Author’s Note
Hello readers, my name is nishimura and this is my first time writing a fanfic. I lurked around the forum for a while before I decided to join the community a little over a month ago. While I have little confidence in my writing abilities, I aspire to improve my storytelling skills. I chose to write a Mayuki fic because they are my favorite paring.
Since it is my first time, constructive criticism is wanted and greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this story.
Chapter One
"I've never felt this tired before."
Sitting in her car, looking at the harsh, red traffic light, Watanabe Mayu impatiently waited for the light to turn green. She had a terrible fifteen hours in the operating room as a cardiologist. On this particular day, she had an intensive operation which unfortunately resulted in the loss of a patient. While this happens to many doctors, it completely crushed her. At this point, she drastically needed to get home and sleep.
Mayu sped home in her tiny white car. The outside of the vehicle looked slightly in need of a wash. The interior was full of trash from quick meals on the go, extra changes of clothes for late night hospital shifts, and abandoned items that she was too lazy to bring into her house. The doctor's busy schedule put car maintenance at the bottom of her priority list.
When she finally arrived home, she walked up the lonely steps to her apartment. Unlike her car, Mayu's apartment was clean. Although it looked well taken care of, there was a lack of life in the space. The apartment looked as if no one lived in it. The place was larger than that of the average dwelling for one person. The front door opened to a modern looking kitchen which was open and connected to a minimalistic living room. The living room had a sleek, grey couch in the center with a nice sized television in front of it. Stairs that lead to the doctor's bedroom and bathroom were positioned several feet behind the couch. Mayu's bedroom matched the modern look of the rest of the apartment with a few girly touches. Her bed was positioned at the left side of the room which was parallel to a large window which revealed a dazzling skyline. The right side of the room had a simple desk with her computer along with a large shelf that housed several hundred anime DVDs. Her extensive collection included the well known shows as well as the lesser known and more obscure.
"Ah, I should really eat dinner, it's already 3:00 AM"
Mayu grabbed some leftover mushroom curry from her fridge and placed it in a bowl. She placed it in the microwave and walked to the livingroom couch to wait for the food to heat up. She plopped her body onto the couch with great force. Even though she's home, she can't stop thinking about what happened in the operating room earlier that day. In order to calm herself down, she powers the TV and begins to watch the news. The images on the screen begin to blur into colorful mosaics as the young doctor's eyes slowly shut. The narration of the news anchors gradually lull her to sleep.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Suddenly the loud beeping of the microwave startles Mayu awake. She grumpily gets up and collects her food from the microwave. Her feelings are conflicted because the microwave annoyingly woke her but she also finally gets a nice hot meal in the comfort of her own home. She returns to the couch and scarfs down the mushroom curry in a hungry frenzy. The warmth in her belly causes her tiredness to appear again. In a matter of minutes, the exhausted doctor drifts into an incredibly deep sleep.
"Good morning! I'm Kashiwagi Yuki with today's weather"
Mayu slowly awakens to the sound of an enthusiastic girl on the television.
"Unfortunately today is going to be mostly cloudy with scattered showers throughout the region, please remember to bring your umbrellas if you plan on running errands"
Mayu, irritated by how overly cheerful the weather girl is, reaches for the remote to shut the television off. As she's holds her finger over the powerbutton, she realizes how beautiful the weather girl is. Kashiwagi's eyes seemed to immediately captivate Mayu. The weather girl's presence caused Mayu to leave her state of exhaustion. Yuki's aura energized Mayu, time seemed to slow down. The sadness about the failed surgery and the emptiness in Mayu's home was washed away with Yuki's beauty.
Mayu realized she had been temporarily lost in the weather girl's beauty and was still pointing her remote at the TV. The doctor glanced at the clock and read 6:00 AM. She had only slept for 3 hours. The doctor continued to allow herself to be hypnotized by the weather girl's beauty. Mayu's eyes gradually began to lose the battle between sleep and looking at the weather girl. Yuki's enthusiastic voice harmoniously comforted to doctor. The doctor wanted to keep her eyes open to see Kashiwagi for as long as possible, but the inevitable exhaustion kicked in. As Mayu lovingly stared at the screen, the young weather girl's beautiful face was shortly engulfed in darkness.

Hello readers, nishimura here. Thank you for reading the first chapter of my first fanfic. I really hope it kept you interested in the future chapters. Once again, criticism is appreciated.
I frantically wrote the second chapter after reading the wonderful comments. I decided to update on the same day I uploaded the first chapter! I hope you enjoy it!
Chapter Two
"Did you find everything okay?"
"Yep"
"Great, your change will be 200¥. Have a wonderful day"
"Thanks you too"
"Attention shoppers, just a reminder, we have an assortment of beverages on sale today, thank you."
"Hey mom can we buy this?"
"Not today sweetheart"
Noises from all directions were heard. The area was very bright and had shelves full of different merchandize. All of the conversations and announcements began to blend together and create white noise. Mayu rubbed her eyes and adjusted her vision. At that instant, the audio became distinguishable again. Mayu suddenly realized she was standing in a convenience store. She had no idea how she got there, however, she surprisingly felt the situation was normal.
She wandered around the aisles for a while, reading magazines and looking at snacks. She had no idea what day it was or what time, however, the doctor was content with roaming around the store. After making several laps around the perimeter of the building, she looked down the aisle to her left and saw someone familiar.
"It's her...Kashiwagi, the weather girl. She's even more beautiful in person"
Yuki was casually looking at the various beverages that were on sale. She looked a little indecisive about what she planned to purchase. The weather girl would put a few drinks in her basket, then exchange them with different drinks several minutes later. This routine continued many times.
Mayu shyly hid around the corner of the aisle. Once again, she found herself mesmerized with Kashiwagi's beauty. The doctor desperately wanted to talk to her but her confidence had disappeared at that moment.
"I should just walk up and talk to her...no I can't. What would I even say?"
Mayu continued to watch Yuki from a comfortable distance. She observed the weather girl's drink switch routine for a while. Mayu finally built up the confidence to walk towards Yuki. In order to make her motions seem normal, Mayu pretended to look at beverages as well. After the two girls stood next to each other for thirty seconds, Mayu attempted to make conversation.
"So, these drinks...are...on sale, it's pretty cool those drinks. Yeah drinks."
Mayu stammered. The doctor's face instantly turned bright pink. She was so embarrassed with herself and her speaking abilities. She wished she never approached the weather girl. She just wanted to leave the store, run home, and never leave her house again. Her thoughts were swirling around in her head as her face grew warmer.
"Hahaha, yeah. I'm having a really tough time deciding what to buy"
The weather girl chuckled. She acted as if the stranger talking to her never said anything unusual. Yuki's effortless social graces made Mayu feel less uncomfortable. The doctor finally snapped out of her embarrassment and tried to continue the conversation.
"I really like this drink, it's good for your health. It's full of antioxidants and other vitamins that are really good for your heart."
"Ahaha, you sound like a doctor." Said Yuki.
"Oh, well I am a doctor. A cardiologist"
"That's awesome! That must be so stressful. I'm a weather girl so I don't get too stressed with my job"
"But you're job's awesome too! I've seen you on the 6:00 AM news." Said Mayu in an overly excited voice.
"Oh, thank you for noticing me. Well I have to go, I'll buy the drinks you recommend Dr."
With a smile, Yuki filled her basket with the drinks Mayu recommended. The girl waved goodbye to the doctor and walked down the aisle. The further Yuki walked, the more Mayu's vision began to blur. The shape of the weather girl grew smaller and less defined.
"Damn it, I didn't even tell her my name" said Mayu in a regret filled voice.
Mayu spun around the aisle in an effort to focus her vision. The brightness of the convenience store grew dimmer. The shapes around the doctor became blurry. Mayu was soon surrounded with a soft darkness.
"THEN KUSUKAMI PASSES THE BALL TO MINAMINO, HE SHOOTS AND GOOOOOOALLLL"
Mayu quickly jerked out of her sleep. She frantically looked around the room and realized she was sitting on her couch. She glanced at the TV and saw there was a lively soccer match on. The enthusiastic announcer had woken her up with his passionate yelling.
The doctor angrily shut her television off. She sat in her living room for a while and looked out the window. It was raining heavily, the noise of the droplets hitting the apartment roof was soothing. Mayu, no longer annoyed about the soccer announcer glanced at the clock and it read 9:00 AM. It had been three hours since she saw Kashiwagi on the news.
"It was all a dream. I never met Kashiwagi"
Mayu felt lonely and disappointed. She looked around her sterile apartment. She laid herself back down on the couch, she was still incredibly tired from her failed operation. The doctor closed her eyes and allowed the sound of the rain drops to fill her thoughts. The tired girl gradually lost her awareness and returned to her comfortable slumber.

Hello readers. This chapter is happier than the second one. I feel this is the first development of Mayuki's relationship. I had fun writing this chapter, I got to do a little research about one of the trains that runs into Saitama Prefecture which was cool.
I hope you enjoy this chapter. Criticism is greatly appreciated. Happy reading.
Chapter Three
"Attention passengers, the doors are now closing. To ensure your safety, please step away from the doors"
The calm yet stern voice of the automated train announcer alerted Mayu to her surroundings. The train's interior was very familiar to Mayu, she had ridden this train hundreds of times. The doors of the train closed and a well known jingle played as the train took off. After hearing the jingle, she knew she was on the Fukutoshin Line.
"Now leaving Akatsuka Station, our next stop is Narimasu Station"
"Oh, my station is in two stops, I'll just ride the rest of the way home" thought Mayu.
The atmosphere of the train was soothing to the doctor. The quickly moving scenery and the occasional bump left the girl content with her thoughts.
"Now arriving at Akatsuka Station, the doors are now opening"
Mayu sat diagonally across from the door. She enjoyed watching the various passengers exit and board the train. The train was relatively empty, it definitely wasn't rush hour. While watching the last of the passengers board the train, the last person to walk though the doors was Kashiwagi Yuki. The weather girl looked as stunning as she normally does, however, she looked more casual than she did on TV. It must have been her day off.
"Ah! it's Kashiwagi! Not this again, I'm totally going to forget how to communicate" thought Mayu.
The weather girl looked at the various empty seats in the train, she eventually locked eyes with Mayu and smiled. Once Mayu met Yuki's eyes from across the train car, her face instantly began to feel warm.
"Hey Doctor......I'm so sorry" said Yuki in an embarrassed voice.
"Hi Kashiwagi-san, why are you sorry?"
"I totally don't know your name, I feel terrible"
"Oh, my name is Watanabe Mayu, it's nice to see you again"
"It's really nice to see you too. If you don't mind, can I sit next to you?"
"Of course" said Mayu in an excited voice.
The weather girl sat next to the doctor and they both exchanged smiles. Mayu tried to observe Yuki's every detail. The doctor loved Yuki's casual, yet cute outfit. The weather girl was sporting an adorable sweater with a collared shirt layered underneath it. She was also wearing a skirt that pulled the entire outfit together. It was a perfect blend of femininity and sophistication. While Mayu loved Yuki's outfit, her favorite part about Yuki's appearance was the fact that she had her bangs pinned back. The weather girl never showed her forehead during her broadcast so Mayu cherished this rare site.
"We are now leaving Narimasu Station, the next stop is Wakoshi Station"
"Wakoshi is the last stop on this line, does that mean we're getting off at the same place?" asked Yuki.
"Yep, I live a few minutes away from that station" explained Mayu.
"If you live close, I'll walk you home"
"Oh, you don't need to do that" said Mayu in a shy voice.
While Mayu was trying to be polite and decline Yuki's offer, the doctor secretly hoped Yuki would walk her home anyway. This was an actual opportunity to get to know the beloved weather girl and she didn't want to lose this chance.
"I insist Dr. Watanabe, besides, you've kept me company this entire train ride"
"Thank you Kashiwagi-san, you've made this train ride enjoyable for me too"
For the remainder of the ride, the two girls talked the entire time. Mayu talked about her work as a cardiologist, telling anecdotes to describe her experiences. Yuki told hilarious stories while using outrageous reactions to describe events. Mayu throughly enjoyed every word the weather girl spoke. The doctor couldn't remember that last time she felt this happy. A warm feeling developed in Mayu's stomach, the heat traveled to her face which caused the girl to blush lightly. While she couldn't describe her feelings as they were happening, she was in love.
"Now arriving at Wakoshi Station, please remember to take all personal belongings with you"
Both girls happily exited the train. They continued to talk while walking to Mayu's apartment. The walk only lasted ten minutes, but, they had already learned much about each other.
"Well this is my place" stated Mayu.
"Wow, you actually live pretty close to me" explained Yuki.
"Really? That's awesome. Hey Kashiwagi-san?"
"Yeah?"
"Since you don't live that far, I'd be happy to quickly drive you home"
"Are you sure? Thanks I really appreciate that"
Mayu grabbed her keys and opened her car. The doctor suddenly remembered that her car is a mess. Yuki looked inside and saw old food wrappers and various changes of clothes in the back seat. Mayu was incredibly irritated with herself. The inside of her car was an embarrassment.
"I'm so sorry, my car's disgusting"
"Oh it's okay, you must work really hard so a little mess is justified" said Yuki with a chuckle.
The two got in the car and drove away. The ride was mostly silent because Mayu was still a little embarrassed. The drive only lasted a few minutes.
"Oh, this is my house" stated Yuki.
Mayu pulled into the driveway and parked the car. Yuki grabbed her things and exited the vehicle.
"Thank you for the ride"
The weather girl smiled. Mayu grinned back and made sure to observe every one of Yuki's details for a second time. Mayu waved goodbye and began pulling out of the driveway while a sudden thought popped into her head"
"Wait! Kashiwagi-san!"
"Yeah? Oh and you can call me Yuki"
"Do you want to get lunch sometime? Yuki.."
"Actually, lunch sounds wonderful."
"Great! Let's exchange numbers and we can work out a date later."
"Sound's awesome. Thanks Dr. Watanabe."
"Call me Mayu"
"Okay, thanks Mayu, see you soon"
The doctor reversed out of the driveway while waving at Yuki. Mayu drove away with a huge grin across her face. While smiling, she looked through the rear view mirror to see Yuki enter her house. The girl continued her short drive home with her heart happily racing with excitement.

