The East Japan Railway Company (JR-East), as part of research aimed at developing more environmentally friendly train stations, is testing an experimental system that produces electricity as people pass through ticket gates. JR claims that this sort of human-powered electricity generation system may provide a portion of the electricity consumed at train stations in the future. (http://www.orgismo.com/?p=1218)

^ there was an article somewhere about a test in Brittain where people walking by produce electricy because they 'shake the ground', should be enough to power streetlights?

I suppose you have a reason to be proud if you're over-weight then? Then the ground shakes more, and you produce more electricity.

There are so many clean ways to produce energy but they don't produce enough. If we use a combination of all of them it may solve part of the pollution problem but it will take many years and a brave government..

That's why till today, the majority still uses fossil fuel for generating electricity.

Does not AMD develop a notebook for the third world with a crank handle on it? it was like 5 minutes cranking for 20 minutes energy. I am curious how this will work out in the end ...

stupid governments always rely on quick fix solution when they should invest in wind or wave energy.. australia had a vote recently on whether we should try nuclear energy.. think the result was "no"

Computers don't use that much electric I don't think. Ovens.. fridges and freezers.. those are the reasons the penguins are dying.
