After many a year... Shinoda Mariko has announced her graduation from AKB48.
She did so at the AKB48 32nd Single Senbatsu Elections in her speech for placing 5th.
She said she'd like to graduate at the Fukuoka Dome concerts (which take place on 20/21 July 2013)

I was not so surprise about Mariko-sama decision...
Somehow I got the feeling she would announced her graduation soon enough...
After Tomochin and Kasai, etc... announcing their graduation...
I thought some of the original members would probably announcing their graduations...
Some more... Mariko-sama, she has her dreams being models and clothes designers...
She was also the 3rd rank of fashion leader...
Well Omedetto in your 5th Rank in General Election
And Congratulation in your graduation...

I can't believe it's soon. Now, the only first generation members left are Takamina, Kojiharu, and Miichan!

I think the one that is going to replace Mariko-sama would be Takamina again...
Because the only person with leadership quality in team A only Mariko and Takamina..
Mayu is the ace material not a leader material...
If you know what I mean...
Well Poor Takamina would have more responsible again after this...
Yeah... there are only No3b left as the original members...
I hope none of them graduate anytime soon...
If they were to graduate I think I would not see AKB anymore...
Because of Mendol I knew AKB... so they would be the reason for me not to see anymore.

well, right now i'm feeling confuse whether to feel happy or sad because she announce her graduation and she also rank in 5th place...
but, what ever happen she still one of the greatest member in akb ... :cathappy:

That's a good question actually. The only candidates I can think off are Takamina again and Yuihan.

Trivia: She graduated at age 27, the very same age Nakazawa graduated from Morning Musume.

Mariko-sama, Sado.... the reason I know and Follow AKB and Feel so lucky I was able to see her at PON! last year.. This Wed show will be one I will not miss.

I have to take off my hat to her for announcing the graduation and already given a (close) date to it. unlike some members that say "I'm graduating" and stay there for half a year like nothing happened and don't let you plan out your farewell and so.