Sometimes I even get confused between dreams and reality while writing the chapters hahaha :lol:. Thank you for complimenting my writing skills, I've learned through doing academic writing but I think I’m getting the hang of writing fiction. I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

I often find that the events that are taking place in the story are pretty ordinary but I try to spice them up with some descriptions. kenjoy12: Yay Mayu! We all knew she had it in her! I’m excited to write the lunch date chapter. I’m currently deciding on what type of restaurant they’ll go to lunch at. I might just make up a restaurant or I’ll research and write about an actual restaurant that exists near the actual train stations I named in chapter 3. :cathappy:

Hello readers, nishimura here. I'd first like to apologize for this chapter coming out later than expected. I just started my 3rd trimester of school so there's been a lot of work. This chapter was mostly written at night, right before I went to sleep so I apologize if the plot it a little harder to understand. My grammar and word choice are probably not on par with the other chapters as well. I tried to create a cute lunch scene while also adding other events. Once again, I truly appreciate all of the comments as well as criticism.
Chapter Four
"Hello?"
"Hey Mayu, there's this great yakiniku place I heard about the other day. Do you want to go there for lunch today?"
"That sounds wonderful, what time?"
"I'll pick you up at 2:00 PM"
"Awesome, thanks Yuki"
Mayu set her phone down on her coffee table. Her heart was beating at a quick pace after making plans for her first lunch date with Yuki. While she was ecstatic about the plans, she was also incredibly nervous. The doctor wanted to make sure everything about herself was perfect for her date with Yuki. Contemplating what she would wear to lunch, Mayu glanced at the clock and noted it was 9:00 AM.
"I have five hours to make myself and my apartment look amazing" thought Mayu.
The young girl ran up stairs to her bedroom and scoured through her wardrobe to find an outfit that had a perfect balance between cute and casual. She didn't want to be overdressed to get yakiniku. After trying about fifty different outfits, she finally settled with an adorable, yet simple white dress. The girl then realized she hadn't thought about her hair or makeup yet. She wanted to attempt something different that celebrated the special occasion. Instead of wearing her hair down as she normally does, Mayu decided to style her hair in a loose braid. The doctor then applied her makeup, she chose a natural looking style.
After getting ready, Mayu looked at herself in the mirror. She was happy with her selections and hoped Yuki would like them too. The girl glanced at the clock and noted it was 12:00 PM; she still had two more hours. She decided to spend the rest of the time cleaning her apartment. Mayu thought about cleaning her car too, however, she was too afraid to attempt that today. By the time it was 2:00, the apartment looked clean and tidy. Mayu took a moment to look around and admire her hard work.
Knock Knock!
"Ah, She's here!"
Once she heard the knocking, Mayu was overcome with nervousness. She had suddenly forgotten the confidence her outfit and clean apartment gave her. In order to take maximum time to calm herself down, Mayu approached the door slowly. Despite her intentional delay, the door opened to reveal Yuki was standing right in front of her. The weather girl looked gorgeous. Her outfit consisted of a nice navy blue dress with a white scarf. She wore her hair down in her usual fashion.
"Hey Yuki, come in!" said Mayu in a forcefully happy voice.
"Hi, I really like your apartment. It's so clean and modern."
"Thanks, I try my best to keep it clean."
"Well, are you ready to go?"
"Yep, just let me grab my things."
Both girls exited the apartment. Yuki unlocked her car and opened the door for Mayu. Yuki's car was a shiny black color, the interior was a soft leather. Mayu sat herself in the passenger seat and began to examine the inside of the car. While the interior was spotless, Mayu also enjoyed the smell. The combination of the leather and Yuki's sweet scent made the aroma irresistible. Yuki plopped herself in her seat and began driving to the restaurant.
The journey only took about fifteen minutes. While in the car the girls talked about their mornings. Yuki discussed details about her morning weather report while Mayu pretended she didn't spend hours getting dressed for the date.
The girls entered the yakiniku restaurant. The place had a hip vibe to it. The dining room was mostly open with windows circling the entire perimeter of the room. The natural lighting created a natural feeling.
"Hi do you have a reservation?"
"Yes, table for two under Kashiwagi"
"Right this way miss"
The hostess led the girls to a comfortable booth positioned next to a window. The girls were handed menus and left to decide what to order. Mayu and Yuki looked at the various choices of dishes they could order. In the end, they decided to share a large variety of different meats and vegetables.
"I have the beef, pork, chicken, eggplant, zucchini, asparagus and mushrooms" The waitress set down numerous plates with the raw ingredients. She then took the time to fire up the grill in the center of the table.
"Thank you, enjoy your meal"
"Thank you" said both girls simultaneously.
Mayu, hungry and excited to eat, began placing various things on the grill to cook. The ingredients making contact with the hot surface created a lovely sizzling sound and a wonderful aroma. Yuki tried to follow Mayu but struggled to place the ingrediants on the grill.
"Are you okay? It looks like you're having a little trouble there" chuckled Mayu.
"I'm fine, I'm just not the best at cooking"
"It's not really cooking, we're just placing things on a grill"
"Stop it, you're teasing me" said Yuki in a playfully whiny voice.
In order to prove Mayu wrong, Yuki swiftly grabbed a piece of beef cooking on the grill and placed it in her mouth. Yuki's mouth immediately shot open, she realized that the meat had not nearly cooked enough.
"You're really bad at this. Maybe I should just do all the grilling" teased Mayu.
Mayu placed the remaining ingredients on the grill in an orderly fashion. While the doctor was diligently watching each piece, Yuki was jokingly pouting. While the weather girl's face looked displeased, she was secretly enjoying watching the doctor put so much care into each piece of food.
"Well, it looks about done now" stated Mayu.
Mayu picked up a steaming piece of chicken, she examined it carefully to ensure it was cooked to perfection.
"Here Yuki, you can have the first bite"
While still holding the hot chicken between her chopsticks, Mayu brought the piece close to her lips and gently blew on it to cool it down. Extending her arm, Mayu fed Yuki the first bite.
"Ah, this is really good. Good job Mayu!"
Mayu began to feed herself. Her attention to the food had certainly paid off, everything was delicious.
"Hey Mayu, feed me more" teased Yuki
Mayu blushed slightly. Just the thought of feeding Yuki more than once made her excited. Repeating her earlier steps, Mayu fed Yuki a variety of ingredients. Yuki loved how the doctor was spoiling her. She loved being taken care of and enjoyed every bite of food Mayu fed her.
After enjoying a wonderfully cooked lunch, the girls were back in the car heading to Mayu's house.
"Today was really fun, thanks for coming to lunch" said Yuki in a happy voice.
"Thank you for inviting me. Oh Yuki, do you want to come to my place for tea when we get there?"
"That sounds wonderful"
They shortly arrived at Mayu's Apartment. Mayu quickly unlocked the door and led Yuki inside.
"You can relax while I make the tea" stated Mayu.
Yuki walked around Mayu's modern living room for a few minutes. She carefully examined the geometric furniture. The weather girl enjoyed the minimalistic interior design and she loved the large windows that overlooked the city. The extravagant view contrasted well with the simple interior of the apartment.
"Tea's done" stated Mayu excitedly.
"Great."
Mayu set a tray with two cups, creme and sugar on the coffee table. Both girls sat comfortably on the couch. While sipping tea, they both joked around and told stories. Every minute they spent talking taught them more about each other. Time passed rapidly, they had been talking for so long the sun had began to set.
"I love enjoying the sunset with a nice cup of tea" stated Yuki in a relaxed voice.
"Me too. I can't believe I have to work tomorrow. I have a bunch of consultations and patients to attend to. I wish I could stay here, drink tea and watch the sunset with you forever" complained Mayu.
"That sounds amazing"
Suddenly, Mayu had an idea.
"Hey Yuki, let's get some fresh air."
After enjoying tea, the girls decided to take a walk around the neighborhood to enjoy the sunset. They walked to a nearby park which had a wonderful view of the city below.
"I love this park" stated Yuki.
"Me too, I used to come here all the time as a child"
"Aww, little Mayu must have been so cute" said Yuki with a smile.
After hearing Yuki's comment, a soft blush grew on Mayu's cheeks.
"Here, I'll take you to my favorite spot in the park" giggled Mayu.
Mayu quickly grabbed Yuki's hand, the pair ran through various grassy fields. After running for several minutes, the girls approached a hill with a large tree at the top of it. Although they were tired from the running, Mayu dashed to the top while encouraging Yuki to follow her.
"Come on we're almost there"
"I'm coming, I'm coming. This hill is so tall, I can't believe I let you drag me he....."
Yuki's voice cut off. It seemed as if all of her thoughts were suddenly cleared from her brain. All of the words she was saying seconds earlier vanished. Her actions were immediately eclipsed by an overwhelming sensation of love.
"Yuki, is there something wrong?" said Mayu in a concerned voice.
Mayu looked at the weather girl who was standing a few feet away. Yuki was staring directly at Mayu. The older girl had her mouth slightly open while the rest of her body looked frozen in time. She couldn't take her eyes off of the young doctor. Mayu was perfectly positioned at the peak of the hill in front of the gorgeous sunset. The sun created a golden outline around Mayu which produced the perfect shadows and accentuated various parts of her face with wonderful lighting.
"Are you okay?"
"You're beautiful." whispered Yuki
"What did you say?" stated Mayu in a confused voice.
Yuki began to step towards Mayu. Her walking stopped when the girls were less than a few centimeters apart. With their foreheads practically touching, Yuki looked Mayu directly in the eyes and said
"I said you're beautiful"
Mayu's face suddenly felt like it was on fire. Hearing Yuki say that made the heat extend throughout her body. Out of nervousness, Mayu averted her eyes and tried to regain her thoughts. While the younger girl was internally freaking out, Yuki swiftly leaned in and kissed her on the lips.
The kiss didn't last very long. Mayu's eyes bugged as she was completely shocked with Yuki's actions. The moment she desperately waited for had come unexpectedly.
"I'm so sorry...I shouldn't have done that to you" said Yuki with a quiver in her voice. The weather girl had started to cry slightly because she didn't want to hurt Mayu.
"Don't be sorry, that's exactly what I wanted."
At that moment, Mayu quickly approached Yuki and initiated a second kiss. This kiss lasted longer and was full of passion. The girls embraced and enjoyed the softness of each others lips. The sun surrounded the pair with a warmth that solidified their mutual feelings. After exchanging soft kisses for several minutes, both Mayu and Yuki sat in the grass and enjoyed watching the sun conclude a perfect day.

