Pure bliss
Her white dress was billowing in the wind, she’s getting married today, all happy thoughts have invaded her mind, a smile crept up on her face. It was a short time that they have been together but that doesn't matter anymore because they are getting married.
She imagined her future wife together with her at the altar to make her the happiest woman in the world, nothing could ruin this day for her, not even her future wife’s mother that hated her since they had told her that they were dating. “Nope not even ‘Mama’ can ruin this day for us.” she thought.

Upon entering the church, she noticed that all eyes were on them, as the priest glared at them caught in mid sentence.
Her fiance just flashed the priest a smug smile. A smile that she irritated her once upon a time, but that’s another story to tell.
“Yokoyama Yui, what on earth are you doing here? Can’t you see I am in the middle of a mass?” The priest said as he got down the altar and approached Yui.
“Obviously I came here to get married father, and if you please I want to get married as soon as possible, because the witch is on the move.” Yui said coolly.
She stood there smiling awkwardly at the priest that was studying Yui’s smug smile. “Well if your mother is against this marriage then your father might have allowed you to get married.” the priest said as he pressed his fingers to his temples as if to prevent an oncoming headache.
Everybody in the church was gawking at them, some are exchanging opinions on what was exactly happening at the altar.
“But you don’t even have any witnesses for your marriage Yui. How on earth are we going to proceed with this marriage?” the priest whispered to Yui.
Yui beamed at the priest, “Father, thank you for asking.” she said as she turned to the small crowd of people that has gathered for the mass. “Ladies and Gentlemen, I know this is short notice, and some of you may not care, but I want to marry this wonderful and lovely woman beside me, and I want you all to be our witnesses.”
There was a lot of nodding, some people just shrugged their shoulders and watched the impromptu wedding happening in front of them.
The priest just shook his head and went back to the altar, and proceeded to the wedding rites. “We are gathered here today my dear brothers and sisters to witness the bonding ceremony of these two people that God has brought together.”
“Ah, father not to interrupt you or anything but could you please hurry this up?” Yui said as she grinned annoyingly at the priest.
“Bah! Fine, Do you Yokoyama Yui take.. uh what is her name again?” The priest inquired.
“Shimazaki Haruka you fatherness.” Yui winked
“Do you Yokoyama Yui take Shimazaki Haruka as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in joy and in sorrow, in sickness and health till death do you part?” the priest continued
“Yes your fatherness.”
“And do you Shimazaki Haruka take this egotistic child to call as your lawfully wedded wife to love and to hold, in joy and sorrow, in sickness and in health and till death do you part? Please I beg you say no, your life is much better off without her, but if you say yes then I can no longer save you my child.” the priest said, distancing the mic for the last sentence.
Haruka smiled acknowledging that her wife is really mischievous “Yes I do father.”
“Then by all means you may kiss your bride.” Said the priest as he gave the final blessing to the shortest wedding in history.
They kissed for what felt and eternity with people clapping and rejoicing for them. When they separated they walked down the aisle with the people in the church whooping and cheering for them.
Reaching the streets of Tokyo, Haruka felt a sense of freedom, she was finally with the woman that she loved and loved her back. Laughing as they got to the parking lot, out of breath with smiles plastered to their faces.

Big trouble in lala land
1 year after their marriage
The sound of a whistling kettle, and the smell of burnt stew was in the air but Haruka paid it no heed, the pain in her abdomen was unbearable, a groan escaped her lips as she clutched her stomach trying to walk to the kitchen to try and repair her cooking, but the pain was overwhelming.

The door to their apartment opened, and her wife walked in “Paruru?” Yui called, as she peered into the kitchen/dining room left to their living room. Haruka didn't looked at Yui, she knows she’ll be mad again, she just laid the (burnt-repaired) food on the table and left Yui to eat.
The taste was unbearable, it was burnt and too salty. “Aish, did this woman pour the whole sea into this stew?” Yui said shaking her head, pushing the plate of rice and stew that Haruka had prepared.
Walking towards the living room, “Woman can you not even make a decent meal for your wife that’s working hard as a lowly medical saleswoman? Huh?” Yui said in a loud voice.
Haruka didn’t respond, she didn’t mean to burn the stew she made for her wife, Haruka kept her head down. “Oy! Are you even listening to me Paru?” Yui grabbed her arm.
What happened was too quick, she didn’t notice that she did it, but she was so fed up with Yui yelling at her, she shook off Yui's hold and pushed the nearest item near her.
“That costed me a month’s worth of my salary!” Yui cried as she kneeled picking up her now broken camera that she had saved up on.
“I am so fed up with you! Paru this Paru that, oy! Do you ever not blame me?” She shouted, the sound of blood roaring in her ears.
Yui stood up her head was still down her hair covering her face but, her eyes were so filled with anger as she grabbed a pair of scissors and Haruka’s
favorite handbag that was hanging from the bag caddy. “Fine, just so you know you started this. This huh..” Yui said as branded the bag to Haruka as she snipped the bag in pieces.
Haruka’s mouth hanged dry, her eyes wide as she screamed and grabbed Yui’s phone and threw it to the wall. “YOU IDIOT!”
Infuriated Yui grabbed the nearest thing that happened to be the painting of them in their wedding dresses, Haruka cherished that painting the most out of anything in their apartment because it was the painting that Yui’s father gave to them as a wedding present and smashed it to the floor.
Haruka gasped audibly, her ears turned a tinge of red with the anger that she’s feeling right now, she grabbed the scissors that fell from Yui’s hand, and approached Yui’s prized possession: her speakers, that high definition with bass enhancer and noise cancellation big ass speakers.
Yui’s eyes widened at the prospect of her ‘baby’ being destroyed. “No Paru please I beg you don’t… No paru no.” but Haruka wasn’t going to be stopped, everything they built in this place are now in tatters might as well spare nothing, Yui slumped at the ground as she stabbed Yui’s prized speakers repeatedly.

Both of them was just done with what they are today, “Til death do you part….” The priest's words echoed through her head it seemed so long ago but it has just been a year after they promised each other forever.
“We should just get a divorce….” Yui said with a small voice.
Haruka couldn’t believe what she’s hearing, this was not the Yui that she fell in love with, this wasn’t her Yui that had a bright smile, they weren't the happy couple that they've been a year ago. She was different now and so was Yui. “I--I guess we should….” Haruka said her voice cracking as she was on the verge of crying.
Yui got up and headed to their room ignoring the mess that they created, ignoring her wife who was now sobbing her heart out as she slammed the door.
Haruka cleaned up, letting tears fall from her eyes. She didn’t mind that Yui had smashed that painting, the pain in her chest wasn't from it. "We should just get a divorce..." her wife's words rung in her head.

