This special unit was formed to sing the Japanese theme for the National Girls Volleyball team.

国境超えた！山Ｐ新ユニット結成
山下智久（２１）を中心とするジャニーズ事務所の新ユニットが結成される。ユニット名は「ｋｉｔｔｙ Ｇ ＹＭ」。タイの人気アイドルＧＯＬＦ（１９）とＭＩＫＥ（１６）が参加して、国境を超えたグループになる。
ユニット名のＧＹＭはＧＯＬＦ、山下、ＭＩＫＥの頭文字。スポーツ施設などを意味する「ｇｙｍ（ジム）」 とかけた。「ｋｉｔｔｙ」には子供も含め、世代を超えて親しんでもらいたいとの意味が込められ ている。
山下はこれまでも「ＮＥＷＳ」「修二と彰」、ソロと、さまざまな形態で活動。国境を超えた新ユニットに「日本やタイはもちろん、他のアジアの人々にも僕らのことを知ってもらえればうれしい」とコメント。「グローバルに活動していきたいので、これがきっかけになれば」と海外進出も視野に入れている。
山下ら３人に、今後選ばれるジャニーズＪｒのメンバー４人が加わり、計７人で編成。フジテレビが放送する「２００６ワールドグランプリ女子バレーボール大会」（８月１８日～９月１０日）のスペシャルサポーターを務めるため、期間限定で活動する。大会イメージソングを日本語で歌唱するほか、会場に登場して大会を盛り上 げる予定。
ＧＯＬＦとＭＩＫＥはバンコク出身の兄弟で、現地では昨年１１月に「ＧＯＬＦ＆ＭＩＫＥ」としてデビュー。ジャニーズＪｒのタイ版「Ｇ―Ｊｕｎｉｏｒ」として活動し、日本でもＮＥＷＳの公演に参加したことがある。ＧＯＬＦは「以前、山下君と交換した携帯ストラップを大切に持っています。日本のファンにまた会えるのも楽しみです。音楽に国境はありません」と抱負。ＭＩＫＥは「日本でもアーティストとしての人生が始まると思 うとドキドキします」と話している。
≪タイでも“ジャニーズ”活動≫「タッキー＆翼」「ＫＡＴ―ＴＵＮ」らジャニーズの所属タレントは、５年ほど前からタイの音楽祭に積極的に出演したり、現地公演も行ってきた。０２年７月には「Ｇ―Ｊｕｎｉｏｒ」が誕生。ＧＯＬＦとＭＩＫＥは第１期生で、現在も約３０人のメンバーが在籍している。マネジメントは、日本ではジャニーズ事務所が行い、現地では同事務所と友好関係にあるタイ最大手の芸能プロダクション「グラミー」が担当。２人は、フジテレビのイベント「お台場冒険王」に連動して東京・台場の「ホテル グランパシフィック メリディアン」で行われる「ジャニーズＪｒの大冒険」への出演も決まっている。

According to Yamapi's blog he had an interview yesterday with Gold and Mike. Also, this past weekend, or was it the weekend before? I'm not sure. But within the last week or so they recorded the Kity GYM ShounenClub performance and it's supposed to air in September. So I'm assuming it will be a Septmeber or so release.

hmm... I can't help but feel a tad disappointed with the lineup for this group. I can think of several more Juniors whom I personally feel would be more deserving of a place in this group. Then again, that's just how I feel. I might in all probably change my tune again when the song comes out coz hey! Johnnys + Yamap sells ANYTHING! ^o^

Ahh, just watched the news clip now. Yeah, the kitty part of kittyGYM has suspiciously vanished altogether. XD Oh well. Guess it was taking away from the YamaP-worshipping. :sweatdrop:
In the clip, Golf&Mike's dancing seemed a little.. messy. I was a bit disappointed in that. Also, YamaP is still being given the ugliest costumes ever! XD

They're from Thailand. Part of the Thai Johnnys. Like someone had touched on at another board, they speak great english, terrible japanese. :P

Also, the Kitty is back in kittyGYM, and to add to the confusion, Totsuka is shown in the video, which means he is still part of kitty. However, other reports have said Tomita. My guess is that they swap in and out depending on the performance and that they make up the two T's of kitty.

According to the official Johnny's Entertainment site, Hokago Blues will be a YamaP solo, and Run for your love will only feature Golf&Mike.
Also, the site is referring to the group as just GYM, as well. They like to make a hassle!