Hello readers, nishimura here. I'd first like to apologize for the lateness of this chapter. I said I would post it on Friday night but that unfortunately didn't happen. I was just too tired when I got home on Friday and I had a tennis match on Saturday. I've also been struggling to make a decision about which university I should attend this year. Well, enough about my personal life, back to the author's note.
I hope this chapter is cute. I tried my best to make is light-hearted. I've been struggling with how long I should make this story. I know exactly how it's going to end. I've actually already written the ending. I just need to connect the dots and fill in the gaps to make it a good story. DC2805 suggested in the comments that Mayuki should get married. While I never planned for the relationship to progress to that length, I'm playing with the idea. I want to ask the readers if they would also want that to happen. Adding the marriage would basically add an extra 1-2 chapters to fill in the gap between now and the ending. If the marriage interests you, please comment below.
I should wrap this up, this is a long note and you guys probably want to just get to the story. Lastly, I'd like to thank everyone for the wonderful comments, they really motivate me to keep writing. I went into this process thinking there wouldn't be many people reading it, but, the community has accepted me and acknowledged my work. Thank you for reading, and enjoy the story.
Chapter Five
"Dr. you're needed in room four, it's an emergency"
"Okay"
Mayu rushed out of her office with a nurse following close behind her with a clipboard. They both walked down the hospital hallway at a brisk pace.
"Tell me about this patient" said Mayu in an assertive voice.
"Mr. Shigeru, 57 years old. He was on a far away hiking trip where he had a sudden heart attack and collapsed on the trail. It took hours for the rescue team to locate him. We ran some tests and he's going to need a triple angioplasty immediately."
Mayu quickly ran into the prep room to change into her scrubs and disinfect her hands. She joined her fellow cardiologists in the operating room. Mayu looked at the monitor displaying Mr. Shigeru's arteries and began the operation.
After a few hours of operating, Mr. Shigeru's arteries were cleared. He was sent to recover from a successful operation. Mayu tiredly walked her her office and sat in her chair. Wile enjoying her moment of relaxation, the doctor got the sudden urge to call Yuki. She quickly reached for her phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey Yuki!...it's Mayu"
"Oh, hey what's up?"
Mayu's eyes drastically widened. She couldn't believe she just spontaneously called Yuki without having any sort of plan. She had no idea what she was going to say to her. She hadn't even spoken to her since the day they kissed.
"Are you busy tonight?" asked Mayu. She still didn't know where the conversation was headed.
"I don't have anything planned, did you want to get together and do something?"
"Yeah, I was wondering if you wanted to... get coffee"
"That sounds fun, but wait."
"Yeah?"
"I took the train to work today, can you pick me up at the news station?"
"Oh of course, I'll pick you up at 5:30 after I finish my shift"
"Sounds good, bye"
"Bye Yuki"
Mayu hung up the phone with a smile on her face. She was surprised in her ability to spontaneously plan a date. The doctor began to playfully pack her things in preparation for leaving to pick Yuki up. Suddenly, Mayu remembered that her car was still a mess. She couldn't have Yuki seeing the horrifying clutter again.
Mayu dashed to the hospital parking lot and unlocked her car. The pile of garbage had grown since Yuki rode in Mayu's car. The doctor began to rapidly grab pieces of trash from the vehicle. She made multiple trips to the nearest trashcan, but, her work payed off. While the final product wasn't spotless, it was considerably cleaner than it was minutes ago. Mayu glanced at her watch and noticed it was almost 5:30 already. Quickly jumping in her newly clean car, Mayu sped out of the parking lot and headed to the news station Yuki worked at.
The news station wasn't too far from the hospital. Mayu parked near the building and walked toward the front where she could meet Yuki. Mayu stood near the entrance for a few minutes, she became distracted by her phone as she waited outside.
"BOO!"
"AHH!"
Mayu suddenly jumped. Yuki had snuck around the doctor and scared her from behind.
"Aww Mayu, you're so cute when you're scared" teased Yuki.
"It's not fair, you snuck up behind me...anyway, let's just get in the car"
Mayu walked several feet ahead of Yuki with a blush and a slight pout on her face. Yuki trailed behind while giggling at the doctor's expression.
"Wow Mayu, your car is actually clean. Did you clean it because you were picking me up?"
"No!...I cleaned it a few days ago...Okay yeah I cleaned it for you"
"That's so nice of you, you're so cute Mayu."
The pair got in the car. Mayu began driving to their destination with a red face. She found the nearest cafe and parked there.
"I'll have a table for two."
"Right this way m'am."
The girls were placed in a table outside. The weather was pleasant. Some would call it the golden hour, the perfect moment before the sun starts to set where everything is surrounded in a golden hue. Mayu was still wearing her white doctor coat while Yuki was wearing her professional looking weather girl outfit. The pair looked tired after working all day, but they both looked happy to be with each other. They enjoyed just staring at each other without saying a word. The silence was broken when the waitress delivered their orders.
"I have two lattes"
"Thank you"
Both girls picked their cups up and began to sip the much needed coffee. While they both previously enjoyed the silence, they knew something important needed to be talked about. Each girl continually drank their coffee while waiting for the other to initiate a conversation. After an awkward five minutes of silent staring, Mayu broke the ice.
"So...the other day at the park"
"Yeah about that"
Both girls were looking down while talking to each other. They couldn't bare to look each other in the eyes while thinking about that day. They simultaneously decided to look at the other after staring at the ground. The girls locked eyes for less than half and second and immediately looked away once again. Awkwardly laughing, they looked at everything around them but each other. Yuki knew something had to be said.
"Did you enjoy that time at the park?" said Yuki nervously.
"YEAH!..yeah I really liked it. Did you like it?"
"Yeah, I really liked it too."
Both girls locked eyes again. At this point they had drank their coffee, there was no excuse to not talk anymore. The pair had matching flushed faces.
"What are we?" asked Mayu with a stern voice.
"What do you mean?"
"Are we friends...or more like.." Mayu's voice was scattered and cut off by Yuki.
"More like girlfriends?" Stated Yuki in an embarrassingly loud voice.
The weather girl's face grew hot. She couldn't believe she cut Mayu off with a statement like that. It naturally came out, she didn't have self control at the time. Once Yuki said that, Mayu's face grew redder than it already was. She was also secretly glad that Yuki completed the statement for her. The doctor grew devious and decided to tease Yuki while she was still in an embarrassed state.
"Is that what you want? You sounded really excited when you said it" teased Mayu.
"I'd only want that if you do too" explained Yuki in a slightly defensive voice.
At that moment Mayu lost her devious attitude. She didn't want to play around anymore. The doctor surrendered her power and stated
"Yeah...I do want that" stated Mayu with little confidence.
The tables had turned. Yuki was now the more aggressive one in the conversation.
"So it's settled then?" asked Yuki in an aggressive voice.
"Yep, girlfriends."
Mayu was filled with a mixture of emotions. She was ecstatic, jittery and confused at the same time. She was happy that she and Yuki were now officially dating. However, the way it happened was unexpected and awkward. Nevertheless Mayu was overjoyed about their relationship.
"Hey Mayu, wanna come over tonight? We can eat dinner at my house." asked Yuki.
"Yeah that sounds fun."
The girls quickly got out of their chairs, payed the bill and walked to the car. The ride was relatively silent, both girls were coming to terms with their relationship status and were lost for words. Mayu pulled into Yuki's driveway. Yuki unlocked her door and held it open for Mayu.
The inside of Yuki's house was spacious and cutely decorated. It's interior was slightly more traditional than Mayu's with less minimalistic looking furniture. The front door opened to a warm looking living room with a couch and two comfortable chairs positioned in front of a fireplace. The living room was connected to a kitchen with modern appliances, however, the kitchen looked unused. The house was two stories; the second story had Yuki's bedroom and bathroom as well as a guest room. Yuki's room had a princess like style with mostly white colored furniture. She had a large bed with a nice television positioned on the wall. While the bedroom didn't have as great a view as Mayu's it still had a view of the surrounding neighborhood.
"Make yourself comfortable, I'm going to order dinner"
"Oh, we're not cooking?"
Yuki laughed at Mayu's question.
"You and I both know I can't cook"
"True" chuckled Mayu.
While waiting for food to be delivered to the house, the girls sat together in front of the fire. Both looked slightly uncomfortable, they didn't know if their behavior should change because of their newly named relationship. Eventually they broke out of discomfort and began to act normally. They told each other about their day at work.
"Delivery"
"Coming!" Yuki briskly walked to the door and grabbed their food.
Yuki returned to the couch and handed Mayu a box. The weather girl had ordered Chinese. Both girls started vigorously eating, the emotional whirlwind at the cafe sparked their appetites. Dinner ended quickly because they basically inhaled their food. After cleaning up, the girls talked for several hours by the fire. They told stories, teased each other, talked about their families. There was never a dull moment when they were talking. Mayu glanced at the clock and noticed it was late.
"I'm so sorry, I completely overstayed my welcome. It's already 11:00 PM"
Mayu started grabbing her things in a rush when she felt a hand grab her wrist.
"Mayu, if it's that late you can just stay here tonight."
Mayu's face instantly turned pink. Her heart beat intensified while her stomach whirled. She wanted to stay the night, but she didn't know if it was appropriate because they just started dating. However, it felt like they had known each other for a long time.
"I'll stay over, only if you think it's okay" stated Mayu.
"Of corse it's okay! We're dating now. It's impossible for you to overstay your welcome."
"Thanks Yuki" said Mayu with a smile.
"We should bathe, it's getting late. We can watch a movie in my room later" stated Yuki.
Yuki walked upstairs to her room. She grabbed a towel, washcloth and a set of pajamas from her room. She returned to the living room and handed them to Mayu.
"Here, I know you don't have extra clothes. You can borrow some of mine. The bathroom is upstairs."
"Thank you"
Mayu walked upstairs to Yuki's bathroom. She was happy she was able to shower after a long day. Mayu throughly enjoyed her shower, it was nice using different products from her own. She loved how her hair now smelled like Yuki. After a hot shower, Mayu slipped the borrowed pajamas on, these also smelled like Yuki. The doctor loved how the scent enveloped her body. She exited the bathroom and found Yuki in her bedroom.
"Thanks for letting me borrow"
"It's my pleasure. I'm going to shower now, you can dry your hair in here"
Yuki exited while smiling at Mayu. The doctor walked up to a vanity positioned next to Yuki's bed. She sat in front of it and grabbed the hairdryer. She carefully dried her hair, she wanted it to be completely dry so she didn't get Yuki's furniture wet.
Yuki had finished showering and had returned to her room. She observed Mayu drying her hair with admiration.
"Oh hey Yuki, how was your shower?"
"Good"
"Here, you can use the hairdryer now."
Mayu got up and allowed Yuki to sit in front of the vanity. The doctor sat herself on Yuki's large bed. The weather girl began to dry her long black hair. Mayu felt unproductive just sitting there watching her girlfriend dry her hair. Mayu got an idea, stood up and walked behind Yuki.
"Here, I'll dry it for you"
"Are you sure? Okay!" stated Yuki in an excited voice.
Mayu stood behind Yuki with the hairdryer in her hand. She delicately dried each section of hair with care. She payed attention to Yuki's scalp by gently pressing it each time she touched it, the doctor was giving Yuki a light massage. Yuki closed her eyes and enjoyed the massage. She loved how Mayu treated her like a princess. The weather girl began day dreaming of when Mayu fed her at the yakiniku place.
"All done!"
"Thanks, that felt really nice" stated Yuki.
Yuki got up quickly and body slammed her bed. The wether girl was tired from her day at work. After groaning into her comforter for a few seconds, she lightly tapped her bed with her hand, signaling Mayu to join her. The doctor placed the hairdryer down and sat down on the mattress. Mayu looked at her new girlfriend sprawled out on the bed, she smiled while examining her get comfortable.
Yuki grabbed Mayu's shoulder and pulled her down next to her. The weather girl wrapped her arms around Mayu's torso and nuzzled her face into Mayu's hair. The doctor blushed at this action and enjoyed the newly found warmth next to her. While laying there for several minutes, Mayu took the time to throughly appreciate Yuki and their relationship. Soon, Mayu felt steady breaths on her neck, Yuki had fallen asleep. Mayu nudged her girlfriend.
"Hey Yuki, if you want to go to bed, we should get under the covers"
"Mmmmphnnn...I'm so lazy though"
"Come on"
Mayu got up and pulled the covers down as Yuki crawled underneath using the least amount of movement as possible.
"Wait, Mayu. We forgot about the movie!" Yuki got up and started searching for the television remote. She felt bad because she had told Mayu they would watch a movie.
"Yuki, it's okay. You're tired, I'm tired. Let's just go to sleep."
"Okay, I'm sorry about the movie, we can watch one next time"
Both girls returned under the covers of Yuki's large bed. The weather girl wiggled her way closer to Mayu and wrapped her arms around the doctor's torso again. Mayu placed her free arm around Yuki's body and began gently rubbing her back with her hand. Mayu's gentle massage soothed Yuki, she was about to fall asleep again. With her last bit of energy, Yuki inched her face next to Mayu's and kissed her on the cheek.
"Goodnight Mayu"
"Goodnight"

I don't know if what's hapening is the dream, this could mean Mayu is sleeping alot or...hmmm now that i think of it,i'll have to go through the first two chapters of the story
to get things clear.