It was already three days since they had that big fight the threat of a divorce forgotten, but Yui was still acting so distant from her. On the night after the fight Yui came home so drunk she passed out near their front door. Haruka found her wife outside when she decided to go look for her, then cleaned her up and put her to bed.
Tonight wasn't any different. It was almost 1 am and her wife is still not home.
"What's taking her so long?" Haruka muttered to herself glancing at the clock by the kitchen.
She stood up trying to rid of the unwanted thoughts that invaded her mind, none of which are positive, she headed to the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea, maybe that would calm her nerves.
Halfway through her tea, she heard the front door open.
"Tadaima.." Yui said the slur in her voice confirmed Haruka that her wife is drunk again.
"Why are you home just now?" Haruka asked emerging from the kitchen pulling her robe closer to her body.
Yui bit her lip her vision was already hazy, her brain addled from all the alcohol she drank. "Me and the other girls just had a meeting. No need to worry." She smiled halfheartedly.
As much as she hated her wife for going home late and drunk, she's still her wife. "Okay, why don't you take a shower and I made tea if you want some. I'm not really sleepy so if you want then you can already go to bed.
Yui nodded taking off her coat discarding it on the couch, and headed off to take a shower.
Haruka sighed, at least now that her wife is home, she could relax a bit.
Seeing the discarded clothing on the couch, she picked it up and stared at it, it has a stain. And not just alcohol stain, it was something that had enraged her... A single lipstick mark.
Her face felt suddenly hot, her hands trembled, hot tears streamed down her face, she sobbed on Yui's coat. Inhaling a different scent other than her wife's favorite perfume. "How could she..."

Her body was refreshed, she just finished showering, she was dead tired because of that party which she insisted on not going, but her other colleagues were calling her whipped, she shook her head trying to shake off the forming headache, "Ugh. Note to self, never drink Yamazaki single malt whisky with beer right after."
Going to their bedroom she noticed Haruka on the bed. "We should rest already. I have a big day tomorrow. Err later." Yui said climbing on the bed.
"Big day with your mistress?" Haruka asked with a pained voice.
"Pardon?" Yui said sitting up on the bed.
"Oh you know your mistress, the one that left THIS on your coat collar." Haruka said tossing Yui's jacket on the bed. "I bet she was all over you tonight and the other nights as well huh, the smell of her perfume is all over that jacket." She smirked
"What the hell are you talking about Haruka? I went out with my colleagues tonight and the other night to have a meeting with the company bosses. Are you thinking that I cheated on you because that is the single most stupidest thing that you thought about me." Yui said grasping the jacket her eyes meeting her wife’s.
"Oh I am not thinking that you cheated on me Yui, I know you cheated on me. All of it fits now, the coming home late, drunk and/or passed out, the perfume smell on your clothes. It all fits." Haruka said raising her voice.
Yui just shook her head, "I am working Haruka, for you, for me. For us. I am trying to save this marriage."
Haruka laughed sarcastically. "Oh come on Yui, I have been trying to do everything just to please you, just to make you happy, I sacrificed so much in one year. I have been trying to save this marriage for that long, and trying to keep hold of my sanity as well." Haruka sighed. "I guess there is nothing to save now. I'm signing that divorce paper now. This is what you always have wanted right?" Haruka swallowed hard trying to fight the tears that wanted to break free again. "At least if there is one person that will be happy about this, it'll be your mom."
"I'm trying to make us work too Haruka! Not just you! It takes two to tango. I married you even though my mother was against us, even when they disowned me! I stuck with you, because I love you." Yui said shouting her voice breaking.
"I guess you don't love me anymore Yui. You should sign the divorce papers as well just so we can get all of this over with. I'm sure your mom will welcome you back with open arms." Haruka said leaving Yui in their room.

When worlds collide again
6 years after their divorce…
“Haruka you got mail!” Her mother called entering their house.
“Who is it from?” Haruka said reaching for the frilly envelop that her mother handed over. “Hmmmm, so I’ve been invited to Suuchan and Karen’s wedding tomorrow… to be the pianist at the reception… Ugh.” Haruka said rolling her eyes at the invitation. “Why do they have to get me as the pianist when I could be enjoying that wedding reception with food in my mouth.”
Haruka’s mother just sighed. “If you keep complaining like that no one will marry you, and no I’m not going to bring up that no good ex-wife of your’s. If only you can revert your last name back to Shimazaki.”

She didn’t attend the wedding proper the next day because she over slept worrying about her dress, she just decided to wear her old wedding dress because its the only white (and decent) dress that she has and she was already running late. Arriving at the venue of the reception, she immediately sat down, ready to play the piano, she hasn’t played in such a long time, but hey she’s here so might as well play.
“Okay so what am I actually supposed to play…” She thought, looking over the sheet music, she mentally cursed the newlyweds “seriously, kinjirareta futari? That’s what Yu-- Okay moving on.” She practiced the song ignoring the lyrics.
Haruka kept her head down, occasionally grabbing a glass of that fancy champagne that the passing waiters carry.
“Haruka are you all set? It’s time for the first dance of the newlyweds.” Karen’s mother said to her.
She nodded. Playing the first notes, the melody felt easy she played this song all the time when they were still married, and then someone was introduced to sing but Haruka didn't quite catch the name, the singer's voice sent a familiar chill down her spine. “No it can’t be… Do I dare look at who’s singing?” Haruka thought as she kept playing and the other girl kept singing.
Finally, her curiosity got the best of her when she was nearing the chorus and looked at the singer. “Fucking hell.” she whispered to herself as she suddenly stopped playing and looked down at the piano keys to hide her face. The girl stopped singing, the couple on the dancefloor stopped dancing to see what’s wrong with them.
The girl approached Haruka to see what could be wrong. “Ano. Excuse me but is there something wrong?”
Then their eyes met, Yui’s eyes widened as she saw Haruka run for the nearest exit, “Just my luck.” Yui thought to herself. She flashed the audience a smile “Ahh. I’m going to check on the pianist. Excuse me.”
“Do you think it worked?” Karen whispered to her wife.
Suuchan laughed, “Paru won’t run like that if it didn’t work. This is going to be a lot of fun.”

She ran towards the parking lot trying to get to her car, but she was trembling. “ahhhhhhh, is this kind of a sick joke?” Haruka said to herself, “baka, baka, baka. I shouldn’t have taken up that offer.”
“Nice dress," Yui said noticing her ex's choice of clothing "I see you haven’t thrown it away.” Yui said as she approached her giving her ex-wife a smirk.
Haruka turned around so fast she almost got a whiplash, “You, why are you even here?! Wipe that smirk off your face before I wipe it for you.” Haruka said approaching Yui.
“I happened to be invited too. Is that the dress you always wear when going to a wedding?” Yui asked. “Best dress in your life, right?” Yui said branding a smug smile.
“You’re still egotistic I see.” Haruka raised her eyebrow.
“And you still dress badly.” Yui said going to her car to head home. “See you around Yokoyama Haruka.”

“Cheers!” Haruka said raising her glass and spilling her beer. “Its been too long since we went out.”
“Haruka you should stop drinking already. You already finished 6 bottles, we wanna go home.” Annin said.
“Don’t you have work tomorrow?” Abe Maria asked?
“Yes! Work, I have work you know.” Haruka slurred. “It took so much to get there of course I should go to work!” Haruka said as she began gulping down the rest of her beer.
Annin and AbeMa looked at each other, “We should really send her home.”
“Oy, don’t worry. I’ll just have one more glass and then we’ll leave okay? You can even escort me home.” Haruka said her voice slurred laughing to herself.
Annin shook her head.
“Hey waiter! Please give me one glass of the strongest thing you have here~ One glass that will knock me out in one shot.”
The waiter nodded and brought her a double shot of tequila, Haruka was about to drink when AbeMa stopped her, “What do you think you’re doing?”
“I know what I’m doing Maria. I got married when I was young and foolish, and basically everyone didn’t like it, and it ended up in flames after a year. People think I’m the crazy bitch that wrecked everything, but you don’t know half the truth.” Haruka said as she downed the tequila straight.
“Ahh! Miss that’s not how you drink that.” The waiter warned.
Too late, Haruka’s eyes rolled to the back of her head.
“Haruka! Oh my god. Call an ambulance!” Annin shouted at the waiter.

