Like Fireworks

Haruka leaves the window open when she sleeps.

She's surrounded by pillows and a blanket twisted around her slender form, but she's unable to sleep. Instead, her round eyes stare expectantly outside.

There's a dark figure and Haruka quickly closes her eyes, feigning sleep as the figure squeezes through the window and into her room with eaze. Cold fingers brush against her cheek and Haruka can't help but smile as a soft chuckle sounds against her ear. The bed shifts as the figure sits down and fiddles with Haruka's hair, soft gestures matching soft laughter.

"I know you're not asleep."

The voice has a thick Kyoto accent and she knows exactly who it is. Haruka tries to play it off a little longer, but she can't help but smile widely as the cold hands make their way down her face to cup her cheek. Haruka lets her eyes open slowly, a pout on her lips as she stares at the grinning girl.

"Unfair, Yui," she whines, pulling the blanket up to her cheeks to stop the blush that's quickly spreading.

Yui grins, revealing pointed canines. "I'm sorry, Paruru."

And there it was again. The thumping of her heart grew stronger as Yui lets her thumb wander the soft skin of her cheek to the corner of her lips. There's a tiny faltering in her face as Yui bites her lip, her hand moving from the warmth of Haruka's cheek.

Haruka frowns slightly. It was obvious Yui was holding back; her eyes were dilated, darker than the normal shade of brown. Haruka edges closer, ignoring the twitches and gentle pushes from the older girl.

"When was the last time you've had a drink?"

Her eyes stare unflinchingly.

Yui looks away, the smile on her face gone. "I don't need-"

"Yui."

The other girl sighs and Haruka can't help but feel a tingle of warmth spread from her cheeks as she leans closer to embrace the other.

"It's ok, I don't mind if you drink from me," she mutters, breathing in the scent of the cold night as she buries her face into Yui's neck. "I'm used to it."

Yui inhales harshly, nostrils flaring as Haruka cranes her neck. The pale skin demoralizes her, and Yui can't help give a long lick down the side. Her lips brushes against a pulsing vein, inviting her teeth to sink in and drink to her hearts content. Haruka quivers as she feels Yui's breath beat against her heated skin, sharp teeth softly poking the thin membrane and oh-

"Wait, Yui!" Haruka pushes the girl, struggling to escape the animal-like grip Yui has around her waist. The vampire frowns, eyes swirling with disappointment and thirst as she reluctantly pulls away from the inviting bloodline.

"I have school tomorrow," she explains, shuddering as the cold air from the window slipped in through the holes of her oversized t-shit. "Rina's been asking me about the bandaids and I don't want her, want anyone, to get suspicious."

Yui grimances, eyes softening from their previous thirst into something lighter. She nods, "Ok, I'll just find some other-"

"No!"

Yui blinks at her, just as surprised by the sudden outburst like she was. Haruka bites her lip, eyes downcast with a rapid blush spreading like wildfire from her neck to ears.

"I don't want you to drink from someone else," Haruka mutters quietly, hands fiddling with the blanket. Jealousy burns through her at the thought of Yui with another, even if it was to quench the thirst for blood. "I don't want you to."

Yui breaks into a huge grin and laughs. Haruka glares at her, the blush growing into a bright crimson.

"I love you, Shimazaki Haruka."

Haruka doesn't know how, but the crimson turns into a bright scarlet and she wishes she could just throw herself out the window in embarrassment.

"I love you too, Yokobaka Yui," she whispers as she throws the blanket over her face.

A gentle hand tugs the blanket down and Haruka is met with the sight of a smiling Yui, her face alight with happiness. Cold hands cups her face and Haruka closes her eyes, expecting what was to come next.

An icy pair of lips presses up against her own, Yui's hair tickling her cheek as she leans in closer for more.

More, and more, and more. That's all she wants from Yui, more and more until she's about to burst from all the want inside of her. Haruka knows Yui feels it to because her breath gets caught in her throat as Yui smirks against her lips, tongue sliding into her mouth with little warning.

There's no battle for dominance because Haruka backs down almost immediately, stomach fluttering wildly as Yui's finger draws circles on the exposed skin.

"Yui," Haruka gasps breathlessly, her hands running through the dark locks of the girl's hair.

Yui smirks slightly, nuzzling her face against the crook of Haruka's neck as she breathes in the sweet scent of life that threatened to overpower her. Haruka brings her closer, letting the cold lips bring shivers down her back.

"Go ahead."

Yui raises an eyebrow, ignoring the soft groan from the other girl's lips as she trails her wandering fingers lower and lower. Haruka gives a sigh of annoyance as Yui played the innocent card on her, eyes wide and mischievous.

"But you said-"

"I'll make something up, you can drink," Haruka says through gritted teeth as she tightens puts her arms around Yui's shoulders, fingers digging into the soft flesh of the vampire.

Yui gives her a cheeky grin before diving down to suckle the soft flesh of her neck, marking the pale skin with patches of red. Haruka's ready to burst by the time Yui lets her teeth sink in, a moan passing her lips. It's shocking at first, the pain stifling her breath as the punctures turned cold. She could feel her blood leaving, the soft slurps and muffled moans filling the silent air of the night.

It doesn't take long for the pain to become pleasure, and when it does, Haruka groans with unabashed want. Her fingernails mark prints as she pulls Yui closer, trembling with sapped energy and an overwhelming feeling of lust that flares in her stomach.

Yui lets out a sigh of content as she laps up the last of the blood, licking the wound on Haruka's neck. "It didn't hurt, did it?" She asks, concern filling her voice as she looks at Haruka's flushed face with wonder.

"No," Haruka answers quietly, feeling her heart fall into a deeper abyss of love for the vampire.

Yui grins happily, licking the flecks of blood from her lips before regarding Haruka curiously. A smirk grows on her lips and Haruka can't help but feel bothered by the scrutinizing gaze of the older girl.

"Well, I guess it's my turn to satisfy you," Yui says, her voice dropping an octave.

There's a trail of icy kisses from her lips to neck to collarbones as Yui rids of her shirt with ease. The kisses continue down her chest and stomach to the niches of her hips as Yui nuzzles against the soft flesh of her inner thigh, ridding the last of her obstacles.

Haruka closes her eyes as Yui continues, her heart bursting through her chest as fireworks erupt and a mix of fire and ice overwhelms her in moments.

***

Haruka wakes up, warm even against the cold body that pressed up tightly against her. She's dazed but happy as Yui lightly kisses her fluttering eyelids, tender and careful.

"Good morning."

Yui's smiling and Haruka realizes she is too.

"I used to hate the fact I couldn't sleep," Yui whispers, "But now I love it."

"Why is that?" Haruka asks, her voice still rough from sleep and the actions of last night.

Yui chuckles sheepishly, as if embarrassed, "Because I can watch you sleep. Did you know you have the cutest sleeping face I've ever seen?"

Haruka blushes, nuzzling deep into the embrace of the other to hide the growing blush.

"You're an idiot."

"Ouch, that was a bit salty."

Haruka just laughs.

A/N: Ahahahahaha, I apologize but I don't write smut/lemons so this is the best I would do. ^^; Thanks for reading! (also, if you want to suggest any pairings, feel free to list below and I'll come up with some plots and oneshots for them!)

Operation: RIVER
Wmatsui, YuiParu, Mayuki, Kojiyuu, Marimii + other side couples.
Military/Apocalypse!AU

Operation: RIVER

Mission Plan

SPECIAL ORDER
OPERATION: RIVER
Special Unit: UNIT 48
ORDERS: Search and destroy the center of Shades – stop them from being able to multiply.
Annihilation of any encountered Shades and anarchists.
Recruiting of new members to the army if seen to have a possession of a talent.

It’s the year 2XXX and civilization has fallen. The world’s destroyed and a new municipal order erupts from the ashes of the apocalypse. Isolated from the rest of the world, Japan now recruits those with supernatural powers to join the army against the “Shades.”

Shades – demonic, shadowy figures who can take on the image of misfortune and death. The stronger it is, the bigger and more solidified the form may be. Evolved shades may be able to speak and communicate. Shades can kill by shooting a poisonous bullet from their bodies, infecting a person. If left untreated, each misfortune would cause the poison to spread and grow until it turned the person into a shade themselves.

UNIT 48
– a unit of specialized girls led by their brilliant leader: Otabe (Yokoyama Yui). Their powers are the strongest of the recruits and specialize in Search-and-Destroy, Massacres, and are tasked with finding and destroying the cause of the Shades.

UNIT Rappapa – a disbanded unit that was handpicked by Akimoto. The strongest and most talented of the recruits, infamous due to the high number of Shades they had destroyed. An effective guerilla and Search-and-Destroy team, they were disbanded after the incident involving the casualty of Matsui Rena and several other civilians.

Prologue - Part I

Welcome to UNIT48

A girl donned in an illustrious military green stood outside the door, the various medals and five golden stars hung on the heavy outfit as she waited to be called in. She was a rank five, as symbolized by the gleaming stars on her left shoulder, and the youngest rank five in the history of the army. It was an impressive feat, but the girl paid no mind to the stars that weighed with the burden of many lives.

"Enter," a booming voice called from the other side of the heavy wooden doors.

The girl pushed them open, walking past the guards with a relatively relaxed expression. However, as she walked closer to the desk where the Chief in Command sat, her back straightened and her shoulders were rigid.

"Yokoyama Yui, sir."

Yui gave the official military salute; hands held clasped behind her back as her feet distanced themselves from one another by a new centimeters. Her eyes gazed straight into the eyes of the seemingly middle-aged man sitting behind the mahogany desk filled with endless files of paper.

"At ease, soldier," the man replied, waving his hand to dismiss the young girl's air of misgiving. "Do you know why you're here?"

Yui immediately relaxed, her feet coming back together as her arms dangled by her side. However, her back was straight, shoulders a rigid line.

"No, sir."

The man, Akimoto, selected a thick manila folder from the top of his stack, leafing through it intently as if to catch some last-minute errors. Satisfied with the work, he slid the folder towards Yui, motioning for her to take it. Yui hesitated briefly before taking the folder, tentatively flipping each page after another.

"I have a job that only a brilliant tactician like you can fulfill."

Yui looked at him in disbelief, "Sir, with all due respect, this is-"

"Your mission, Captain Yokoyama. I expect great things from you," Akimoto smiled, his eyes unreadable. “The hope of mankind rests upon your shoulders.”

She hesitated.

"I understand. I shall assemble the unit immediately."

Yui bowed her head and gave another salute before excusing herself out of the room, doubt plaguing her mind.

***

"Nyanyan!"

A girl jumped from somewhere, her arms wrapped tightly around a taller girl's shoulders. The taller girl staggered forwards, barely saving herself a fall by grabbing onto a wooden beam.

"Hey, Yuko!" She berated the other with a swift smack on the head, "Some warning next time!"

Yuko, the shorter girl, ignored her, nuzzling her cheek against the nape of the other girl's neck. She smiled happily, arms traveling from the shoulders to waist. Yui stood in the back, her arms crossed as she watched the scene unfold with a small apologetic smile on her face. Instead, she waited silently, waiting for the rest of the members to appear before saying anything.

"Yuko-san, Haruna-san!" A confused voice sounded from behind the two friends. "What are you doing here?"

Yuko turned her head, arms still attached to Haruna's waist. There she saw a girl with wide eyes and slightly overreacting facial expressions walk over to the two of them.

"Yuki?"

