A big thanks to yanouchi for making the cover art. Thank you so much :)
Yo mina-san
This idea came to me while listening to Fool Like Me by Cobra Starship (That's the title and if you like you can check it out). I have been thinking of this story since last month so I decided, well what the heck, might as well give it a try.
REMINDER This is my very FIRST fanfic, so it will probably suck hehehe. I'm still a beginner in terms of writing and I hope I can improve with your help. Give me your honest opinion/tips and if you don't like this fanfic, I can just pretend this never happen.
Well, wish me luck. :)
Without further ado, I give you Chapter I.
Enjoy

CHAPTER I From Old to New
“Honey, do you want some jelly bean?” A woman said from the passenger seat of a car as she waves the treats to the backseat.
“Hey Haruna, are you listening?” The woman trying to take the attention of her daughter who has her headphone plug in and eyes fixed in the window.
“Huh umm, no thanks. I’m not hungry” Haruna said sadly. After putting back her headphone, she continues to stare at the window. She just focus her full attention outside of the moving car as she tries to have one last look at her neighborhood.
‘Why would we move out of Saitama? All of friends are here and most importantly my life is here’ Haruna keeps thinking about her precious home. For her, this city will always be her home. This is where she belongs. She has spent her entire life here. This is where all of friends and memories are. And now, she would be leaving it all.
“Don’t worry Haru. I’m sure you will meet lots of new friends and you would enjoy our brand new home” Mr. Kojima looks in between the rearview mirror and the road. He tries to lift the spirit of her young daughter and gave her a genuine smile. Haruna keeps thinking about her friends back at Saitama. They grew up together and they are huge part of her life. She can still remember those long movie marathons and crazy sleep-over they always have. Hanging out with her group of friends makes her feel she belongs and saying goodbye to them is one of the painful things. And now she will have to make new friends. Haruna always have difficulty venturing outside of her group. She would only stick to them and feel awkward talking to someone she doesn’t know. A lot of things enter her mind, will she make friends? Will they like her? Will they accept her? Will it be okay?
Haruna sees her father giving her assurance, gave her a small smile in return. She can’t really blame her parents for moving. It’s not their fault. In fact, she should be proud of her father for earning a huge promotion. Her father was just given the promotion last month and this is a big opportunity to let it pass. The promotion would include their family to move to Maebaru, Fukuoka to become the head manager of a newly build manufacturing factory. After her father received the good news, he immediately went home and happily delivered the news. She can see her father truly proud of himself. After working hard for 8 years, it finally paid off. She can still remember how tired her father would come home late at night and he would always joke how it can drain every bit of his energy. No matter how tired he is, he would always come home with a smile on his face. Haruna is proud having such a wonderful father and tries to support him but it still hard for her to leave.
The hard-working father keeps on driving after receiving a smile from the tall girl. Mr. Kojima’s appearance has similarities with her daughter. He has a straight short dark brown hair with a few white hairs sticking out. He also has the same dark brown eyes like his daughter. Their height is only centimeters apart with Mr. Kojima as the tallest.
Beside Mr. Kojima, Mrs. Kojima quietly seats in the passenger seat. She looks a bit young for her age. She looks like in her early thirties but in reality she’s 43. She looks radiant and beautiful as always. The beautiful mother has silky long wavy brown hair that falls on her smooth face and a plum pinks lips that shines even without lipstick. Haruna knows that she is lucky to not only have a beautiful looking mother but also a caring and loving one.
Haruna stares at her parents. She knows that her parents are just doing what’s best for her. They didn’t mean to make her miserable with this decision but they have to look out for their family. Mr. Kojima is working hard to provide everything for his family while Mrs. Kojima is taking care of Haruna since she was little. They loved their only daughter from the bottom of their heart and want a bright future for her.
As the car drives towards the highway, a huge green sign can be seen telling the travelers that they are now leaving Saitama. Haruna looks closely at the sign knowing this would be goodbye.
-----------------
“Hey Haru, wake up. We’re here” Mrs. Kojima said. Gently shaking Haruna on the shoulders.