Btw, anybody else thing that Golf & Mike looked especially cute in the PV preview, but in that clip of the live on SC they just looked So-so? Oh the wonders of CGI and good Editing!

So... I'm confused. In the performance, the signs on the screen only said GYM and it seemed like it really was only Golf + YamaP + Mike... Also in the interview, only those 3 were interviewed. Is Kitty GYM a subunit of GYM? Or is it that Kitty GYM doesnt exist now and it's only GYM?
As for comments on the perf, YamaPi looked like he was the only one who could dance well and with energy. The other guys were just totally limp when dancing. The one in the left more than the one in the right lol... But physically, they fit really well into Johnny's.

On a commercial for the volleyball team, they featured the song and all seven members of kittyGYM, and flashed the name "kittyGYM". So I'm guessing they just say GYM and feature the three core members when they have interviews. That one performance seems.. to be the odd one out.

Actually, the mere name of the group sums it up perfectly.
kittyGYM : No prizes for guessing why 'Y' is not only capitalised but also in bigger font than 'G' and 'M' and why the "negligible members" are all in small letters... >_<

It's short, and towards the end there's nothing but a bunch of Volleyball clips, but the bit of the PV at the beginning and the song are great. It's so damn catchy! xD And the boys are so cute.

Mike's got a chubbier face due to him being younger. And Golf well... doesn't xD Mike also has more feminine/delicate eyes, while Golf's are all I AM MAN.
I thought that they were twins at first though, but now it's not too hard to pick them apart.

I must say though, that the more magazine scans I see of Mike, the cuter he gets. And he speaks english! :heart: Golf owns that black and white shot though, and YamaP looks really... old. :(

@ Suki: if you look at the pictures, they usually put them in order. So it's Golf, YamaP :inlove:, and then Mike :heart: (L to R) xD If that'll help you distinguish them for now. Though they've got their names everywhere in huge flamboyant letters so... err... yeah ^^;
And G&M speak english because they were raised in Australia and then they moved to Thailand (?) and started their careers.

In a twist of fate that shocked even me, GYM's single fell to No. 2 on the Oricon daily charts, beaten out by the Kaoru Amane single from the popular dorama Taiyo no Uta. Whether GYM will rise to No. 1 on the daily charts again or not will have to be seen.
Meanwhile, TOKIO's Sorafune/do!do!do! has risen from No. 4 back up to No. 3 on the Oricon daily charts despite already being on it's second week of release.

hmm... Somehow I'm not really very surprised. GYM, even with Yamap, seems to be the weakest unit to come out of Johnnys in recent times... >_<

I don't think they will... GYM sold about 226k and that shows that no one cares a shit about Golf and Mike. It was just like a Yamapi single minus the Kurosagi factor plus two boring guys who most likely made people not buy instead of making them buy. Okay, maybe the song wasn't as good as Daite Senorita which was part of it too but...

I think I heard that they were gonna work with JE again after their 2nd album is out. There must be something about them that Johnny-san likes. :/
I just saw their family (dad, 2 older bors and their lil sis) on tv. I'm not a fan of them but their family was super cute.

I think Golf & Mike probably should just have some kind of intensive training in JE lol... They sing well, but really lack charisma. And Mike can't dance. So yeah, they should be trained in idol-ness by Johnny~

I would like to have a listen of stuff that they released in Thailand. Watch and see what it is that they do. That would probably be the best way to see why Kitagawa likes them. I'm currently of the same mindset with Fuyumi in that G&M are kinda unremarkable and that the group sold what they did due to Yamap's popularity coz the single on the whole was:ONgyaaah:... >_<

Their stuff is not bad at all I think. Chatin showed me a lot of their thai singles and PVs and they were quite nice. I'll try to find some of them and post them here.
It was interesting to see them covering some T&T songs ^o^

I like their slow songs, not so much their more hip-hop-ish (or whatever they are) ones. These PVs are so cute.

Anyway, they're pretty boys, can sing, Golf can dance, and they already have their own fanbase in their country. I don't see why it's so hard to conceive for ppl that Johnny would want this kind of collaboration with them. He gets to sell a lot in Japan AND Thailand. If he got to sell a LOT, he could've made them release more stuff for profits, and if not, he just called them a one-shot special unit and forget it. No losses either way. In any case, he wins over new fans from Thailand. :ONbigdeal:
