I have to say, that's a very bold title for your album.

Looks like C-ute are going Ham (and Cheese) on this album.
I'll see myself out.
-
There is no way for the Ham and Cheese song to live up to its title. None.
I wonder how Tsunku even came up with the idea. Maybe he was trolling 2ch one day during breakfast and saw everyone mocking his songwriting abilities, so he just up and goes, "I'll show them! I'll write something so awesome, yet so off-the-wall, that it'll prove my genius to those wankers!" But he's temporarily out of ideas for a song, so he just starts looking around the room, and sees his breakfast on the table -- a ham and cheese bagel. "That's it!" he goes. "I'll write a song about a ham and cheese bagel!" Then he goes a step further, and decides to give the song to C-ute, who have been riding a hot streak lately and whose sexy image would seem to be at odds with a song about a bagel. Then he goes even further -- he decides to make the song the lead track on C-ute's new album. But no, that still isn't enough to shove it in the face of those 2ch trolls -- that's right, Tsunku decides there will be a mother-f**king-music-video for his song about a ham and cheese bagel.
Satisfied, he sits back in his chair and starts eating the bagel. "Yep," he says, content. "I'm still a god-damned genius."
-
Really though, is it any weirder than Otome pasta ni kandou? :P
According to H!O users
- Bagel ni ham and cheese was played on the radio today
- The song is cutesy
- The members think it's the best song of the album
- Apparently has a 2nd gen Tanpopo kind of feel
-
any song with food in its title has to be a good song lol
-
They should do a PV for the song where they're just sitting around eating ham and cheese bagels.
10/10, PV of the year, etc.
-
Oh man, it actually is cute.
℃-ute 『ベーグルにハム&チーズ』 (radio rip) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6NtSqEcnDk#)
-
Did they cut it just before an epic guitar solo?
What a tease.
-
It is pretty good. I can see where the comparison to Tanpopo version 2 comes in, but it's too synth-heavy and electronic to be truly like that era of Tanpopo (which had more of an authentic '60s girl group sound).
They should do a PV for the song where they're just sitting around eating ham and cheese bagels.
No dance shots with Airi Suzuki in a giant bagel costume, no sale.
-
My first thought when seeing that song title was...well, what Mage said about going HAM. 8)
My second thought was what the hell is this song gonna be like with that kind of title?
But as it turns out, it's a pretty good song and a nice opener for the album. It's cute but also cool, energetic but also relaxing. And hey, cheese and ham on bagels is pretty damn tasty.
No dance shots with Airi Suzuki in a giant bagel costume, no sale.
She needs to do a "BRING IT ON DOWN TO BAGELVILLE" type of thing like (or better yet, with) Justin Timberlake. :P

Tsunku's comments about the album
- "Queen of J-POP" because he wants for people all over the world who are interested in Japan, to look at it and find out who C-ute are.
- The theme of the album is "life-sized coolness."
- Rather than cutesy songs that has been on previous albums, he decided just to go with songs for C-ute that are as they are now.
- "Bagel ni ham & cheese:" Written like an entry from a diary. Whether they're students or working we don't know, but it's a song about a couple that just started their romance. Sung by all, but center is Suzuki.
- "Namida mo denai kanashiki mo nai nanimo shitakunai:" Sung by all, but center is Hagiwara. A song where a girl starts to feel insecure in her relationship. Different from other songs about broken hearts this one doesn't have any crying. Surely when people feel hopeless, we do feel weak to our knees and this is a song like that. In the back track, you can also hear the members sing (?) lowly. [T/N: Always gets me confused when he talks technically about music orz]
- "Tadoritsuita onna senshi:" A song that has to be sung in Budoukan. A song he hopes could become a theme/support song for women who work hard towards a goal.
- "Nichiyoubi wa daisuki yo:" A song about an average Sunday and how sometimes it's just okay to do nothing even if everyone around us do. Sung by all.
- "Abiru hodo no ai wo kudasai:" Sung by all, but center is Okai. A song about how it's difficult to figure out what it means just to be a "good girl." Some guys say they like seeing a girl eat properly/a lot while they at the same time go asking if the girl is okay while she's actually having a big meal. It's a song with a rock feel.
- "Watashi ga honki wo dasu yoru:" Sung by all, but center is Nakajima. A country song with a rock-arrangement and pop-feel. Very uptempo and is sure to get one fired up during lives. A bright song that goes very well with Nakajima and is very C-ute-like.

Holy shit Airi's looking good with that hairstyle and dress! My oshihen dilemma with this group has just been made worse with these covers...
But then again, I think everyone's a bit too heavy with the makeup here...and I have no idea what the hell is going on with Mai's ruffles and Chisato's platforms. XD
I certainly like the limited versions more than the regular, which is a little too "rich" for my tastes.
-
Could have eased up a little on the make-up but the covers look pretty decent regardless. I think I like Limited B the best.

Tsunku just announced that "Bagel ni Ham & Cheese" has a music video, and it's premiering on this week's Hello Station!

Come on silly bagel costumes!
-
Did not expect this. Who knows what they'll even do with the PV, there's so many ways they could go with it.

Double post to say the album is up for pre-order on US iTunes (and despite the single not being on iTunes, "Kono Machi" will be on the iTunes album). It's $12.99, though it might be best to wait: if you've already purchased the pre-album singles - as I did - there might be a "Complete My Album" option for a cheaper price once the album if officially released (the album page already shows me as having purchased four of the tracks on the album).
