save Mayu. The captain would never forgive herself for not able to protect her precious member, her love.
“You’re too kind… Captain Kashiwagi…” Suddenly, the girl in her arms pushed herself away from the older girl and looked at her with a pair of teary eyes. “Facing you, I can never forgive myself… for hurting such a kind and beautiful girl like you…”
“Hey. You didn’t hurt me. Not even now.” Yuki flashed a smile on her burgundy lips. And with all of her gentleness, she caressed the girl’s cheek. “I regret only one thing, Mayuyu. I want to save you but I couldn’t do it. I’m a useless captain after all.”
“No you’re not.”
“I am, Mayuyu… I am definite a useless one when I said I love you but I can’t protect you.” Yuki sighed and wore a fake smile to cover her broken heart. “I’m really sorry.” Slowly, Yuki withdrew her hand and turned her head away, ready to leave her room.
However, suddenly, a hand stopped hers from its track, pushing it back onto the warm and smooth skin. Startled by the touch, Yuki turned around, only to meet a sincere and caring pair of eyes. Along that, a beautiful smile bloomed on the pink lips of the cyborg.
“Since when my angel is useless? If someone is, then it should be me. I broke our promises again and even got our friends involved to our mess. I may not keep my promises, but I’m sure about one thing. That my love for you will never change, no matter what.”
With that, Mayu’s hand moved behind Yuki’s head and gently pulled the older girl into a kiss. The two pairs of soft flesh brushed against each other, filling their owner with passion of love. It wasn’t the first time they had kissed. But all the previous ones were just friendly kisses. This one was completely different. Both of them could feel their hearts beating hastily. And their mind was blank, as it was filled with a wonderful feeling that they had never experienced before. A few seconds passed, both of the girls reluctantly pulled back, with their foreheads were still connected. They looked at each other’s eyes, searching for the sincere reflecting on the copper orbs. Smiling gently, Mayu softly caressed Yuki’s cheek, enjoying the relaxing warmth from the older girl.
“Ne, Yukirin.” The cyborg quietly called.
“Nani, Mayuyu?”
“I’m thinking… Since we can’t do anything about this anymore… and my nightmare will begin tomorrow… So how about you help me one last time?”
“… Help you? How?” The older girl asked confusingly.
“… You know… Until now, I’m still a virgin… And I don’t want to give my virginity to those old men…” Mayu sighed before continued. This time, she looked at Yuki straight in the eyes. “So… can you… take it?”
“…. Wait… Are you… asking me to be your first time?” Yuki straightened her back and looked at Mayu in disbelief.
“Yes… Yes I am… You can at least reduce my nightmare… Although, I couldn’t be your first time… Well, it’s only my selfish request so if you don’t like doing that with me… It’s fine.”
“No no no. It’s not what I mean… It’s just… I don’t think I’m worthy to be your first time…” Yuki looked down on her knees. “You know… I’m stained… I don’t even know how many men have touched me already… I’m a real prostit-”
“Oi! Don’t say that word!” Suddenly, Mayu cut the girl off. “You’re not that kind of girl, OK? You’re not filthy. You’re Kashiwagi Yuki, my best friend, my mother, and now the one who I love so much. You’re the most beautiful and precious person to me. There is nothing about you that is filthy.”
Then, Mayu hugged the older girl, trying to demonstrate her words. Yuki startled at first but soon later, her body relaxed as it melted into the warmth of the girl’s embrace.
“I couldn’t save us. I failed so I want to spend tonight with you, creating a precious memory for both of us before facing our worst nightmares together… Please, Yukirin…”
Yuki didn’t move an inch. She was still afraid. Even though Mayu tried to convince her that this was her own will, but something inside her stopped her from accepting the request.
Seeing the captain hesitated, Mayu had no other choice but to make her first move. Hastily, she captured the older girl’s lips. Immediately, the captain’s body tensed up because of the bold action of Mayu. The younger girl held both sides of Yuki’s cheeks, preventing the girl from getting away as she deepened the kiss by licking the girl’s lips. Yuki gasped as she felt the small tongue make a contact with her soft lips, leaving an opening for Mayu to insert her tongue further.

Yuki tugged the wet bang of Mayu to the side, wiping away the remaining sweat to the smart forehead. Planting a kiss on it, Yuki laid down on the side of Mayu before her arm went numb. Pulling the blanket up to cover their naked bodies, Yuki wrapped her arm around Mayu, as the younger snuggled closer to her, seeking for the comfortable warmth.
“I don’t know you could be so rough on bed, Yukirin. You’re Black after all.”
“I can only be myself when I’m with you, Mayuyu.” The captain planted a light kiss onto the sweaty forehead of the ace.
“Me too. Good night, Yukirin. I love you.”
“Good night, Mayuyu. I love you too.” The captain kissed the girl’s lips softly. “Sleep well ne? The nightmare will go away very soon.”
“When I’m with you, there is no nightmare, only beautiful dreams about us being together.”
With that, the ace and the captain of team B slept in their warmth, completely forgetting about their punishment on the next day, and the following days during their time in AKB48.
Life goes on. Somehow, scandals about AKB48 members sleeping with businessmen at night were written on newspaper. However, because the news was lack of evidence, scandals soon went into the past. AKB48 still worked on her career without getting affected by anything.