Haruna wiggled her way out of Yuko's tight grip and went to hug the other girl. Surprise was evident in all their faces; it had been years since all three of them had been in the same place together.

"Now if only Mariko and the others were here," Haruna mused out loud, taking a seat on one of the benches conveniently placed besides them. Yui slid over to the edge, allowing room for the others to take seat.

"Then there would be trouble, wouldn't it?"

A tall, model-like girl appeared, followed by two smaller girls – one with glasses and the other with a large bow in her hair; all with grimaces on their faces.

Yuki grimaced, noticing a letter with the military insignia stamped on the letters that were clenched tightly in Atsuko’s and Minami’s hands. Yuko let out a wry smile, a foreboding feeling flooding into the hearts of all that gathered.

“Looks like UNIT Rappapa is back.”

***

"The answer's no, Yui," Haruna said firmly, mouth set into a deep frown. "I refuse to go out there again."

Yui looked on forlornly at the past members of the infamous UNIT Rapappa. The military insignia openly tattooed on the side of her neck brought a sense of shame and embarrassment as the ex-members stared at it pointedly.

"Sending a pup to round up the stray dogs of the military, huh? Akimoto must be desperate," Yuko laughed bitterly, the sound strained as if reluctantly forced.

"Like Haruna said, I refuse to go back. Wasn't three years of war enough?"

She hadn’t expected an easy fight with the ex-members of UNIT Rappapa. They had been the best of the best – stronger and smarter than any unit that had been involved with the Shades. However, three years in service, they had all quit the military with a resigned frown much to the despair of the young recruits who had looked upon them, Yui included.

“This is the final push, the last chance to destroy the Shades for once and for all. After that, no one else will have to join the military – the world will have its victor and it will be humanity that wins.” Yui felt like screaming, desperate to get the ex-members to see how they were needed. She knelt down, head bowed as her hands rested on her thighs in pitiful despair.

A heavy silence settled on the group, threatening to choke all who stayed quiet. Mariko opened her mouth to speak a rebuttal, but no sound came out as she stared at the pathetic position a rank five was reduced into.

“Only the best of the best, huh.”

Yui raised her head, eyes wide at the sudden statement Atsuko had made. The glasses-donned girl stared at her, measuring her silently with unflinching eyes.

“I’ll join.”

“Atsuko!”

Minami looked at her with obvious shock, a horrified expression on her face.

“It’s not like we have anything else to live for,” Atsuko smiled wryly, “Save the young lives in exchange for ours.”

Yui bowed her head once more, “Thank you.”

“Don’t bow your head,” Mariko said firmly, placing a heavy hand upon Yui’s head. “You’re the leader aren’t you?”

Yuki nodded her head while Minami stared at Atsuko with a look torn between betrayal and deep sadness before giving an imperceptible nod as well.

“Yuko? Haruna?”

Reluctance was evident, but the mood had shifted into Yui’s favor. Yuko looked annoyed and Haruna clearly angry, but they too gave a murmur of agreement.
Atsuko smiled at her, thin, but still there.

Yui stood up and gave a military salute, hands clasped tightly behind her back.

“Thank you, and welcome. Welcome to UNIT 48.”

A/N: \ o / and here is the debut of a more serious story, Operation: RIVER. ; u ; so far, yui managed to recruit Rappapa, but more members will be coming soon.

@Shinoki: Yes, I greatly appreciate your long comment ; u ; I'm quite proud of that YuiParu oneshot. It's one of my favorites. Ah yes, I'll plan on making them a bit longer one day TT u TT but oh well. I could write both of them for you \ o / I don't mind at all! If you could just briefly describe how Sayaka and Mizuho interact, I could easily write them (although somewhat out of character since I don't know them very well).

@mitsuhara_itsuko: Thank you very much for the comment, I appreciate it! I shall post more oneshots \ o / and spread the YuiParu love!

@White Hawk: Thank you for the lovely comment ; u ; Spread the YuiParu love!

@Kirozoro: Thank you for the kind comment TT u TT I appreciate it! Also, yes, I'll be posting MaYuki soon ~ At least this ongoing finally has MaYuki sobs. I'll put that on the requested ~

Operation: RIVER

Prologue Part II

Before meeting with the ex-members of UNIT Rappapa, Yui had taken the liberty to pinpoint and mark every noteworthy recruit. It had taken her hours of going through each recruits' papers and days more of going to personally observe them. Eventually, she has selected three promising girls that were only a couple of years younger than she was.

And now, here she stood on an elevated wooden platform on a sunny day, the blue sky gleaming behind her as if to illuminate the righteous orders she had been asked to deliver. The platform was simple and empty save her, the new recruits trainer, and the members of the new UNIT 48 standing sullenly over the rows of recruits. The thoughts of the veterans were the same: they would be choosing who could die with them.

The trainees were identical; their clothes the same military green and a cap placed on their heads, long hair tied in ponytails. All had their eyes trained on Yui and UNIT Rappapa, eyes steeled with determination and hope of glory.

The trainer stood up, the muscles of her forearm clear in the sun as he towered over Yui. Taking a breath, he called out the names Yui had hand-picked with a deep, booming voice.

"Matsui Jurina!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Minegishi Minami!"

"Yes, sir."

"Watanabe Mayu!"

"Yes, sir."

Yui raised an eyebrow as she watched the three best recruits step out from the ranks of silent soldiers, watching the trainer's face glow with pride as his aces gave the military salute before the elevated platform they stood upon.

"So young," Yui heard Yuki whisper to herself, ignoring the tingling sense of guilt at having to send such young girls into the open fields. Yuko shot her a glare that she rightly ignored as well - they were the best and Yui only wanted them.

The three were different: physically, psychologically, mentally. Matsui Jurina, despite only being eighteen, had the height and aura of an experienced leader, an almost challenging smirk playing on her lips. A daily training activity Yui had observed showed a high ability in hand-to-hand combat, excellent on the field with an even greater ability to control her talent: fire. She would be a hard one to control, Yui mentally noted, but an excellent soldier and a fiercely loyal friend.

Minegishi Minami was the shortest of the bunch, hair reaching a length to her ear. She was more serious, straight backed and all as she watched Yui. The number one sniper, Minegishi was on par, if not above, the current best sniper employed in the military. Yui ignored the feeling that her every move was being predicted and watched and nodded with satisfaction at the choice. A nine-eight percent accuracy was not something to be tampered with.

Lastly, her eyes strayed upon Watanabe Mayu. The girl's expression was stoic, not a hint of what she may have been feeling expressed in her eyes. She was unsettlingly calm, staring straight into the eyes of Yui before training her eyes on the legendary members behind her. Yui could see the gears turning behind the stony eyes of Watanabe - every move was being calculated, every word already predicted before Yui had a chance to form them.

"She's a smart one," Mariko murmured, thoroughly surprised at three chosen recruits. "Pity she became a soldier."

"They look almost too excited," Minami chuckled airily, playing with the bow in her hair. "I wonder if we looked like that too."

Yuko grunted. Displeasure was evident on the short girl's face and she threw a glare at the trainees as if it would help push them back into the ranks, to prevent them from joining the war they were bound to start.

Yui shrugged off the burdening weight of taking such young recruits and stuck the overwhelming feelings to the back of her mind. It threatened to swallow her completely - thrust her into the dark world of self-doubt and the pressures of failing. Yui swallowed harshly, pushing down the feelings, eyes narrowed and steeled as she did so. She would wallow in self-hatred later, but for now, she had a job to do.

She ignored the daggers the members of Rappapa gave her way with their eyes and stood up. Her feet stopped only at the edge of the platform. Her hands stayed clasped behind her back solidly.

A breathe.

"Welcome to UNIT 48."

Operation: RIVER

Prologue Part III

"Open the gates!"

The blackened iron bars shuttered as the metals grinded together to open a space big enough for only one person. Groaning to a halt, the bleak prison's unwelcoming entrance omitted a force that made Yui's stomach flip upside-down. A quick glance behind her and she could see that Mayu's characteristically stoic face had scrunched up in disgust while Minami looked sick. Atsuko sighed, having been here before, and led the way inwards.

A dirty looking girl in a beige jumpsuit rammed the stained window that separated the group from the inmates. She had a twisted look, the scars on her face only adding to the outlaw look. Minami flinched away from the cell, huddling closer to Mayu who looked equally disturbed as the inmate let out a laugh.

Yui grimaced.

"What are we here for?" Minami whispered to her, eyes flickering back and forth from both sides of the the prison as they waited for their guide to appear.

Atsuko shrugged, "Yui wanted something."

The three looked at Yui whose face had turned ashen and tightened, control slowly slipping from her grasp as her mouth turned slack with horror. "It's personal," she said bitingly, "I owe someone here my life."

Before being able to question their captain, a guide - female and quite young - appeared before the four. Unlike the inmates, she wore a proper military uniform, military insignia bared on her cheek.

"Yokoyama Yui, Maeda Atsuko, Minegishi Minami, and Watanabe Mayu, correct?"

Yui nodded, flashing the tattoo on her neck.

The guide smiled, hurriedly checking things off on her clipboard before stuffing it under her arm. She smiled, "Welcome to Prison HOPE, also known as Majisuka Prison. I'll be your guide, Peace."

The two youngest recruits looked at each other in confusion, but stilled their tongues. A prison was never a place to exploit secrets.

"We're here for Shimazaki Haruka," Yui spoke, willing her voice to stay calm as she spoke the name.

Peace's eye became round, surprise and disapproval evident as a frown appeared on her face. She scrutinized the group carefully, "Shimazaki Haruka?"

Yui ignored the confused guide and pulled out a retrieval slip from Akimoto himself, the military's emblem glowing even in the musty light of the prison. Peace took the article, expression turning unreadable, and handed it back to Yui.

"Come this way. Shimazaki Haruka is on lockdown at the moment."

Yui's face turned bitter, but a brush of the hand from Atsuko kept her from saying anything.

"Who is that?" Mayu whispered, nudging Minami's shoulder with her own.

"How would I know? You're the genius here," Minami shrugged.

The walk was a long one, Peace leading the four through locked door after locked door. The inmates were rowdy and violent; bloody specks on their face were not surprising and many had scars on the dirty skin. Atsuko’s face had become unreadable as she tried her best to ignore the pounding near her head as the group marched inwards into the belly of the massive prison.

“What kind of a prison is this,” Minami whispered with disgust, her nose scrunching at the foul smell that leaked from behind the barriers.

“Prison HOPE is a special prison, one used to detain those that have been charged with capital punishment,” Peace explained. “If you’ve noticed, all talents are surprised and nullified because of the charms inserted into the walls on their side - can’t have the nation’s most dangerous criminals running loose.”

“Disgusting,” Mayu grimaced.

Peace gave a hum of agreement before stopping in front of a gigantic vault. “We’re here,” she announced almost cheerfully as she slid a card into the lock on the side of the vault. With a heavy groan, the gears turned painfully slow, the screeching of metal grating against metal becoming unbearable sharp as it slowly opened inward.

“Haruka,” Peace called with a sing-song voice, leading the group into the musty room. “Visitors!”

“What is this?”

Yui looked around the small room with round eyes, horrified at the number of nullification charms that stuck around the room. Rows of rows of them had been plastered into the stone walls that omitted only darkness. The three members looked equally disturbed, Mayu gagging slightly as claustrophobia threatened to overwhelm her.