昨日は日産スタジアムライブand総選挙でした、この日までにいろんなことを思い考えました。
Yesterday we had the LIVE at NISSAN STADIUM and the General Election, and until that day I’ve been thinking about many things.
1番は今まで支えてくれたファンの皆の顔が浮かびました。
The face of all those fans who’ve been supporting me ‘til now is the thing which came to my mind the most.
思い起こせばわたしはオーディションを受け落ちてカフェッ子からのスタート、ファンの皆の後押しでメンバーに加入、誰よりも自信もない同期もいない不安の中での自分は応援してくれる皆が支えでした。
If I remember it, I fell the audition and became a café-girl, and when I became a member I could get pushed by fans, and I had no confidence in myself more than anyone, there was no one of same age as me, and I could get supported and cheered while I was anxious and insecure.
正直初めから選抜ではないし人気でもない、自分なりにどうすれば皆に見てもらえるか一生懸命悩んで自分と向き合いながら自分を見つけてきました。
To be honest, since the beginning there wasn’t any Senbatsu and I wasn’t even so popular, I was worried in wondering what I could do in order to be seen by fans, working hard for this and I could find myself.
選抜でも背がでかいと後ろの端が多かった私は初の総選挙で三位になったことで一転、前で歌うことができました。
I could get 3rd place in my first General Election and I could be able to sing on the front.
はじめて見てもらえたような、気づいてもらえた認めてもらえたようなそんな気がしました。
I felt like I could be seen for the first time, I could be noticed, I could be acknowledged.
順位が全てではない、だけどそこから注目されるチャンスもあるんだということを去年のスピーチで伝えたかったです。
It’s not like the ranking is everything, it’s just that starting from that you can be noteworthy, that’s what I wanted to convey last year with my speech.
いつもわたしのことを考えてくれて時には意見もくれ、わたしのやることにYesとついてきてくれた皆、一人じゃないんだ、味方がたくさんいると、本当に支えられました。ＡＫＢ人生は辛いことも、悔しいこともたくさんあったけど、その何倍も楽しいことがあった八年間でした。
I really felt supported because of all times you’ve been thinking about me, all the times I could get opinions, all the times you’ve been following me and what I wanted to do with a “Yes”, I felt I wasn’t alone, I had many friends/allies with me. Living in AKB there have been many painful things and frustraiting things, but also countless enjoyable things for 8 consecutive years.
自分の中で、今回の総選挙は卒業する身としてではなく現メンバーとして正々堂々と戦いたかった。
For me, this time I announced my graduation in the General Election, but it was just as a current member who wanted to fight fair and square.
皆は優しからきっと最後で応援してくれたかもしれない。
Everyone are so kind so they might have been supporting me until the end.
だけど、それじゃあ去年の自分が意味のないものになってしまう。
But, in that case the me of one year ago became meaningless.
発表が急な形にはなりましたが、一年今日まで悩み、当日の後輩の勢いを見て決めました。
It became a sudden announcement, but I’ve been worrying about that for a year until today, and looking at junior members’ force I decided it.
麻里子コールされた時…正直悩んだよね（笑）
When you made that Mariko-choir call for me… To be honest, it troubled me (lol)
みんなに求められてる！！って思ったら「卒業なんて嘘～』って言いかけたけど（笑）
I was about to tell you “what graduation, it was just a lie～”, when I thought like “it was a request by everyone!!” (lol)
やっぱり居心地もいいし、わたしには何不自由ないAKBの活動、だけど、自分は荒波に揉まれながら自分らしく生きていけるんだと思います。
As I thought, the comfort is good as well, I had no inconvenience in AKB work, but I think I can survive on my own while catching up rough seas.
これからの方が大変かもしれませんが、私はわたしらしく自分のペースで頑張ります。
I think it might become hard for people now, but I will give my best on my own way and my own peace.
自分勝手な決断だとは思いますが、わたしの気持ちです。
I know it’s a selfish decision, but these are my feelings.
みんなになかなか会えなくなるのはさみしいから何か方法考えます（笑）
It’ll become gradually lonely to not be able to meet with everyone, so I’ll think about some manner (lol)
残り少ないＡＫＢ人生楽しみます(((o(*゜▽゜*)o)))

Thank you for posting this part of Mariko's blog...
Yeah... in her blog... I can feel that she wanted to graduate...
It's not that she did not like AKB anymore...
But she wanted to to follow her dreams....
Also with lots of kouhai around like Atsuko, she needed to provide a way or created changes in AKB
And she was troubled with lots of fans asking her not to graduate....
Well personally... I supported Mariko's decision to graduate...
Some more, I don't see lots of the 1st Gen. being promoted or shown in lots of AKB programs nowadays...
Especially Takamina, Mariko and Tomochin; compared to the recent Gen. members or the younger ones...

Think I said this a long time ago. Mariko was the first member that got my attention in AKB. Getting the back-middle spot in the formation for Skirt Hirari, she stood out crazy with her height.
Its great she's been around so long. Cool 'n loyal Sado in MG, that cafeteria challenge when losing dodgeball in AKBINGO, Ue Kara Mariko being awesome and one of the funniest songs in AKB, and that stare off with yankee-chara Moeno is gonna go down in AKB's "WTF just happened" Top 10 list forever.
Kinda funny. A few days before her announcement, I thought about the current kami8 and "How long can that Mariko dress up in a schoolgirl uniform". We all knew she's the oldest member and was totally ready to go do stuff. So its great she's been around longer then we guessed. She can go with a fashion career or a tv variety career, or whatever career with more than enough sparkle and experience.
Cheers to our one-and-only 1.5 gen for a great future~ :tama-music:

Been in hysteric, sad and can't think rationally these few days regarding Mariko-sama decision. She always has a special place in my heart, if only I knew her before Yuko, I believe she would be my kami-oshi. I knew that her graduation would be happen someday but not this year, not this soon and not this sudden. That was shocked me the most :cry: :cry:
But I have to believe in her. She's going to have a brighter future once she graduated. It's sad, of course, not to see this tall and gorgeous lady in AKB. I'll be really missing her interactions with the group. Will be missing her paparazzi shots, will be missing her making pairing for members. It's hurt but life must go on. I love Shinoda Mariko and I love AKB48. I'll be supporting both of them from now on.
Now let's prepare our heart (and tissues) to sent her off in Fukuoka Dome with big smile :')