Both Mayuki and WMatsui did a good job with putting up with their dark lives. Being idols at day time, acting like high-class prostitutes during night, but they were happy couples every time. Having each other was enough for them to go through these nightmares. However, during the Tokyo Dome concert, AKB48 had another big member shuffle. This time, Mayuki was separated when Mayu was transferred to team A. Yuki lost her captain position but still remained in team B. They thought this action was a way to prevent them from striking back the staff. A nice move but useless. Assigning them into different team didn’t change their love for each other. This also happened to WMatsui few months later when SKE48 had their first big shuffle; Rena became team E captain when Jurina remained in team S. The group changed. The team changed. But there is one thing that never changed, love. Mayuki and WMatsui still waited for that time, when their nightmares, and every members of the 48 family’s, finally ended.

I'm between crying and chucking my phone out the fifth story window I'm next to...
I seriously hate that some of my guesses hit on target about this ordeal... shocked on some of the big reveals (the frequency of this nightmare, Aki-P being definitely in on this)... expected that whole turnabout a little before it all went down... I mean, it wasn't like the manager was going to allow any more mishaps to occur...
If they had planned this out more in a longer span of time rather than next day planning... gathered a ton more girls to help them out in getting evidence (i.e. the older girls being interviewed anonymously, utilizing more girls in a fail-safe escape plan for the one run for video evidence)... maybe it would have all worked out...
I would be deadly wrong, however, since this industry is larger than meets the eye...

Hey Sayuki! Sorry for the usual late reply that I make to your fictions. Lately I've been late with everything, haha. :sweatdrop:
Anyway! I see that you have made an update to the second and final part of this multi-shot series. I'm glad that you were able to finish it! :) You don't know how fast I was into clicking this thread the instant I saw you wrap the story up. And when I meant fast, I meant I was still in my Economics Honor class and multi-tasking in both my work and reading your work, LOL.
So my emotions were somewhat being toyed with. Of course, I don't know if this was your intention and purpose in the first place to have your readers react strongly, but you made me react STRONGLY to it. I felt muddled and out of place; almost surreal as I progressed through the thick plot.
It's disgusting to see such turn of event the idols must go through the moment they turn 18. But at least Mayu was saved by Yuki. Soon as the two were discussing about the ordeal, Mayu did seem to have a plan about dealing with it. A smart plan that would work well in their favor. However, Yukirin has to be the bait for the time-being... I felt my heart race and mentally crossed my fingers in hopes this ends well.
Now... There was a quote from Yuki right before going in for the night to act out Mayu's plan:
“Please, Kami-sama. If you could at least save Mayu, I would pay my life for all my sins I have done in the past years. I’m begging you, Kami-sama. Lend me your strength tonight.”
For some reason, I find this to be my favorite statement out of this one shot. I don't know why, but I suppose it portrays the the desperation and hopeless action against their fate. And for Yuki to pray to the God up above to save not only her friend, but someone that she loves, that's deep. Really expresses their relationships in a great, emotional direction. Bonus brownie points for both the fanservice of Mayuki moments occurring within the fiction and building up the tension. And you added wMatsui to assist in their plan. The perfect group to handle any sort of situation!
Sad though to realize that in the end... It was all a fruitless attempt. Not surprising considering the fact that we are dealing with higher-ups that are so filthy rich, they can throw cash and swing the judgment pendulum to their favor. If we think about it in a realistic point of view, it does happen. Not just with those that are rich, of course. There are others out here in the world that are manipulative and will do just about anything to get want they want; whether it be fame, wealth, or satisfying their needs/wants.
A bittersweet end. Although I wasn't able to read the smut, I could tell that it is... well... heated, LOL. And the two couples are happy despite the outcome and the nightmares they had to live through the night.

After all, riots cannot be contained and silenced from the public.)

The Curse of Lovebirds [Part1]
Everyone might always want to have a childhood friend. Someone that grew up, playing, sharing joy and tears together with you. Lastly, understanding you more than anyone else. It would be the sweetest dream for everyone to have such a childhood friend like that. However, as a result of a long period of time of being together, other feelings could be developed side by side with the strong bond of friendship. Hatred? Love? Because of that not everyone liked to have a childhood friend. In this case, Yuuta was one of them.
Watanabe Yuuta, a nerd boy who was born in Saitama, Japan. Since he was born, Yuuta had proved that he was a super smart boy as he spoke his first word when he was three months old. He knew how to walk a month later and know how to read when he was six months old. At three years old, he could solve basic Mathematics problems. He had showed that he was a genius so his parents decided to move to Tokyo, where his talents would be developed to the best. So when Yuuta was five, he left his hometown and lived in Tokyo. However, the young boy didn’t know that a family in Kagoshima also made a decision like his case. Coincidently that family happened to be Watanabe’s new neighbor. When Yuuta’s parents had done with the relocating they brought some gifts to their new neighbor. The adults talked cheerfully to each other while Yuuta was hiding behind his mother’s leg. He didn’t go to nursery school and stayed home reading books alone in his room. As being isolated from society he was shy toward. He wore his reading glasses despite he could see things clearly without them, but he preferred it.
The neighbor noticed his shy presence, smiling and praising him.
“Is this little boy your son, Watanabe-san? He looks so bright and cute.” The female neighbor exclaimed.
