Ishida also invites you to look at the dance shots which will be uploaded soon!

It will first be sang in the Hello! Summer tour!

Post by: Rina the Robot on July 17, 2013, 10:08:10 PM: First date of the summer tour is July 27th, not long now! Seems like they're doing a similar promo blitz to Brainstorming, a month and change seems like short notice for a single but it'll probably work in their favor.

I'm interested to see what kind of tv performances they'll do this time around, with C-ute getting a Music Japan invite for this week and all.

Post by: Estrea on July 19, 2013, 02:12:03 AM: Personally I like how Tsunku has such a hands-on approach to writing the songs....there are some people who say that sometimes he gets into a rut and then we get a few singles of utter crap (I do not deny this...XD), so it's really kind of a risk to bet everything on the creativity of one person, but when Tsunku is on a roll, he's on a roll. He literally works on everything: the music, the lyrics, the whole freaking concept of the song. Of course, to this day I don't think I'll ever understand why Pyoko Pyoko Ultra required chicken outfits. But that's just me. And then again, Tsunku is a troll. We know this.

But I think it's really cool how his initial concept of a song morphs even as he is recording the demo tape. He improvises, makes changes, and hell, for Brainstorming, they changed the choreography RIGHT THAT DAY ON THE FILMING. That's the kind of attention to detail that makes me really respect the man. I might not always agree with or understand his logic, but you can really perceive his passion for the music he's producing. And you gotta give props to that.

Suzuki’s dance is a lot sharper now. Her singing has more power in it now too.
Now if she could improve on the way she ends a note while singing, it’d be even better.
I hope that she finds more confidence in herself, regain her original humorous character, and then bring that to perfection.

I'd also just like to note that Sayu looks SO GOOD in that pair of high-waisted pants.

A bit of a mystery why they didn't translate "Gundan" ("army") in the subtitles though. You'd think it would make the theme of their costumes more obvious to the non-Japanese-speaking audience. That's who the subtitles are for anyway, right?

Post by: elgie on July 24, 2013, 09:10:07 PM: Mmmh. The chorus is OK but the rest sounds patched and the transitions (when they exist!) aren't very smooth. I hate, hate, the sudden change to the instrumental at the end, it looks as if he was running out of ideas and decided to finish it off.
It's a pity because the dance and the outfits look very good but they don't make the song grow on me.

My, Masaki's voice is so high pitched it drowns the rest of the girls' :huhuh

They usually nail the dance later with more practice for promoting the single but they look so sharp in this dance shot. I can't wait for them to do this live on some show and blow everyone away.

Post by: Rina the Robot on July 24, 2013, 11:59:54 PM: Lately, I spend a lot of time sitting around and laughing about people who were like "H!P IS LIKE THE TITANIC OH MY GOD TSUNKU IS JUST THE ORCHESTRA PLAYING WHILE IT GOES DOWN" around the time of the Elders graduation a few years ago. Wonder how it feels to eat your words that badly :P

My take on the pv (I've had a few drinks so sorry if I seem really enthusiastic about it?)

- by far the coolest dance shot they've ever done (well, I liked the Manpower but this is really atmospheric and cool in its own right)
- Ishida and Sayashi's break of the dance formation manages to showcase them without seeming really blatant or unfair
- Maachan's solo line was really good. And for that matter, she looks pretty mature wearing that hat.
- SUCH GREAT COSTUMES ESPECIALLY SAYU'S PANTS AND HARUKA'S WHOLE OUTFIT
- Tsunku wasn't fucking around lyrically, his comments that Estrea translated earlier really make sense now. He's always been talented but this is a real belter.
- Can't wait to listen to the instrumental by itself, it's just that damn cool

Really, my main thought seeing that is about how the 12ki girls coming in are probably facing the toughest entrance of anyone. I think Oda coming in and feeling the pressure of being a vocal powerhouse to compensate for the lack of Takahashi/Tanaka plus trying to fit into the new, cooler Momusu image was hard but the 12ki girls are going to feel it even more. They have a ton to live up to in terms of talent since the current lineup is so strong, can't wait to see how they fit in!

The horn line (well, synthesized horn line) vaguely reminds me of the sax part in Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari, but this song is much better.

The part near the end with Sakura (at least I think it's her) bouncing up and down with her hand raised reminds me of an over-eager student begging the teacher to call on her. :lol:

If I could have a eargasm from a crappy concert rip, this is it. Words cannot express how much I love it. Omg. I'm like spazzing while looping the song and going AISARETAI AISARETAI along with them ;w; ALL MY FEELS.

