Kansas sets minimum age to 15 (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12644597/?GT1=8199)
All I can say is, dude...

a pregnant 14-year-old from Nebraska drove to Kansas last year to marry her 22-year-old boyfriend
...and the article says her mother was ok with that? *head explode*

On Thursday, the Kansas House voted 119-0 to approve a bill that would prohibit anyone under the age of 15 from marrying in Kansas and would set strict limits for would-be brides or grooms under the age of 18. The Senate approved it a day earlier, 36-4.
What I want to know is, what the fuck is up with the four state senators that voted against it? :-o

It's easy to assume that a no vote means they're condoning marriages at a very young age. I don't think that's the case. MY guess is that they wanted the limit to be higher than 15, but couldn't get agreement on that. They probably knew the motion would pass, so to show their disagreement with the age limit, they voted no -- not because they want under 15 year-olds to get married, but because they wanted to stop marriages below ages of 16 or 17 or 18.

I'm actually thinking the other way, I'm sure they knew it's going to be passed, I just think they are the ultra-conservative types that were thinking "Why bother changing it? It's working fine.", dinosaurs that think they are making a statement.
