NEW YORK (Reuters) - Diamonds are no longer a girl's best friend, according to a new U.S. study that found three of four women would prefer a new plasma TV to a diamond necklace. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060802/od_nm/life_technology1_dc;_ylt=AtbNae.Y4zW.yMdTFs_I4H3tiBIF;_ylu=X3oDMTA2Z2szazkxBHNlYwN0bQ--)
Who needs diamonds?! I prefer a plasma tv, too.XD

A plasma tv will break down but a diamond doesn't? :P
-> Old-fashioned girl. XD
-
Yeah. A diamond is worth what it's worth for what is represents, not what it costs.
If I propose to a girl and she wants a plasma screen TV instead, I'm going to wonder about her.
-
which one is cheaper XD

I would think that the diamonds would make you feel more... glam? I guess? I dunno. But damn, I'd rather have a weekend vacation in Florida than laze around the house... What were those people thinking?! You can tell how lazy the world is becoming by that article, too

Nothing says love like a lump of carbon mined by wage slaves in Angola.
-
i guess most people are just becoming too materialistic and forgetting the idea and history behind the diamond as being this highly sought after gem that people get married with..
-
which one is cheaper XD
Cynic!! XD
But really. The institution of marriage now is very much different from what it was years ago. I just look at the number of divorces that I do each week, the number of enquiries on divorce proceedings which I have to answer and cringe. >_<
-
Yeah it's the same here.
I'm too much of a romantic at heart to do family law...

diamonds can be burned and will shatter... they're not quite forever anyway.

And here I thought we had a scoop on DNF D:

i don't think the survey can be trusted anyway. don't women always say they want one thing but actually want something else. they may say they want a plasma tv, but i bet in a romantic setting and the guy pops out a diamond ring/necklace her eyes will be sparkling like :baa60776:
-
How abouta woman who'd approve to sell her diamonds when they're gotten more valuable to buy a plasma tv/car/computer/whatever when there's a need for it? That'd be great.
-
I've never cared about jewellery or diamonds
-
Yeah. It's kind of a split. I don't want a girl who's really materialistic and into wanting a lot of jewelery. I do want a chance to be old fashioned and romantic though.
Sigh.