However, in the middle of it, sat a girl whose arms were fettered by the chains embedded in the back wall. Her beige outfit was clean, save for the occasional dirt smear, and her face was unmarred unlike the majority of girls who occupied the prison, but still held traces of blood and old bruises that had turned a nasty purple. Long strands of wavy hair sweeping well past her shoulders brushed the grounds as her head lolled unconsciously, eyes shut in a feverish daze.

“There was a crazy shutdown of the prison,” Peace explained, walking over to the chained girl with the keycard still held in her fingers. “Shimazaki here caused a power outage and sent a couple of girls to the infirmary with charred insides.” The guide unlocked the chains that thrummed with magical energy, a high-pitched tune that scratched the eardrums unpleasantly. She looked upon the group curiously, “Not quite sure why you’d want her, but take her.”

Yui rushed forward as the limp body of Shimazaki Haruka lurched to the ground, forehead barely grazing the rocky floor before Yui’s arms wrapped themselves tightly around the girl’s waist.

“Captain-” Minami started before being cut off by Yui.

“You are to keep this a secret from the others.”

It was a cold voice that echoed throughout the despair blanketed chamber of solitude. Minami was struck into silence by the desperation that laced the characteristically strong leader, and nodded in respect. Mayu and Atsuko followed suit, although the latter’s lips had retained the hard line she had on since entering the prison.

“Shimazaki Haruka does not exist until I say she does.”

Yui tightened her grip on the unconscious girl who moaned in response, pain evident in her scrunched features.

"Welcome to UNIT 48, Haruka."

A/N: Look, a double update! I'm incredibly dissatisfied with this part, but I just want to hurry and get the main story along orz; The next and final prologue (and member!) will probably be posted tomorrow ~ I'm sure many of you can guess who it is why would I ever kill Rena, she is my goddess sobs

Ooooh!
I guess I missed catching the first few parts of this new one~
This is really interesting...
Yuihan kakoii!!!
Ah, Prison Hope...
And the Rappappa members...
My heart pounds with excitement..
Hmm, I guess Peace doesn't like Paru as much in this world...
No one likes the prison of course, nod nod.
Ah, exciting!! :3 nyaaa!
I wonder why the military insignia is tattoo-ed though?
I wonder what connection Yui has to Paru...
She said that she owed someone here her life
So, Paru nod nod. I shall come to that conclusion until further explanation
dun dun dun...
Mayu has claustrophobia? though I'm guessing that's just to describe the way the room is
And thus, Yui gets a cool moment at the end
That line: "Welcome to UNIT 48" is somehow awesome
Soon, one day, it shall be this fic's catchphrase
I'm joking.
Even if you're dissatisfied, I'm totally satisfied~~~
People do say that an author's worst critic is the author herself though~ :3
Matsui Rena is invincible!!!!
Well, I'll be looking forward to the next~

To describe SayaMizu to you... I suck at being brief, but yea I'm describing their personalities too~~
(if someone figures out how to do that spoiler thing, yea, I should apply that since this is long)
Hmm, well:
They are husband and wife basically
They kissed during the Choco no Dorei B-side Extra episode
and it was also revealed that they kissed before that... like I think before the stage or something
Two cute girls...being cute...and stuff? Even though Niidoi is quite a bit older...
I'll quote Niidoi from the Choco no Dorei SP: "She's cute...and kind, so I love her" "we're really close and I love her" "She told me that she wanted to go to the aquarium"
Mizuho: "really kind and like a big sister"

Niidoi Sayaka is sometimes called Shindoi-chan for her surname or Sayachan or PenPen as she likes Penguins
If you go and check out a few of the SJo episodes near the 30 mark,
You can see that she has this cute fluffy penguin suit
Speaking of cute and fluffy,
I personally find PenPen's appearance to be cute and fluffy and soft feeling despite her age of an university student
She sometimes acts kind of spacey and airheaded, but in truth is pretty smart
Well, considering that it's university and all
Another extra detail would be that supposedly, Niidoi-chan talks in a casual form,
so sometimes she drops the honorifics naturally when talking to senpai and etc
(I haven't paid much attention to this detail though myself)
Her voice is also pretty soft

Yamada Mizuho, well since I have a bad habit of getting to know more 'bout members when they announce their graduation, I don't know her personality that well...But I'll give some details of what I know (Oh my gersh...this is getting long... :p )
Well, she loves rabbits and I'm pretty sure that Mizuho is called something like Usagi-chan or something by a number of people
At least from what I've seen PenPen calls her "Mizuho-chan"
(I can provide you with a link to the Choco no Dorei thing subbed SayaMizu is the first kiss in part 2 in the subs created by anshinanzen.tumblr.com )
She was just recently promoted last year
and of course because basically everyone else got promoted
and even a 6th generation member got promoted before her,
she was sad and wanted to quit,
but the good thing is that she didn't and kept on working hard and finally got promoted to Team KII
I think she's a pervert... yea, she's a pervert.
But then again, it might be the influence of KII and the fact that she's there
She can be a bit 'amusingly malicious' and mess around with KII members too
It might be considered a troll-character, but not so much
I'm pretty sure that in the couple, the rabbit is the husband
Mizuho also has a Miyamae x Mizuho pair called AnMizuho, but
it's not the same as the husband-wife thing (and lol, Mizuho actually said that PenPen and her were that.)
Title: Happy Valentine's Day! (YuiParu, Kojiyuu, Wmatsui, Mayuki Drabbles)
Post by: recchuun on February 15, 2014, 08:28:16 AM
A/N: Although it's technically two hours past Valentine's Day, here are the drabbles of Valentine-related couples ~ I like to imagine this is what they actually do but, yes, enjoy ; u ; and happy Valentine's Day to all!

Cat Nap
Yokoyama Yui/Shimazaki Haruka
293 words

Something was horribly wrong.

There was rare moment of silence that enveloped her apartment, but instead of enjoying it, Yui sat outside her door with a pensive look.

Normally, when she left beloved girlfriend Haruka and her equally precious cat Bisu alone in a room, there would be screeches and yowling as the two fought constantly for her attention. (Not that Yui minded, of course, she deeply adored both her easily jealous cat and girlfriend).

But it was quiet and Yui was worried.

Had the two finally taken each other out? What kind of blood bath would she walk into?

(She shuddered at the time her room was trashed by the two - it had taken it hours to clean the mess afterwards).

Taking a deep breath, she turned the knob of the door and almost fell over at the sight that greeted her.

Haruka was curled up on her bed, blankets covering her haphazardly as she slept soundly with a sleeping Bisu in her arms. Bisu face was pushed against Haruka's and Yui couldn't help but chuckle at the similarities of their sleeping faces. It was a sight to remember and Yui suppressed a sudden want to squeal at the cute sight that she was fortunate enough to witness.

A box of chocolates was visible in Haruka's sleeping grasp, a small envelope tied to the sweets with a white ribbon, and Yui could feel her face splitting into a wide smile.

Taking the chocolates from Haruka's hand, she replaced the box with her own hand into her girlfriend's grasp while her free arm wrapped around the younger girl's waist and Bisu's warm body. She nuzzles her face into Haruka's neck as stray strands of hair tickle her cheek.

"Sleep well, Haruka, Bisu."

Balloons, Balloons, Balloons

Oshima Yuko/Kojima Haruna
333 words

Yuko sighed as she wrapped another piece of candy on the ends of the balloon strings.

"You're such a romantic," Takamina laughed as she helped blow up another balloon in their growing pile. "Haruna’s going to love it."

"Are you sure?" Yuko asked, her hands still hard at work at tying the candy. Haruna had been looking down lately, a pensive frown on her face replacing the normal airhead look – and Yuko planned to fix it. However, there was a tinge of doubt in her normally confident voice and Minami couldn’t help but smile at the sudden vulnerability.

"I'm certain."

Confidence renewed, Yuko went about her work more vigorously with a smile on her face.

There was a growing pile of balloons in the cardboard boxes that littered the floor. Each balloon was filled with enough air that it would slowly lower the candy attached to the string on the bottom down towards the ground from midair. Yuko smiled triumphantly as she tied the final piece of chocolate onto the pink balloon and placed it into the box.

“Good luck,” Minami says, her hand lingering on Yuko’s shoulders to give her the extra energy. The latter gave her a brilliant smile and nodded as she picked up the box and ran to the top of the three-story building with a skip in her step.

The sun was blinding and the wind still as Yuko stood over the low safe rail and peered down to see the figure of Haruna walking out from the building.

“Harunyan!”

Haruna stared upwards, eyes round with surprised as the clear blue sky suddenly filled with colorful balloons gently raining down on her. A red balloon drifted close to her and her hand wrapped around the string, the candy with its cheesy “be mine” bringing a smile onto her face.

As the balloons and the corny Valentines candy showered down, Haruna laughed and cupped her hands around her mouth as she shouted the words, “I love you, Oshima Yuko!”

A Lily in the Garden of Roses
Matsui Jurina/Matsui Rena (WMatsui – School!AU)
753 words

Jurina’s in class writing down the notes on the board as her eyes stare fixatedly on the back of a girl crouching near the flower bed outside of her class.

The girl has pale skin and shiny black hair that falls down her slim back and large eyes that crinkle slightly when she’s concentrating. Her hands are kind and soft as they care for the flower with a tenderness Jurina’s never seen before – and she’s completely entranced.

“Matsui!”

A piece of chalk comes flying her way and it lands on her desk with a loud “ping!” before rolling away and leaving a flushed Jurina.

“Detention today for failing to pay attention,” the teacher glared. Jurina just sighed, embarrassed and annoyed, before meekly replying.

When the teacher finally stopped scolding her, Jurina scowled as she realized the girl had disappeared from the flower bed and gone back inside. The classes past at a sluggish pace afterwards and Jurina could feel her scowl growing bigger as her friends mocked her on their way out of school and back home. Then again, it didn’t really matter all too much since she didn’t have anyone to spend Valentine’s Day with.

The girl and her slim back still played in her mind and Jurina couldn’t help but glance back outside once last time. To her surprise, the girl was crouched down, straightening a wayward flower and before Jurina could fully understand what was happening, her feet were already pounding down the stairs and onto the dirt path that bordered the school doors.

Breathing heavily, her mind spun as the girl turned around to stare at Jurina with a confused look on her face.

Jurina felt her face flush. What was she thinking, running down to confront the girl without a plan? She was supposed to be smooth, a lady killer.

“Can I help you?” the girl asks with a sweet voice that almost made Jurina swoon. Almost.

“U-Uh, no, well, you can,” she stuttered, crouching down next to girl. With an embarrassed smile, she pointed to one of the flowers on the ground. “What’s this flower called?”

The girl turned towards where her finger was pointing at and smiled, a sudden change in her face taking place at the mention of her beloved flowers. “That’s a chrysanthemum, pretty isn’t it?”

“Yeah,” Jurina nodded, openly gaping at the overwhelming beauty of the smiling girl. Somehow shaking herself out of her reverie, she pointed to another vibrant closer.

“This one?”

“A cosmos.”

“This?”

And it went on and on until Jurina was sure she had pointed at every single flower in the flower bed. The girl looked happy without a trace of annoyance on her face.

“Sorry, I must be annoying you,” Jurina said, an apology forming on her tongue.

The girl looked shocked, hands quickly waving around to refute the statement. “No, no, no. Not at all, I’m actually really happy that the flowers are finally noticed by someone,” she smiled, almost embarrassed, “I guess that means I’ve been tagging good care of them for someone as pretty as you to notice.”