On a slightly calmer note, I can see why Tsunku got them to whisper the beginning "wagamama ki no mama ai no joke" at the beginning. It sounds so much better that way. Tsunku you're a genius I love you ;w;

EDIT: Something else I observed, the song is completely seamless. It flows fluidly from start to finish and when you loop it....you don't even know the song ended at all o_o I LOVE IT. I'm already memorizing the chorus parts hahaha. 悲しみ悲しみ悲しみの欠片ｗ

While I'm at it, I'll echo the sentiments that the instrumentals are INSANE. They're not going to win back any of the people I know who hate "Dubstep Musume" but hey, I like it so it's whatever man.

Let's see some kind of PV soon, yeah?

Post by: Mucca on July 31, 2013, 11:39:41 PM: "Wagamama..." is definitely my fave, in both song and MV. The white outfits/outdoors stuff in "Ai no Gundan" (sorry, "GUNDAN" of the love) was kinda WTF out of nowhere.

Of the recent double-A sides, this one is definitely my favorite. Very cool, very stylish. One thing I really like about both songs is that, even though Riho is still clearly centre, all of the girls get a healthy amount of face time. Everyone sounds great, especially Ayumin and Fuku-chan.

- Lyrically, I think Ai no Gundan was more impressive (I get that it's more mature than Wagamama which is the point but I just feel like Gundan would have more of an impact with the public? Similar to Brainstorming being complimented when it came out)
- "Kanashimi, kanashimi kanashimi no kakera" has been looping my head for ages

Overall I think Gundan is a cooler package but who cares? I haven't been this thrilled about being a H!P fan in years, I feel so spoiled for choice! Momusu is really creating a new legacy for itself but the other H!P groups are formidable themselves, especially with all of the recent releases either topping previous records or coming very close to it.

Bring on the b-sides, please.

Not sure about the sparkles/bubbles/whatever, think post production needs to let those go and find a new filter. Other than that though, the girls look fantastic in the close-up shots and the camera panning around the dance formation was a great touch.

Seriously, if Fuku-chan could be a little more assertive (I was a little disappointed she didn't even say a single word on the recent Shabekuri 007 appearance), she would be unstoppable. She already has the looks, and her vocals and dancing have improved exponentially. If she had Sayu's TV presence...

Then again, she's still only 16. She still has time to improve. Heck, the entire group does! (And that bodes well for the future of MM.)

They both have some musical similarities (the "hontou-hontou" and "aisaretai-aisaretai" parts, the glissando in some vocal parts and some qualities in the intro I can't pinpoint to). It's as if he had all those ideas floating around a theme and he split them in two songs. Hell, who knows, he might even use some of those ideas for the B-sides 8)2

Both MVs are awesome, although I like Wagamama's more (I like the song more too, specially the chorus). It's more powerful overall. Also, OMG was that a Haruka solo line? For realz? :ding:

The biggest surprise in this occasion has been Mizuki. She's been a good vocalist for a long time but she always sounded too demure. Here, she's an unleashed force of epic proportions. Even Sakura pales in comparison this time (but she's awesome as always).

EDIT: forgot to add: although I like Wagamama's MV more I ab-so-lu-te-ly love the high angle shot in Ai no Gundan's dance. :wub:

Well, I watched the videos just before going to bed, so you won't get my very first reactions :lol: As in, I just crawled out of bed

I believe "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH" was said, and that Fukuchan is in g.oddess training. 8)

I was worried about Wagamama that the only close-up of Eripon would be that bit where she creepily stares at Maachan, but thankfully there is more. She even cracks a smile! <- obligatory Eripon comment

Yeah I hear some patterns being repeated here from the other new era songs, but fuck it, these songs are cool and I'll probably repeat them forever ha ha. Both videos have two outfits TT____TT

It really does feel like being spoiled. Everyone looks great, songs are kakkoii, dancing is kakkoii, there are new talents like Fukuchan and Maachan rising as well as Ayumi continuing and Riho still doing great. Oh and almost forgot Sakura. Loved her one long solo shot in Ai no Gundan during a solo line, reminded me of Aichan haha. Her smile really is sweet. Also liked that only Sayumi had those lip shots (that I can recall??) cuz she the hot mama of the group.

Basically FIERCE LOVE

Now I just need these videos separate so it'll be easier to watch them -.- lol

EDIT: I wanna say one thing though, if they keep releasing double A-sides, they could like.. take more of a risk with the other song? lol If the other song is this upbeat cool type that's been doing well for them, they could well test the waters by doing something different for the other track, and hey it might surprisingly be a hit. It feels like the production has found a comfortable spot and is now scared of stepping outside of it.

I think they're doing it, in a way. Wagamama is the power horse of the single while Ai no Gundan has some experimental qualiities. Same with the former single, Brainstorming was the straight-up danceable song while Kimi Sae was made of awkward key changes (which were awesome IMO, in fact the experimentality worked better with this song han with Ai no Gundan).