Drunken Fits
Sirens wailed and red lights flashed. A couple huddled in a corner of the ambulance watching as the paramedics attach cords to their friend.
"Oh god please wake her up." Annin said as she leaned next to AbeMa.
"27 years old, Yokoyama Haruka. Seizures and Alcohol poisoning." One paramedic informed.
"Right, how much did she drink?" The other asked the MariAnnin pair.
"About 7 bottles of beer and a double shot of hard liquor." AbeMa replied.
The paramedic only nodded, jotting down notes on his notebook, and picking up the phone to relay the information to the hospital.

Arriving at the hospital they rushed Haruka to the emergency room.
"Case?" The small blonde doctor asked.
"Alcohol poisoning Chief, she's already dehydrated, pulse is 56, oxygen saturation is low, her convulsions shortened in intervals.
"Okay got it, I'll take it from here. Bring her to room 1" The chief said while she wheeled in Haruka.
“Okay we need to transfer her, on the count of three. One, two, three lift.” The blonde doctor ordered.
“Please tell me she’s not going to die.” Annin pleaded.
“Nurse Kawaei please get them out of here.” the doctor said.
They opened Haruka's dress, a drip attached to her hand, hooking her up to the monitor.
“Come on, come on, stabilize, BP is 160 but oxygen saturation is still 90. Come on stabilize.” The chief chanted. “Oh shit, oxygen saturation is dropping to 80, get the bag ready,
what’s the oxygen?”
“Seven chief.” the head nurse replied.
“Ten for oxygen please, hurry up with the bag.” The resident said as the chief listened to Haruka’s breathing through her stethoscope. “No, it’s no use since she’s in resistor state, we need intubation.” the chief said hanging her stethoscope around her neck.
the resident doctor checked Haruka’s mouth, “We can’t intubate yet, there is still some acid left from her vomit.”
The chief put her hand to her hips, “She’s still holding it in.” she sighed.
Haruka mumbled incoherently, “I think she’s trying to say something.” said the resident.
“Consider her knocked out,” the chief said as the head nurse placed an oxygen mask on Haruka. “It’ll get messy if anything gets in. Intubation will prevent further complications like pneumonia and will generate faster healing. Prep her for intubation quickly.” The chief said as her and the nurses gathered around Haruka’s unconscious body.
Haruka’s body convulsed, as she unconsciously tilted her head to release the pent up acid.
“There’s something in her throat, I can’t clearly see her airway.” the chief said as she inspected Haruka’s throat.
“Saturation level has dropped significantly, no response to pain stimulation.” the nurse recited, handing over a pair of forceps.
“Chief we need to intubate now, we can’t wait any longer.” the resident said.
“Wait and be quiet.” the chief hushed.
“The oxygen level is now at 65, and capillary refill time has slowed as well.” the nurse recited again.
The chief was in full concentration on what she was trying to remove at Haruka’s throat.
“Chief we can’t wait longer, Nurse Sato please get ready.” the resident said.
“Oh oh, don’t move, I got it, I got it. Hold it steady now.” The chief said as she pulled out a small jagged shell. “Mussel shell?” the chief inspected as she dropped it in the pan. “Now give me the 10.5 tube quickly.” holding out her hand. “Just a little, come on, come on, come on. Yes got it I can see it. Okay now give me the bag.” she ordered
A series of short beeps was heard from the machine behind them. “Breathing is back.” The resident said as she pulled of the stethoscope from his ears.
“Oxygen saturation level is going up as well.” Nurse Sato read from the monitor.
“Good job everyone.” The chief congratulated.
“She almost got a nasty scar from a scalpel, thanks to you chief. Should I connect her to an IV?” the nurse said.
The chief hummed in response. “1 liter 30% glucose 300 CCs of ST3 if you must.”

“Chief wake up.” the resident said. “What time is it Kenji?” the chief groaned.
“Its already 3 AM chief.” Kenji said looking at his watch. “Sign here please.” he said as he gave the chief a clipboard.
She signed each page, “So the drunk lady in the weird dress?” She asked as she stretched her body from her seat.

Haruka was mumbling incoherently with the tube down her throat, she wasn't fully conscious yet.
“Hey miss are you awake?” The chief asked tapping Haruka’s face. “I’m going to pull out the tube in the count of three and you resume breathing on your own okay?” she said as she unstrapped the tube.
Haruka was still mumbling things.
“Okay, one, two, three.” the chief pulled out the tube and Haruka coughed.
The chief grabbed her light to check if Haruka was fully conscious until a hand smacked her in the face.
The nurses around Haruka’s bed gasped. No one, and they mean no one, conscious or unconscious has done that to the Chief.
“You’re an asshole. I hate you.” Haruka mumbled her words still slurry, then finally settling in to a gentle snore.
But the chief paid her no more attention, glaring at the now snickering nurses, she just touched her face where Haruka had just slapped her.

WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?!?
All interns were gathered in a small room for today, it was their first day after all. Yui rolled her eyes, she could’ve just accept that offer her uncle was giving her, they had a hospital. But her pride said other wise, also her mother did.
“Ugh.. Why did you even marry that wench in the first place?” Her mother would always ask, and Yui will always have the same generic reply. “I was foolish back then mother, now please can we not talk about that while eating.” Her mother will always give up but start the conversation again with “I just can’t see why you filed a divorce instead of an annulment. I mean you could have just said that she was insane and the court will believe that, I would make them believe, and you will be a free woman and have an invalid marriage to a crazy bitch, but no you filed and signed a divorce.” and her mother would just go on and on about how no one should know her daughter is a divorcee.
[A/N: Well basically Yui and Haruka got a divorce, which meant that they were legit married and decided to end their Marriage. Unlike what Yui's mother suggested an Annulment constitutes that the marriage is not valid, meaning there was no marriage that truly took place.]
“Yokoyama Yui! OY! Earth to Yui.” Her friend drawled. “Is your brain back on Earth now, Yes?”
Yui rolled her eyes, “What do you want Sayaka?”
“Did you see that cute nurse that just passed by us? Oh wait you didn’t because you were too busy in day dreaming. Seriously what is up with you?” Sayaka pouted.
Yui shook her head, her friend could be so childish sometimes. “Did you enter here and get your doctor’s coat just to hook up with nurses?”
“Jeez, I was just looking.” Sayaka groaned shoving her hands in her pockets.
“Oh hi! Are you girls here as well for the medical internship?” A long haired girl asked, like them she was wearing a blue scrub kip and a doctor’s coat. “I’m Watanabe Miyuki by the way nice to meet you.” Miyuki said as she held out her hand to Yui.
“Err, nice to meet you, this is Sayaka.” Yui said as she cocked her head to Sayaka’s direction.
Miyuki smiled, “Nice to meet you Sayaka, but can I call you Sayanee instead? I have a friend named Sayaka as well, it’ll be weird calling you that if she’s here with me.” Miyuki said.
Sayaka was just standing, not responding to anything Miyuki has said.
Yui let out a giggle. “Uh Miyuki is it? I think you broke my friend.”
Miyuki let out a giggle “So what team are you on?” she asked.
“Both of us are on team K.” Yui said showing the sticker that branded ‘Team K’
“Yay~ We’re on the same team! I’m glad I have friends already.” Miyuki smiled, clapping and clinging onto Yui’s arm.
“Team K? Hey we’re Team K too!” A woman to their left said. “Honey look, I found our team.” Motioning for another woman to come join Yui’s group.
“I told you not to call me honey while we’re in the hospital.” The other said, “Hello, My name is Takayangi Akane, but you can call me Churi. Its nice to meet you.”
“I’m Furukawa Airi, but she’s going to be Mrs. Furukawa soon because we’re getting married.” Airin said she put her arm around Churi. “Hey wait a minute, I know you.” Airin pointed at Yui.
Yui tilted her head. “Yea, We took the test here on the same day! You scored highest among all of us here. Honey this woman is a genius, we are going to be saved.” Airin said as she pinched Churi’s cheeks.