“Yes, his name is Yuuta. He doesn’t have many friends so he’s pretty shy.” Yuuta’s mother replied softly.
“Oh really? Poor little boy… Oh I know. Maybe he can play with our daughter. I’m sure both of them will have fun with each other.”
“I’m sure Yuuta will be glad to have a new friend, right Yuuta?” His mother smiled to him. He just nodded lightly and clung on his mother more tightly.
“Don’t worry Yuuta-kun~ Yukirin is a nice girl. She won’t scare you.” The male neighbor finally spoke as his wife called out for the aforementioned girl.
“Yukirin, come out here. I want you to meet our new neighbors.”
“Hai~” A soft high-pitched voice answered, followed by rushing footsteps. The little girl quickly ran from her room toward the door. Seeing the unfamiliar adults standing in front of her parents, she quickly bowed at them and greeted them politely. “Hai. My name is Kashiwagi Yuki desu~”
“Hello Yuki-chan, it’s nice to meet you.” Yuuta’s mother greeted as she softly pushed Yuuta forward to meet the new girl. “And this is our son, Yuuta. I hope you and Yuuta can be friends.”
Yuuta wouldn’t let go of his mother’s dress, burying his head deeply to the cloth. He was too shy to face the newcomer so he tried his best to avoid eye contacts. Few seconds passed and nothing happened. He thought the girl had left already so he turned his head around, only to be surprised by a smiling face that was only an inch apart from his. He jumped backward and hid behind his mother again. The raven hair girl giggled and offered her hand to the boy.
“Don’t be scare. I won’t bite. I’m Kashiwagi Yuki, but you can just call me Yukirin. Let’s be friend, Yuuta-kun~”
The little girl gave the shy boy her radiant smile, making Yuuta’s shyness fade away. Slowly, and hesitantly, he reached out for Yuki’s hand, and softly took a hold of it. For the first time, Yuuta knew how soft and warm a person’s hand could be.
From that day, Yuuta and Yuki always played with each other at the park. At first, Yuuta was still shy toward Yuki. But eventually, Yuki managed to get rid of that troublesome and got Yuuta to talk to her more. That time, she knew that Yuuta was two years younger than her and he hadn’t gone to school. Yuuta looked confused as Yuki told him about how school could be and how many friends she could make. Influenced by Yuki, Yuuta, for the first time, asked his parents to let him go to school. At first, his parents were hesitant when they knew he was intelligent enough to go to middle school at his age. But he convinced them to let him study with other children in his age; and of course to study in the same school with Yuki. Therefore, in the end, Yuuta’s parents allowed him to go to the same school with Yuki. They thought Yuuta would make more friends besides Yuki. However, they were wrong.
Eventually, Yuuta became the target of the bullies in his school because of his nerd appearance. He didn’t get any new friends and yet he got bullied. However, he didn’t say anything about that to his parents. The only one who knew about it was Yuki. When they played at the park during weekends, Yuki asked him why he didn’t tell the adults that he was bullied in the school. And why didn’t he fight back?
“If I fight back, they’ll bully me more. And if I tell my parents, they won’t allow me to go to school anymore. And I won’t see Yuki anymore.”
That was his answer. Yuki couldn’t say anything else and kept calling him “baka cyborg”. That nickname stuck with him for the rest of his life. Yuki called him cyborg because of his blank poker face when she saw those bullies bullied him, like a real robot boy. Yuuta didn’t change much until a year later. In a Sunday morning, Yuki and Yuuta were playing at the usual park near their houses. It would be just another ordinary day if Yuuta’s bullies didn’t show up and picked on him again. Those boys were in the same grade with Yuki. And physically, Yuuta was smaller than them so he became an easy target to bully. Moreover, Yuki was popular among her school for her princess-like look and her gentleness. Therefore, seeing Yuuta was with Yuki, the bully boys wouldn’t let him go so easy. They insulted him in front of Yuki; when they received no resistance from Yuuta, they just kept saying more bad words toward him. Yuuta looked down, completely ignored them. Until…
One of the boys took a hold of Yuki’s hand as she was defending for Yuuta. The boys insisted Yuki to go play with them, forgetting about the weakling Yuuta. And of course, Yuki rejected. However, the boys kept asking her, pulling her arm violently; eventually, they hurt Yuki. The girl cried painfully but it seemed that the boys didn’t bother that. Seeing Yuki’s tears, the usual calm and cold boy felt his blood boiled in anger.
“Let her go. Don’t you dare to hurt her!”
He shouted and fought for the first time. He ran to the group of boys, landing fists and shoes on the older boys. For the first time, he fought. At the age of six, Yuuta had his first fight. And it was not for his safety or his pride. He fought for Yuki. He couldn’t take it when he saw his friend crying in front of her. So throwing away his cyborg side, he fought for his precious friend. And of course, with smaller body and weaker strength, he couldn’t match with four bigger boys and ended up getting beaten badly. The bullies only went away when Yuki threatened them that she would call her parents and caught them. When the boys were out of sight, Yuki quickly sat beside the lying boy and checked on his injuries. Yuuta hid his face under his bang, not wanting to face Yuki as he had failed to protect her. Yuki could only see his fists shaking and the ground was soaked by his tears. She never saw Yuuta cry before. Even though she couldn’t see Yuuta crying face because of his hair but his tears were enough for Yuki to feel guilty.