Jurina blushed heavily, staring as the girl’s own face started turning a bright red as realization of her words struck.

“Th-Thanks,” Jurina stuttered, her own scarlet cheeks matching the one on the other girl’s face. “But you’re much prettier than these flowers.”

The girl’s blush grew a vibrant red that matched the colors of the roses that stood in the middle of the flowerbed. “I, uh, um,” the girl fumbled around with one of the roses in the middle, plucking the rose carefully before handing it to Jurina, “Here, um, for the compliment.”

Jurina felt her face break into a large smile as she accepted the rose with both her hands. The girl felt the tips of her ears burst into flames as realization of her hasty actions – she had forgotten it was Valentine’s Day. The two fell into an embarrassed silence as they refused to look at each other, face adorned with red coloring that splashed their skin. Thankfully, it was broken by the irritated teacher who called out the window.

“Matsui Jurina, get back in here!” He shouted, waving his chalk in angry little circles.

Jumping up, Jurina shouted back a reply, “Coming!”

The girl looked at her, large eyes shining in the light of the sun. “I, um, I’m Matsui Rena,” she called after the retreating form of Jurina.

Jurina turned around and smiled, waving the rose. “Thank you for the Valentine’s gift, Rena!”

Cross My Heart and Hope to Die
Watanabe Mayu/Kashiwagi Yuki
395 words

There’s a box of chocolates hidden in Yuki’s hands as she sits next to Mayu.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” the younger girl greets, smiling at her before going back to sorting her boxes of chocolates.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Mayu,” Yuki says back, her eyes taking in the unending chocolates that are spread out in front of the cyborg-like girl. Her fingers tighten around her own box of chocolates as she says the obvious, “That’s a lot of chocolate.”

Mayu sighed, making a little whining noise in her throat as she takes another one and places it into the growing pile. “I’m sick of all this chocolate; I never want to see another.”

“O-Oh, is that so?”

The wrapping paper she’s put on the small box crinkles a little as Yuki places the chocolates back inside her pocket. Mayu throws her a confused look and holds out a hand, her face expectant.

“Don’t I get anything from you?”

Yuki blinks, her large eyes growing even wider as her famous overreacting side appears in her flustered state. Her hands fly as she vehemently denies any existence of chocolate and Mayu just stares at her, obviously not believing any of the excuses that leave the older girl’s mouth.

“It’s in your back pocket, isn’t it?”

She falls silently and sighs, taking out the box of chocolates almost reluctantly and placing them into the hands of Mayu.

“You said you didn’t want to see another chocolate so,” Yuki mutters, an embarrassed look at her face as she glances at the large stack of chocolates Mayu has.

“Is that what you were worried about?” Mayu asks as chuckles softly, tearing the wrapping off gently before popping a piece of chocolate into her mouth. “You’re obviously the exception to the rule.”

And Yuki’s blushing again because Mayu says it so casually that she’s embarrassed at even having worried about something as childish as that. Her mouth opens to say something to save herself from the overwhelming embarrassment, but nothing comes out. Mayu laughs as she watches Yuki flail silently and leans over to kiss the girl, shoving a piece of Yuki’s chocolate into her own mouth. Yuki smiles at the grinning Mayu with surprise as the girl hands her a box of chocolates, a nicely tied ribbon on the corner of the box.

“Besides, you’re the only one I give any to.”

Lost and Found in the Middle of Nowhere
Yuki/Rena (AKB48/SKE48)
2044 words

Heart Ereki!AU where G-Fingers is actually a thing.

A/N: Rena runs off, Yuki goes to look and find her. IT STARTS SO SERIOUSLY AND THEN BECOMES SO SILLY, WHAT IS THIS. I'M SO SORRY, THIS IS SO RANDOM AT THE END? LIKE ????? WHERE WAS I EVEN GOING WITH THIS. Well, whatever, enjoy TT u TT

The door of the bus closes behind Matsui Rena as she leaves and Yuki’s feet move after her before she can even think clearly.

"H-Hey, Catherine, where are you going?"

It's Yuko questioning her this time, eyes round and innocent as she stares curiously. It's also times like these that Yuki wants to break down and relinquish leadership immediately, the feeling of unworthiness overwhelming her in an instant.

"Looking for Sandy," she mumbles incoherently, sending Takamina a helpless look. The latter knowingly pats her on the back before turning to the confused, if not slightly disgruntled, band members.

As Yuki steps off the bus, she hears Takamina in the background, and wonders why she was appointed as leader in the first place.

***

Yuki is in front of Rena's apartment, the cold bricks digging into the illustrious costume as passersby’s whisper furiously. Her eyes flit around, looking for the girl as she ignores the growing discomfort of being surrounded by people alone.

"What the hell are you doing here?" A soft voice calls from next to her, irritation laced underneath the cold tone. "You stick out like a sore thumb."

Yuki turns to her, breathe catching in her throat as she avoids Rena's eyes, "I was waiting for you."

There's an uncomfortable pause and Yuki feels her shoulders being pushed down by the weight of it. Rena's unflinching eyes bore into her face and she starts fidgeting, wanting something - anything - to rid of the tension between the two of them.

"Come on, let's talk inside," Rena brushes past her, punching in the code to get inside the apartment.

Yuki only sighs as she follows the black-donned back of Matsui Rena.

***

It was strange how little control she had over herself in the presence of the rebellious member. Yuki shifted uncomfortably as a jacket and comfortable pants were thrown in her direction, Rena having retreated to the kitchen to make some tea and other miscellaneous snacks for the two. The shirt's a bit too tight and the jacket and pants a bit too loose, but that doesn't help distract Yuki. She was supposed to be the leader of the most famous band in Japan, not a fidgeting girl unable to convey the simplest of emotions.

"Here."

Rena hands her a cup, shocking her out of her thoughts. Yuki only manages a meek thank you and a nod, sipping the slightly spicy tea to distract herself from the piercing stare of the other.

"So," Rena starts, drawing out the word carefully as if she too wanted to avoid the coming conversation, "Why are you here?"

"You should know," comes her own vague reply.

Rena's eyebrow quirks, a humorless smile dawning her lips. "Enlighten me."

Yuki sighs; of course it wouldn't be as easy as she hoped it would. Nothing in her life was.

"I’m sorry."

The apology sounds hollow even to herself and Yuki feels her grimace growing bigger.

There's a soft snort of contempt. "We all are," Rena mutters, her voice sending shards through Yuki's heart.

***

They start yelling as soon as the clock chimes nine and it's not a quiet fight.

There's wild estuations made by Yuki as Rena glares at her, her normally soft voice pitched downwards in a stony anger that scares Yuki more than if it were loud yelling. Their voices ring in the apartment, bouncing and echoing off the walls. Suppressed anger come flying as the emotional dams in their chest bursts with flying insults and screams that burns their throats as they argue unabashed.

"The group comes before your selfish wants, Rena," Yuki hears her own voice rise in pitch and volume, an accusing finger jabbing into the slender shoulder of the other.

"You didn't even consider me, you never fucking do!" Rena yells at Yuki with invigorated anger, pushing the other girl roughly. "I'm always a second-thought to you!"

Yuki seethes and before Rena can blink, a hand comes flying at her cheek and leaves a burning sensation on the newly reddened skin. "G-Fingers is more important than you or me! If you don't think so, you can just leave the group!"

Rena sobers up almost immediately at the statement, but still remains fuming as she shoves Yuki against a wall. The slap stings and the new red print pulsate with anger and pain. She slams a hand repeatedly near Yuki's head, ignoring the ache in her palm, her voice cracking as she yells.

"I know that, of course I know that G-Fingers is the most important thing!"

The statements accusatory and Yuki obviously knows that she's stepped over the line by suggesting that Rena was disloyal to the group they had started together. There's a tense moment of silence as Yuki and Rena stare at one another, neither refusing to look away from the burning stare of the other. Yuki grimaces, expecting a blow from the other but instead feels a rough kiss pressed hastily against her lips, an equally rough hand jerking her head roughly to mash their mouths closer together. Yuki pushes Rena away, but before she can fully comprehend, she turns their positions so that she is on top with her own lips furiously attacking Rena's.

The kiss is a maddening as the baseless accusations, the boiling feelings of anger and lust mix-matching as sheer white floods through her thoughts. They've turned off all emotions, only acting upon anger-induced actions.

It's a blinding and thoughtless sequence as Rena's shirt gets lost during the process and Yuki's becomes loose, dangling listlessly on one shoulder - and there's tears. Somewhere in the anger, tears of frustration and pain had formed and Rena was crying unabashedly on her shoulder as the latter wraps her arms around the pale girl's shoulders. The lost tenderness in the vicious kisses before had been found and filled to form the tears that streams down Rena's face as Yuki runs her hands through the former's hair, clutching the girl tightly to herself as if it were a lifeline.

The quiet sobs fill the echoing room and Yuki can feel her own regrets overwhelming her.

***

They stay curled up on the lone couch Rena has in her apartment, limbs unwilling to extract from one another. There’s a comfortable but heavy silence of unspoken words between the two but Yuki refuses to break it by saying something that would shamble their relationship completely. Even after the fight, after the kissing, she’s still not sure If Rena had forgiven her. However, Rena is the first to move, the first to speak, and Yuki felt a breath of relief escaping from her lips.

Rena manages to convince Yuki to stay the night (“It would be bad if an idol was seen leaving an apartment at the dead of night,” Rena reasons), and Yuki just nods along.

An extra futon is laid out for her and they sleep back to back, unable to look at one another as an uneasy sleep befalls the two.

***

When she wakes up in the morning, Rena’s gone.

Yuki touches the futon and frowns at the cold that had settled in already. Rena had been gone for awhile and a quick search of the apartment showed that she hadn’t left anything except for a melon pan sitting on the table for Yuki.

She gets ready quickly, borrowing Rena’s clothes (she hoped the girl didn’t mind), and slips out the front door with a heavier burden on her shoulders.

There’s a huge commotion from the band as she arrives into the dressing room alone.

“So, Sandy ditched, huh?” someone mutters from the back, but a sharp glare from Yuki silences the girl.

The preparations to stand on stage pass by without much of a word from the other girls except hushed whispers and curious glances thrown towards Yuki.

“Those aren’t your clothes,” Yuko says into Yuki’s ear and the latter can’t help but jump at the sudden appearance. “Are they Rena’s?”

Yuki blushes, “Y-Yeah, but I’ll return them later.”

“Oho, so your relationship has already progressed this far?” There’s a smirk on Yuko’s face and Yuki could feel her face flushing a thousand degrees higher than the normal temperature. “What did you do to get her to come back? Angry makeup sex? I heard that was the best kind of sex, you know-“

“We didn’t do anything!” Yuki squeals, her face red and eyes round in exaggerated embarrassment. “Um, we fought a bit.”

Yuko raises her eyebrow in surprise, “You two? Fighting? Wait, let me guess, it was arguing and then angry makeup sex.”

“No! Well, kind of-“

“So, sex?”

“No sex!”

“But a heavy make out session, right?”

“Ye-, no!” Yuki covers her face, the slip of the tongue costing her a hefty mistake as Yuko’s smirk just grew bigger and bigger. “I have to go change now!”

“It’s ok, you can tell me everything!” Yuko laughs as she waves her arm in a mock goodbye. "Everything will work out in the end."

***

“Rena’s still not here.”

“You know, if you look at Yuki’s neck, you can see a couple of red spots.”