On TBS's music program "Kayou-Kyoku!" which was live broadcasted on June 11th, AKB48 member Shinoda Mariko talked about her future activities after her graduation.
As we reported back on the 8th, Shinoda announced her graduation from the group next month while at the event for the vote count results for AKB48 32nd Single Senbatsu General Election, in which she was ranked 5th.
On the show, Shinoda explained that her activities after graduation will be mainly fashion related works, as she said, "Things I want to do started to change. I love fashion, and enjoy modeling."
When SMAP's Nakai Masahiro, who serves as the MC for the show, asked if she was willing to continue singing, Shinoda answered him with the comment, "I will not do any singing activity."
Shinoda will be graduating from AKB48 after the group's live concert at Fukuoka Yafuoku! Dome which is scheduled to be held on July 21st. However, since AKB48's 32nd single (title unknown) is set for release in August and Shinoda was ranked 5th place in the election, she is one of the Senbatsu members to sing the upcoming single.
Regarding the matter, she said that she would be participating in its music video, since the filming would be held this month, and would also be a part of other promotional activities until July 21st.

Ah... Sayaka is going to graduate on the first day of the Tokyo concert while Tomomi at the last day of the Tokyo concert...
So will they make a big ceremony like Atsuko's graduation or not for all three of them?

On July 22, the graduation performance for AKB48 member Shinoda Mariko was held at AKB48 theater in Akihabara, Tokyo. With this performance, Shinoda ended her 7 and a half years as a member of AKB48.
As it was Shinoda's final performance, applications for the viewing flooded in, and the lucky 250 fans who were elected, sent her their support until their voices became hoarse.
Yokoyama Yui who Shinoda appointed as the next team A captain, made a comment while looking back the memories with Shinoda, "I would like to make a team that Shinoda-san would think it was a right decision to appoint me. I will make the new Yokoyama team A while succeeding Shinoda team A, but please allow me to depend on you just today."
Along with the team A members including Takahashi Minami, other 1st generation members like Kojima Haruna, Itano Tomomi, and Minegishi Minami, as well as team K's Oshima Yuko showed up on the stage for the encore.
When they were about to perform Shinoda's graduation song "Namida no Seijanai", Takahashi could not sing the beginning part since she started shedding tears, and it also made Shinoda weep in sympathy. After the performance, Takahashi apologized to the audience, saying, "Sorry, it was all because I started crying.", and Kojima told Takahashi, "Yeah, it was kind of too early." Though the audience were sobbing at the time, the atmosphere changed because of those two, and it burst into laughter.
During the encore, there was also a segment where Takahashi read a letter from Shinoda's mother, and of course, large tears trickled down on Shinoda's cheeks again.
Shinoda has a very unique career for an AKB48 member, as she started working as a staff at a cafe in the AKB48 theater after she failed the 1st generation member audition back in 2005. Even though she was not a member, she still received high popularity among fans, and it caught the general producer, Akimoto Yasushi's attention. At the time, Akimoto set a term for Shinoda to join AKB48 in which she had to be able to remember and perform 12 songs in 4 days, and after meeting the condition, Shinoda became a member of AKB48 as the "1.5 generation member." Because of it, Shinoda has a strong sense of gratitude toward the AKB48 theater stage itself, and also toward the fans. She said to the audience, "Every time I went inside the theater as a staff, I felt the distance from the stage, and that is why I cherish this stage. There were painful times, sad times, and times I kept crying, but now that it's all in the past, I was happy overall. That's the only word."
After performing her last song "Anata ga Itekuretakara", she said with a smile, "After the graduation, I will focus on works related to fashion. I will work hard to be able to become a person who people look up to."
After all the performance was over, she gave the audience send-offs with a high five from the cafe where was her starting point.