“I’m sorry, Yukirin… I’ll become stronger… so that I can protect you. I promise I’ll become stronger… I’ll protect no matter what.”
That was his vow to Yuki. Even though Yuki told him that she didn’t blame him for anything but he couldn’t forgive himself. So he once again, begged his parents to let him learn martial arts. Since that time, Yuuta built up his body strength and learned martial arts every day, in order to make himself stronger. Eventually, after a year of learning, no one dared to bully him anymore after he successfully beat them with ease. However, he wouldn’t stop training himself to become stronger since his goal in the beginning was to protect Yuki, not to take his revenge. His friendship with Yuki grew stronger through time. They shared everything, from little secrets to bigger ones. They couldn’t be separated by anyone, except for destiny.
After Yuki graduated from elementary school, her family moved back to Kagoshima due to her parents’ jobs. Hearing that, Yuuta was upset but he still put up his smile in front of Yuki on the day she flew. In the airport, Yuki knew he was sad about the fact that they wouldn’t meet each other anymore. She hugged the shorter boy and comforted him.
“I don’t want to leave you, Yuuta-kun. But I couldn’t help it. It’s my parents’ jobs so I can’t do anything about it. I’m sorry.” She said in teary voice.
“It’s fine, Yukirin.” The boy embraced Yuki and patted her head lightly. “We’re always friends, no matter what happens. You told me that before, remember?”
“Yes, I do. I won’t forget that, ever.”
“OK… so… um… before you go, I have something for you…” The boy scratched his head shyly as he searched for something in his pocket. Yuki looked confusingly at the boy until he pulled out a pair of necklaces; with a silvery bird that spreading its wings. On each bird, Yuki’s and Yuuta’s name was engraved. Yuuta took Yuki’s hand and put the bird with his name onto her hand. “Here is my present for you. These birds are called lovebirds. They represent for eternal relationship, just like our friendship. I want you to keep one of them so we’ll never forget each other.”
Yuki stared at the necklace in her hand for a while. Then finally, she smiled to Yuuta and wore it on her neck. Later, she embraced the boy tightly, letting her tears soak the blue T-shirt.
“Thank you for being my friend, Yuuta-kun. I’ll cherish this necklace with all my heart.”
Yuuta smiled weakly, trying to hold back his tears. He couldn’t let himself be weak in front of Yuki. They stayed like that for a while before Yuki’s parents called for her to leave. Reluctantly, Yuki let go. But before she left, she quickly planted a kiss on Yuuta’s cheek.
“We’ll meet again, Yuuta-kun. Sayonara.”
“Um. Sayonara.”
Yuuta bid a goodbye to Yuki and watched the girl disappeared behind the glass doors. He stood there, like a statue. He was lost and confused. For the first time, there was something that the genius Yuuta didn’t know. The boy wouldn’t understand why his heart went doki doki after that kiss on his cheek. He would never know until he was finally grown up.

Six years later, Yuuta has grown into a handsome 15-year-old guy. His black spiky hair was a little longer than six years before. He still wore glasses but his face looked more matured and manly. Despite of his short height, his body was well-built and with more than 10 years of learning martial arts, no one would ever dare to pick a fight with him. On a day of spring, he and his best friend from middle school, Matsui Jurina, went to their new high school. Yuuta didn’t skip class as he wanted to learn more from school even though his grade was more than enough to allow him to go to university. His parents tried to convince him but they failed. They didn’t know that he didn’t want to skip since he needed more time to wait for someone.
Wearing the new uniform of his school, dark blue blazer and pants, with the top button of his white shirt was unbuttoned and his red-blue striped tie was loose, the silver bird, engraved with the word of “Yuki”, shone under the sunshine when he walked to the schoolyard. He always wore the necklace, even in the bathroom. He never took it off since he was so afraid of losing his childhood friend, Kashiwagi Yuki. After the day of Yuki’s flight, he wrote letters to Yuki and so did she to keep in touch. They still talked to each other, about Yuki’s new school and friends. It went on for a year before Yuki stopped answering his letters. Every letter he sent her would be returned back to him. For a simple reason, they had moved again. The address that Yuki gave to him belonged to someone else. He tried to ask the current owner if they knew where the Kashiwagi family moved. But to his disappointment, they didn’t know. However, he didn’t lose his hope. Treasuring the necklace, he knew Yuki would never leave him for any reason. Therefore he told himself to wait for her; even it had to be forever.
“Oi, Yuuta-kun. Can you please put your necklace back inside your shirt? It’s hurting my eyes.” Jurina, a shoulder-length raven hair girl, complained beside the guy, who was an inch taller than her. She was wearing black shirt, covered by white blazer with dark blue lines on the lapel, dark blue miniskirt and red ribbon on her collar.
“Fine.” Replied shortly, Yuuta did what the girl said to him and kept his infamous cyborg attitude.
“And stop with that I-don’t-care expression. We’re in high school now. You won’t get new friends with that face.”
“Who said I want new friends?”
“Oh~ So you only want me for yourself? How cute, Yuuta-kun~”
Jurina smirked and tried to kiss Yuuta but only met up with Yuuta forceful hand.
“Get away from me before your boyfriend sees us. I don’t want to get hit on the first day.”
“Mou. You’re no fun.” Jurina pouted. “But I’ll still introduce you to Ren-kun. You and him will be great friends, believe me.”