Yui was chosen to pick their month’s department assignments, she quickly plunged her hand in the box and grabbed a card.
“Pray.” She said to her teammates, slowly peeling off the sticker that covered their calendar.
January- ER February- ER March- ER April- General May- Ortho June- Pediatric Surgery July- Cosmetics August- Neuro September- Cardio October- ER
“You have got to be kidding me, Oh my God.” Miyuki said slumping in her seat.
“We’re doomed! Three months in the ER? We’ll go insane!” Sayaka said throwing her hands in the air.
Frustrated Yui threw the card, running her hand through her hair afterwards.

“You know I heard that the ER chief’s nickname is Satan.” Airi said looping her arms around Churi’s waist while they walked towards the Emergency room.
“Is that for real?” Sayaka said with her eyes wide and her mouth gaping a little.
Airi nodded, “Rumor says that she is so good that she can even bring people back from the dead, and disregards others opinions. The almighty Satan.”
Yui smirked, shoving her hands in to her pockets “This ER duty is so going to be annoying.”
“Interns hurry up. You don’t want the chief to arrive first.” Nurse Kawaei appeared at the other end of the hall motioning them to hurry up.
All of them broke into a run.
They were out of breath when they reached the Emergency Room, the chief no where in sight.
The tiny blonde chief came accompanied by the head nurse, “I am Sato Amina head ER nurse, I’d like to introduce you to chief Itano Tomomi, she will be the one to guide and oversee your progress within the course of your stay here in the ER.” nurse Amina said as she politely bowed and stepped aside.
Yui gulped, “This is the ER chief? She may look small, but she’s very intimidating.” she thought.
“Is this everyone in your team?” She yawned. “What team are you?”
“W-We’re the awesome Team K.” Airin said
“Well, whether you are the awesome Team K or the failure Team K, we will just have to wait and see.” The chief said.
“Failure?” Yui asked raising an eyebrow.
“Yes, failure. If one of you gets a failing mark, everyone gets it as well. Understood?
“Wait you can’t do that.” Sayaka voiced.
“Well as head nurse Sato has said I will be in charge of you during you stay here in the ER, what I say is law, truth and life, So if I want you to get out of my ER you will get out of my ER, understand?” Chief Tomomi said.
“Understood.” Chorused the interns
“Now there are two kinds of people in the world, however there are these so called ‘interns’ or as I like to call them Idiots

Her eyes fluttered open at the sound of a woman speaking. “Oh my God where am I. Shit I’m late for work. Baka, baka, baka.” She thought hitting her head after each word.
“Probably the most useless being in the world, floating idiotically, starved, and sleepless.” the chief continued
She grabbed her bag and inspected it, nothing seems to be missing, it has also registered to her now throbbing head that she was in a hospital, and a IV drip was attached to her hand, she checked her phone for the time, it might not be too late for her to get to her work.
9:24 AM her phone’s clock read, she screamed but nothing came out from her mouth, mentally cursing herself repeatedly.
She was about to yank her IV drip when she heard the woman speak again.
“There are only three things I hate most in the world. First, interns that are too humble to accept the praise they deserve. Two, interns who act and talk like they know everything. And lastly, interns who are late to doctor’s calls and has no concept of time and punctuality. Cross anyone of these and you’re surely die a painful and immediate death. Let me make myself loud and clear, in the ER you interns are not humans, you are the lowest class.”
Haruka’s ears were ringing “ER? Interns?” she whispered to herself.
“What is the lowest class? Ignorant and incompetent?” the chief asked.
“Interns….” they chorused.
“Louder.” the chief ordered. “An intern is what?”
“THE LOWEST CLASS!”
She yanked her IV drip in frustration, grabbing all her possession.
“Now I will be calling all the names of those of the lowest class.” the chief said grabbing the list that Amina has handed to her.
“Yamamoto Sayaka.”
“Hai!”
“Furukawa Airi.”
“Here!”
“Yokoyama Haruka.”
Yui’s eyes widened, was she hearing this right? “Why me?” she thought, “Please be a joke.” She chanted in her head.
“Yokoyama Haruka.” the chief repeated.
“Yokoyama Haruka? Me, Yokoyama Haruka?” she muttered to herself, she looked at the linen Akimoto Memorial Hospital University. She gasped in horror as it dawned on her.
“You’re not Yokoyama Haruka?” Chief Tomomi asked Akane.
“No, I’m Takayanagi Akane.” She said.
“Yokoyama Haruka, born 1994, graduated from Tokyo medical school?” the chief read her file.
Yui sighed, the God that she believed in was totally playing her right now.
“Why isn’t she here? Call Yokoyama and tell her never to come here again. She is late on a first day? What kind of stupid person will be late on a first day of work.” the chief said shaking her head.

She needs to save her act right now, she grabbed her things and braced for anything that could happen, she grasped the IV stand as she stood up but her legs were still like lead, she landed on the floor with a loud thud, “Shit” she cursed as she got up.
She emerged from the curtain that was separating her from the rest of her group. “Y--Yokoyama Haruka is here.”
Yui cannot believe her eyes, her mouth was agape, her legs turning to jelly. “Fate is so cruel.” she whined in her head.
The chief was wide eyed as well, how can’t she, this woman just slapped her when she was just trying to save her life, was going to be under her care.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” Haruka said as she bowed repeatedly. She stopped mid bow as something or rather someone has caught her eye, she felt like shouting and running the hell out of that place, but when their eyes met anger had swelled up in her greatly. “You…..” Haruka said through gritted teeth.

The aftermath
They were let free after her little fiasco with her head still reeling, she headed for the showers cause mainly she smells like puke, and also she wanted to calm her nerves down and only hot water will do that.
She let the water wash over her, she still couldn’t forget the look on her ex-wife’s face. “Why does she have to be here. Off all the places, why here?” Haruka hanged her head, she sighed. “We ended a marriage, how will we even work with each other without us sticking a scalpel at each other’s throats?” Haruka sighed again, she ran a hand through her head, grimacing on the thought.
She closed the shower, wrapping a towel around her hair and her body. She was surprised to see her teammate stripping as she exited the shower room and proceeded to her locker, opening her locker she saw her doctor’s coat, it took so much to get that coat, many sleepless nights reviewing, the amount of coffee that she had to drink, working in the day and studying at night, and now she has this beautiful doctor’s coat with her name stitched on it, she run her fingers over the stitches smiling to herself like the idiot she is, “Well shit.” She cursed to herself, remembering that she doesn’t have anything to wear, unless she wanted to wear that puke-stained dress that she calls clothes.
She hesitated for a while glancing over her teammate, “She looks like she has a lot of clothes to spare.” Haruka whispered to herself.
She turned around to face her teammate that was now combing her perfect hair.
“Ano, can I borrow a top for a while? I really didn’t come prepared.” Haruka said avoiding her teammate’s gaze.
“Sure.” She said, rummaging through her locker. “Let’s see, oh this blue top will really make your eyes pop.” she said as she handed over the blouse to Haruka.
“T--Thank you. Ahh, We haven’t formally introduced yet. I’m Yokoyama Haruka.” Haruka politely bowed.
“My name is Miyuki. Watanabe Miyuki.” Miyuki said flashing her an eye smile.