As Haruna slowly opens her eyes and stretch her arms, she can see a sign that says: “MAEBARU, FUKUOKA. POPULATION: 68,583”
“This is exciting. I hope our neighbor is nice and I wonder what kind of people I would be working with” Mr. Kojima can’t hide how thrilled he is. This meant to be a new start for the whole family, a chance for them to venture to a new place and discover new things. Seeing how happy her father is, Haruna just smiled and nod to her father.
The car continues to drive around the city. It was a simple looking city with trees and bushes surrounding it. Just like every other city, it has a city hall, public subway station, Movie Theater, commercial mall and other necessary things needed. The buildings look modernized. It has a mixed of suburban and a metropolitan feel to it and it is neither too big nor too small. The road are slightly decorated with small trees and a few street lights. They also passed by the manufacturing factory Mr. Kojima will be working. The big factory has a huge gray metal gate in front of a spacious yard. The big concrete building has four trucks park on the left side of the building.
“And this is where I would be working.” Mr. Kojima said as he slowly stops in front of the factory. The workaholic father stares proudly at the factory with awe.
“Ahh It’s amazing.” Mrs. Kojima puts a hand on her husband’s shoulder and stares proudly at him, showing her support. “Right, Haruna?”
“H-Hai” Haruna said as she takes off her head phone and stares at the factory.
“You deserved it, Dad.” Haruna shows her support to her father.
They were quiet for a few minutes as they stare at the huge factory.
“Now it’s time for us to go to our new home.”
-----------------
They have arrived around 5pm in the afternoon. Just in time before the sun sets. The car drives through a neighborhood in a street with multiple houses lined up. The houses pretty much look the same with a two story, white paint, and a green lawn but there are several differences in terms of style. The neighborhood gives a feeling of a nice community. You can see different kinds of people in the street; kids playing in the side walk, a middle-age man washing his car, a woman walking his dog and couple of people walking around.
As the car pulls over in a pavement, Haruna feels nervous. Thinking there’s no turning back now.
“And here we are, our new home.” The excited father said just before the car come to full stop.
“Um Haru, I know you don’t want to move in Fukuoka and leave your friends but….” Mr. Kojima said gently trying to ease her daughter. “I would like for you to give this place a chance and I’m truly sorry for doing this.”
“Dad, don’t say sorry. I know you been doing everything you can to provide for us and this is the result of your effort” Haruna doesn’t want to make her father feel bad for this decision. She turns to her father with a bright smile. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine and I’m proud of you”
“It might take me time to get use here though.” Haruna smiled to her parents.
“Yosh, now help me unload the moving trailer.” Mr. Kojima said to his family just before he exits the car and head towards the moving trailer. Mrs. Kojima soon follows her husband outside.
Haruna exits the car and stands in the sidewalk. She turns in front the beautiful two story house. It has been freshly painted white and has been freshly cut green grass in the lawn. The house has two stone pillars at the right side that supports a small balcony in the second floor. In the left side of the house; it has a brown car garage door while in the middle; it has a large brown wooden front door that has a small wooden porch. The house also has doubled-glazed glass windows.
“Will it be okay?” Haruna sighed deeply. As soon she finishes looking at her new home, she heads towards her parents and help them unload.
-----------------
“Hey, come on.” A young girl with a long black hair nudging a tall girl with short brown hair. “Here, take these rotten eggs, will make sure the principal will regret putting you in detention”
“Yeah, nobody mess with us.” A small girl said showing her dimpled squirrel-tooth smile. “Hey Mariko, what are you looking at?”
This seems to bring Mariko to reality as she stares at an unfamiliar girl standing from a newly occupied house with a puzzled look.
“Ah, it’s nothing. Call Miichan to meet us at the principal’s house” Mariko instructed to Yuko.
Mariko continues to stare at the unfamiliar girl who is now helping a man carry a huge box towards the house. ‘Who is she?’ Mariko thought to herself. She wonders to herself with a baffled look.
“Miichan said she’ll meet us there. Hey Jurina give some of the eggs” Yuko hangs up her phone and puts it back to her pocket. “This is going to be fun”
“Right, let’s go” Mariko walks with Yuko by her right side and Jurina by her left side. The three of them walk side by side with smiles on their faces and rotten eggs in their hands.
‘I don’t know why……” Mariko sneaks a peek again at the girl. ‘but there’s something about her. I can’t explain it’