“Hickeys?”

“Angry makeup sex! I’m telling you, that’s what happened,” Rino whispers loudly to the group of huddled members.

There’s a massive collection of giggling and through the laughter and tears Aika asks couldn’t help but ask “Who tops?”

“Rena’s scary when mad so I’d go with her.”

“Yeah, but she seems like the ‘M’ type, doesn’t she? I’d say Yuki!”

“Ha, Yuki topping is the funniest thing I’ve heard.”

“Like you can say anything, Haruka. You’re obviously the bottom in our relationship,” Yui laughs, shoving the pouting Haruka’s shoulders softly.

“Ew,” Rina’s face scrunched up as the two started their quiet flirting next to her. “Annin, can I switch places with you, I don’t want to be by these two.”

“No.”

“Jurina?”

“Hell no, I’ve suffered through it before and I refuse to go back to the disgusting love-fest.”

“Anyone?”

“What are you guys talking about in the middle of practice?”

A hushed silence quickly envelopes the group of giggling girls as Minami looms near them, a cross look on her face. The short-haired girl had fretted all night and had been the most disappointed that Rena had not come back. Tapping her foot, she stares at the girls, eyes narrowed and mouth slanted in a frown.

“Angry-“ Rina starts before Sayaka quickly covers her mouth with her hand. “Angry, uh, angry feelings that come from not practicing properly? Yeah, that was it. Sorry, we’ll be going now!”

And with that the group scattered into their respective positions, relief evident on their faces as they narrowly escaped a scolding.

***

It’s another couple of hours and the camera and reporter from the TV channel comes.

Hysteria is evident on many of the members faces as they continuously delay the rehearsal and Yuki can feel her heart drop lower every second Rena failed to show. Haruna looks at her with a dejected expression and resignation on her lips that Yuki rightly ignores. She made a decision and she planned to stick with it.

Somewhere along the way, when Yuki herself was ready to call it quits, the door flings open and Rena walks in with their savior – but she doesn’t care about the famous man that would help revitalize the group. It’s a moment of absolute euphoria as she smiles at Rena and gets a big smile back. There was an apology mixed in there somewhere, but Yuki doesn’t care much for it as long as Rena is looking at her and only her.

“Seriously, makeup sex,” Rino mutters resolutely to Mayu.

Mayu laughs, “At least it seemed to work.”

***

Yuki walks home with Rena again, using the excuse of returning her clothes to spend more time with the girl. Their fingers are interlocked and swinging between their bodies as laughter sounds from both of them. G-Fingers was back together again, Rena was back, and she couldn’t help but think that the future looked brighter than it did before. There’s no real conclusion, no frank statement that their relationship had changed, but Yuki really doesn’t care.

They would have to reach an end eventually, but for the moment, all Yuki wants is another melon pan and a kiss.

A/N: Yes, it was serious and became very silly at the end and I'm still not quite sure how that happened. Anyhow, I shall update Operation: RIVER sometime this weekend I hope! The Final Prologue is coming up and possibly the first chapter ~ (also a bonus because I've been neglecting writing).

I hope you enjoyed this bipolar, extremely silly story of mine ; u ;

Prologue - Part IV

"First a prison, now an asylum," Yui whispered to herself, a frown on her face as she sauntered up to the girls waiting for her outside of the impeccably clean building of white. This time it had been Jurina and Yuki who had been forcibly dragged along with the captain; the three had met at a rendezvous site, a little ways away from the white colored asylum that loomed brightly against the lush green landscape.

“Is this the same place you brought Miichan and Mayu to?” Jurina questions as they walked towards the entrance of the grandeur asylum. Yuki made a discontent noise, a frown evident on her face as she looked at Yui with worried eyes.

Yui shook her head, “No, this is a different place.”

“Why was I brought along?”

A smile made it’s way on the general’s face, “I figured you would like to see your hero. Although, I’m not quite sure what mentality she’s in at the moment.” Yui whispered the last part, ignoring the pointed glare Yuki shot her.

Jurina’s eyes narrowed, disbelief etched all over her features. “Gekikara? Gekikara is alive?” Wonder filled her voice as her eyes got wide in a rush of joy and excitement, a large smile on her face as she started battering the two senior in relentless questions. “I thought the Shades killed her! That’s what all the news outlet said, that’s what Yuko-san declared when Unit Rappapa disbanded. How is she alive?”

Yui shrugged off the questions, momentarily pausing to whisper into a guard’s ear before allowing entrance into the asylum. Yuki grimaced, visibly uncomfortable as a bouncing Jurina kept badgering her with questions - she was unwilling to be the one to crush the young girl’s vision of her hero. Even more, she was reluctant to see how the poor Private would react to the disillusioned state of Matsui Rena.

“Would you like an escort?” the worker asked.

Yui shook her head, “Kashiwagi-san can lead us there. Right?”

“I know the way,” Yuki nodded, biting her lower lip in reluctance. The worker nodded and handed Yui a card and another packet.

"Just in case, good luck."

The walk there is a quiet one, with the exception of Jurina’s ceaseless questioning and exclamations of awe as she rattled on about her hero - the one who had helped save Nagoya, her hometown. However, in a complete turn from the optimism that surrounded the youth, the ex-Rappapa member’s face was serious as Yui questioned her softly.

“Am I right to say there is nothing between you two anymore?”

It was a biting question and Yuki resisted the urge to punch the other girl in the face. Instead, she clenched her fist tightly and looked straight forward, unwilling to look at Yui’s unnervingly calm face. “She broke it off before admitting herself here. There is nothing, and there will be nothing, between us.”

The statement hurt, the invisible pain spreading as her heart thumped along painfully in her too-tight chest. Yui’s face softened as Yuki let out a heavy sigh and nodded, “I’m sorry.”

It was only when they were in front of a heavy metal door that Jurina realized the two had long since stopped listening to her. However, a new feeling took place as she read the nameplate on the door, dread filling the happiness that had only recently taken ahold of her. Her hero was placed within a mental asylum. Her hero was placed behind a heavy door where only a punch code and DNA authorization could allow access into. All within seconds, the smile on her face left in a hurry and was replaced with a frown and round eyes of disbelief.

“Let’s proceed, shall we?”

Yui placed her hand on the print scanner that was placed next to the door and punched in the code. The door creaked up with a reluctant groan that made Jurina jump. However, what was inside the room filled the young private with horrified dread.

It was a white room, made and fortified with thrumming nullification magic that was placed into the cushiony substance. However, the pureness of the color was tainted by the smears of crimson - the room was bleeding as the cushiony substance was ripped and dripped with blood. The figure in the middle of the room was decorated in the same scarlet color, a crazy smile on her face as black hair curtained her dark eyes.

An eery laugh sent a shudder of fear down Jurina’s spine as the girl stepped closer towards the group, footstep in sync with the slam of the door behind them.

“Hey,” another laugh, “Are you mad?”

The girl moved her fingers, round balls of blood bouncing up and down from the open slits on her fingertips. Yuki stiffened as Yui stepped forward, hand outreached to touch the girl. “Matsui Rena-”

“Who’s that?”

The girl rolled her neck, loud cracks sounding as her bones crunched together and released. For a brief second, the black scars on her face were openly visible and her left eye was pure black. The balls of blood on her head went dissolved with a splat as the crimson liquid dripped between her fingers and hardened into a flexible casing that moved with her digits.

“Rena. You are Rena,” Yui said as she advance closer to the girl, footsteps cautious.

Before anyone could react, a hard punch came flying at Yui, hitting the girl squarely on the jaw and throwing her back against Jurina. A loud “oof” was heard as the Private caught the dazed General and went crashing to the ground.

“You’re no fun,” the girl said with a slight pout. Turning toward Yuki, a crazy grin lit up her face again, black eye shining wildly in invigorated adrenaline that came from the violence. “Hey, Black, are you mad? I hurt your friend, you know.”

She took a step.

“I hurt your friend.”

Another step.

“Are you mad?”

Yuki took a step backward.

“Are you mad?”

Step.

“Are you mad?”

Step.

“Are you mad?”

A fist is raised as the girl aimed another punch at the defenseless Yuki who was unwilling to hurt the girl in front of her. Closing her eyes, Yuki braced for the blow that was sure to come-

Thud.

Jurina and Yuki stared in surprise as the bloodied girl crumpled to a messy heap on the floor, a dart large enough to put out a elephant stuck in her back.

“Shit, that hurt,” Yui said as she held her cheek, a ripped tranquilizer packet given by the cautious worker from before held in her clenched fist. There’s mild humor in her voice as she held out a hand for the stunned Jurina, “Maybe some warning next time.”

***

"I'm so sorry."

The girl played with her cuffed wrists, black painted fingernails chewed to the nub. She looked downcast, her hair covering the left side of her face.

Yui rubbed her face, jaw sore at where she had been punched by the girl. "It's ok, I've had worse," she said.

Yuki glanced over, concerned at the ugly purple bruise spreading on Yui's skin. However, as Rena's fingers tightened around her own, her attention quickly turned back to the insane girl. The past affections were still there, lingering between the two although neither did anything to rekindle the feelings that still burned in their hearts. The fire of love had left an unerasable mark on their hearts that went forcibly ignored; only connected hands kept the two together once again. The attraction was evident to the onlookers and something unpleasant twinged in Jurina's chest as she watched the thin hand of her hero grasp Yuki's as if it were a lifeline. She didn't know what it was, and she didn't want to.

Ignoring the high emotional tensions in the room, Yui glanced at the military insignia brandished boldly on the palm of Rena's right hand, the bloody flecks from their skirmish still evident on the white skin. She was uncontrollable and Yui hesitated in inviting the girl into their mission. Uncontrollable was bad, it would cause problems with irreversible damage to the members and their cause. That was obvious, yet, Yui wavered.

Yuki caught sight of the hesitation from the corner of her eye and frowned.

"General-"

"Kashiwagi-san, what would you say if I refused to bring Matsui Rena on the battlefield?"

Yuki flinched. She hadn't expected the straightforward question. No, she hadn't expected anything the commander had thrown at her at all. Rena's fingers squeezed Yuki's painfully tight and the raven haired girl stared dolefully at the white floor, face ashen with remorse and failing health.

Jurina stood behind Yui, her heart painfully thudding as she saw the pitiful sight of her hero - her saviour. What had happened to the confident warrior who had slayed the most Shades in the history of the nation. What had happened to her?

"I would be the one to bring her from one hell to a greater one," Yui stated, staring at the mentally unstable girl. "It would be unsightly of me to do so."

She fixated her eyes on Yuki's, "If she went on a rampage, it would be our duty to kill her."

The black-hearted girl sobered up, her face stony. The only trace of uncertainty was seen in her thumb as she rhythmically stroked Rena's knuckles.

Rena nodded slowly, the words taking long to comprehend in her muddled mind as emotions swirled within her in an unending vortex. "Perhaps, it would be best if I stayed," the words were slow and carefully thought out, a painstakingly sluggish pace that drove the needle deeper into the hearts of those around her. "But, I don't want to be here."

"Take me with you." Rena looked at Yui, large eyes brimming with tears and a shine of desperation, of unmovable stubbornness. "And if I go out of control, if I get even a step close to harming an innocent bystander, you have permission to kill me on the spot."

"Rena," Yuki started before being cut off by a sharp glance by said girl.

"If I don't go, someone else will die because I wanted to live in this useless existence," she sweeped her arms toward the white walls that bordered the four with contempt, her face twisting in bitterness. "And I refuse to let someone suffer for my selfishness."

