Last Memory of You
“You’re quite a busy-body these past few days Sae-chan.” Yuko said as she took a sip from the tea that’s getting cold. Yuko doesn’t really like hot things, since they make her tongue burn. Except for hot girls that is.
“Un, I’ve been doing this little project for quite some time now, and I think I need your opinion about it.” Sae said, standing up from her seat. She rushed towards her room to get that ‘little project’ leaving Yuko alone.
Yuko, being best friends with Sae since childhood, knows that something is bothering the other girl. These days, where they would usually hang out with their other bestfriend – Sayaka, have turned into normal days where Sae would lock herself in her house. Sae would say that she’s okay, and that she’s just busy with some project but Yuko knows, that definitely, there’s more into it.
It has started ever since Sayaka called the two of them one midnight, to happily announce that her longtime boyfriend has proposed to her, and now they’re getting married. It has been exactly 4 months since that event happened and only 6 months more, before the wedding will occur. At first, everything was normal, but then, Sae started to be a busy body with a certain project. Yuko understands how Sae feels, the three of them have been best friends since childhood after all, and having one of them married and go on with her life, feels nostalgic.
“You know, it’s not as great as you do but I put an effort into making this.” Sae said while carefully lifting the small board like thing. Sae placed it at the top of a supporter, as if displaying it for an art exhibit.
“S-Sae-chan…” Yuko said, astonished with the masterpiece that she is seeing. She stood from her seat and went closely to the unfinished painting, and examined every detail there is. The painting showed Sayaka with a bright smile on her face, Yuko knows that to make a painting as beautiful as this one must have this inspiration called Love.
“That’s gift for her wedding. Though it would be much more if only you helped me.” Sae said as she placed a white cloth on the painting for protection.
“You know that I don’t paint anymore Sae-chan, besides I’ll be her personal photographer for the wedding – and that’s for free.” Yuko said smiling. “And I won’t be able to paint something as beautiful as that. My hands are already rusty.”
“So that’s why you’re being a busy-body huh.” Yuko said grinning, but with a sad look on her face. Now she understands the reason behind this. If only…
“Un,” Sae nodded, taking a sit.
“Best of luck with you and that painting. Spend time with us sometimes, Don’t forget about my exhibit next next month.” Yuko said as she fixed her things, preparing herself to go.“And Sae-chan, You can tell me anything. I mean, we’re friends for like 20 years already.”
“I can’t believe I managed to survive those 20 years.” Sae joked, “Ah, Yuko, let’s keep things a secret okay.”
“Okey Dokey,” Yuko nodded. She knows that Sae knows that she now knows her secret. Not the painting but about the person being painted itself. “I guess I should go now, I still need to capture more babies for my exhibit Jaa ne, Sae-chan.”
“Jaa.”

“Tadaima~” Yuko said as she got out of her car’s door. Anywhere that has a good view for her is already ‘home’. And here, where you can see the sunset, is her favorite ‘home’. She adjusted her camera’s lenses, ready to capture the beautiful sight, but as she clicks her camera, the outcome is different from what her eyes see.
“Nande kore?” Yuko said, trying to capture the sight again, but the same result occurred. She tried to capture the moment of two couples being lovey dove with the sunset as their background, but still, it’s no good.
Yuko reminded herself to not panic since things like this always occur. Places that are beautiful in the eyes don’t have the same effect on cameras. Yuko had the urge to paint the scene, but she told herself to stop. Painting is something she has long forgotten.
And there, on Yuko’s verge of losing hope, did she see a beautiful girl who’s looking at the sunset with a face that’s hard to read for its full of loneliness, but also hope. With this, Yuko positioned her camera again and captured the moment of the girl. Unfortunately, the camera ran out of batteries.
“Shit.”
Why do these things have to happen? Yuko looked at her camera and then to the girl. She rushed to her car to get spare batteries. She used all her might to move as fast as she can, the batteries weren’t there. Yuko sighed. Bad timing.
Then, she went back to where she saw the beautiful girl, but she saw none.