“Ahh, it’s a good thing that I found you Yokoyama-san.” Nurse Kawaei said. “The chief is looking for you, she told me to escort you to her office, when you’re done changing.”
“Er, okay.” Haruka said following the nurse to the Chief’s office.
It was just a short walk from the Doctor’s lounge to the Chief’s office, the nurse rapped on the door. “Chief, Yokoyama Haruka is here.” she said as she held the door for Haruka.
Haruka bowed, her hands trembling and her knees was already turning into jelly.
Chief Itano just eyed her from head to toe, twirling her pen in her fingers, with her chin in her hand. “Yokoyama Haruka, drunk and late on the first day.” she smirked. “Do you have any brain cells left in that head of yours? Did you know that you have work today?” she asked.
Haruka just nodded guiltily
“Oh you did?” Tomomi smirked. “And yet you go and get drunk a night before your first day as an intern, puke all kinds of food and alcohol on me, to top that off you even slapped me. You are incompetent, and sloppy. I rather have you out of my ER rather than humiliate me and the rest of your group further. Will you be able to carry that to your grave huh Yokoyama? Knowing that you ruined the dreams of other people? Just quit now, and spare them the humiliation.” she was standing now, eying the taller woman in front of her. “Why did you even want to become a doctor?”

She was still raving on and on how unfair and cruel fate can be, she was headed to the rooftop to unload her anger. She slammed the door shut, making sure that there was no one else with her.
She screamed as loud as she can. “WHY THE FUCK DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING TO ME?” she gripped the rails, her eyes looking for and answer in the sky but it remained as silent as ever and as cloudless as it can be, as if it was mocking her. She slapped her face, “Come on Yui wake up from your crack pot dream. You are dreaming, wake up, wake up.” she hit her face harder this time, “Fuck.” she cursed herself through gritted teeth. “I will do everything in my power to make her leave. And I mean that. YOU HEAR ME? I WILL DO EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING!” she shouted at the sky shaking her fist at it.
The sky let out a small rumble as if to laugh at her.
She went back to the ER looking for her teammates, and found all of them huddled in front of a door eavesdropping to a private conversation.
“Oy, what’s going on here?” She asked placing a hand on her hip.
“It looks like that baka woman will be fired.” Airi said.
“Yea, she’ll just endanger each of us in getting and F.” Sayanee pouted.
Yui just put her hands on her hips “If you guys have time to hang out here then you have time to memorize the ER manual. Go! Chop chop ladies.” Yui said shooing the group away.

“Well?” She asked raising an eyebrow. “You can’t tell me your answer? Then quit now, and get out of my ER.”
Haruka can’t stop her tears anymore, her legs gave out as she kneeled in front of the chief, letting her tears flow freely, “Chief, I know I made a huge mistake, please give me one more chance, I can’t quit now. It took so much for me to get here. It was so hard for me to pass that internship exam.” Haruka pleaded the chief looking her directly in the eye.
Tomomi just sighed, “People like you won’t have the guts to make it. Someone of your lineage has no right, no talent or attitude to become a doctor. Sure you took that entrance exam two-three times to get into a medical school, but you won’t last here. So better quit now, you’ll end up thanking me in the future, now get up and leave.”

When she cracked the door slightly open she wasn’t prepared to witness this, Haruka just kneeled in front of the chief and begged, and her ex-wife doesn’t beg. But to see her in tears, it softened Yui a bit.
She was still sobbing her eyes were already red and puffy from spilling tears, “Is it because I graduated from a no-name school? Or because I have bad grades?”
“What?” Tomomi tilted her head.
“I get that everyone here studied for six years while I just studied for four years, Do I really have no right, no talent and no attitude to become a doctor?” Haruka wiped her face free of tears.
“Ahh what I meant is... That’s not what I meant okay?” the chief said avoided looking at Haruka’s tear-stained face.
Haruka shook her head, “I thought that the school or grades didn’t matter here. I maybe stupid and slow, but I can definitely do it. I know I can, you only have to give me another chance.”
Yui shook her head and sighed as she closed the door. “Aish, why must I go soft on her? But she still has to go.”

“It would be hard from here you know.” Tomomi sighed.
“I know that it will be hard from here, and it will only get worse. It will be difficult for me, but I don’t care. I’m not giving up, I finally found my life, and I’m not losing it immediately.”
Tomomi sighed again.
“I passed the entrance exam for this hospital fair and square, so if you really want me to leave this hospital please go through the proper procedure to fire me. But I will take the entrance exam again and keep taking it until I get accepted again.” Haruka said choking back another sob.
Tomomi shook her head, “Get up.” but Haruka didn’t budge, “Aren’t you getting up?”
Haruka was slowly getting up, but the long time that she kneeled has numbed her legs. Haruka fell down dragging Tomomi’s pants.
“Oy, let go.” Tomomi said as she wrestled for Haruka to let go.
“I’m sorry.” Haruka said as she finally loosened her grip and stood properly with her legs that still wobbled.
The chief fixed her coat, “You know what we call stupid interns like you? A rock, and since you are a big idiot, you are one big rock, Get it?”
“Big rock.” Haruka repeated with a salty face.
“Hey, hey. Don’t make that face. From now on you’re rock salt. BIG ROCK SALT. Get on my nerves again and you’ll be gone here before you can even say Scalpel.”

“It was that moment when she threw up on chief Itano! I guess she drank so much that night. Don’t even start me on what she smells.” Nurse Kawaei recounted last nights incident. “And if it wasn’t for the chief she would have a hole in her neck now.”
All of the interns surrounding the nurse grimaced.
“And, after we saved her from death, when the chief checked on her again,” she clapped her hands “She slaps the chief in her sleep, mumbling that she hates the chief.”
Yui shook her head, this is so like her ex-wife. “She never changed. Not even one bit.” she thought.
Seeing her emerge from the Chief’s room, Sayaka let out a fake cough to alert her co-interns, “Ahh, look at the time.” She said as she and the others avoided Haruka, leaving Yui alone with her at the nurse’s station.
Haruka paid them no mind as she browsed through the ER manual.
Yui slowly approached her and stood behind her, “We need to talk.” Yui said through gritted teeth.
But Haruka just ignored her.
“Let’s talk you idiot, come on follow me.” Yui said tugging at Haruka’s coat sleeve.
Haruka faced her ex-wife with a blank face, “Just who are you exactly?” she said.

“Ugh. Let go of me.” Haruka protested but Yui’s grip on her arm is iron tight, dragging her into the empty stairwell.
Yui glanced around, making sure that they were the only ones there.
“Are you crazy?” Haruka said nursing her wrist.
“How can you be here?” Yui asked staring at Haruka.
“Well, let’s see, I passed the test you big dolt. You should’ve just stayed in the US instead of coming back here. And why does it have to be here huh, don’t you have some super fancy hospital?” Haruka said.
“How did you even get in here? Did you strip just to pass the test?” Yui said raising an eyebrow at her.
“What do you even mean by that?” Haruka asked offended with her ex-wife’s words.
“I mean that you don’t belong here, and you need to run along and just leave. That is what I am saying.” Yui spat her words, “I mean who would be crazy enough to trust you with a scalpel when you don’t even know how to use a knife properly? I know I won’t.” She chuckled, “Now please Haruka, quit now. For the sake of saving the people here.” Yui said faking a pleading look.
“You know what, I’ll become a great doctor,” Haruka said, “And you know what the best part is?” she asked. “You can watch me become a great doctor, while you just stay the jerk you really are.”