Jurina felt her chest swell with a deep breath, admiration growing twofold as she watched the weakened soldier stare at her commander with unflinching resolution. Underneath the shadow of her green cap, the start of a wide smile played at the corner of her lips as Yui started chuckling, an equally impressed on her own lips. Only the two Rappapa members looked befuddled as Yui reached over and took Rena's free hand in her own.

"You pass."

Rena stared.

"What?"

Yui shrugged as if it were an easy decision, the laughter only growing as the confused look on Rena's face grew bigger. "You managed to convince me, thus, you pass."

A celebratory mood suddenly befell on Rena's previously sullen face, a large toothy grin making her whole countenance beam with gratitude. Her eyes were still wide with surprise as she shook Yui's hand with unexpected vigor, new-found strength coursing through her veins. Even the darkened side of her face glimmered with happiness, the red eye shining.

Yui stood and motioned Jurina forward, the latter pulling out a carefully folded green military uniform from the bag she had been carrying the whole time. She bowed as she presented it to Rena, admiration shown openly on her face as she said:

“Welcome to UNIT 48.”

Operation: RIVER
Wmatsui, YuiParu, Mayuki, Kojiyuu, Marimii + other side couples.
Military/Apocalypse!AU

Operation: RIVER

Mission Plan

UNIT 48 Members

Yokoyama Yui (Otabe): Leader of UNIT 48, Strategist
Rank 4 - General
Superior Intelligence – Nullification
Able to nullify any powers via touch.

Relying mostly on her intelligence, she stays out of most fights and tends to lead the battle from a place where she is able to see everything. However, she does carry a handgun and tranquilizer darts in case of emergencies. Yui rarely shows what she is thinking or feeling, but takes every mistake seriously and often stresses herself out too much. Overworking is a frequent habit of hers.

Kashiwagi Yuki (Black): Messenger, Scout
Rank 2 - Captain
Super Speed – Shadow Manipulation
Sends messages from battlefield to Headquarters.

Soft-hearted and kind, Yuki only goes into battle when forced to, but when she does, all hell breaks loose. Her ability to blend in and control shadows gives her an advantage in darker places and she had perfect 20/20 vision. Due to her shadow manipulation and super speed, she is the one to go back and forth from the battle field to intelligence center if technology is made unavailable.

Kojima Haruna
(Torigoya): Intelligence, Sniper
Rank 2 - Captain
Shape Shifter – Fauna Communication
Can change form to any animal.

Somewhat of an airheaded, Haruna hates confrontation and usually stays away from diving headfirst into an issue. Her talent, shape shifting, also allows her to communicate with animals and get information from them. Her nature survival skills are a crucial advantage for the unit. She also has a good sense of aim, thus doubling as a sniper.

Maeda Atsuko (Acchan): Medic, Offensive
Rank 3 - Colonel
Abnormal Healing Speed – Poison Manipulation
Only one able to remove poison from Shades.

Atsuko enjoys being serious, but she is easily angered and can show a silly side when prompted too. Sharp and quick-witted, she's very good in battle because of this as well as being an equally impressive actress. She is the only one with the ability to stop and remove Shades' poison (depending on how long they've infected a person).

Matsui Jurina (Center): Offensive, Scout
Not Ranked - Private
Fire Manipulation – Advanced Fighting Skills
Ability to create and manipulate fire by will.

One of the three aces of the trainees, Jurina possesses a high stamina and endurance that proves her to be an excellent fighter. Although her control on her talent, fire, is not incredibly stable, she does make good use of the skill. She is also a survivor from the Sakae, Nagoya massacre that took place eight years ago.

Matsui Rena (Gekikara): Offensive
Rank Three - Colonel
Blood Manipulation – High Pain Tolerance
Unable to feel any physical pain.
Warning: Highly unstable, requires careful control.

One of the infamous members of UNIT Rappapa, the unit was disbanded after a life-threatening injury. The left side of Rena's face had been clawed by a particularly powerful Shade, but somehow she survived. The poison within her reacts to intense emotions and may cause her to go on a rampage. She is the only known person to have survived after being infected.

Minegishi Minami (Shaku): Sniper, Messenger
Not Ranked - Private
Enhanced Marksmanship – Camouflage
Ninety-Eight percent accuracy when shooting.

One of the three ace trainees, Minami has an unparalleled 98% accuracy when shooting - guns, slingshots, stones, anything. In addition, she has the highest hit count of Shades killed as her other skill, camouflage, and  excellent vision allows her to hide safely while shooting down the Shades. An ideal soldier in night ambushes.

Oshima Yuko (Korisu): Offensive, Scout
Rank 4 - General
Mimicry – Power Adaption
Ability to adapt and mimic any power via touch.

Leader of the disbanded UNIT Rappapa, Yuko is one of the strongest fighters to ever have joined the military. Her quick feet and equally quick thinking skills proves her to be excellent in battle as well as a great scout. However, she refused the title of Second-in-Command; her questionable loyalty to the military should be taken cautiously.

Shimazaki Haruka (Paruru): Offensive
Not Ranked - Private
Electricity Manipulation – Weather Control (only in presence of lightning)
Ability to manipulate electron particles in the air.
Warning: Unable to fully control power when emotional or in presence of intense storms.

Shrouded by mystery, Haruka was one of the first inhabitants of Prison HOPE and one of the longest. Her power to control electricity is a deadly one if used carelessly. In the presence of lightning storms, however, her talent goes out of control due to the sudden power-up that the storm presents. Not much is known about her except she is related to Yokoyama Yui somehow.

Shinoda Mariko (Sado): Offensive, Medic
Rank 3 - Colonel
Water Manipulation – Healing Knowledge
Ability to create and manipulate water by will.

A bit of a tease in and outside of battle. Although Mariko can seem to be uncaring and overly strict, she cares deeply for all the members and strives to keep them as healthy and safe as possible. Her talent is water manipulation, including ice and steam, and the purification of water for healing purposes. Although she can't remove or stop the Shades' poison, she is capable of healing physical injuries.

Takahashi Minami (Takamina): Second in Command, Medic
Rank 4 - General
Energy Manipulation – Advanced Healing Knowledge
Able to contain poison from Shades.

The Second-in-Command after Oshima Yuko refused the position, Minami takes great care in keeping all the members safe. Although she can be a bit of a pushover, her overly cautious mindset is important in situations of danger. Her energy manipulation lets her steal and reroute streams of energy which can be dangerous if used incorrectly.

Watanabe Mayu (Nezumi): Strategist, Intelligence
Not Ranked - Private
Superior Intelligence – Precognition
Able to see the future.
Warning:  Visions may be inaccurate due to Dream Manipulators or when in highly emotional states.

One of the three ace trainees, Mayu cunning and genius is unparalleled except by Yokoyama Yui. Although not much in battle, she can hold her own when needed to. Her ability of precognition helps predict future events and is crucial when planning their future missions. However, the talent may be manipulated by Dream Manipulators or when highly emotional.

Previews

Star, Star, Star (WMatsui)

Matsui Rena is in love.

Her heart would flutter rapidly in her chest and sometimes she would catch herself staring at Matsui Jurina with hopes of something more than the casual brushes or small talk. Sometimes she would catch Jurina's eyes and the latter would smile (and Rena would stare down at her hands with a crimson blush adorning her cheeks).

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

She didn't have a chance with Jurina and never would.

Hopeless, why even try?

Not when she was with Takayanagi Akane or whomever she decided to be with that day. Rena had no chance - she wasn't talkative, she wasn't popular, she wasn't normal. She was dirty, disgusting, weird, and anything but normal.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

***

Operation: RIVER

“You’re kidding, right?”

Jurina stares at the folded bandana that was handed to her with something akin to disgust. On the other hand, the two rookies simply looked confounded as colored bandanas were handed to them by the two Leader and Second-in-Command.

"I'm serious," Yui nods before sitting back down at the head of the long table, a smile on her face as she takes in the confused expressions of the unit members. "It is special training - capture the flag."

***

Breaking the Frame (YuiParu)

This time Haruka walks closer to the person and resists the urge to kick the mechanic who was still obliviously humming along. However, the garage is a lot darker than it seems and Haruka stumbles over a metal pipe that's lying haphazardly on the ground. A squeak of surprise flies out as her hand rams against the wall in an effort to stop her fall and lands on one of the many posters that decorated the sides of the garage. Empty cans and other miscellaneous tools also come crashing down as she manages to stop from landing on her face.

Startled, the mechanic slides out from underneath the car with a look of surprise that quickly turns into a business-like smile at the sight of a customer and - oh.

Haruka just stares, her mouth slack with hints of drool at the corner of her mouth. The mechanic cocks an eyebrow, a playful smirk playing on the corner of her lips as she gestures to the poster Haruka's hand was on. She says something but Haruka's short-circuited brain doesn't compute anything except for the sound of a sweet voiced.

Although she's taken aback by the thick Kyoto accent - that was outrageously attractive - it doesn't stop from her openly ogling the girl in front of her. The blood flushes to her cheeks as she takes in the sight of toned arms that are openly bared, and an even nicer set of legs and hips that are displayed by the sinfully short jeans; there's a couple of grease stains here and there, but that only magnifies the attractiveness of the mechanic.. It's an incredible sight and she suddenly has the urge to thank Rina instead of murdering her for lending her such a shitty car in the first place. Haruka sees her laughing and talking about something again, but nothing translate in her mind except for the though: damn, she was hot.

There's also a MaYuki one I have partially written, but that's on my iPod, so there won't be any spoilers for that one!

Dancing with Silhouettes
Sayaka/Miyuki (AKB48/NMB48)
1384 words
Depression/Suicide!AU

A/N: i hate myself. very overdue fic written for a friend’s birthday (sorry this is super late, oops)

Miyuki sank beneath the warm water of the bath.

Her ears were quickly muffled by the surging water, echoing only what she heard inside of her. She hears the sounds of her own pounding heart as it beat against the ribs of her chest, threatening to burst spontaneously as air drizzled from the corner of her lips. Her chest tightens, caving inwards; she can feel her whole body contort painfully. It twists, inside and out. It mangles itself ravenously as her lungs shriek in protest.

It was only when a surge of pain slammed her chest did Miyuki dare to release her breath and rush upwards; past the cascading water and tightening pressure of silence and dread.

She pants, gasping for the traces of oxygen that would fill her deprived body. Her head spins as she lay in the searing water. It was only then she could feel her heart thudding violently against her chest.

It was only then she could feel alive.

—-

Contrary to popular belief of the slow anguish and self-torture that many are believed to go through, Watanabe Miyuki had woken up one day to face a stark realization: she wanted to die.

Everything changed in a gradual occurrence of sluggish movements and prolonged words as Miyuki lived day to day with nothing more but the increasingly heavy burden of doubt that weighed on her shoulders.

Could it even be considered doubt?

Perhaps it was absolute certainty that twisted itself into a malicious being that entrapped her within the perpetual cycle of procrastination and a fading joy of idol-work that had filled her with never-ending passion only years ago; a foot dragged here, eyes glazed over there, laughter — humorless and wry — sounded much more frequently. However, only a few had noticed the imperceptible changes.

Yamamoto Sayaka had been one of the few.