“I should’ve at least gotten her name.”
New Story :nervous though it will be quite short LOL. the plot have been hanving in my mind for quite some time XD so... Comments/Suggestions/Criticisms are always open.
Chapter 2
“And that’s how it went.”
Yuko sighed as she placed her head on the table in front of her. She kept on talking to Sayaka and Sae about the incident that happened yesterday. There’s something about the beautiful girl that Yuko can’t forget. Either it’s because she’s frustrated that she wasn't able to capture a scene beautiful enough for an exhibit or because she let the beautiful girl go without even getting her name.
But despite of all these, Yuko is happy that Sae took her advice about hanging out with them again, taking a break from her project. After the marriage thing that will be happening soon enough, even though they won’t admit it implicitly, things would change. Sayaka will be busy with her family, why she and Sae will continue their life, so they should spend the remaining time as single-best friends together happily.
“Talk about bad-lucks,” Sayaka commented, Yuko just gave another sigh.
“Don’t worry you’ll see her again!” Sae said positively, “Why don’t you try going back to that place? Who knows, she might be waiting for you too.”
“I don’t know. My exhibit will be on the next next month and I should be polishing my babies now. But I’m stucked. Ugh, I need inspiration.”
“Stop whining Yuko. Just what are you really disappointed about? The exhibit or the girl?” Sayaka teased. “You’re weak with beautiful ladies,”
Yuko raised an eyebrow at her friend, “Actually I’m not, I don’t care about love at all. People come and go. I can always find another beautiful girl with the sunset, and click my camera.”
“H-Hey Yuko! The girl you’re talking about… She’s tall and really flawless and looks like a model right? Isn’t that her?!” Sae said seriously, pointing at the direction of Yuko’s back.
Yuko immediately stood up and began searching, “Where? Where?”
Sayaka and Sae chuckled at the sight.
“See?”
“Sae-chan Bakaaaaa!!!!” Yuko said furiously,
“You’re always like that, acting so tough and mighty. You should grow Yuko. Literally and figuratively.”
“Preach Sae.” Sayaka commented hitting Sae’s head lightly.
“Mou, Sae-chan you always say cool things.” Yuko said pouting, “I want to be cool to.”
“Well, you have abs Yuko.” Sae joked.
“We all have abs,” Sayaka said.
“Too bad, you won’t be able to maintain it. Your honey-bunch is so protective he doesn’t even want you to lift things.” Sae teased. Yuko flinch at the joke, this is the first time that she heard Sae talking about Sayaka’s honey-bunch and even joking about it. It seems funny on the outside, but something more in the inside.
“Eto, are you sure you’re the girl in your relationship?” Yuko seconded, “I mean, you’re manlier than your honey-bunch.”
“Jeez guys, stop calling him honey-bunch. And you should try hanging out with him, he’s cool.” Sayaka defended.
“But you call him honey-bunch, why can’t we?” Yuko said.
“Our Sayaka is being greedy,” Sae said.
“Quit it guys. Oh wait, a message.” Sayaka said, opening her phone. It looks like she got a message from Nakai, her fiancé, telling her that he won’t be able to make it.
They’re supposed to choose a wedding dress today, but due to some circumstances, Sayaka will fit her wedding gown alone.
The other two noticed the change in Sayaka’s mood. Yuko wanted to ask what’s wrong, but she decided to let Sae ask it instead.
As if Sae knows what inside Yuko’s head, she made the first move, “What’s wrong?”
“Nakai-kun won’t make it today.” Sayaka said, trying to smile. “We’re supposed to pick my wedding gown…We can’t cancel our appointment so I guess I’ll go alone.”
“Oh…” Yuko said grinning, “Well, I know somebody who’s not busy today and can go with you there,”
“Honto?” Sayaka and Sae said in unison.
“Yup, Sae-chan ~” Yuko announced cheerfully.
“EH?!” Sae said in a surprised voice.