The original plan was to make the dream sound so pleasant, that readers forgot it was a dream in the first place. However, that isn't what happened. Hello readers, nishimura here. I wrote this chapter the same day I wrote chapter five. I've started to notice that you all know that Mayu is dreaming this entire time. I as the author will acknowledge that this is true. This entire story takes place during one dream that last's around 20 hours. I understand that 20 hours is a considerably long time, Mayu's just a tired person hahaha.
I would call this chapter half important. I feel the beginning is filler that isn't particularly fluffy and the other half is a very important event.

Chapter Six
Bibibi bibibi bibibi
"Mayu! Mayu! This thing is beeping!"
Mayu was sound asleep in Yuki's bed. She was so comfortable and warm. Yuki had woken up early hoping to treat Mayu to breakfast in bed, however, a mysterious gadget in Mayu's purse started making noise.
"Wake up! How do you turn this thing off!"
Yuki shook Mayu awake. The doctor covered her eyes with her hands and groaned.
Bibibi bibibi bibibi
The beeping made Mayu spring to her feat.
"Yuki, how long has that been beeping?!?"
"A few minutes, what is it?"
"Ah, it's my pager. They need me for a surgery right now!"
Mayu dashed out of Yuki's room, grabbed her keys and started heading out the door.
"Wait, Mayu! What about breakfast? You're not even dressed."
"I'm sorry Yuki, I have to leave now, someone needs me. I'll stop buy later today okay."
Mayu raced in her car to the hospital. She was still pretty groggy but she needed to get there fast. Mayu parked and ran to change into her scrubs. She went in the operating room and began surgery.
Yuki sat in her house alone. She decided to not try to make breakfast and just go out somewhere. It was her day off, she chose to just eat by herself.
She walked upstairs, washed her face, brushed her teeth and got dressed. Shortly, she pulled out of her driveway and drove to one of her favorite cafés.
While eating, Yuki got the idea to pick up some breakfast and coffee for Mayu. A waitress walked to Yuki's table and handed her the bill.
"Thank you, I hope you enjoyed your breakfast"
"Oh, can I order something else"
"Of course"
"Can I get a breakfast sandwich with a medium coffee"
"Certainly, I'll bring it over in a bit"
Yuki sat at the table and started thinking about the previous night. She worried that she over did it with cuddling up to Mayu because they just started dating. Even with her worrisome feelings, she couldn't deny that she slept considerably better while next to Mayu. The weather girl began to blush while thinking about Mayu's sleeping face.
"Here's the sandwich and coffee miss, thank you"
"Thank you"
Yuki grabbed the food and drove back home. Once she arrived home, she placed the breakfast on the counter and looked around the living room and noticed that Mayu forgot her purse. She also saw that she left her work clothes after showering. Thinking about how she could help her girlfriend, Yuki grabbed the clothes and washed them.
After washing and drying the clothes, Yuki grabbed the garments along with the breakfast and headed to the hospital. She purposefully left Mayu's purse in the living room so the doctor would have an excuse to come over after work.
Yuki parked at the hospital and approached the front desk.
"Hi, is Dr. Watanabe out of surgery? I have breakfast for her"
"I think she's still in the operating room, I can take you to her office to wait if you like"
"Thanks"
The receptionist led Yuki down a hallway.
"So how do you know Dr. Watanabe? She never really has people visit her during work"
"Oh, umm"
Yuki wondered if Mayu would be okay if she told the receptionist about their relationship. She decided to take a chance and tell the truth.
"Umm, we're dating" stated Yuki with a hesitant voice.
"Oh, that's nice. I never knew Dr. Watanabe was into girls. Well she certainly found a pretty one"
Yuki was flattered by the receptionist's comment.
"Here's the office, you can wait inside"
"Thank you"
Yuki stepped into the office and examined where Mayu spent time working. The office was relatively plain and cluttered with different papers and medical reports. Yuki sat in Mayu's chair and placed the breakfast and clothes on the desk. She tried to imagine the doctor being studious in the office but she could only imagine her joking around at home.
After about a half an hour, the office door opened and a scrub wearing Mayu walked in.
"Oh hey what are you doing here?"
"You left my house in such a rush, I figured you were hungry and needed some clothes"
"That's so sweet, thank you so much"
Mayu grabbed her breakfast and ate it quickly, both the coffee and sandwich were cold but the doctor still enjoyed it.
"Thanks for the breakfast, I have to get back to work, I'll see you sometime after 5:30"
"Okay sounds good"
Yuki walked up to the doctor and pecked her on the lips. It was the first time they had ever casually kissed so it was sort of strange. However, it felt completely natural like that had been a normal occurrence for years. The weather girl quietly stepped out of the office and waved goodbye. While exiting the hospital, Yuki waved to the receptionist. The girl then drove home and relaxed at her house.

"Oh hey you're back" stated Mayu.
Yuki walked into her living room and saw her girlfriend sitting by the fire. They both greeted each other with a kiss. Yuki had just returned from last minute Christmas shopping.
At this point, the couple had been dating for nine months. Their relationship had greatly progressed to the point where they were living together. While both Yuki and Mayu still owned their separate places, they alternated houses together on a regular basis. On this particular night they were spending Christmas Eve at Yuki's place.
Yuki joined Mayu on the couch, they sat there and enjoyed the fire for a while. Both looked like they needed to say something important but were too afraid to say it.
"I can't believe we've been dating for nine months" stated Mayu.
"I know, so much has happened with our relationship and our careers. I'm at a bigger news station now, you're on the path to becoming one of Japan's best cardiologists, this entire year has just whizzed by" explained Yuki.
"The year has gone by so quickly, I can't even remember my life before I met you" said Mayu.
That statement made Yuki blush a little. Even though they had been dating for a while, the couple still made each other embarrassed from time to time. At that moment, Yuki stood up and faced Mayu who was still seated.
"Mayu, these past nine months have been the best in my life. I know this would be generally fast for most relationships but, it feels as if we've been dating for years."
The doctor's suddenly felt a lump in her throat. Her eyes started to feel puffy as tears started to form in the corners of her eyes. She knew what Yuki was about to say and she couldn't wait.
"Mayu, you're perfect for me and I want to stay with you forever. Will you marry me?"
Yuki pulled a small box from her coat pocket while blushing. The weather girl was certain Mayu would say yes, however, there was still a small percentage of doubt that made this moment nerve wracking.
"Damn it!" yelled Mayu.
"What!?"
"You beat me to it." stated Mayu in a sarcastic voice.
At that moment Mayu pulled a similar looking box from her pocket. Yuki immediately started crying once she saw the box.
"I was going to ask you the very same question, but you just had to ask first" teased Mayu.
"So I'm guessing your answer is yes" laughed Yuki.
"Yes!"
Both girls embraced in front of the fire. They also giggled at the fact that they both had the same plan for that night. After hugging, kissing and crying by the fire, the girls decided to open the small boxes and see the rings they picked out for each other.
Mayu opened her box and slid the ring on Yuki's finger. Yuki's ring was feminine and elegant. The band was a beautiful champagne color that was lined with smaller diamonds. The gemstone was an oval shaped diamond that was a nice size. Yuki then slid the ring she picked on Mayu's finger. Mayu's ring was classically beautiful. The band was platinum with a round diamond as the gemstone. Both rings fit perfectly.
"I love my ring" stated Yuki.
"I love mine too!"
Both girls sat on the couch cuddling while looking at their transformed fingers.
"So Yuki, any idea for where we should get married?"
"I'd like to go someplace warm and exotic...what do you think about Hawaii?"
"Are you serious?" said Mayu in a surprised voice.
"I'm serious."
"Okay then, Hawaii, here we come!" shouted Mayu.
The couple enjoyed the remaining hours of their Christmas Eve by drinking champagne to celebrate their new engagement. The room was filled with warmth from the fire as sell as warmth from their shared memories. 2014 was a great year and the couple couldn't wait to join together in the new year.

I wish I can dream like Mayu XD I hope to see some plot-twist or something, since you already revealed that Mayu's just dreaming. It kind of lessen the thrill for me( I felt that I shouldn't be glad about their lovey dovey cuz it's only just a dream XD), though I'm still anticipating what will happen once she wakes up from her dream. :panic: I prefer Mayu to wake up first before marrying Yuki. :P

