The exclamation mark is a sign that it's going to be a pretty fast paced song I think.

According to Ayaya, the song is done already, and it has a Showa-Era feel. So we can expect a song with an oldie style, like W's cover songs. However, being it a H!P song, you can never be sure at all on how will it sound like! Can't wait!! Any guesses?

I'm thinking something reminiscent of the duo groups like Pink Lady, but a little faster paced. I wonder how they'll do. Both are somewhat known by the mainstream, and a partnership like this would be somewhat intriguing een to outsiders :o

I think it was pretty evident they were going for a Pink Lady feel as soon as the first pictures were released, as I stated in my post in the GAM thread. I hope the choreography will be Pink Lady inspired as well. UFO anyone?

Matsuura Aya no ANN 06-07-19
- Japan is very rainy these days, but Aya doesn’t mind that much, since she doesn’t go out anyway :D (although the high humidity can’t be avoided).
- Aya was told that she looks cool and composed today by the radio staff (the shock that she doesn’t usually look that way, paired with this rainy weather makes Aya's performance on today's show questionable :D).
- Aya took a look back at emails from listeners, which contained suggestions about what she should do on ANN after her birthday. She picked the idea of performing a live song right in the studio (for the first time since she’s been on the radio :o). She even had a piano and a pianist come in (the same one who performed on her last live DVD). The song is “Suna wo Kamu you ni Namida” (Aya is pretty embarrassed, and has to talk a lot before she calms down :o). After the song, she says the atmosphere was different, so she was sweating a bit (even though she is an idol :D), and there were some mistakes in the lyrics as well (:o). The listeners liked it though, so it’s possible that Aya will sing on the radio again. Aya asks the listeners for ideas, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be her own songs – recently, she’s been into idol singers from the 70s and 80s. (:o)
- Next week, Aya will play GAM’s new single on ANN (this will be its first airing, so don’t miss it :o).

I REALLY like it! The style of the song is basically my favorite style, sooo yes! Miki totally owns the song! If I didn't know better, I would've thought it was a Miki solo :lol: Either way, they still sound awesome together! Debating whether to get this single or not now :lol:

Isn't this the song that's supposed to be the theme song for Sukeban Deka? If so, it serves its purpose well - it sounds like a theme song to a 70s TV show.
Overall, it's catchy, and I like the way the bass line moves the song foward. I'm not too fond of the numerous repetitions with just a slight pitch change, but I think the song will grow on me.

It sounds exactly what I imagined it would sound like: a fast, rockish retro song. While it's not as good as I expected it's still easily the best H!P single of the year (that doesn't mean much tho lol).

The last part is the best in my opinion, but otherwise this is too rockish for my taste. It is not really bad, but when compared to last the special group of last year (DEF. DIVA and Suki Sugite) it kinda sucks in my taste... xD

Shinkirou ROMANCE is a really beautiful acoustic song. I like it too. "Thanks" looks better with hot mini skirts and lots of leg shuffling on TV. Can't wait for the lives and PV!

But in comparison I can tell that Shinkirou ROMANCE portrays a higher singing skill than Thanks!, you can tell how well Mikitty and Ayaya sing by listening to Shinkirou ROMANACE.

No one has mentioned the arranger yet! It's Nishida Masashi, who also arranged Yokohama shinkirou.
EDIT: Nishida is part of EARTHSHAKER, a heavy metal band that's been around since the mid-80s and is currently signed to zetima.

Considering the Producer was Daichi and the Arranger was Nishida, Thanks pretty much sounds exactly as I thought it would. Showa-style lyrics and vocals with a pop-metal arrangement. I like the song so far, and I think Ayaya being drowned out by the guitar is a result of the low bitrate due to the radio broadcast. With a 128 or 320 rip her voice will have much more presence. I agree that Shinkirou Romance is a better song, but it wouldn't really be suitable as the Sukeban Theme. Overall I think this is the strongest H!P release this year, and it strikes my fancy much more than Sukisugite did. The biggest problem with Thanks is that it lacks a great hook to tie everything together. Even so, it's a very solid release. I'm definitely looking forward to a PV with a Pink Lady style choreography, something like Wanted would go very well with Thanks.

I can't exactly see Ayaya beating people up with Yoyo's to "Thanks!" but I can see "Shinkirou ROMANSU" being played during a sad part of the movie. Can't wait for the PV~

I'm a big fan of Matsuura! Fujimoto on the other hand.. Well, I don't dislike her but I don't like her either.
GAM's new single sounds great! I rather like both songs.. But Thanks! is more appealing in a way..

Both songs aren't bad, but not as good as I expected it would be. I'm thinking I'll like them alot better in a higher quality.
In my first listen, I have to say that Thanks catches my attention alot more than Shinkirou. But I think that's because it's more upbeat. It really sucks that Aya is getting drowned out from the crappy quality since from what I can tell, the two of them sound great together. The bass in Thanks is also a little too prominent for my tastes. The overall arrangement is pretty nice but it gets a little repetative.
Shinkirou ROMANCE is a nice song. It would make a perfect ED imo
Still can't wait for the PV to finally show up

it's a waste they didn't harmonize, esp. in thanks! . However, the arrangement sounds nice though. As for Shinkirou, it's kinda boring the first listen. Slow rock songs are dragging too much, and the vocals have too much echo...

GAM is 3rd today. GOOD! Considering the Weekly Sales for the past week (http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/js/w/), they're moving on good sands, and could reach 25~30K. I also have the feeling this will be one of those singles that will go up as soon as people realises what it is, like that Final Fantasy Koda Kumi single. When the movie premieres on 09/30, more people will notice the song, so I also think it'll be for a long time on charts.

Sukeban Deka is not on cinemas yet, so I think they can sell longer thanks to the movie attachment once people notices it.

When I was in Japan last week. There were so much promotions for the movie. YOu walk around Akihabara, so much shop handing out Sukebandeka Tissues with a nice picture on the front * Me and my mom took alot of them haha*

The regular rankings poster on 2ch expects about 17th place for GAM with about 5000 sold this week.
The reason for the raises in the dailies is the continuing stream of Sukeban/GAM events, he says.
Which leads me to think that a v-u-den release is deliberatedly placed long after the GAM release and Sukeban premiere, as not to interfere with those.

It doesn't look like there's a first press for GAM's Thanks!.. :o
I *FINALLY* purchased my copy of Thanks! from CD Japan, and for some reason it has it listed as a First Press... But there wasn't any mention of what bonus extras come with it, which I found pretty strange, so now I'm confused! XD LOL Is there or isn't there a First Press for Thanks! ? And if there is, what bonus extra comes with it?