My favorite part of the MV is the first time they do the slap move and Riho just stares at the camera and does that little smirk. Every time (cause I've watched it like a billion times) I'm like "get it Riho!"

With slower tempo song I meant something like AS FOR ONE DAY (which is one of my favourite MM singles ever)... So yes if it was a slower tempo song, I'd still like it to be non-boring and possible to dance to, gracefully :lol: I'm so not a ballad person...

Eripon is going to be devoured by the giants Riho, Mizuki and Sayu in Limited A.

Limited B vaguely reminds me of the Mr. Moonlight single cover.

Limited D reminds me of the regular cover for Berryz' Ai no Dangan (because of the color scheme, most likely).

Limited E looks like the cover for the regular edition of the B-sides collection from a few years back.

Regular A is similar to the promo shots for (I think) the 13th album, but lazier (yellow to transparent gradient fill? Really?).

Regular B is also nice. I wish Up-Front would do more actual group shots instead of Photoshop mash-up disasters.

Is it the 28th yet? Despite my ambivalence toward the covers, the songs are what really matter, and I need to be able to buy them YESTERDAY.

Yes! I'm glad I'm not the only one clamoring for a mid-tempo A-side single! :lol: Although I'm thinking more along the lines of "Do It! Now" and "Ai Araba It's All Right" for that kind of rhythmic flow/structure, especially with the group's current electronic stylings.

In any case, I'll spare my usual spiel over tempo and drum patterns and just wanna say how awesome "Wagamama" and "Ai no Gundan" are, especially "Wagamama": the AISARETAI chants and the extra jungle-like drums throughout the song really make it extremely fun to listen to, and I really love the stage set video. I also love how Zukki doesn't get any solo lines yet you can still hear her clearly singing over the other members during those partial group lines! She also looks adorable in the black outfit with the high ponytail.

"Ai no Gundan" is also good, but I haven't listened to it as much. :P

As for the B-sides, I'm really looking forward to the third one...it's got that mid-tempo flow I've been looking for, with the bonus of having Zukki and Riho on it.

AKB were never going to pose a real threat this week. Unless their single has voting tickets it practically never goes over 50k in its second week on sale.

ANYWAY, huge congrats to the girls for selling 96k first day. Glad to see that all of their hard work is starting to pay off.

I wonder how realistic 150k first week is? Guess we'll see how things play out over the next few days.

"Makeru Ki Shinai Konya no Shobu": I like this one quite a bit -- it reminds me of an updated take on a classic style of idol song (if that makes any sense). I like all the "oh oh oh"-s.

"Bouya": This one is my favorite. I'd like to hear a rearranged version in a classic pop-rock style (kind of like the instrumentation of "Morning Coffee," I'd say); I think that would work really well. (My god, I'm liking most of the Sayu-led songs lately. What's wrong with me? Robo-Sayu conquers all, I guess.)

"Funwari Koibito Ichinensei": Maybe my opinion will change, but right now I really don't like this song at all. It's not very catchy to my ears, and kind of meanders.

Overall, I love four of the five tracks from this single, which is pretty darn good, I think. It's definitely my favorite overall MoMusu single (i.e. A and B sides considered) in quite a while.

You can seriously get a $10 iTunes gift card and get all the songs. I know we like to complain about Up-Front, but one place they need to be commended on is having 95% of the current Hello! Project songs up on iTunes for purchase by overseas fans. I understand downloading obscure/hard to get acts (because I know how expensive importing can be), but MoMusu (and C-ute, Berryz, S/mileage) are RIGHT THERE on iTunes.

Dude I can't agree more. To me, buying the tracks on iTunes is actually easier and faster than downloading them, too :lol: Guilt free, and they come so fast. It's like Steam, but for music instead of video games. Convenience beats the little price you gotta pay for things XD

...And it sorts music for me into artist folders. That's like heaven sent to me.

All the bonus clips from all the bonus DVDs could easily fit on one disc, so all you get really is a lot of discs with similar content and different covers and a cardboard box. It's the old value for money beef I have with H!P story again :nervous

That aside, I'm glad this one if doing so well :thumbup

Riho: Said something cool about declaring for Kohaku as well as saying that we won't lose to any other idol groups or the morning musume of the past.

Her use of grammar is funny she says something like the fans of the past and the future, supporting the future morning musume, can you see me? XD

@Wagamama: I like Maachan and Fukuchan's "aisaretai" better than Sayashi and Odachan's, oop?!? Also I liked one of Maachan's earlier solo lines, it felt like she was putting pout in it, sounded really cute. Haha.

And to me it always feels like Eripon brings it the most at these mini lives what :D I mean in her dancing. Pretty cool