She had taken notice almost immediately, but said nothing of it. Her gaze stopped and trailed in masked concern, smoothly summoning a smile whenever Miyuki had noticed; a never-ending game with neither of them knowing who was in the wrong. And so the days dragged on as Miyuki dimmed and Sayaka grew brighter. Words diminished with the smiles and Sayaka still stayed silent as Miyuki laughed.

She had gotten a call one day, when she was in Tokyo practicing for a stage performance.

“Miyuki? What’s wrong?”

The line stays silent, crackling with electricity and poor connection until Sayaka wonders if the other had mistakenly called. Right as she goes to press the “hang up” button, a shallow breath sounds along with a wispy voice that exhales the words:

“I just wanted to hear your voice.”

The call drops and Sayaka’s left with nothing more than the artificial lights shining upon her.

—-

When she meets Miyuki a few days later for rehearsal, the unvoiced questions torrent out in hushed whispers as she presses the girl against a wall, fingers digging tightly into her slender shoulders. Miyuki winces and mutters a soft “ouch” to voice the biting pain, eyes wide with shock.

“Are you alright? Are the SKE girls treating you properly?”

Her voice escalates until a few of the other members are staring, narrowed eyes and slack mouths. Sayaka retracts her fingers when Miyuki flinches once more and ignores the looks; concern washing away any spark of embarrassment.

Or at least, that’s what she wanted to do.

Sayaka likes to imagine that’s what she would’ve done if it wasn’t for Miyuki chattering with one of the other girls from SKE, looking as happy as can be with that toothy smile of hers. There’s nothing to indicate that the owner of the broken voice over the phone was hers and Sayaka can only stare for awhile before being jokingly teased for being “infatuated with Milky” (which in its own accord, is not an untrue statement).

She doesn’t know what it means when Miyuki looks over with brimming eyes at the statement, but she laughs it off anyways and tries to ignore the flash of hurt that ripples through Miyuki’s beautiful smile.

 —-

Sayaka likes to reason with herself a lot – that the whole incident wasn’t her fault.

(–Although it might as well have been.)

Sometimes the reasons are ridiculous; she couldn’t have helped Miyuki even if she wanted to (she could’ve, and should’ve), Miyuki hadn’t told anyone (she had told Sayaka before), and her favorite, she didn’t know (she did).

(She knew for a long time – but that wasn’t part of the reasons.)

Sometimes the reasons have a scientific basis – not enough sunlight means vitamin D deficiency, or it’s just the changing seasons bringing a lull – but that doesn’t mean it’s still not ridiculous.

—-

The last time she sees Miyuki is the first time she kisses her.

Miyuki puts her lips against Sayaka and Sayaka doesn’t kiss back even though it’s something she’s wanted forever – and forever is a long time.

Then Miyuki is gone and Sayaka’s left by herself in the corner of the dressing room with her mouth still molded in the shape of Miyuki’s lips.

—-

Sayaka likes how there are no scars on Miyuki’s body, no blemish that defiles the purity of her white skin besides a layer makeup and the lone mark – too faded to see clearly – from when she had fallen when she was younger.

It’s only fate that Miyuki kills herself by slashing her wrists in jagged strips.

“She looked like she was sleeping,” one of the members half-mutters half-sobs, and Sayaka just nods her head numbly as if still processing the image; the whole thing is bizarre.

Miyuki’s eyes were closed and the faint outline of a smile was evident on her face as her blood left her body in a frightening pace, but Sayaka could only see the imperfections that Miyuki had decided to scratch upon herself on the final moments of life.

Sayaka’s upset, she really is, and she feels like crying, but for the moment she’s only interested in why Miyuki decided to mark her perfect skin to pieces.

It really doesn’t make sense.

—-

Tears are shed and the funeral procession passes with huge commotion as the media goes wild with headlines boldly showing “Idol Commits Suicide” and other miscellaneous titles that may or may not pertain to Watanabe Miyuki herself.

Sayaka ignores all of them because it’s still hard to believe that Miyuki is dead.

Sometimes she calls her on the phone, to tell her some exciting news about her new Team K, but then the other members look at her sadly (Yui always placing a heavy hand on her shoulder or Nana shaking her head slightly as she takes the phone and places it on the table – away), and she remembers that Miyuki’s not there anymore.

She’s not quite sure if it’s Miyuki being gone or the realization there was no one on the other side of the phone anymore that makes the breath in her throat stop.

—-

She doesn’t sleep much anymore.

She’d like to sleep, but she can’t. Every time she lies down, she’s reminded of Miyuki’s last moment and how she looks – looked – like she was sleeping: barely parted lips in a faint hint of a smile, eyelids barely shut as if they would flutter open at any moment, and an unclenched fist that revealed long fingers ready to grasp onto whatever life would throw at her next.

Sayaka is prescribed sleeping pills and sometimes Maachun or some other member will make her take it but usually she leaves it sitting in the orange container as she imagines Miyuki’s face and tries to recall her warm lips on hers one last time.

It scares her that she barely remembers the shape of them.

—-

When she closes her eyes, she dreams about Miyuki and they’re laughing and smiling in the dream. Miyuki kisses her once more and this time Sayaka doesn’t run away; instead, she holds her close in her arms and kisses her right back until they’re out of breath and giggling again. Happy, they’re happy.

Sayaka decides she wants this dream to last forever.

When she opens her eyes, there’s a bright orange container of sleeping pills next to her.

When she closes her eyes again, she’s with Miyuki again and this time she knows its forever.

That is tough to understand anybody when they feel desperate to go away but knowing that you can't do anything, it was fate to follow the same path

A/N: drunk couple drabbles

It comes as a surprise when Miyuki calls her at 2 AM in the morning.

At first, Sayaka’s tempted to ignore the call — sleep an undeniably temptation — but the drowsiness quickly fades with each continuous ring of her phone until she has her fingers wrapped around it, half-consciously pressing the “talk” option as she presses the cold metal against her ear.

"Hello?"

There’s a moment of silence as she waits for a reply through the crackling noise of the line. Another minute passes before she has a finger poised over the “end call” button, eyelids fluttering as blissful sleeps beckons—

"Hi, I’m drunk."

The familiar voice of the caller drives all the remaining sleepiness away as Sayaka jolts into reality, eyes wide as she hurriedly replies “Miyuki, is that you? What are you doing— wait you’re drunk?” The words are a bit slurred and she fumbles on a bit of the pronunciation, but she’s sure Miyuki understands what she’s saying because all she gets as a reply to the concern in her voice is a soft chuckle.

Her eyes narrow as she stares at the screen of her phone, lips drawn back into a tight line of worry; she knows she’s rambling by now and she knows for sure that Miyuki has stopped paying attention to her scolding, but she’s worried and the words come out before she can stop them—

"I love you."

The confession is quick and the line drops as soon as the words are transmitted into electricity and Sayaka feels her heart stop along with the noise on the other side.

—-

There’s a bottle of opened beer sitting in front of Yui and although she’s sure she drank about five by now, she’s still not remotely near drunk.

Haruka on the other hand has had three beers and is reasonably out of her mind as she whines on Yui’s shoulder.

"Yu—-i, pay attention to me," Haruka complains as she places her hands on Yui’s cheek, stretching and pulling the skin until she has to take the drunkard’s hands and still them with her own.

But Yui doesn’t mind because this is the only time she can have Haruka sit on her lap as if it were the easiest thing in the world, this is the only time Haruka let’s Yui pretend they’re everything she wants them to be.

"I love you," comes a quick confession from her own lips and Haruka just stares with the hazy look and smiles before slumping over on Yui’s shoulder without a reply.

Haruka mumbles something inaudible and Yui can only pretend the words are the ones she wants to hear the most.

Over and Over Until the Future Disappears
Sayaka/Miyuki (AKB48/NMB48/SKE48)

A/N: Because why not, i’m horrible

The first time she meets her is in the jail cell of the palace.

Watanabe Miyuki is a slave and after refusing the guard’s advances, she was stuck in jail and sentenced to death. She looks happy.

She quickly discovers Miyuki can’t read and so she teaches her with the hay that lines the bottom of the cell. They have all the time in the world.

Miyuki’s put to death by poison days later; she doesn’t watch. Instead, she has to stop and breath as the hay, meticulously arranged in the cell, read the words “thank you.”

—-

They meet three times, they fall in love three times.

The second time is in Tokyo and they live as petty thieves until Sayaka is taken away by the police and released years later. Miyuki had been killed in the arrest.

The third time is in New York, the bustling city of opportunity that sprang to world prominence. Miyuki gets a job in a factory, Sayaka joins her. They live their lives quietly and in poverty until disease takes Miyuki away again.

The fourth is in Japan again, and this time, the first time, they meet and live their lives until Miyuki dies at age sixty-five.

—-

Watanabe Miyuki is a student in Hiroshima, 1945. The world is in chaos after a bloody war in Europe and Asia — Sayaka doesn’t pay attention to anything except how Miyuki’s lips turn into a tight frown.

Threat of nuclear bombs; surreal and foreign. It can’t be, teachers say to calm students but it ends up happening anyways.

There’s a buzz of machinery above them and a high-pitched scream of blazing steel that cascade down. Miyuki’s hand is tight around hers until the force of the bomb sends them flying ten meters apart from each other.

When she regains consciousness, Miyuki is gasping from breath and she feels her heart break as bloody fingers touch the pale cheek.

"Goodbye, Sayaka," Miyuki says with a smile and the whole world shatters into atoms.

—-

This is their sixth time now, but in the mountains of Switzerland.

Sayaka’s lost track of time a long while now but a fleeting glimpse of brown hair and a bright smile has her running in the street corners. There’s a small cafe with an unpronouncible name and the waitress smiles and asks for a name but Sayaka brushes past her and sits in an occupied booth across from a girl reading a book.

"Hello."

The girl looks up, startled, glasses lopsided just like her puzzled smile. “Hi.”

—-

"How many times has it been now?"

Her head is resting in Miyuki’s lap, face buried in her stomach. Miyuki pets her hair, long fingers gently parting strands to her liking.

It’s been a year since the cafe incident and Sayaka had told her everything during the time; the past, their first meeting, and this is the sixth time she’s told their continuing story.

"Six."

Miyuki makes an awed noise, something akin to a soft “oh.” Her fingers keep working and Sayaka just shrugs.

"You always said you wanted to go to Switzerland. I waited for ninty-four years."

Miyuki lifts Sayaka’s head up so she can crawl in her arms instead, whispering apologies. “I’m sorry,” there’s a sheepish smile before the apology is blocked by a kiss.

—-

Miyuki lives to be eighty-three this time.

Sayaka is at her side the entire time, hand clasped tightly as Miyuki breathes her last breath and the world resets again.

Let's Fly
Yui/Haruka (AKB48)
2061 words

A/N: Hahahahahahahhahaaahaha no plot all fluff Yuiparu holla

"Hello? Can you hear me?"

Haruka’s voice is shaky and crackling with electricity as Yui turns up the volume of her laptop, nodding her head.

"Yeah, I can hear you. You’re a bit blurry though. Must be the hotel wifi," Yui mumbles as she fiddles with the charger, making sure her laptop’s green light was on. Last time they had Skyped, her laptop had died and that had left for a very huffy girlfriend.

"As long as I’m not vaguely human-shaped like last time, its alright," Haruka laughs, the red sunlight filtering in through the blinds behind her. "Wait, the sunlight's in the way, let me move— Bis no!"

Yui winces as the laptop in Haruka’s hands clatter downwards onto the wooden floor, laying slightly askew as a giant furball comes to lick at the camera. “Bis that’s gross!” She laughs as the cat moves away, rubbing its side on the camera once more as Haruka’s hands come into view from behind the layer of cat spit that’s smeared all over now.