Hello readers, nishimura here. I'm sososososososo sorry this is late. Compared to the other chapters, this one arrived so much slower. This was actually supposed to be half of the wedding chapter but it didn't really fit well with the wedding. I want the wedding to be it's own chapter. I keep struggling, I want the wedding to be perfect. I constantly try to write the wedding chapter but my ideas have been a little stale lately (my brain must be on spring break mode).
I will say that the wedding chapter will be completed before Monday. In the mean time, I hope you all enjoy this chapter. It's not particularly fluffy, it's actually slightly serious. I kind of think it's boring but the events that happen are very important for the future chapters.
Chapter Seven
May 18th, 2015
It had been almost five months since Mayu and Yuki had become engaged. The couple had spent this time advancing their relationship while diligently planning their wedding to every last detail. While wedding planning, Mayu had also focused the past five months on her career. The doctor had a magnificent streak of successful surgeries. Despite her young age, she was considered one of the most elite cardiologists in Japan.
With the amount of surgeries increasing, Mayu often grew tired. Luckily, she still had most Sundays off and she enjoyed spending every minute of these days with Yuki. On this particular Sunday, the couple was comfortably sleeping in at Mayu's house.
While Mayu had a large bed, the couple took up less than half of it because they slept so close to each other. With her legs intertwined with Yuki's, the doctor's arms were comfortably wrapped around the weather girl's torso. Mayu's face was nuzzled closely to Yuki's chest while Yuki's fingers were loosely tangled in Mayu's hair. The weather girl must have been playing with her fiancé's hair before she fell asleep. Both girls were sound asleep in their comfortable state. They could probably lay in that position for hours.
"Ring Ring! Ring Ring!"
Mayu's phone suddenly rang loudly. At that moment the doctor detached herself from Yuki and quickly answered her phone.
"He-hello?"
"Good morning Dr. Watanabe. I'm sorry to bother you on your day off, but I have important news. The board of directors for the hospital is requesting your presence for a meeting. They want you in the conference room as soon as possible."
Mayu rolled her eyes. She really didn't want to head to work on her only day off. She looked down at the bed to observe her fiancé. After feeling Mayu get out of bed, Yuki had rolled the other way and fallen asleep again.
"What's this about?"
"I believe the information is classified, you'll have to attend the meeting."
"Okay. I'm on my way"
Mayu walked to the bathroom and freshened up. She returned to the bedroom and began changing into her work clothes. Yuki woke up and saw her fiancé buttoning up her work shirt.
"Mayu, where are you going? It's Sunday."
"I know babe, I'm sorry. They need me to come in for a meeting today"
The doctor walked up to the bed and gave Yuki a peck on the lips before leaving.
Mayu arrived at the hospital and immediately walked to the conference room. The room had a large rectangular table positioned at the center. Several serious looking middle-aged men and women sat around the table. The only open chair was at the head of the table.
"Good morning Dr. Watanabe, please have a seat" said an older man at the other head of the table.
Mayu seated herself and acknowledged the board of directors.
"You're probably wondering why we called you to this meeting."
"I am slightly curious."
The man handed Mayu a medical file. The girl opened it and began to examine the information.
The old man began listing general information about the patient in the file.
"Oshita Mieko, 6 months old. Born with an extreme case of an atrial septal defect. Her opening near the upper chambers of her heart didn't close like they were supposed to and now blood is continually flowing around her lungs. In order to continue living, she needs an operation in the next month."
"Why are you showing me this in a meeting?" asked Mayu.
"This condition is extremely rare. The surgery will be one of the only cases in the country. The media is beginning to pick up the story and I wouldn't be surprised if the surgery becomes nationally covered. Based on your recent success, the baby's parents have selected you as the cardiologist to operate on their daughter. With your agreement to do the surgery of course."
"It sounds interesting, what are the risks?"
"The surgery will be extremely risky. There's less than a 50% survival rate. Also, the hospital board predicts that news of an unsuccessful surgery would be reported everywhere. If you fail, your reputation as a surgeon will be tarnished. However, if you succeed, you will be considered a national hero with an excellent reputation forever intact. Simply speaking, you are putting your career on the line to preform this surgery."
"I'll do it." Mayu stared across the table with strong affirmation.
"Are you sure, it's risky."
"If no one operates, the child will die. I will gladly risk my career to save a life."
"Very well. The operation is scheduled for June 6th. I suggest you research and prepare in the meantime"
"Wait! My wedding and honeymoon are scheduled from June 1st-7th. We have to reschedule!"
"We can push the operation back to June 9th at the latest. You'll have only have one rest day. I'm only making this exception because you're willingly taking such a huge risk."
"That's fine. Thank you."
The old man stood up and addressed every person at the table.
"This concludes the board meeting, you're free to go Dr. Watanabe."
Mayu quickly stood up and grabbed the file from the table. She left the room with mixed emotions, contemplating whether the decision she made was the right one. It was morally correct but logically too risky.
Mayu returned to her apartment to see that Yuki ordered lunch. The couple sat at the couch and began eating. The doctor was really hungry because she had skipped breakfast. After eating at a fast pace, Mayu started explaining to her fiancé about the decision she made at the board meeting.
"I think you made the right decision Mayu. It's very honorable of you" stated Yuki.
Yuki inched closer to Mayu. She wrapped her arm around the doctor's shoulder and began lightly rubbing her arm. Mayu leaned her head on Yuki's shoulder and closed her eyes. She fell asleep in no time. Feeling her fiancé's steady breaths, Yuki shook Mayu's shoulder.
"You're tired, go take a nap."
"Okay"
Yuki helped Mayu stand up and walked her up the stairs to their bedroom. The weather girl tucked Mayu into bed and lightly kissed her forehead.
Mayu woke from her nap several hours later. She walked down the stairs and found Yuki relaxing in the living room.
"Oh hey you're awake."
"Hey Yuki. Are you hungry? I can start making dinner."
"Yeah that sounds great!"
Mayu walked to the kitchen and started cleaning vegetables to make a simple salad. Both girls had been trying to eat healthy dinners to enhance their bodies before the wedding. Mayu carried two bowls of the salad to the living room where Yuki was sitting in front of the T.V. The pair began eating while watching the evening news.
"I can't believe the wedding's in two weeks" stated Mayu.
"I know! We'll be on a plane to Hawaii in no time!" Yuki had an excited reaction.
"Do we have any last minute planning that needs to be done?"
"Nope. Everything's been taken care of. The resort even notified that our dresses were carefully delivered and are waiting on the island."
"Perfect! I'm so excited!" yelled Mayu.
"And now it's time for our special program this evening."
Both girls looked away from each other and stared at the T.V. The image of the news anchor switched to a scene at a children's hospital. An indifferent narrator voice was played over the scene.
"Oshita Mieko is only 6 month old, yet she struggles with a rare heart condition"
"Wow, the board of directors was right, the local media is already covering the girl's condition" Stated Mayu.
"Shh! I want to hear this!" whispered Yuki.
The program had gone on for several minutes, highlighting the daily hardships the family goes through. The story also explained the necessary surgery and the risks involved. As the program listed the medical problems and risks, Mayu grew more and more anxious. She didn't need the news discouraging her.
"I can't watch this."
Mayu briskly walked up the stairs to the bedroom and crashed her body on the bed. The girl curled up into a ball. Yuki continued to watch the rest of the program alone.
"Despite Oshita's rare condition, a young cardiologist, Dr. Watanabe Mayu, offers hope for the family. We will continue providing updates of the family's journey, please stay tuned. Goodnight!"
Yuki shut the television off and headed towards the bedroom. She found her fiancé in a fetal position in the middle of their large bed. Gently seating herself next to the anxious girl, Yuki rubbed the doctor's back in an attempt to offer comfort.
"I still think you made the right decision. You're going to save that baby's life"
"You don't know that. What if I screw the whole thing up." Mayu's voice was a weak whisper.
"You won't. I have confidence in you. You just need to have confidence in yourself. Just relax, stop worrying about the worst case scenario."
Yuki laid down next to Mayu and began tickling her.
"Hahahaha! Stop hahaha! You're making me laugh!" screamed Mayu.
"You need to laugh, stop being so serious"
After several minutes of tickling from both parties, both girls laid in bed out of breath from excessive laughter. The sudden quietness caused them to think about their relationship. They had been through so much together. Their past was full of happy memories while their future seemed bright with a hint of uncertainty. The moment of silence compiled all of the memories, feelings, and emotions. The moment was exhausting, yet incredibly profound.
Mayu inched her face towards Yuki's. Their eyes were locked. The intensity of the previous moment had drained the energy from the girls. Mayu parted her lips and let out a faint whisper.
"Yuki...I still can't believe we're getting married."
"Only two more weeks" whispered Yuki with a light smile.

Hello readers!
This is just a quick update on my life (and also apologies and excuses as to why I haven't updated in forever)
I really wanted to develop a reputation for being really quick and speedy as a fanfic writer. I was doing so well, I even posted more than one chapter in one day before. Unfortunately I got caught up with school events. Between the last time I posted a chapter and now a lot has happened. First, I unintentionally led a controversial fundraiser at school (I had to refund and apologize to the school I felt terrible :cry: ). Then I went to prom, then I went to another island for a state debate tournament (our team failed to defend our title :angry: ) Then I played in a tennis tournament and did okay. After those events I finally told my best friend that I've liked them for a long time....it didn't work out, but at least we're still friends :sweatdrop: . Then to end the year I had AP tests hahaha. I finally finished high school once and for all last Friday and I have a nice little gap in between now and graduation.
I'm really sorry I didn't fit in time to write. I was really into writing and I often lost track of time and struggled to work on school stuff and fics at the same time. Now that it's summer, I have all the time I want!
The plan for the next several days is to finish chapter 8, and rewrite chapter 9 (because I'm an idiot and I lost it). I'm setting a deadline for myself. The story will be finished by May 30th. I hope you all continue to read despite my absence, please anticipate the last two chapters.

Chapter Eight
After a comfortable seven hour flight, the couple landed on the island of Hawaii (nishimura's home island). They would be spending the majority of their week on the island's west coast. The west side of the island, home to various luxury resorts, is known for year round warm weather and beautiful beaches.
Mayu and Yuki arrived at their hotel tired yet excited. Their wedding was scheduled for tomorrow and the anticipation was killing them. For the first night in Hawaii, the girls decided to to get separate rooms to make the wedding and honeymoon feel more special. The girls were also expecting close friends and family members to fly in shortly. There was a nice dinner for the couple and their families planned for the evening. While the couple was looking forward to dinner, both Mayu and Yuki were exhausted from traveling. They decided to head up to their rooms and nap before their meal.
After her nap, Mayu laid in her bed comfortably. Mayu's hotel room was spacious. The front door opened to a large, modern room with earthy tones. The room contained a large bed with soft sheets and abundant pillows. The room also had a bathroom with a large, marble tub. The doctor had opened a large glass door leading to the hotel room balcony. The warm sun and tropical breeze filled the room with a golden atmosphere. Mayu casually glanced at her phone and checked the time.
"Ah, I better get ready"
Mayu walked down the hall towards the elevator. She wore a cute, flowy, white dress that was perfect for the weather. The doctor arrived at the elevator and pressed the button.
BING
"Oh, hey!"
"Hey!"
The door opened to reveal Yuki standing in the elevator. She was wearing a strapless, floral maxi dress. She looked comfortable yet elegant. Mayu boarded the elevator and greeted her fiancé with a smile.
"How was your nap?" asked Yuki.
"Pretty good, yours?"
"I didn't sleep, I was too nervous."
"Why are you nervous?" asked Mayu.
"I was thinking about dinner tonight and I realized that it's going to be the first time we've met each other's parents."
"Oh my god. I didn't even think about that" said Mayu with a worried expression.
"Right! Like what if your parents hate me! What if they don't want us to get married! What if my parents aren't happy about it too! What if..What"
“Shhh, I’m sure it’ll be fine.” whispered Mayu.
The girls embraced until the elevator came to a stop

Mayu grabbed Yuki’s hand and briskly dragged her worried fiancé out of the elevator.
“Come on Yuki, we’re going to be late for dinner!”
“Wa-wait, no…I’m freaking out. I don’t think I can do this…wait.”
“We’re going!”
Eventually, the couple was standing at the entrance of a restaurant. Mayu opened the door and led Yuki inside. Once the weather girl felt the atmosphere of the restaurant, she put on a calm facade. All of the worry visibly left her face, yet her heart was beating rapidly. Mayu approached the hostess at the front desk.
“Hi, we’re here for the Watanabe and Kashiwagi pre-wedding dinner.”
“Ah, you must be the brides, we’ve been expecting you. The rest of your party is already in the dining room. Right this way!” The hostess signaled the couple to follow her.
Mayu and Yuki were escorted to a private dining room.
“Enjoy your dinner” said the hostess.
“Thank you”
The doors of the dining room opened to reveal the families of both Mayu and Yuki. All of the family members were mingling and casually talking. The couple’s entrance created a sudden silence.
“MAYU!”
A woman got up from her seat and ran to the doctor. She hugged Mayu tightly while swiveling from left to right.
“Hey mom.”
Mayu’s mother was thin and looked youthful. Her face was very similar to Mayu’s. She wore a sophisticated looking dress and her overall look was very refined. However, her personality was loud and warm. She cupped her daughters cheeks and began to ask dozens of questions.
“Ah you look older! Why haven’t you visited me? Are you eating enough? Why do you work all the time? You should take better care of yourself!….”
“Mom, you’re embarrassing me” whispered Mayu into her mother’s ear.
Yuki couldn’t help but chuckle at the scene of family commotion. She could tell Mayu’s mom had spoiled her daughter. Hearing the faint laughter, Mayu’s mother drew her attention to the girl standing next to her daughter.
“Ahhh you’re my future daughter-in-law! You’re so pretty! And tall!”
Mayu’s mom grabbed Yuki’s hands and squeezed them tightly.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Watanabe” said Yuki with a smile.
“It’s very nice to meet you too! And please, call me Mom”
“Okay…mom”
Mayu’s mother turned to face the rest of the table.
“I figured it would be good if these girls sat with the other’s family so we can all get to know each other better. So, Mayu, go sit with the Kashiwagis while Yuki can sit with your father and I”
“Wait…mom”
“Just do it!”
Mayu walked down to the end of the table where Yuki’s parents were calmly sitting. When Mayu approached the pair, they both stood up to properly greet their future daughter-in-law.
“I’m Watanabe Mayu, it’s very nice to meet you” said Mayu nervously.
Yuki’s mother gracefully walked up to Mayu and gently embraced her. The hug calmed Mayu’s nerves a little.
“I’m Yuki’s mother, it’s great to finally meet you”
A stern man approached the doctor and held out his hand.
“I’m Yuki’s father, nice to meet you”
Mayu shook his hand firmly in order to show fake confidence. The three sat down and began making small talk. Mayu observed Yuki’s parents, she was carefully examining their details to see the origin of her fiancé’s features and mannerisms.
Yuki’s mother had a very calm aura. Her face was very feminine and looked as if it were full is wisdom. Mayu could tell she cared for her daughter very much. After close examination, Mayu noticed that Yuki and her mother had very similar eyes.
Yuki’s father was a bigger man. He was very tall and had larger than average muscles for a man of his age. His face looked tough and experienced. Mayu knew that he must have been strict and protective of Yuki while she was growing up. While Mayu was in the middle of observing her future father-in-law, the intimidating man made direct eye contact with her and began to make conversation.
“So Mayu, tell me about your job. I heard you’re a doctor, you must be smart”
“Yeah..um..I’m a cardiologist and I operate on a range of different people.”
“So you work on hearts?”
“Yes sir”
“Is that how you were able to capture my daughter’s?”
Yuki’s dad’s statement made Mayu nervous. She didn’t know how to answer that blunt question.
“umm…well..i’m not exactly sure..”
“AHAHAHAHAHA HAHAAHAHA…I’m just messing with you. Stop getting all nervous HAHAHAHA” Yuki’s dad let out a loud, manly laugh.
“Stop it, you’re making her feel uncomfortable!” Yuki’s mom pinched her husband’s arm.
“No, it’s okay, really” Mayu tried to ease the mood while awkwardly chuckling.
Mayu wondered how Yuki was doing with her loud mother. The doctor glanced down the table to get a better look of her parents with her fiancé. Mayu could hear her mother laughing loudly.
“AHAHAHAHA, Yuki you’re so funny!” laughed Mayu’s Mother.
“Haha, thank you” said Yuki.
The weather girl was enjoying herself with Mayu’s parents. Mayu’s mother was loud and kept the conversation going, this made it a lot less awkward. Yuki was also enjoying Mayu’s father. He was much more quiet compared to his wife. He was a thin, clean cut looking man. He wore a light yellow cardigan over a white collard shirt. He had rectangular glasses and a feminine looking face. He spent the dinner shyly drinking coffee while listening to his wife and future daughter-in-law talk. Mayu’s parents perfectly balanced each other out with their personalities and Yuki noticed that her fiancé was the perfect blend between both parents.
Eventually the dinner had come to an end. Yuki had effortlessly developed a nice relationship with Mayu’s parents while Mayu hoped she did her best at impressing Yuki’s father.
“It’s been great getting to know you sir” stated Mayu with confidence.
“You know, you’re alright.” said Yuki’s father with a hearty smile.
Mayu held out her hand in preparation for another tough handshake but she was suddenly surprised when Yuki’s father enveloped her in a large bear hug. Mayu felt so small in the large man’s embrace, yet she felt she was finally part of the family.
“Take care of me daughter”
“Yes sir”
After the bear hug, Yuki’s mother gracefully approached Mayu. She gently cupped Mayu’s cheeks in her hands.
“You’re going to be a wonderful wife to my daughter” whispered Yuki’s mother.
“Thank you” said Mayu.
Yuki’s mother hugged Mayu delicately, almost opposite of how her husband hugged her. While the hugs were different, Mayu felt the same familial bond.
At the other end of the table, Yuki was saying goodnight to Mayu’s parents. Mayu’s mother ran to Yuki and boldly kissed the weather girl on the cheek while tightly hugging her. Yuki let out a surprised reaction.
“Oh Yuki it was so nice getting to know you!” said Mayu’s mother.
“It was nice meeting you too” chuckled Yuki.
Yuki glanced to Mayu’s father.
“It was also nice getting to meed you.” stated Yuki.
Mayu’s father finally made his first bold move of the night and hugged his future daughter-in-law. Yuki’s reaction to this hug was even more surprised, given his usual shy nature.
“You’re part of the family now” stated Mayu’s father.
“Thank you!” said Yuki
All of the family members said their goodnights and exited the restaurant. Mayu and Yuki boarded the elevator and headed off to their separate rooms.