“Yeah yeah, whatever.” Yuuta replied coldly.
“Come on, we’re in the same class. Let’s go to the ceremony first.”
The energetic girl quickly pulled Yuuta forward by his hand. The boy just sighed, letting the girl to drag him away. After all, Jurina was the only friend he had for now. When he lost contact with Yuki, he just entered middle school. In class, he was a loner. He talked to no one and vice versa. Even though he had a good looking face but with his cold attitude and nerdy look, no one wanted to make friend with him, except one. On a beautiful day, when Yuuta was reading his book on his seat, suddenly a person slammed his table, causing him to look up with a little surprise.
“You’re Watanabe Yuuta, right? My name is Matsui Jurina. Let’s be friend~”
That was how Yuuta became Jurina’s friend. Just like that. Her straightforwardness reminded him of a certain girl back to his childhood, although Jurina and Yuki were completely different. Yuki was polite, gentle, feminine, sometimes can be scary when she was angry but overall, she was a real princess. One the other hand, Jurina was completely opposite. She was energetic and athletic, clingy like a puppy, and a little boyish. However, they had something in common. They treated Yuuta in the most sincere way. For three years of his middle school, Jurina was his only friend. They were classmates, partners in every subject and event. Since Jurina and Yuuta were good at sport and study, they became the invincible duo. They were so close to each other that the students thought they were a real couple. But the truth was something that only the duo knew.
Between Jurina and Yuuta was just sincere friendship, nothing more. Jurina knew for sure Yuuta already had someone in his heart, probably the owner of the name engraved on his necklace. However, she didn’t know who it was since Yuuta refused to tell her. Furthermore, Jurina already had a boyfriend, named Matsui Ren. They shared the same surname but they weren’t related. Ren was two years older than Jurina and Yuuta, and currently studied in Tokyo Gakuen, where both Jurina and Yuuta just enrolled. Somehow, in the senior year of middle school, Jurina just came to Yuuta and announced that she had a boyfriend, who was studying in Tokyo Gakuen. And with that, she convinced Yuuta to enroll to that school with her. Yuuta had no idea when and how the double Matsui, what he called them, hanged out with each other and why he had to go to the same school with Jurina. But on the second thought, it would be easier for him if he studied in the same school with Jurina since he wouldn’t have to make new friends and so on. And that puppy was begging with pleading teary eyes beside him, he had no other choice and finally agreed.
Therefore, now they had become new students of Tokyo Gakuen. After the first morning class was the lunch time, also the time for club recruitment. Jurina and Yuuta walked together along the hallway, receiving some whispers, even screams from the girls about how cool Yuuta was. As usual, Yuuta didn’t bother that. He ignored them and followed Jurina. His cold attitude didn’t shoo the fangirls away. In fact, the girls just fell for him more.
“Wow, you already get your fan club on the first day of school. Nice work, Yuuta-kun.” Jurina teased.
“They’re bad-mouthing at you. They think you’re my girlfriend. Should you be upset about that?” Yuuta raised an eyebrow.
“Hmm… Not at all. We used to be called couple back in middle school right? I’m used to it. Besides, I have Ren-kun already~”
“Tell that to them. This is annoying.” The boy let out a sigh.
“Welcome to high school, boy. Eventually, you’ll find your girl.”
“Not my concern. By the way, where are we going?”
“To the soccer field. Ren-kun is in the male soccer club. You used to be in the soccer team in middle school, right?” Jurina gave out her mischievous smile.
“I know what you’re thinking, Jurina. The answer is no. I want to try something else, like karate club.”
“Oh come on. You’re the master of karate already. Why do you want to join the karate club anyway? The upperclassmen in that club will surely pick on you since you’re way better than them. And besides, don’t waste your talent. I saw you play soccer before. It was awesome. Ren-kun said they are lacking of good players since the seniors just graduated so you’re what they need.”
“Do I look like I care? No.”
“Yuuta-kun, please~ I’m begging you. Do it for your best friend, please.” With that, Jurina used her famous puppy eyes on Yuuta. It had no effect on Yuuta but to have that girl walking beside him like that, it was really annoying.
“Fine, fine! Stop that. Geez. You gave me goose bumps.”
“Even the cold cyborg can’t win against my puppy power.” Jurina exclaimed happily and dragged the boy toward the soccer field faster, ignoring the defeat sigh coming from his lips.
Soon later, they reached their destination. As soon as they arrived, a series of cheers and screams welcomed them. Looking at each other confusingly, Jurina and Yuuta slowly entered the field. Right in front of them was a match of soccer among the members of the club. On the audience seat rows were no other than the fan girls of the members, screaming and cheering for their favorite players.
“Sae-sama! Sae-sama! You’re so cool!”
“Ren-sama is on fire! Oh my god! He’s so hot!”
Looking at those crazy fan girls, Jurina let out a small chuckle when Yuuta looked at her in disbelief.
“You aren’t mad?”
“Huh? Why should I?” Jurina asked back while smiling at him.
“Those girls are your boyfriend’s fans. Shouldn’t you be jealous?”
“Well, they are just fans so they have their rights to cheer for him. But of course that doesn’t mean I’ll allow them to touch him.”
“Sou…” Yuuta quickly shrugged it off as he could feel deathly aura coming from the girl besides him. He kept his eyes on the match, observing the members. To his impression, the club had few excellent members. “That number 5, the central defender, is good.”