“Well as much as I’d like to go with the two of you, I need to bet my luck to get my camera clicking on the chick yesterday.” Yuko said, “Aaand, So I go ~ Jaa ne,”
Upon saying that, Yuko stood from her seat and tapped Sae’s back. Sae looked at her, wondering what’s going on with her friend’s mind.
“Sae?” Sayaka asked, “It’s okay if you can’t go…”
“No, Actually I’d love to!” Sae said, forcing a smile. She doesn’t want to see a disappointed face of Sayaka again. Besides, it has been a long time since they went out with just the two of them. This won’t hurt right?
Yabaii.
(*≧▽≦)ノシ)) (*≧▽≦)ノシ)) (*≧▽≦)ノシ)) (*≧▽≦)ノシ)) (*≧▽≦)ノシ))
“Tadaima~” Yuko said as she get out of the car. Her heart is beating fast. This is her last chance, If the beautiful girl is there, She’ll befriend her, ask for her name, and make her, her model. She looked at her clock; It’s about the same time when she went here yesterday, if her memory serves her right. She rushed to the spot where she saw the beautiful. And alas, the figure that she can’t forget is right in front of her eyes.
With her photographer instincts she tried to get the camera that’s supposed to be hanging in her neck but she found it to be not there. She looked down to check, just to find out that she left it in the car. Hell, how can she forget?!
“Aho! Aho! Aho!” Yuko said, lightly hitting her head. There she heard a chuckle directed to her.
The beautiful girl is laughing at her.
When she noticed that Yuko is looking at her, she tried to stop her laugh. On the other hand, Yuko is frozen to her feet, amazed at the sight of the girl laughing. It’s as if it’s the first time she saw a beautiful girl laugh.
“G-Gomenasai,” The beautiful girl said, bowing.
“It’s okay Eto… Ano… Don’t go away okay, I’ll be back. Please okay, stay there. Don’t leave.” Yuko rushed back to her car, she can’t believe the words that escaped her mouth. Why can’t she compose a properly structured sentence at a time like this?
Since her car’s parking is just around the corner, she managed to get back in a short period of time with two cameras (just in case) and batteries (for emergency purposes).
When Yuko got back, the beautiful girl is no longer standing where she last saw her. Yuko ran, trying to find her. But it’s not use. She went back to the original spot and said all the curse words she knows.
“Kuso!!!”
“M-Miss?” A girl patted her back, Yuko was about to curse her when she realize that it was the girl she’s looking for. “S-Sorry I had to go somewhere a while ago…”
“It’s okay. Ano, Sorry,” Yuko said, “Ugh I hate this.”
“Eh?”
“No, nothing I mean, I’m a photographer and I saw you yesterday here, and I wanted to take a picture of you but my camera’s battery became empty and now, I want to take a picture of you.” Yuko said straightly, making sure that the girl in front of her understood what she said.
The beautiful girl just chuckled.
“Eh?”
“W-well it’s rare for people to ask pictures of me. This is not some sort of a gag right?” The girl assured.
“No, of course not, I mean you’re beautiful. And I’ll be having an exhibit and If it’s okay, I want your picture in it.”
“T-then… Okay…”
“If it’s okay, can you stand there, and look at the sunset?” Yuko asked.
The girl positioned herself as if she’s natural in it. Yuko too, positioned her camera and focused on the girl’s face. After a long while, the things that Yuko’s eyes can see, was reflected on the camera’s shot. And Yuko was satisfied with the outcome.
“Thank you very much!” Yuko said, bowing.
“No problem, Didn’t know I would be of use…” The girl mumbled.
“I can send you the pictures if you want,” Yuko smiled, “You know… as a sign of thanks, maybe we should get dinner together? My treat.”
“T-that… I’m sorry, I have to go now.”
“C-chotto! What’s your name?” Yuko yelled, but unfortunately, the beautiful girl was too focused in getting away that she didn’t even look back. Yuko sat at the bench and took a look at the pictures she captured. While looking at the pictures, she heard an unfamiliar sound that seems to be familiar.
Doki… Doki… Doki…
“Yabaii.”