Why did Paru feel pain in her abdomen in the beginning of the story? Why can't Paru change her name back to Shimazaki? Can't you take back your maiden name after divorce? Are her friends trying to get her back together with Yui?
Did Yui cheat on Paru or was she telling the truth? She moved to the U.S.? But why did she come back then? I feel bad for not liking her already, but she really is a selfish jerk for everything she's done (especially for asking Paru to quit).
It looks like Paru's off to a great start... XD SHE ONLY TOOK FOUR YEARS OF STUDYING TO PASS THE EXAM?! Well that's truly something... She might not be much of an idiot after all...

The reason why Paru's abdomen hurts will be revealed in later chapters, Paru can't change her name back to Shimazaki cause what went down was a divorce, which is kinda like you get to keep the last name of your husband/wife unless you re-marry again, unlike annulment which pretty much makes your marriage crap meaning it never existed, that's why Yui's mom was ranting to Yui on why she filed a divorce. I hope I answered all of your questions OTL

ON WITH THE STORY
We all fail don't we?
Haruka’s eyes were burning into hers, when they received a message that their team was being paged in the emergency room.
They raced past everybody who was doing their own duty, Haruka stopped to observe the hustle and bustle of the ER, she smiled to herself, she never felt so alive.
Seeing the paramedics wheel in a patient, their team huddled up as nurse Sato announced the patient to be wheeled in to room 2.
Haruka looked so dumbstruck as Yui walked passed her to help transfer the patient on the bed, “Transfer on three. One, two, three.” the paramedic said as they lifted the patient.
As the hustle and bustle of Yui attaching cords to the unconscious patient for an ECG, “Someone draw blood and get it to the lab.” Resident Kenji said to the team.
All of them was looking at one another, but Haruka steeled her nerves and volunteered “I-I’ll do it.” She said walking to the tray of cotton pads and syringes, grabbing one of each.
She felt around for the artery, careful not to hit any veins, but she was having a hard time.
“What happened with this one.” Chief Itano asked putting on her stethoscope, listening to the breathing.
“He fell unconscious during his hike, luckily for him he sustained no bruises and injuries. but his blood pressure is barely 85 with a pulse rate of 96, and his breathing is 36, faster than normal.” Kenji repeated for the chief.
The chief hummed, “Any history of heart diseases?” she asked.
“None chief.” Kenji replied.
Haruka kept feeling around but its taking her too long and her neck is tingling, “That bastard is looking at me again.” She thought, but did not risk looking back at Yui she already knows she had a giant smirk plastered on her stupid face, so she just focused on finding the artery.
“How much saline has he had?” Itano asked looking at nurse Sato.
“2.5 liters and 13 of oxygen chief.” the nurse said.
Itano nodded and took of her stethoscope, looking at the interns “Well if it isn’t a field trip of lovely kids.” The chief said smiling, “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ALL STANDING THERE FOR? Furukawa, Takayangi, ask nurse Kawaei to accompany you to the pediatric area, Watanabe, Yamamoto you follow nurse Sato, Now!” Itano barked orders with both her hands on her hips.
“This is not good.” Haruka thought as she kept feeling around the patient’s arm, she made a mistake of looking up where she found Chief Itano glaring at her, when she felt the artery under her fingertips, she took of the cap to the syringe and inserted the needle, she carefully drew the blood just enough for some tests.
“Have him undergo cardiac enzyme test and a chest X-ray.” Itano ordered to Kenji
He nodded “Have you got the sample Yokoyama?” Kenji asked.
“Yes.” Yui and Haruka responded at the same time.
Kenji laughed “I forgot that both of you have the same last names.”
“Yeah. Well hurry up and get the test done both of you.” Itano said facing Yui.
“Me?” Yui said.
“Oh no, I was talking to myself. Yes you, don’t make me repeat myself again.” Itano said “Now, attach the foley.” She looked at Haruka and then back to Yui.

Waiting for the result was eating her away her time, being with this idiot for a year will drive her mad, and she can’t do anything about it. The hospital isn’t big enough for the both of them, and three months in this tiny hell hole called Emergency Room isn’t helping her.
She looked at her watch 11:18 AM, Yui sighed, looking at Haruka walking slowly towards her, when she made a mistake of looking to her right. “What the hell, you have got to be kidding me, she cannot see her here.” Yui quickly turned around and headed for Haruka and grabbed her arm.
“Hey I have to--” But she was cut off by her ex wife dragging her to a small broom closet. “WHAT THE HELL! What are you gonna do to me?!” Haruka said shielding her body with her arms, when Yui pressed her hands to her mouth.
Yui took a peep outside the door, and immediately closed the door..
“What is wrong with you?” Haruka asked “What if someone saw us?”
Yui shook her head, noticing that her coat was wet. “What is this?”
“If it isn’t obvious its urine, I was on my way to throw it out when you grabbed me out of no where and dragged me here.” Haruka said branding Yui the bag of urine in her hands.
When Yui’s phone rang. “Please just keep quiet.”
“What? Who is that anyways?” Haruka asked but found Yui’s finger on her lips again.
“Hai, mama?” Yui said placing her cellphone in between her ear and shoulder, peeking out the door. “Weren’t we supposed to go meet each other later this evening? Why are you at the hospital?” Yui asked.
“How did you know I was at the hospital?” Kaoru Yokoyama asked.
“Uh, well. I-I saw you when I passed by.” Yui said laughing nervously.
“Oh you did? I stopped walking, I’m near the elevator. Do you want me to come to here you are?”
“Ahh! No no no. It’s okay mama. I’m kinda busy right now so I’ll call you later.” Yui said before she hanged up.
Haruka kept sending death glares to her ex wife, “Oy, Yokoyama Yui, what on Earth are you doing right now?”
“Can’t you tell? I’m wiping pee off my coat that you spilled on me.” Yui retorted.
Haruka chuckled, placing her hand on her hip, “Now why do I have to avoid your mother again? This is the place where I work.”
“All the more reason to avoid her then. You are here in my workplace, you are stuck here like a piece of lettuce in between teeth. Do you think my mom will keep quiet about this if she finds out? You of all people should know better about my mom.” Yui said closing in some of the gap between her and Haruka.
“Did you just call me a vegetable?” Haruka said in disbelief.
“At least a lettuce has some use. Now while I'm being nice to you, get this; do not get in my way or in the way of my future, do not cause trouble and just get out.” Yui said closing in on Haruka completely trapping her. “It’s better than getting discovered by mom, be humiliated and kicked out, isn’t it?”
Haruka’s hands were shaking, her face as red as a tomato because of anger swelling greatly inside her as she poured over the contents of the bag in her hands on Yokoyama Yui’s face.
“Ahhhh.” Yui exclaimed wiping urine off her eyes, “Are you crazy?!”
“Why do I have to suffer all of this because of your mother? What relationship do we even have? I’m not secretly dating you! You and I are complete strangers no, no connections whatsoever!” Haruka said gritting her teeth.
“Strangers? Okay, if we are strangers THEN GET OUT OF HERE!” Yui shouted at Haruka. “Don’t be a bother to other people and just quit now!” Yui shouted before she left the broom closet, slamming the door in her wake.