“Oh number 5?” Jurina looked around to find the number 5 player that Yuuta was talking about. “Ah! It’s Ren-kun! Yeah he’s one of the aces of the team and the vice-captain. The steel shield is what they call him.”
“I can see why.” Yuuta was impressed by Jurina’s boyfriend. He was a really talent defender as no player could pass him to reach the goal, no matter how many times they tried. When he looked around more, the forward, who was wearing the captain roll, caught his attention with a skillful kick in the middle of the field and scored. “Hmm… The captain is pretty good too.”
“That’s Miyazawa Sae, the captain and also the ace of the team. He’s in the same class with Ren-kun. He’s popular among the girls. And Ren warned me to stay away from him since he is a player.”
“I think Matsui-san is right. You’re too easy to be played.”
“Oi! What is that supposed to mean?”
Jurina and Yuuta argued with each other, completely forgot about the match until it was over. They didn’t notice their surrounding since they were lost in their own battle. Not only until someone decided to stop them.
“Hey Jurina, you came!” For the distance, a low manly voice called for Jurina, catching her attention. She turned to the source and exclaimed happily as she ran toward the person and hugged him tightly.
“Ren-kun~ I miss you~”
“Yeah I know. Don’t hug me. Everyone is staring at us. And I’m all sweaty too.” Matsui Ren was a handsome tall guy, with short spiky black hair and white skin. He had a look of a Japanese prince and with his cool and mature attitude; many girls would die for him.
Yuuta’s sweats dropped as he stood there, watching his best friend hugging the guy who was a head taller than her in the middle of the field. The puppy didn’t realize that she was putting herself in danger as Yuuta heard the fan girls of Ren cursing her.
“Who is that girl hugging Ren-sama?!?!”
“Is it the freshman? What is she doing to my Ren?!?!”
“Oh please, stop daydreaming already. This is why I hate fan girls.” Yuuta thought. Few minutes later, he saw Jurina dragged the guy to his place and introduced them to each other.
“Ne, Ren-kun. This is Yuuta-kun, my best friend that I told you before. And Yuuta-kun, this is my boyfriend, Ren-kun~” Jurina quickly said.
“What?!!? Girlfriend?!?! She can’t be serious right?”
“No Ren-sama! I’m better than her! Please choose me!”
Ignoring the hopeless screams from the girls on the audience seats, Ren offered his hand to Yuuta and gave the boy a smile.
“I’m Matsui Ren. But you can call me, Ren. It’s nice to finally meet you. Thanks for taking care of my childish girlfriend.”
“No!!!! He confirmed that! My heart….”
“I won’t give up Ren-sama! I’ll make you fall for me!!”
Ignoring that again, Yuuta shook Ren’s hand in a polite way.
“The name is Watanabe Yuuta. But Yuuta is fine. And don’t worry about that. She’s not so hard to deal with, except for that puppy side.”
“Hahaha. You understand my pain.”
“Oi! You two!” Jurina punched Ren at his tummy, receiving back some apologies from the guys before the conversation continued.
“Anyway, I heard from Jurina that you used to be in soccer team in middle school, right?”
“The puppy always tells the truth.” Yuuta shrugged.
“Sou. Then what’s your position?”
“Forward. But I’m better as the midfielder.”
“Can you show me?”
“Sure.”
Ren smiled as Yuuta’s answer. He turned around and called for his teammates.
“Hey guys, pass me a ball!”
A guy in the team kicked a ball to Ren, who caught it with his hands. Then he gave it to Yuuta.
“Show us what you have, Yuuta.”
Yuuta held the ball in his hands and walked a little further from the couple, giving himself enough space for moving around. Not waiting for any signal, he let go of the ball then caught it perfectly on his left shoe. Holding for a second, he tossed it up and hit it with his forehead, letting it bounce on his head few times before falling on his feet again. This time, he kicked the ball over his head and landed behind him, only then to be kicked again with his right feet and land on his head. He kept it balance on his forehead for a few seconds before repeated from the start. For the whole time, he kept both of his hands in his pockets, making him look like he didn’t care if the ball fell off at all. But in more than five minutes, the ball never touched the ground for once. Ignoring the whisper of the girls, such as “Kakoi”, “he’s so cool”, Yuuta kept dancing with the ball. The members of the club were all watching him in awe as his skill got their attention. For Ren, he was satisfied. His girlfriend always told him the truth after all.
“See? I told you he’s good.” Jurina said to her boyfriend.
“You’re right. This guy’s talent is no joke.” Ren smiled.
“I know right? So what do think about having him in the team?”
“Having him in the team, this year championship is our for sure.” Ren clapped his hand to get Yuuta’s attention. “OK, Yuuta. You can stop now. Let’s go meet the captain.”
“OK.” Yuuta shortly replied. Making a final kick, he successfully sent the ball fly away and land into the basket of balls ten meters away from him. With that final shot, he received many applauds from the girls and the members.
Impressed by the show, the members of the soccer team surrounded Yuuta and praised him. The cyborg just kept his poker face and nodded at every compliment her received.