The Next Morning, Mayu’s Room
Mayu was sleeping comfortably in her bed. She had made a nice, warm blanket burrito and was throughly enjoying her cocoon.
BANG BANG BANG
The loud banging noise made Mayu suddenly wake up. She irritatidly scrunched up her face and ignored the noise.
BANG BANG BANG
“MAYU! IT’S ME! YOUR MOTHER”
BANG BANG BANG
“MAAAAYUUUUU”
Mayu knew the banging wouldn’t stop until she answered the door. Taking the blanket with her she slowly opened the hotel room door.
“Mom what do you want?”
“How can you not be awake yet!? It’s your wedding day and you’re sleeping? I need to start getting you ready now!”
Mayu’s mom barged into the room and began looking through her daughter’s clothes. While this commotion was going on, Mayu returned to her bed.
“Come on Mayu, we need to leave to get ready. I’m getting you dress now, okay?”
“Mom, lets just chill for like five minutes”
Mayu’s mother ripped the blanket burrito open and grabbed her grumpy daughter. She started removing Mayu’s pajamas and dressing her for the day.
“Mom! Stop! I’m not five I can do this myself!”
“Well you’re taking forever and we have to leave, so hurry it up!”
In a few moments, Mayu was ready to go. The girl’s mother grabbed her wrist the pulled her out the door.
“Mom, where are we going?”
“We have to get your nails, hair and makeup done! It’s your wedding day after all! Now hurry up!”
The mother and daughter pair ran down the hallway and headed down the elevator.

Yuki’s Room
Yuki was awake, she sat on the balcony and enjoyed some morning coffee.
Knock Knock
“Yuki, can I come in?”
Yuki recognized her mother’s voice and opened the door.
“Good morning mom.”
“Good morning”
“Here, I’ll make you some coffee”
Yuki handed her mom a warm mug and led her to the balcony. The mother and daughter sat and stared at the Hawaiian horizon.
“Today’s your big day, are you excited?” asked Yuki’s mother.
“Yeah, I’m a little nervous too.” chuckled Yuki.
“That’s normal…do you plan to do anything before the wedding?”
“Yeah, I was going to get my hair, nails and makeup done. Wanna come with me?”
“Sounds good” said Yuki’s mother in a cheerful voice.
Yuki and her mother finished their coffee and headed out the door.

The day had gone by quickly. It was already almost sunset. The wedding was set up on a nice grassy hill overlooking the sea. The decorations were simple because the atmosphere was already breathtaking. A small group of seats were positioned facing a beautiful wooden arch. The girls would get married in front of this small crowd with the sea behind them. The guests began to arrive. Only very close friends and family members were invited.
Mayu and Yuki were in separate rooms nearby. They were with their fathers, preparing to walk down the aisle.
Mayu was fidgeting and looked nervous. Her dad walked up to her and hugged her.
“Everything will be fine” said Mayu’s dad in a gentle voice.
Yuki was calmly sitting while her father was pacing the room.
“Dad, stop pacing, you’re going to get all sweaty”
“I’m about to send my little girl off, let me do what I want!”
Yuki chuckled at her dad’s reaction.
Suddenly, the wedding organizer walked into Yuki’s room and signaled that it was time to go.
“Here we go dad” said Yuki with an excited voice.
Yuki linked arms with her father and walked outside.
Music began to play, the small crowd noticed Yuki walking down the aisle and stood up.
Yuki and her father walked gracefully. Her dad was wearing was wearing a black tux that made him look very manly. Yuki was wearing a beautiful dress. It was a princess style dress with a gorgeous silver ribbon around her waist. The weather girl had the biggest smile on her face as she walked towards the wooden arch. She eventually made it, unlinked arms with her father and took her position.
Next, Mayu was walking down the aisle with her father. May’s dad was also wearing a black suit. It fit his thin body well. Mayu wore a lacy dress with an empire silhouette. She and her father both looked elegant and pretty. Eventually Mayu made her way down to her place. The wedding immediately started.
The man who would marry the girls stood in the middle of the arch. He began the wedding.
“We gather here today to witness the marriage between Watanabe Mayu and Kashiwagi Yuki”
He gave a little speech about marriage. He planned on making the ceremony short and sweet.
“Do you, Mayu, take Yuki to be your partner in life, promising to love and cherish, through joy and sorrow, sickness and health, and whatever challenges you may face, for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do” stated Mayu with a smile.
“Do you, Yuki, take Mayu to be your partner in life, promising to love and cherish, through joy and sorrow, sickness and health, and whatever challenges you may face, for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do!” said Yuki excitedly.
“Okay, you may both kiss”
Both girls leaned in and kissed passionately in front of the sunset. The kiss reminded Mayu of their first kiss, on that grassy hill. The ceremony was shortly over. Mayu and Yuki linked arms and walked down the aisle to exit while the small crowd clapped with excitement. Mayu examined the crowd and found her mother sobbing out of happiness. Yuki look over to her father and noticed him shedding a single manly tear. Yuki began happily crying, she tightened her grip on Mayu’s arm. The couple exited while happily giggling.
The couple and the crowd traveled to a larger ballroom where the reception was held. There was delicious food, dancing, speeches and plenty of cake. The wedding guests were well taken care of while the newly weds throughly enjoyed their reception. After the celebration was over, Mayu and Yuki checked into their hotel suite. They boarded the elevator and headed to the top floor. Both girls rode the elevator in silence, mentally preparing themselves for the wild night they were about to have.

The door opened and the girls approached the door to their suite. Mayu calmly opened the door but Yuki quickly shoved her inside. The sudden push surprised Mayu and caused her to fall down and drag Yuki with her. The door slammed, the only sound that could be heard from the other side was the couple’s laughter.

Author's Note: Hello readers! This is the continuation of the wedding/Hawaii part of the story. I tried to add in some fun little events and stuff. I'm pretty sure this is either the second or the third to the last chapter. I really hope you enjoy reading! :deco:
Chapter Nine
The hotel suite was calm. The morning sun filled the room with tropical warmth while the breeze made the curtains flutter about. The newlyweds were still in bed, resting from their wedding night. The couple slept comfortably in an embrace. Mayu’s arms were wrapped around Yuki’s torso with her face nuzzled up to the taller girls neck and collar bone. Yuki had one of her hands playfully entangled in Mayu’s hair while her other hand loosely rested on Mayu’s hip. Both girls had begun to gradually awaken, the sun’s warmth and sounds of birds chirping outside created a peaceful atmosphere to wake up to. Yuki began to slowly run her fingers through her wife’s hair while Mayu tightened her embrace.
“Good morning” whispered Yuki
“Good morning” replied Mayu
Mayu slowly sat up and observed her surroundings.
“Last night was fun” said Yuki with a chuckle.
Mayu glanced at the floor near the foot of the bed and noticed both of their wedding dresses on the ground. Yuki’s comment with the sight of the dresses made Mayu blush instantly. Yuki sat up and hugged Mayu from behind, she rested her chin on the doctor’s shoulder.
“What do you want to do today?” asked Yuki.
“Let’s go to the beach!” said Mayu with excitement.

The beach was warm, the sound of waves washing on the sandy shore created the perfect atmosphere to relax. The newlyweds enjoyed this environment under a shady cabana. They had been at the beach for a few hours, watching the crystal clear water move at it’s steady rhythm. Yuki had been watching the occasional beach goers walk past their cabana. Suddenly, a young couple with a toddler walked down the beach.
“Do you think we’d ever adopt a kid?” asked Yuki.
“I hope we can someday” answered Mayu.
Both girls began to daydream about their future family life.
“Hey Yuki, do you want to go in the water?”
“Yeah lets go!”
Both girls slowly emerged from the shady cabana. The sun’s heat was finally hitting their skin. They walked gracefully towards the sparkling ocean. The sand was extremely soft and felt like velvet under their feet. Soon, the sudden coldness of the water hit their toes. At first the change in temperature surprised them, but they soon realized it was the perfect temperature. Mayu immediately submerged her body and Yuki soon followed.
“Ahh this is so refreshing” sighed Mayu.
The couple had fun swimming around. The pristine water made them both look like mermaids.
“Hey Mayu, I’m getting kind of tired. I’m going to sit under the cabana for a while” said Yuki.
“Okay, I still feel like swimming. I’ll meet you up there in a bit”
Yuki gave Mayu a quick peck on the lips and began swimming to shore. Now that Mayu was alone, she swam around more and explored the life underwater. Numerous schools of fish darted through the water, colorful coral formed a gorgeous reef that was surrounded with activity. Mayu had so much fun watching the actions of underwater creatures, time was passing considerably fast.
“I should get back to Yuki”
Mayu swam to shore quickly and dashed up to the cabana. She approached the shady structure thinking her wife would be irritated by how she was gone for so long, however, Mayu was pleasantly surprised. Yuki was fast asleep. Her eyes were peacefully closed, lips delicately parted while her chest gracefully moved up and down to the pace of her slow breathing. Mayu smiled at this sight, trying her best not to wake Yuki up, she quietly sat down under the cabana. As Mayu sat down, she noticed there was a covered plate with her name on it. Uncovering the plate revealed a delicious lunch that was untouched.
“Yuki must have ordered lunch from the beach attendant, how sweet”
Mayu began to devour the food. She had spent her entire afternoon in the water and had forgotten to eat. The sound of the doctor’s eating frenzy caused Yuki to wake up. Suddenly, Mayu heard faint laughing next to her.
“You’re so funny” laughed Yuki.
“What?” said Mayu with food still in her mouth.
“You swim all day, forget to eat, and then make the loudest noises shoveling in food” said Yuki while still laughing.
“What were you even doing all this time?” asked Yuki
“I was looking at fish…” said Mayu with an embarrassed look on her face.
“Sounds fun” teased Yuki with a sarcastic voice.
“It was really cool, I swear!”
Both girls broke into laughter. They joked around and teased each other for a while, telling old embarrassing stories, attempting to make each other blush. They had so much fun, they only stopped when they noticed it was already sunset.
“Wow, we’ve spent the entire day here” laughed Mayu.
“Well, you’ve spent the entire day looking at fish” teased Yuki.
“Very funny, but seriously, look at how pretty the sky is right now!”
The sky had changed into gorgeous hues of orange and pink. The minimal clouds created dancing shapes over the fiery horizon. Yuki gently grabbed Mayu’s hand and squeezed it, almost as if she was trying to hold on to that moment forever.
“I have a surprise for you” stated Yuki in an excited voice.
“What is it?”
“You’ll find out tomorrow”
“Please tell me now!”
“Nope, you’ll have to wait” said Yuki with a devious look.