It was the third time she has washed her face now and the smell of urine isn’t fading. “She threw pee at this gorgeous face, I was her wife once! How can that idiot do this to me. I feel the need to slap her silly! Aish.” Yui said gripping the sink tightly.
Her phone vibrated against her thigh signaling that someone was calling her, “What now?” She rolled her eyes on the offending thing before picking up the call, “Hello?”
“Yui, where are you now my daughter?” her mother asked.
“Why do you keep calling?” Yui whined
“Well it’s your first day so I should at least met up with the hospital director, he’s a good friend of your uncle you know.”
“Mom I need to go!” Yui said.
“Oh fine, stay calm when you are busy. You sound stressed, and don’t forget about that blind date I set up for you.” her mother reminded.
“Yeah, yeah. Bye.” Yui shook her head.

“What is taking those two idiots so long?” She said putting her hands on her hips again.
When Haruka entered room 2 again. “Did you talk to the guardian?” She asked.
“Yes chief, she said that he hasn’t had any surgery for the past year, and hasn’t been in any accidents, and no long distance trips either.” Haruka recounted what the patient’s wife told her.
Kenji sighed, “He showed inverted T waves in the ECG, it could be a heart problem chief.”
Itano shook her head. “His breathing isn’t getting any better, so I’m not ruling out Pulmonary Embolism for now. Where is the blood test?”
“Here chief.” Yui entered the room panting, her face wet.
“What happened to you?” the chief asked.
“Uh. I was getting a bit sleepy waiting for the result so I washed my face to rid of it.” Yui said glancing at Haruka.
“What the hell did you do to make you sleepy?” Itano said looking at the result that Yui handed over.
“Aish, its a result for a venous blood test.” Kenji said scratching his head.
“I am going to have a heart attack with this.” Itano sighed “Yokoyama Yui, did you even check to see if this is correct?!”
“N-No chief.. I was in a hurry so I didn’t check.” Yui hanged her head.
“But you have the time to wash your face?! Get yourself together!” The chief shouted hitting Yui’s head with the envelop. “Yokoyama Haruka,” the chief said pointing at Haruka “WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DRAW?” she shouted crumpling the paper and throwing it at Haruka’s direction.
“Its not an excuse that it’s your first day as an intern, you should know at least know the difference between drawing blood from veins and arteries!”
Haruka was close to tears. “I-I’m sorry, I’ll do it again.” she said moving towards the tray of syringes.
“Forget about it, you’ve done enough.” Itano sighed. “Yokoyama Yui you do it, and do it fast.”
“Yes chief.” Yui replied pushing haruka aside to get the syringe.
“Did you leave your brain somewhere? How dare you call yourself an intern, if you can’t even draw the right kind of blood.” the chief said staring directly at Haruka’s eyes.

It was finally lunch, well her lunch time because everyone on her team was on lunch, she walked towards the cafeteria with her hand in her coat pockets.
“Oy Yui! Over here.” She heard Sayaka call across the crowded cafeteria.
Yui sat down hard when she reached the table, rubbing her temples.
“What happened? I saw you hand over the blood again.” Sayaka asked putting an arm around Yui’s shoulder.
“What do you think happened? She drew venous blood, and so I had to re-draw the arterial blood, and have my ass chewed by the chief.” Yui said shaking her head. “Good thing there was no further issue.”
Everyone at the table sighed.
“Seriously that ponkotsu, she made a scene on the first day and now this.” Airi said.
“Mouu honey, I’m afraid for our internship.” Akane said clinging on to Airi. “How can we even work as a team with someone like her? Oh honey now I’m really afraid.”
Airi just held her fiance tight. “I’m scared too. Yui senpai what should we do?”
Sayaka stroked her chin. “Well the way i see it, there are only two options. One, the ponkotsu gets her shit together and does well for the sake of the whole team. Two, the ponkotsu gets her shit together and quit.”
Airi groaned, “I hope she gets her shit together and quit already.”
Yui slammed her palm on the table, getting her team’s attention. “I am not just gonna sit back here and wait for her to come to her senses. I’ll make her quit.”
When Sayaka nudged her pointing at Haruka who just entered the cafeteria. “We believe in you Yui. Fighting!”

Haruka was hungry and she can’t think when she’s this hungry, her eyes stung because of the tears earlier and the chief’s hurtful words, no matter it was for her personal growth anyways.
When Yui bumped into her. “How can you even eat in this kind of situation.” Yui said in a hushed tone.
Haruka rolled her eyes.
“My ass got chewed by the chief because of you, how many things do you need to ruin before you come to your senses and just quit.” Yui said facing Haruka.
“Stop it.” Haruka said with a blank face.
“Stop what? Find something else now.” Yui said cutting in front of Haruka.
“Yui~” Miyuki called approaching Yui.
“Ah, Miyuki. Are you gonna eat now?” Yui asked as she moved blocking Haruka’s way.
“Yeah. I did a simple suture job today so I as a bit late for lunch.” Miyuki said.
“Oh wow, a suture on the first day?” Yui said feigning disbelief.
“Un, Dr. Umeda Ayaka helped me out, so I was in good hands.” Miyuki smiled.
“Still a suture on the first day, impressive. Oh wait you can cut before me.” Yui said pulling a giggling Miyuki in front of her, she glanced at Haruka and sighed, “Fine ladies first.” Yui said as she pushed Haruka in front of her.
Miyuki turned around to face Haruka with a serious expression. “Nee, if you’re going to stay with us in the ER please make sure you do your job correctly. Nurses here have been talking about you a lot, and I just can’t stand someone talking behind someone’s back. I hate bullying, plus our team can’t take fault because of you. And if you mess up one more time our whole team could fail and lose everything we have worked for.” Miyuki crossed her arms, “I mean how could you not bring any clothes for your first day of work?”
“Oh so that’s where she got that stylish top. Tch, she was never fashionable but she was still very cute in her outfits before.” Yui thought as she peeked at Haruka’s top, but chastised herself for thinking about her ex-wife in that way, I mean they are already each other’s ex-wife.
Haruka sighed from embarrassment covering herself with her coat “I--I have a good reason for that.” she replied rubbing her temples. “And don’t worry Watanabe-san. I will be strictly professional so that all of us can pass.”
The line was going slow and the silence between them in unnerving.
Finally they get to the buffet table, Miyuki got all the veggies that she could fit in her plate, “Ahh, I see Miyuki-san is a vegetarian!” Yui exclaimed ‘accidentally nudging’ Haruka.
“Yup, I pity animals being slaughtered to I tend to eat veggies only. Is Yui a vegetarian too?” Miyuki asked before she completely left the line.
“Yeah I am.” Yui said filling up her plate with some vegetables.
Haruka shook her head as she filled her plate with meat, and a lot of it. “Tch. Vegetarian my ass.” she mumbled loud enough for her ex-wife to hear.
“I’m sorry?” Yui stopped behind her.
“Vegetarian my ass, you’re one to talk for someone who can finish two orders of pork belly at 3 in the morning.” Haruka spat as she walked away from a confused Yui.

Poor Paruru, it sucks to be in a team but having no one to turn to for help... to make things worse Yui is going to do who knows what to make her quit... :(
Fight for it, Paruru! It's only your first day! Prove that you're better than your teammates, study harder, when your teammates are cruel be as unfazed as salt. Stand out and you'll definitely catch Tomochin's eye (in more than one way)... ;)
I hope the team realizes that trying to force Paruru to quit will only make their results worse.