“Guys! Leave him some air to breathe.” The members quickly moved away as a voice spoke up. When the way was clear, Yuuta realized the owner of the manly voice before was the captain. With his muscular body and the height of a model, Yuuta understood why this guy was a girl killer. Who would escape from this perfect guy’s love trap? “You’re small but you have some real talent there, boy. My name is Miyazawa Sae, captain of the team. What’s yours?”
“Watanabe Yuuta.” Yuuta replied coldly, as he had no good impression about this guy. He didn’t like or hate him but basically, he didn’t care.
“Woah, tough boy. I like your attitude. OK then, Watanabe, are you interested in joining our team? We’ll make the best team out there.”
“What if I say I d-mmm”
“Yes he is interested, Miyazawa-senpai!”
Before Yuuta could finish his words, a hand covered his mouth and like a flash of light, Jurina answered for him. Yuuta looked at the girl besides him in disbelief but he didn’t resist anyway. He just didn’t care at all.
“Good. Then welcome to the team, Watanabe. By the way, are you his friend, cutie?”
“Get your hand off her, Sae. She’s mine!”
From behind the two freshmen, Ren shouted angrily at Sae as he stood behind Jurina and put a protective arm around her waist, making her blush lightly. But she knew she shouldn’t say anything now since Ren was seriously mad. He always turned to Gekikara mode whenever it came to her.
“Ok chillax, dude. I’m just kidding.” Sae raised his hands up. “I have a girlfriend too, you know.”
“Then keep your hand on your girlfriend only, not mine.”
“When it comes to love, everyone can be really scary huh?” Yuuta noted to himself. From what he saw, Ren really hated Sae despite of the fact that they were teammates, probably because of Sae’s playerness. Yuuta thought he would get along well with Ren since they had something in common.
“Hey, what’s going there?!? If the match is over then go wash yourself. Class will start in fifteen minutes.” Suddenly, a feminine voice interrupted the fierce stare battle between the two aces of the team. Right on time.
“Ah Yuki!”
“Yuki? Wait… don’t tell me… No, can’t be her. She can’t be in Tokyo without telling me.” Yuuta was shocked when he heard Sae called a name, a precious name that Yuuta hadn’t heard for a long time. But he quickly shrugged it off.
“What’s happening, Sae-kun?” He heard that voice again, so familiar.
“A freshman just joined our team. I saw his skill already. I guarantee he’ll help us to get the championship.”
“Really? Where is he?”
“Watanabe, come out here. The manager wants to see you.”
When Sae called, Yuuta just sighed then walked out of the crowd to meet the manager. But to his surprise, he met someone that he always wanted to meet again. Two pairs of shocking eyes met each other.
Long wavy brown hair.
White silky skin.
Flawless gorgeous face.
It was her.
“Yukirin/Yuuta-kun?!?!?!” Both of them exclaimed in disbelief. They said at the same time, surprising the whole club. No one could expect that their manager and the newcomer knew each other before, even Jurina didn’t know that.
“I can’t believe this… Why… How…” Yuuta was really confused. He was happy to see Yuki again but also had many questions about her presence.
“Yuki, you know Watanabe?” Decided to interrupt their meeting, Sae asked the shocking girl, who was covered her opened mouth with her hand.
“Ah… yes. He’s my childhood friend.”
“Why didn’t I hear anything about him from you before?” Sae raised an eyebrow.
“I didn’t have a chance to tell you. And I didn’t expect that he would study in the same school with me.”
“OK, since it seems that you guys haven’t met each other for a long time, we will leave you two alone.” Suddenly, Ren interrupted and held on Sae’s shoulder to drag him away. “OK team dismisses. Go wash yourself and get back to class, guys. We’ll start the practice after school.”
“Oi Ren! Wait! What the…” Sae struggled to get away from Ren’s hold but failed since the guy was much stronger than him. Jurina smiled at Yuuta then followed Ren, leaving the two people alone on the field.
No one said a word. The awkward silence between them was unbearable. Yuuta didn’t know what to say to Yuki after six years of separation. There were many questions that he wanted to ask the girl, but they were all trapped in his throat. Where had she been? And why was she back to Tokyo without telling him?
“Anou…” Finally, Yuki decided to break their heavy atmosphere. “I know I have many things to explain to you so… can we find a seat first?”
“… Sure.”
The two of them found a chill place under a big sakura tree and sat down, staring emptily at the soccer field. It had been a long time since the last time Yuuta felt the presence of Yuki next to him. He missed this feeling. It was peaceful, something that he would never feel with anyone else.
“Anou… where should I start…”
“You can start with your condition now. How are you? You changed a lot since the last time I saw you.” Yuuta quickly answered.
“Yeah, I guessed I did. Puberty changes us a lot. You look different too. When we were young, I was always the taller one but now, you’re taller than me.”
“I’m a boy after all. I should have my pride, you know. Although, I’m still a midget comparing to other guys, like Ren-senpai or Miyazawa-senpai.”
“But you’re still smart and talent as usual. Many people will have to look up at you.”
“I’m not… I can’t be myself without you…” Yuuta said softly.
The two let silence surround them again. Suddenly, Yuuta felt shy again, like the time when he first met Yuki. He didn’t dare to look at her in the eyes. Maybe it was because of the past years, Yuki changed her appearance a lot so Yuuta was shy to meet her new self.
