A 16-year-old girl who flew to the Middle East to see a man she met on MySpace.com was detained in Jordan and was headed home Friday, an FBI spokesman said. (http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/06/09/myspace.runaway.ap/)

Certainly brave of her to fly to the other side of the world to meet some random fellow she met online.
Smart though? No. Not at all. NON :lol:

She's 16...according to the article he's supposed to be 25. Does the phrase "child bride" come to anyone else's mind? The girl is stupidly naive if she thought she was just going there and he just wanted to hang out.

What an interesting and wierd story ^^;
MySpace seems to me a place full of emo angst and teeny boppers.

the internet is a dangerous place...

Yeah, this is just creepy.
Nothing wrong with meeting someone online mind you, but a 16 year old flying to Jordan to met a 25 year old man is just messed.
(Plus, come on. She's 16! What is his problem?)

Dateline's tech reporting is pretty sad though. Pretty much just hype or fear-mongering.
That doesn't mean that they don't have an audience though.

maybe that girl was in love with thats guy so she traveled

That's not the point, nor does it really matter. Read the article. You'll see that she snuck off to go on this "trip" (meaning her parents did not know about the trip). Also, there's the whole age thing, the fact that she's 16 and he is 25, AND the fact that he lives in a muslim country. Not to badmouth all muslims of course, but a 16 year old white girl with a 25 year old muslim guy...if you don't know what the deal is here you're really naive.