“Team K? Hey we’re Team K too!” A woman to their left said. “Honey look, I found our team.” Motioning for another woman to come join Yui’s group.
“I told you not to call me honey while we’re in the hospital.” The other said, “Hello, My name is Takayangi Akane, but you can call me Churi. Its nice to meet you.”
“I’m Furukawa Airi, but she’s going to be Mrs. Furukawa soon because we’re getting married.” Airin said she put her arm around Churi. “Hey wait a minute, I know you.” Airin pointed at Yui.
Yui tilted her head. “Yea, We took the test here on the same day! You scored highest among all of us here. Honey this woman is a genius, we are going to be saved.” Airin said as she pinched Churi’s cheeks.
Well, my FuruYanagi feels are really high right now, especially when I saw this earlier... And they're engaged here <3 :heart:

A long night comes to an end
She finished her lunch immediately and headed to the Chief’s office right away, maybe the Chief will she her way and kick out Haruka. Yui silently prayed for that.
She knocked on the door and peeked her head in, “A chief? May I have a word with you?”
Tomomi looked up from the book she was browsing, “What’s it about Yokoyama?”
“I just uh… Well we… I mean…” Yui began as she entered the room.
“Spit it out.” Tomomi said closing the book and shoving it back to the bookshelf.
“Well, we want you to transfer Yokoyama Haruka to another department.” Yui said averting the Chief’s gaze.
“So let me get this straight. You, are asking me to transfer Yokoyama Haruka to another department?” Tomomi repeated placing a hand on her chin.
“Err.. Yes chief.” Yui nodded.
The chief chuckled, “Look here Yokoyama, unless I say that she leaves, she stays. And who are you to tell me what to do huh?”
“Ano, I just thought of--” Yui said but the chief cut her off.
“Don’t, I will be the one to judge. You’re own the same boat with her so it’s up to you to sink or swim.” Tomomi said turning her back on Yui.
“Then transfer me to another department at least chief.” Yui said.
“May I know the reason why?” Tomomi looked at her quizzically, “Is it because of Yokoyama? Perhaps you two dated in the past?”
Yui averted her gaze.
“You did?” Tomomi leaned on the shelf with a smirk on her face.
“No! No no no. Why would I got out with such a stupid girl like her!” Yui shook her head. “It’s just that everything I worked hard for might get ruined if I get stuck with her.”
“Well look here Yokoyama Yui, the first thing you learn here is teamwork. You pass with them, you fail with them. There is nothing you can do in this world alone. Now get out of my office.” Tomomi cocked her head to the door.
“Chief hear me out, Haruka, I mean Yokoyama Haruka. She’s dangerous! She’s like a walking time bomb. She’s uncoordinated and out of focus!” Yui pleaded.
“Well the I suggest you stick by her side and teach her the ropes. Now back to your station.” Tomomi said sitting back on her chair.

At last, it was time for them to head home for the day. A lot has happened for today.
“FINALLY, FREEDOM!” Airi shouted as her breath steamed from the cold.
“Idiot, you do know that it was only the first day right?” Sayaka said.
“I know! But, to be free of the chief, the smell of formalin, and most importantly to be sleeping in the same bed with this pretty woman right here.” She said pulling Akane closer to her.
Sayaka shook her head, “Love birds.”
“Oy, oy, oy knock it off, PDA again.” Yui said playfully.
“Jealous?” Sayaka asked with a smirk.
“I’m a free lady, I don’t do relationships.” She replied pulling her coat closer to her.
“You’re celibate?” Miyuki asked.
Yui chuckled, “No, not to that extent but I don’t want my career to get ruined by lovey dovey things.”
Haruka emerged from the entrance and all of them paused, she bowed a goodbye as they did the same.
“I know my taste in women!” Yui half shouted making sure that her ex-wife heard her clearly.
“Well, Miyuki is my type~” Sayaka said squeezing in between Yui and Milky. “Mind if I walk you home? Where do you live by the way?”
“I live near the hospital.” Miyuki said with her eye smile.
“Ahh, then hop into my car Miyuki-san, I’ll give you a ride home.” Yui said before Haruka was out of earshot.

She was cold, and alone. Her legs ached, and felt like they were on fire. A long blissful sleep is what she needs.
She opened the door to her house, and the noise of women laughing greeted her.
“Mom?!” She said in surprise.
“Oh my baby!” Her mother exclaimed dragging her to the living room where she saw her mother’s friends drinking and having a very rowdy party.
She greeted each of her ‘aunties’. “Look at her all grown up!” one of them said, “when we get sick we won’t need to go to the hospital! We’ll just come here and checked by Haruka!” said another and cheers went up in the room.
“Where did you go last night?” her mother asked, “You went to a wedding then didn’t come home. Did you get to go to work?”
Haruka nodded
“Well my daughter is tired from being a great doctor today so please excuse her.” her mom announces as she pushes Haruka to the stairs.

Haruka sighed as she closed the door to her room and closed her eyes, listening to the happy chatter of the party down stairs.
She placed her things on the foot of her bed, flopping down on her bed, she let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding.
“Tomorrow is a better day.” She said to herself, when she realized that she was wearing that stinky dress of her again and needed to shower.

Happy New Year! It's been a while, hasn't it?
I can't help but laugh myself into stitches at Yui's meeting with Chief Itano (Tomochin is having none of this transfer nonsense lol). She definitely notices more than we realize... From her "advice" to Yui to her interaction with her trainee staff, Tomochin honestly gives me an interesting vibe as a character (i.e. she acts all tough love and strict, but it's probably because she means well).
I was going to ask if they let people who are/have been in relationships work together in the hospital, but I answered myself by rereading (I'm also pretty sure you could mention it to HR if things took a turn for the worse).
I'm still wondering what Yui's mother might do if she finds out Paru works there (I mean, the hospital isn't hers to run so she can't really fire Paruru)... NOT THAT I WANT TO FIND OUT ANYTIME SOON.
My heart seriously goes out to Paru, she must have one hell of a commute and after that hell of a day she had... However, tomorrow is a new day and so I wish the best to our salty girl (I'm still very Team Paru biased at the moment lol). If she can't make friends with her team at the moment, maybe she can with other staff... or private lessons with the chief herself... ;)

Actually I have a lot to say after reading these chapters of yours so far.
I can't believe how this story is unfolding one by one. Each chapter just makes me want to punch nearly every person (especially Yui) in the face. And that's saying something because I'm a huge YuiParu shipper. This is the first time I started hating Yui to this extent. And the way that all the others, Akane, Airi, Sayanee and Milky treat her, really??!!!!!
Also the way Tomochin acts!!!!! I'm literally in awe.
I just can't believe how much of a jerk Yui is. She will regret that at some point. If only they could both have a chance to settle down and talk it out.

Since there was a mention of Akimoto, are you referring to Yasushi or Sayaka who is the head of the Hospital?
I was expectung this to be a happy fanfic but no!!! You made it into to a dramatic one (nearly the same as rosask45's story Untilted) but in a more cruel way where no one seems to care much about Paruru. But knowing Paruru, she'll survive somehow.
I'm slowly hating how this is gonna develop but I do hope once this whole story is finish, it will be a good one.
Also can I request characters if possible.
Is it possible for Akimoto Sayaka, Miyazawa Sae, Oshima Yuko, Masuda Yuka, to appear as doctors as well? Since you already mentioned Ume-chan.
And who is Milky's friend that she said had the name as Sayanee?