“I missed you, Yuuta-kun… really. You don’t know how happy I was when I received your letters in Kagoshima. But my father lost his job so I have to move again without telling you, and at the same time I lost your address so I couldn’t write to you. And when I entered high school, I moved to Tokyo with my father. I tried to find your old house but your neighbor said you had moved to another address. Those five years were really lonely. I met new friends, but none of them could give me the same feeling that you gave me. I prayed every day for a chance to meet you again. When I saw you a while ago, I was really glad and happy to see you again.” Yuki looked at the shy boy and told her story with a smile, the smile that Yuuta had missed for a long time.
“Yukirin…” Finally gaining his courage, Yuuta looked at the girl, his childhood friend, and someone that was so precious to him. “I missed you too. I was so worried when I lost contact with you. I couldn’t find you since I had no idea where you were. But that doesn’t matter anymore. Now we’re back together again.” Yuuta smiled gently.
“Yeah, we are.” Then Yuki leaned forward to embrace the boy. A pair of strong arms wrapped around her body and pushed her closer to the other person. Yuuta allowed himself to enjoy the warmth. He missed this so much. He didn’t remember how long he had been waiting to enjoy Yuki’s warmth again. It was old but also new to him. Something was building inside his heart.
Reluctantly, Yuki let him go with a pout. “What are you wearing inside your shirt? It’s pointy and hard.”
“Ah, you mean this?” As he was saying, Yuuta took out the necklace that he had been wearing for six years from inside his shirt.
“Eh?? You still keep it?” Yuki gave out her overreacting reaction.
“Of course I do. I was the one who gave you this after all. Do you still keep it?”
“Always.” Yuki pulled out the same bird from her uniform shirt, but there was a word of “Yuuta” engraved on it. “I think because of these birds, we’re able to see each other again.”
“Yeah, I think so.”
“Hey, Yuki. Class is about to start.”
From the distance, Sae shouted Yuki’s name. The girl smiled to the guy and quickly put the necklace back into her shirt.
“Sorry, Yuuta-kun. I have to go now.”
“It’s fine. I have to go back to my class anyway. Just go, Miyazawa-senpai is waiting for you.” Yuuta felt a little disappointed but he cheered himself up since he was studying the same school with Yuki now. He would have another chance to be with her. Furthermore, he was in the soccer team now, and Yuki was the manager. He got plenty of time with her.
“OK. See you later, Yuuta-kun. I’m really happy to see you again.”
With that, Yuki stood up and ran to Sae. Holding their hands together, she smiled to Sae and walked with him back to the campus. She didn’t notice a hint of sadness on the poker face of Yuuta, who just saw how she smiled to the guy. A faint smile hovered over the dried lips of the boy. He quietly went back to his class, enjoyed the loneliness. Somehow, he wanted to have the annoying puppy beside him at that moment. Maybe her childish presence would soothe the pain in his heart.
“The curse of lovebirds is true after all.”
Yuuta said softly, letting every single word from him fade away like a blow of the wind.

“I didn’t know that Kashiwagi-senpai is your childhood friend, Yuuta-kun. Why didn’t you tell me?”
Jurina skipped around the cold boy, who was focusing on the book in his hand while walking ahead. The two of them were on their way home since their houses were in the same neighborhood. For some reasons, the upperclassmen in the soccer team had a meeting so Yuuta was free from practicing. Since Ren had to stay back for the meeting, he let her go home with Yuuta. The cyborg boy was the only person he could entrust his girlfriend to.
“You never asked.” The boy replied coldly, without looking away from his book.
“I did but you didn’t answer me.”
“You didn’t know her face anyway so why would I bother to tell you?”
“I did! She’s really popular in our school since the time she was just a freshman like us. She has been Ren-kun’s classmate for three years so of course I knew her face back then. Ren-kun showed me her picture. If you had told me about her, maybe you would have met her earlier than this.”
Yuuta looked at the pouting puppy in front of him then said in mono tone.
“Do you know her relationship with Miyazawa-senpai?”
“Why do you ask something like that? Are you jealous?” Jurina smirked.
“Just answer me.”
“OK, OK. I’m just kidding. They’re dating. Ren-kun said they’ve been going out with each other for more than a year now.”
Pain. A bitter smile hovered over the pinky lips.
“For a player, it’s strange to date someone that long.” Yuuta dryly said.
“Ren-kun said the same thing. He’s really surprised that Miyazawa-senpai could date Kashiwagi-senpai for more than a month. Maybe it’s because of her popularity or her beauty. Honestly, I’m jealous of her pretty face and that perfect body.” Jurina shrugged . “But Ren-kun is sure that they won’t last for long. There is no one can stop Miyazawa-senpai to go sleep with different girls.”
“… So they have slept with each other huh?” Yuuta lifted up a corner of his lips, forming a mysterious smirk.
“No. Ren thinks that it’s the reason why Miyazawa-senpai stays with her that long. He hasn’t touched her yet. Must be Kashiwagi-senpai hasn’t allowed him.”
Yuuta let out a relieved sigh. “Wait… Why should I be relieved of that? It’s not like I have a chance…” Yuuta quickly shook his head then went back to read his book.
Seeing the strange reaction of her best friend, Jurina noticed something. Scratching her chin, she knew her cyborg friend was hiding something, something that made him suffering. But she wasn’t sure yet. She needed more time and more evidence to understand Yuuta’s feeling. If what she thought was real, then she would feel sorry for her best friend.
One-side love was never sweet.