The camera blackens as she hears Haruka furiously clean at camera, an irritated, but inaudible, murmurings sounding. In a matter of seconds, her girlfriend’s face is back on screen — a little miffed as she pouts, being sure to close the door behind her. She’s lying on a bed now, mirroring Yui’s own position as her arms cross beneath her chin, all of that towered on top of a white pillow.

"Your cat is the devil and he hates me. Still," Haruka moans, fingers moving upwards to wipe the last of the smudge from the camera.

She laughs, “Bis loves you, but not as much as me.”

"Ew," Haruka sticks out her tongue, trying to look disgusted but unable to hide the blush that undeniable spreads across her cheeks. "That’s so cheesy, I’m going to hang up on you."

Yui smiles as Haruka goes on about her day, only speaking to prompt the younger girl further. She wants to know everything, from how delicious the ramen she had with Sayaka for lunch was to the evening class she had just come home from; she wants to know everything so she can talk with Haruka as though she was right next to her and not halfway across the world in Los Angeles, California. She laughs at Haruka’s jokes, even if they’re not that funny (but Yui still thinks they are), and she gets worried even if Haruka insists she’s alright because she — Yokoyama Yui — is head-over-heels in love with Shimazaki Haruka.

The steady stream of words slowly trail to a stop, as though Haruka had exhausted her word supply, and Yui’s left smiling goofily at the camera in the silence.

"Stop being creepy,"Haruka says, but she’s smiling so Yui doesn’t really care. “How’s Los Angeles?”

"Alright, the same as any place. Oh, reminds me," Yui waggles her eyebrows, using the best American accent she can pull off — although the words still come out a bit wrangled and heavily accented. "I love you!"

"I am not English."

"Your replies have gotten quicker," she chuckles, reverting back to Japanese after Haruka’s pitiful attempt at English. "Does that mean I failed?"

"No, it means go to bed. Isn’t it two AM for you?" Haruka scolds, a finger wagging at the camera. “What are you doing, staying up?”

"Talking to you, which is worth more than sleep." It’s a disgustingly cheesy confession, but it’s been months since she’s last seen Haruka and quite frankly, she doesn’t care anymore. "I want to kiss you."

"Gross."

"Let me be romantic," she rolls backwards, shifting the computer so its on her stomach and balanced on her knees so the camera is angled to reflect her face still. "But really, I miss you."

"Me too. Hurry back to Japan, I don’t think I can live off of fast food and Miyuki’s cooking any longer. The girl is trying to kill me, I swear. She’s burned everything she’s given me — thinks I’m a trashcan or something."

"A cute trashcan."

"Still a trashcan, you idiot. Now go to sleep, Miyuki’s coming over soon anyways and I still look like I just rolled off the streets," Haruka waves, smiling brightly as she makes a heart with her hands.

The line goes dead and Yui’s left staring at the white message screen as Haruka types one last message: “I love you, sleep well.”

—-

Yui’s been to fourteen countries in five continents: Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, USA, Cananda, Brazil, England, France, Italy, Czech Republic, India, Germany, China, and Japan.

She doesn’t stay for long in each place, maybe a two days, maybe a week, but its been five months since she’s been traveling and there’s another month to go in Europe before she’s allowed back to Japan — to see Haruka. With her she always carries her camera, a manila folder filled with photographs and paperwork, passport, laptop, and other miscellaneous items like clothes and the such; its hard being a travel photographer, but she loves the job.

Haruka, on the other hand, is still a college student, working for a degree in history because unlike everything else in school, it doesn’t bore her. Or at least, bore her as much.

"I want to see the Notre Dame too!" Haruka whines while Yui’s in France, munching on a pastry of some unpronouncable name that she doesn’t even bother trying to say. "I’ve seen the Disney Hunchback movie and ugh— you’re so lucky Yui."

"Wait, you want to see the famous monument because of a Disney movie?” Her voice is incredulous, but Haruka only quirks an eyebrow as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Isn’t the fact you’re majoring in history a better reason?”

"I’m majoring in Asian history, not European."

Yui wants to prod on, but she lets the subject go as she finishes the last of the pastry — it was quite delicious — and licks the crumb off her lips. “I’ll take you here one day, we can go on a world tour together. How does that sound?”

"Tiring."

She whines, “Haru—kaaa!”

The girl from the screen laughs, smiling brightly as she types in a mocking heart emoticon in the chat that only furthers the frown on Yui’s face.

"I’m kidding, I would love to." Haruka grins toothily, the red hood of her oversized hoodie slipping and covering her eyes. Yui stares, smiling back moronically because Haruka is cute. Really cute. She hates — really loves — how cute she is.

"Good!"

"So what did you have in France? No lovely ladies seducing you with French foods or any sorts?"

"Many," Yui chuckles, wanting to tease her girlfriend, "But I shot them all down— but that one girl, what a waste."

"Wh-Wha— Yokoyama Yui, if you cheat on me I swear I’m kicking you out and keeping your cat." Haruka’s voice is threatening, eyes narrowed in a glare, but the whole act is unconvincing because she wouldn’t dare. Or at least Yui hopes she wouldn’t.

"I’m kidding! The only thing I did today was take pictures and grab some fast food. The French apparently really like McDonalds."

Haruka snickers, “Because French fries?”

Yui moans, “You’re so lame.”

"French toast?"

"Stop."

"Oh, French horn?"

Yui contemplates slamming her laptop shut and taking a nap. “No, that’s not even edible you idiot.”

The rally goes on as Haruka googles items with the word French in it as Yui’s left wondering why she’s dating such an idiot. Oh yeah, she loves her. That’s important.

When the last of the giggles subsides, she’s back to work touching up the photos: changing filters, coloring the backgrounds to make it more vibrant, etc etc. It’s not particularly the most fascinating sight, but she appreciates how Haruka stays quiet so she can work — the quality if the pictures did determine the income she made.

"Sorry, I’m almost—" she trails off as her eyes catch sight of the red blob that’s replaced Haruka on the screen. The girl’s face, partially hidden by the hood, is relaxed, lips slightly parted and eyes shut in a dream-like quality if it weren’t for the blanket wrapped haphazardly around her waist. Bis comes up too, nuzzling his cheek against the camera and mewling before curling into Haruka’s side, fur pushed up against the palm of her hand.

Yui smiles because it’s all she can do as her heart threatens to burst and the swelling feeling inflates her chest as she whispers a soft “good night” and ends the call.

—-

A week flies by with no calls between the two. She flies from Europe to Asia, China to be precise, in the last stretch of her journey.

She’s on the Great Wall when Haruka decides to call.

"Hello?" The line softens and there’s only the gentle sounds of an exhale that leaves her more confused than anything. "I’m a bit busy Haruka, I’m sorry I’ll call you back tonight—!"

"I love you," and the line clicks into silence.

Yui drops her phone.

She calls back in a hour, panting as she escapes the sun and the carbon dioxide filled air with a side-dives into a small café to avoid being run over by a crowd of people.

Voicemail hits almost immediately.

"This is Shimazaki Haruka, I’m not here. Leave a message or call later."

She debates throwing her phone but there’s already a large vertical crack near the right side from when she dropped it earlier and it wouldn’t be good if she missed an important call — like business, but Haruka too.

Tomorrow, she would be going back, tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.

—-

The last plane ride into Japan is the most tiring one as it seems to drag on and on. The engine issues delayed the 2P.M. flight time and lost luggage issues and other miscalleneous details regarding the airport itself deterr the journey back home for even longer.

Needless to say, Yui was irritated.

When the airplane finally takes off, she doesn’t bother sleeping through the entire ride and manages to shove her way through the crowd and be the first one off the flight. There’s one carry-on backpack strapped on and another fairly small suitcase that drags behind her as she hauls a taxi, reading off the address with spit-fire speed.

She hadn’t bothered telling Haruka that she would be coming back today, wanting to surprise the girl, and a large smile grew on her face. What kind of surprised look would she get?

She hopes it’s a kiss instead of the more likely punch on the arm.

The fantasy is still strong as Yui steps off the cab, tipping more than any sane person would, before jumping on the elevator and running to the door of Haruka’s and her shared apartment—

Locked.

Oh.

Yui fumbles, dropping her backpack as she rummages through her pockets before remembering that she had lost the key long ago in the streets of Toronto (fell down into the sewer). Her phone conveniently decides to run out of battery when she tries to call and the thing drops and shatters completely — useless with the touchscreen in a million pieces.

"Why, why, why, why, why?" She moans, forehead hitting the metal door as she took a look at the time.

Seven. Haruka would be back at around nine.

Damn.

—-

Luckily Haruka comes back thirty minutes earlier than normal, arms filled with groceries. Yui looks up from the ground, having given up and sat down in front of the door as though a poor beggar — which, in a sense, she was.

"Hi."

Haruka gapes before frowning, or at least trying to because Yui sees the corners of her lips twitch upwards. “You’re a loser.”

—-

Luggage is dropped, groceries are put away, a quick shower is taken, and dinner (omlette, rice, and other convenice store foods) is hastily eaten before Yui abandon everything and kisses Haruka.

Fingers thread through her black hair as Haruka’s tongue spells out a ‘I missed you’ on her own and the two fumble their way into the bedroom as Bis, who had been pet and adored the minute Yui stepped inside the apartment, stalks out and curls on the living room couch.

"Welcome back," Haruka gasps as her back hits the bed and Yui towers over her, swift hands moving to play with the buttons of her shirt already.

Yui grins.

"Good to be back."

An Accidental Memory in the Case of Death
SayaMilky (NMB48/AKB48/SKE48) + others to come (mostly NMB-centric)

A/N: something strange i’m writing, this is the prologue. the title is actually from a piano piece by Matthew Cooper (Eluvium) and the inspiration of this fic came from a Korean musical called Black Mary Poppins also that has nothing to do with it (honestly its a lot like Oyasumi Punpun lmao). anyhow enjoy

An Accidental Memory in the Case of Death (Prologue)

A hand covers her own over her eyes, an arm around her waist, a breath that beats against her neck.

“It wasn’t you, Miyuki. It wasn’t you.”

She’s trembling – she can’t breathe. There’s something warm on her hands, a liquid that sticks her fingers together. It smells like iron. Like blood.

“It was me. It was me.”

The arms tighten around her frame, legs tight around her own as her back presses into something warm – alive. It wasn’t her.

(But she was the one who had grabbed the knife).

It wasn’t her.

(But she was the one who felt the skin rip underneath the blade).

It wasn’t her.

(But she was the one who saw the blood pour).

It wasn’t her.

(But she was the one—

“It wasn’t you, Miyuki. It wasn’t you. I killed them, I killed them. Don’t remember it, don’t remember anything. It wasn’t you.”

Her fingers claw at her eyes, a different hand stops her. She opens her mouth to scream and a different hand places itself over her lips. The ragged breathing worsens; the grip on her body hurts her.

“It wasn’t you. I killed them. I killed them. Don’t remember anything. It wasn’t you.”

—-

The blinds from the open window in front of her are pulled up and the sunlight streams in from outside, bright. The phone next to her lights up two unread messages: one from Fuuko, one from an unknown sender.

She reads Fuuko’s first and ends up deleting without a reply, a question about last night’s coursework, obviously it being too late now. The second message, however, has no title and only a single word written.

Remember.