“Mayu! Hey Mayu! Wakeup!”
Yuki stood next to the bed and gently shook her sleeping wife’s shoulder. Mayu’s eyes gradually opened but her face retracted when exposed to the light and Yuki’s yelling.
“Get out of bed! It’s time for the surprise I planned for you!”
Mayu sat up excitedly as she suddenly remembered the surprise. The doctor looked at Yuki with wide eyes full of anticipation only to realize that Yuki was dressed unusually. Yuki looked like she was about to go on a crazy adventure. She was decked out in a black bomber jacket that was half unzipped to reveal a tank top underneath, she was also wearing dark green pants that had different zippers and pockets on the legs. The rest of her look was topped off with combat boots and a beanie that matched her jacket. The entire outfit oozed with the aura of a bad-ass.
“While I think you look really cool, why are you dressed like that?” asked Mayu with a perplexed look.
“We have to dress like this for the surprise! Here I got you some clothes.”
Yuki handed Mayu a folded bundle of similar looking clothes. Mayu put them on with a confused look on her face. Her outfit was the same as Yuki’s except the colors were different. Mayu had a navy jacket and maroon pants.
“Now that I put on this outfit, can you please tell me what the surprise is?”
“Not yet, let’s go!”
Yuki grabbed Mayu’s hand and the pair darted out of the hotel suite. They were soon outside of the lobby. A black SUV pulled up and an intimidating driver exited the car.
“Kashiwagi Yuki?”
“Yep that’s me” answered Yuki”
“Right this way”
The driver opened the door for the girls to enter the SUV. He returned to his seat and began driving.
“Yuki this is really weird, please tell me where we’re going”
“We’ll be there soon enough, just wait”
Mayu was getting confused and flustered. She had no idea what was happening. All she could do was look out the window to figure out where they were headed. The doctor soon realized that they were leaving the coast of the island and heading up towards the tall, jungly mountains. Yuki loved watching Mayu in her confused state, her slightly irritated face made Yuki laugh internally.
“We’ll be there in about twenty minutes” said the driver.
At this point, there was no evidence of the coastline. The scenery was complete jungle. The trees were incredibly tall, almost absorbing the tiny road the couple traveled on. The environment just made Mayu think about the surprise even more. She had no idea what she and Yuki would be doing in the jungle dressed like that.
“We better not be camping, I came to Hawaii to relax, not to rough it!” complained Mayu.
“Don’t worry, we’ll be back at the hotel by dinner” assured Yuki.
“Looks like we’re here” said the driver.
The SUV pulled up to a modern looking building in the middle of the jungle. The driver opened the door for the girls and helped them out of the large vehicle.
“I’ll be back to pick you girls up in an hour” The driver gave a friendly smile and headed down the road.
“Come on Mayu, lets go”
Yuki grabbed Mayu’s hand and led her inside the structure. The interior of the building had a warm and cozy atmosphere. There was a nice fireplace with comfy couches surrounding it. On the other side of the room, there was a front desk and various types of harnesses, helmets and other outdoor equipment. Yuki sat Mayu down on one of the couches.
“I’ll be right back” said Yuki as she kissed Mayu on her forehead.
Yuki approached the front desk, a friendly man greeted her.
“Hi!, welcome to Hawaii Adventure Tours. Are you the Kashiwagi party?”
“Yep!”
“Great, I just need you to sign these wavers, then I can get you and your wife into some harnesses and you’ll be on your way”
“Thank you”
Yuki quickly signed the papers and then called Mayu over. The doctor timidly walked over to the desk. The man grabbed some harnesses off the wall and began assisting the girls. As he was tightening Mayu’s harness, the man noticed she was a little scared and irritated looking.
“You look a little scared, don’t worry, zip lining is a lot of fun” said the man with a smile.
“What!? Zip lining?”
“Yeah, that’s what your wife signed up for.”
Mayu looked at Yuki with scared eyes. The weather girl chuckled at the doctor’s expression.
“Yuki, you didn’t tell me we were going zip lining!”
“That was the surprise”
Mayu’s face grew more and more terrified. Yuki started feeling bad, she thought Mayu would have liked the surprise.
“If you’re that scared, we can just go back” said Yuki.
“No…it’s fine. We’re already up here. Let’s just do it” pouted Mayu.
The atmosphere got heated. The man started feeling uncomfortable as the couple had their first disagreement as newlyweds. To ease the tension, he brought the girls refreshments and led them to the couches.
“You two can wait here for your tour guides to arrive. I hope you both have a wonderful time.” He smiled and returned to his desk.
The couple sat in silence. Eventually, a jeep pulled up and two active looking men went inside. Both men approached the couple and introduced themselves.
“Hi I’m Josh and I’ll be one of your tour guides”
“I’m Eric, I’ll be your other guide”
The girls shook both of the guide’s hands and were led into the jeep.
“It’s going to be a bumpy ride up the mountain so hold on tight” said Josh.
The jeep began climbing up a bumpy road. Neither girl said a word the first ten minutes up the mountain. As they got closer and closer to their destination, Mayu became even more nervous. She naturally scooted close to Yuki and grabbed her hand. Yuki squeezed Mayu’s hand to reassure her.
“I forgive you, I’m just scared. I’ve never done anything like this before” whispered Mayu.
“I’m sorry Mayu, I just wanted to do something different and adventurous with you. I hope we can have a lot of fun today”
“I hope so too”
For the rest of the ride, Mayu rested her head on Yuki’s shoulder. She was mentally preparing herself for flying through the air attached to a wire.
“Okay, we’re here! Let’s continue the rest of the tour on foot.” said Eric enthusiastically.
The tour guides led the couple on a beautiful trail through the Hawaiian jungle. They talked about the history of the forest while stating interesting facts about the variety of plant species. Mayu had finally begun to relax and enjoy the tour. She held onto Yuki’s hand with liveliness, completely forgetting about her fears of zipping through the air. Suddenly, the group of four arrived at the first zip line of the day. Mayu’s energy instantly declined. The long cable was positioned over a narrow valley with sturdy wooden platforms at each end.
“This is our first line, It’s not that high up and it’s only relatively long” stated Josh
“I’ll head down first so I can assist you ladies on the other side” said Eric
Eric hooked himself to the long wire and flew through the jungle. His experience made it look incredibly easy and natural. He was on the other side in no time.
“Okay, who wants to go first?” asked Josh.
Mayu looked at Yuki with scared eyes, signaling the weather girl to volunteer.
“I’ll go first!” sated Yuki without fear.
Josh checked Yuki’s harness and safety gear and clipped her to the cable. Yuki jumped from the platform in a daring fashion. The wind quickly hit the girls face as she zipped through the air. The view of the valley was beautiful, unfortunately the ride was soon over and Eric was unclipping Yuki and leading her to safety.
“YOU CAN DO IT MAYU!” yelled Yuki.
Mayu could hear her wife’s encouraging words from across the valley. Her fear didn’t decrease.
“Okay, you're next! Theres nothing to be afraid of, you can go slower. Just enjoy the view” said Josh with a smile.
Mayu exited the platform without the daring jump. At first, the terrified doctor shut her eyes but the tropical air felt nice on her face. For the second half of the ride, the doctor tried to open her eyes and enjoy the birds eye view of the valley. Just as she was beginning to enjoy her flight, Eric was unclipping her.
“Was that fun?” asked Eric
“Yeah, I actually thought it was nice!” affirmed Mayu, she had surprised herself.
Hearing Mayu say she enjoyed the zip line made Yuki really happy. The weather girl ran to Mayu and grabbed her hands.
“I knew you would like it.” said Yuki.
Suddenly Josh zipped over from the other side of the valley.
“I’m glad you girls enjoyed that, there’s a lot more where that came from. We have nine more zip lines to ride by the end of the tour!” said Josh as he unclipped himself from the cable and joined the group.
“n-nine?!” said Mayu with a scared look.
“You said you had fun, you can’t back out now!” retorted Yuki.
The guides laughed at the couple’s interaction and continued to led them through the jungle. The next zip line was a lot longer and higher. It was positioned over another valley with a beautiful waterfall flowing through the middle of it. Both of the girls enjoyed the one of a kind view. Continuing the tour, each line had a gorgeous view of the jungle below. Both Mayu and Yuki felt like birds, traveling through the tropical air at high speeds. After each line, they laughed and throughly enjoyed themselves.
“Unfortunately this tour is coming to an end” said Josh.
“This is our last, and most extreme zip line” stated Eric.
This zip line didn’t have a wooden platform at the start. Instead, the line was attached to a secure wooden pole which led off the edge of a cliff, across a vast section of the jungle and ended on another tall cliff on the other side. To get on the zip line with enough speed, the girls would have to run off the cliff while attached to the cable. While entirely safe, the feeling of running off a cliff was a tough mental challenge. Both girls locked eyes and challenged each other. Neither one of them wanted to be afraid.
“I’m going first” affirmed Mayu.
“Okay, I’ll hook you up” said Josh.
Mayu began sprinting as fast as she could towards the edge of the cliff. She wanted maximum speed for her final ride over the jungle. Soon she felt her final step of solid ground under her boots and began flying through the air. Her speed and conquer of her fears invigorated her. She rode the line with the biggest smile on her face. Now it was Yuki’s turn. She also sprinted off the cliff at her top speed. The happy weather girl laughed her entire way across the sky. Soon, all four were across and the group found themselves at the beginning of the trail where the jeep was parked.
“Well, I hope you both enjoyed your time on the tour” said Eric
“It seemed like you girls had a lot of fun” laughed Josh
The couple piled into the jeep and began heading back to the cozy building. The entire way back, the girls talked about each line and their favorite parts of the tour. Mayu had completely forgotten about her fears in the beginning. Soon, they were waiting for the black SUV to bring them back to the warm coastline. The intimidating driver arrived shortly.
“Did you both have fun?” asked the driver.
“Yep, we had a lot of fun” said Yuki.
The driver opened the door for the couple then returned to his seat. He began the long drive back to the hotel. The exiting events of the day had exhausted the girls, as the both fell asleep in the car on the way back. The driver looked through his rear-view mirror and looked at the sleeping couple. Yuki rested her head on Mayu’s shoulder while Mayu rested her head on top of Yuki’s head. They fell asleep holding hands too. All the driver could do was smile at the cute scene. Eventually they arrived back at the hotel. The driver didn’t want to wake the couple up from their slumber but he had to.
“Excuse me, Mrs. Kashiwagi? We’re here”
Yuki slowly opened her eyes.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry. How long did we keep you waiting here?” asked Yuki with an embarrassed face.
“Not long, don’t worry.” smiled the driver.
Yuki nudged Mayu and helped her out of the car. Yuki thanked the driver and walked with Mayu to the elevators. Soon they were in their suite, completely exhausted. Both Mayu and Yuki crashed their bodies onto the large bed. At the brink of sleeping, Mayu lightly tugged on Yuki’s sleeve.
“Yuki, we’re all gross. Let’s take a bath”
“I don’t want to. I’m so tired” whined Yuki.
“Come on! Just take a bath” said Mayu with an irritated voice.
“No, I’m so lazy”
“Fine, I guess I’ll just take one by myself. I was going to ask if you wanted to take a bath together, but I guess you’re too lazy” teased Mayu with a sarcastic tone in her voice.
“Wait, never mind! I’ll take a bath!”
Yuki quickly got up and followed Mayu to the bathroom. The bathroom was very spacious and it had a large marble tub. After both girls cleaned themselves, they hopped into the tub to relax. Yuki closed her eyes and enjoyed the warm water soothing her body after a long and exciting day. Suddenly, she felt Mayu’s arms wrap around her to form a hug. Mayu brought her lips up to Yuki’s ear and began to whisper.
“Yuki, I had a lot of fun today. Thank’s for the surprise”
Yuki blushed at the fact that Mayu was hugging her in the bath tub. To accept Mayu’s thanks, the weather girl quickly pecked her on the lips. Mayu happily sighed and returned to the other end of the tub. Both girls closed their eyes and enjoyed sharing the warm water together.
“I can’t believe we have to go home tomorrow” complained Mayu.
“Wait, we’re already going home?”
“Yeah, we’ve been in Hawaii for almost five days, haven’t you noticed?” asked Mayu with a surprised voice.
“I just thought we had more time” whined Yuki.
“Yeah, I have to go back and do that surgery” said Mayu with uncertainty in her voice.
“Don’t worry about that now, you’ll be fine. Let’s just enjoy our last night in Hawaii”
The couple spent another ten minutes in the bath and then returned to their bed. Mayu suddenly heard the growl of her stomach.
“I’m really hungry, but I really don’t want to get dressed and go out for dinner”
“Same here, let’s just get room service” suggested Yuki.
“Good idea”
Mayu and Yuki changed into their pajamas and happily waited for their food to arrive. When it did, they ate it while laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Eventually the girls had laughed themselves to sleep and had both fallen into a carefree slumber.
The next morning Mayu work up a few hours early to start packing. She decided to pack everything and let Yuki sleep. In no time, both of their suitcases were carefully packed and perfectly organized. The doctor even picked out outfits to wear on the plane ahead of time. Glancing at her watch, Mayu noticed that she still had time to pick up breakfast before Yuki woke up. She quietly exited and went to order breakfast. In no time, Mayu was back with coffee, pastries and a variety of fresh fruit. The smell of fresh coffee woke Yuki up. The weather girl gracefully sat up and smiled at Mayu.
“Did you get breakfast?”
“Yep. I packed our bags too.”
“Wow, you’re so busy. Thank you”
Mayu handed Yuki her breakfast and they both ate in bed.
“Okay Yuki, our flight is at noon so we don’t have a lot of time. Is there anything you want to do?”
“I just want to lay here with you”
Yuki pulled Mayu down onto the bed with her. They spent their final hours in Hawaii happily cuddling.
After a few hours, they were at the airport about to board their flight back to Japan. Both Mayu and Yuki looked sad and happy at the same time. They loved paradise but they were excited to get back to their usual routine. As the couple took their seats on the plane, Mayu started rummaging through her bag. The doctor pulled out a medical file, a legal pad, a medical book, glasses and a pen. Mayu laid all her materials out on the tray table in front of her. She immediately began planning and strategizing her upcoming surgery.
“Are you really going to do that on the plane?” asked Yuki with a concerned voice
“I have to.” Said Mayu while adjusting her glasses.
The flight took almost eight hours and Mayu was up the entire time. On the flight she strategized her ideal plan for the surgery and she also wrote down four additional plans in case the ideal plan didn’t work. She knew her patient’s file from cover to cover. She knew she would have to execute absolute perfection to keep her career intact. During most of this time, Yuki was asleep. Whenever the weather girl was awake, she watched her wife diligently work without any distractions. The girls had exited the plane and had placed their suitcases in their car they had parked at the airport.
“I’ll drive, you must be exhausted” stated Yuki
Yuki began the short drive to Mayu’s apartment. When they arrived, Mayu unlocked the door. The apartment was completely untouched since the last time they were there. The familiar smell of home comforted both girls. The first thing Mayu wanted to do was unpack quickly. She began to unzip her suitcase and place her clothes in her closet. Yuki grabbed her by the wrist and scolded her.
“Unpack later! What you need to do the most is sleep. You have a big surgery tomorrow and you cannot be tired for that.”
“I just want to get this done!”
“No! go to sleep. I’ll do the unpacking later. I just want you to get some rest” said Yuki with an irritated voice.
“Fine”
Yuki led Mayu to her bed and tucked her in. As an apology for scolding, Yuki gave Mayu a kiss on the forehead. Mayu fell asleep almost instantly. She even slept through dinner. Night time had arrived and Yuki was getting ready for bed. She set Mayu’s alarm, then she set her own alarm for an hour earlier. Soon, she crawled into bed next to her incredibly sleepy wife.

BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP
The sudden sound of the alarm startled Mayu. She quickly turned it off and jumped out of bed. She knew she had to start getting ready for the surgery. The doctor ran downstairs thinking she had to make breakfast and get all of her things organized, however, she was pleasantly surprised to see Yuki had done most of the preparation already. The table had a nice, healthy breakfast waiting for Mayu. Yuki had also washed the doctor’s scrubs and neatly folded them on the couch. Next to the scrubs was all of Mayu’s notes she had taken on the plane. Mayu smiled at the effort her wife had made.
“Thank you so much Yuki, this really helps a lot”
“Anything I can do to help”
Mayu quickly ate and changed into her clothes. She grabbed her notes and began heading out the door.
“Wait!” yelled Yuki.
Yuki ran up to Mayu and gave her a caring kiss on the cheek.
“You got this!” encouraged Yuki.
“Thanks!”
Mayu sped to the hospital in her car. She arrived shortly and began going over her plans in her head. Mayu had done everything she possibly could to prepare herself for this operation.
“Ah doctor Watanabe, you’re here. The staff is ready, please prepare yourself” said a nurse.
“Thank you”
Mayu prepared for the operation by disinfecting her hands and arms. She put on her mask and entered the operating room. Her staff of highly trained doctors also looked prepared. She stood above her very young patient. She was going to preform a surgery that could make or break her career. With a scalpel in hand, she made her first, delicate incision.

I'm starting to lost track but as far as I can remember, this was all just Mayu's dream starting in end of Chapter 2? :huhuh
If this is so, hope she won't wake up so soon! :lol:

Chapter Ten
Yuki sat on the couch in Mayu’s living room. She had curled her body into a ball and wedged herself into the corner of the geometric looking couch. The weather girl stared aimlessly and noticed dark rain clouds swiftly approaching. While she had confidence in Mayu, the weather girl’s happy personality was stifled by fear of the worst case senario. Her position on the couch changed rapidly when she heard the slamming of a car door. Yuki got up quickly and glanced at the front door. The door flew open and slammed loudly as Mayu stormed through the living room and up the stairs to the bedroom. At that moment, Yuki knew that the surgery had failed.
“Wait! Mayu”
Yuki ran up the stairs to comfort her wife. Her running stopped when she entered the doorway to their bedroom. Mayu was on her knees, crying on the floor. Yuki walked up to the ball of tears and kneeled next to devastated doctor. Yuki lightly rubbed Mayu’s arm and back as an attempt to provide comfort.
“Don’t touch me” whispered Mayu.
Yuki flinched her hand away.
“Hey, don’t be like that. Come here” said Yuki.
Yuki wrapped her arms around Mayu and squeezed her tightly. Suddenly Mayu quickly pushed Yuki away. The force of the push knocked Yuki out of her kneeling position and onto the floor. Yuki, overcome with anger got up and grabbed Mayu’s wrist. She yanked the doctor’s arm up and brought the crying girl to her feet.
“Don’t you ever push me like that again. Now cut the attitude and talk to me!” said Yuki in a harsh tone.
Mayu slapped Yuki’s hand away from her wrist.
“I TOLD YOU NOT TO TOUCH ME!”
Mayu looked Yuki dead in the eyes. The doctor’s face was red and drenched in tears. Yuki’s eyes were getting glassy and her face expression looked hurt.
“I’m just trying to comfort you, why are you being such an asshole!”
“Look Yuki, I would normally appreciate your comfort right now but I just lost everything.”
Mayu averted her eyes and turned towards the window. At this point it was pouring rain outside. The room rumbled with every boom of thunder while lightning caused the dark bedroom to flash sporadically”
“I have nothing right now. I’ve lost my job, my reputation. I won’t be able to find a job anywhere, Japan hates me right now. I’ll be forced to move overseas and even if I move, I’ll be lucky to get hired. My entire livelihood is gone, I’m nobody.”
“But you haven’t lost everything, you still have me” said Yuki with a quiver in her voice.
“I don’t deserve you anymore, you should just leave me before I completely crash and burn.”
“I will never leave you”
Yuki grabbed Mayu’s wrist again. Mayu slowly turned to Yuki with solemn eyes.
“Just get out of here, before it’s too late”
“No”
“Just get out”
“No!”
Unsure about what to do, Yuki tightened her grip on Mayu’s wrist. Her other hand cupped the side of Mayu’s face. The weather girl leaned in and forcefully kissed Mayu, thinking this method would calm her down. Yuki’s chest was met with another powerful shove and she flew backwards away from Mayu.
“GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE YUKI!”
Yuki walked right back up to Mayu and slapped her across the face. Mayu’s face was overcome with instant pain, she instinctively cupped her own cheek while still in shock after Yuki hit her. Yuki turned away and started walking out of the room, she stopped at the doorway.
“I’ll get out for now, but I’ll be back to talk when you’re ready to be yourself”
Yuki slammed the bedroom door and ran downstairs. She didn’t stop for a second as she grabbed her keys and ran outside into her car. Mayu sat on the floor of the bedroom and looked at the ceiling as she heard the engine of Yuki’s car start.
Yuki sped out of the driveway in the pouring rain. She zipped down the road driving as fast as she possibly could. As she was traveling at top speed, tears began streaming down her face. She hadn’t cried during her fight with Mayu but now she was alone and overcome with emotion. She was approaching an intersection and the light had turned red, she was too lost in her emotions to stop. She ran the red light. She increased her speed even more. She was approaching another intersection. This one was also red. She decided to keep going again. She made it across but other cars honked at her.
She began to run through another intersection. Her face was drenched in tears. She snapped out of her emotional state when she heard the loud horn of a truck. She turned her head towards the source of the noise. Her eyes met the bright headlights of the truck speeding directly towards her. At that instant, all time seemed to stop. Her teardrops floated in the air as they twinkled under the bright light. During this instant, all of Yuki’s memories flushed through her head. Every moment and experience that defined her existence was rapidly relived in a matter of milliseconds. Yuki was drawn back to reality by the sound of another loud truck horn and the screeching of breaks.
ERREECH! CRASHBANGBOOM!
Mayu shot up and inhaled quickly. She breathed rapidly as she attempted to observe her surroundings. She realized she had been sleeping on her couch. A loud sound of metal scraping on pavement could be heard from outside. Mayu ran to her living room window and noticed a garbage truck noisily moving a dumpster on the street. She took more time to examine her apartment, it looked different and seemed lacking of life. She looked at her shelves and noticed Yuki’s things were gone.
“No!”
Mayu ran upstairs to her bedroom and looked through her closet. All of Yuki’s clothes were gone. She finally glanced down to her left hand and noticed she wasn’t wearing a ring.
“It was all a dream…all of that.”
The doctor quickly looked at her phone and checked the time and date. It was early March, 2014; she had gone through an entire year in her dreams. It was also 10:00 PM, just in time for the news. Mayu ran back downstairs and turned the television on.
“Good evening, Kashiwagi Yuki here with tomorrow’s weather.”
Mayu stared blankly at the screen and shut it off. She couldn’t bare to see Yuki , knowing everything they had was just a dream. Mayu didn’t know what to do with her life anymore. She needed to just get out of her apartment for a while, she needed a long walk and some fresh air to begin processing everything. She grabbed her coat and stepped outside. The doctor walked into the darkness until she couldn’t be seen from her empty apartment.
Author's Note: Hello readers, thank you so much for sticking with this fic. It's really meant a lot to me. This was technically the last chapter but I'll probably write an epilogue because I'm assuming people won't be happy with the ending of the story. Thank you once again! :deco:

I guess we are as frustrated as Mayu that all of this was only a dream....but at the same time if it means Yuki didn't get involved in an accident it makes things a little (just a little!) better! ^^
Well thank you for this wonderful story,it was such a nice one to read. You did really great, sorry to have missed the updates and to only come now but i'll support you if you're ready for another story and of course some epilogue of this one could be like NECESSARY xD *Peace*
