Title: Favorite dance/choreography
Post by: Flyp on May 11, 2005, 01:17:05 AM
So, there's all these "Favorite PV/favorite member/favorite song" threads that there was one aspect of H!P that I don't think gets covered and thats the dance moves that are associated with the song.

Whether it's The Manpower's hip-thrusting, Honey Pie's teeth brushing, Kacchoize's boob squishing, Morning Coffee's arm swaying, the dances play a big role in how we remember a song.

So, what's your favorite dance routines from Hello!Project?  Which ones do you like to dance in your chair at home, or in public if you're not ashamed of your obsession?

Mine would have to be:
Morning Musume - Go Girl! Koi no Victory: This has got to be the best ever :P  When this song comes on my mp3 player when I'm walking down the street it takes everything in me to not start dancing right there xD

Minimoni - ai~n dance no uta:  A~IIIIN!  thats all that needs to be said

Odoru11 - Shiawase Kyouryuu Ondo: Anyone who's seen Ayaka's English Lesson's knows this one xD

So GO!

Renai Revolution 21.  Especially the break-down.  I don't enjoy the choreography quite as much in concerts, though.. perhaps because I only enjoyed seeing the girls in those hot outfits in the PV peforming the song. XD

Mine favorite little thing has to be the marching and saluting at the beginning of The Peace.  Looks awesome in concert as well.  I also enjoy whatever the hell it is they do in Happy Summer Wedding, especially the "hai hai" finger gestures.

I think that from judging them simply by watching live perfs and those dance practice clips, my faves have got to be Mr Moonlight (for the dual pinwheels at the end), and The Peace for the corny ending.  And of course, The ManPower for the air-humping.  So many more, but I'll stick with these for now.

I was pretty impressed with Osaka no Koi no Uta, actually.

There were a few dances that Maki and MK performed that I liked a lot.  But I'm lazy and don't remember now.

OK, my favorites, in no particular order...
- Mr. Moonlight ... ok, this one's first cause I do love it most.
- Be All Right!  ... seriously, this one's way too cute.  Partly cause of the video being in space...
- The Peace!  ... this one's also because of that choreography training video that's gone around.  It was just kind of neat.
- Dancing! Natsu Matsuri ... Boomshaka.  That alone...
- Koko ni Iruzee! ... Maybe it's because I like ska, but this song and dance are just too special for words.  <3

I have to say that my least  favorite is probably Maki's Afurechau Be In Love choreography.  I love the song, but it's really not a very exceptional dance...

Morning musume

Osaka Koi no Uta-- Dark, an improved Manpower.... many things happening at once, but more in tune with the music. different types of movement

Roman my Dear boy-- the hand movements...  very cool. some Matsuura choreography is like that too.. also the eighties interlude in which they act like sliding doors

RR 21
this is classic MM...

The Peace
...as is this

As For One Day
Not bad... nice rhythm, accents

Shabondama
This would be good if the girls were alll good dancers... or if they all were in the zone... but that's not really the case. often they end up looking like those dogs with springs for necks.

Namida Tomaranai Houkago
deserves special mention, not for the choreography, but simply because Ai T. is honestly brilliant in the dance. I far prefer lives with the Ecomoni-included singing quartet because that means Takahashi will dance!

with all the lineup changes, does that mean that Ai T's dancing partner is Eri for Namida Tomaranai Houkago? Hope so... top dancing duo, that! (although I love Kaori's dancing too)

Osaka Koi no Uta - I can't really think of why, but I just like watching it.
Robo Kiss - The "suki, suki,..." part is still kinda weird to me for some reason,  but I really like the "Shabara ran ran..." part.
Koi no Vacance - Another one that I just really like to watch.
Koi no Fuuga - I like the mic switching and when they're dancing back to back.

Roman ~My Dear Boy~ is one of the best MM choreography I like the most, the fast pase dance and singing made the combo!
Iroppoi Jirettai - umm..... the chorus and the intrumental dance parts.

hahaha.... just for fun Chokkan 1/2??? (quite ok dance for a matsuri)

what else... Love Machine with old school MM, Happy Summer Wedding done in recent H!P concert (i.e. with the new MM).

Do it! Now! Is my all time favorite, because I like how the members run over past the center to do their lines before going to the other side of the line and anything along the lines of that. Thought it was a good way to arrange all the singing people and whatnot xD

Manpower is my second favorite because, like Do it! Now! , I like how the arrangement goes so that it fits whoever's about to sing next and whatnot. And the thrusting = win.

Actually, I like all choreography xD Fun and easy to do xD (Yes, I know most of the choreography for H!P songs)

I'm surprised at the number of people citing Renai Revolution 21, The Manpower, and Love Machine, as good MM dances.  RR21 is a dance only in the sense that the Macarena is a "dance":  There's a lot of arm movement, some upper body movement, a bit of simple side-to-side hip-shaking; but VERY LITTLE leg or foot movement.  And when they do move their feet, its a simple side step and back.  The Manpower is a bit better.  There's enough foot movement to call it a dance, but its actually among the simpler MM dances.  Love Machine is in a category all itself.  It also has very little foot movement, but the other movements they are making are so comical and fit so well with the song, its a visual delight anyway.

The Peace is by far the best MM dance.  As you can see in this dance practice video, in which the camera never moves and you can see their entire bodies the whole time, the Peace is much more complicated and has a wider variety of steps and movement.  (I notice, though, that the choreography is designed so that the weaker dancers don't attempt the harder, quicker, steps. )  Rika is the "star" of the dance (she's the one in all yellow) and deservedly so.  She's great in this dance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTI3Lqg0tRo&NR

The best H!P dancing I've ever seen is in the Tampopo song "Oujisama to Yuki no Yoru" with the line-up of Mari, Kago, Rika, and Kaori.  Kaori is a bit tentative and "small" in her movements but the other three are great. Here's a dance practice video that shows every move of all four of them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r4E9PESl90

The best dancers ever in MM are Rika, Mari, and Kago, in that order.  If I had to pick a number 4, I'd pick Hitomi Yoshizawa, but admittedly  she's significantly behind Kago in her abilities.  (Admittedly, also, I haven't looked carefully at the dancing of the post-4th-generation musume. )

Irropoi for the complicatedness and sexiness and hotness and bla bla bla....

In short irropoi FTW :D

The best dancer, Takahashi. This girl gives her all and she's good in dancing. When you put hardwork + talent together you get Ai chan. I would have chosen Miki if she gives her 100% in all performances. I just like the way she dance, the aura. And then you have Eri who performs certain dance routine very well.

For H!P as a whole it's Jireri Kiteru. Miyabi is hands down amazing in that video and I really like how the choreography uses the girls as an entire unit in the breakdown instrumental portion in the middle and two distinct halves during the chorus. There's this sense of urgency, grace, and power throughout the PV and it just blows my mind how young Berryz still are.

For MoMusu I like Roman's dance a lot. It's simple but very cool and stylish. The para-para parts in this song aren't over done and the song itself is legitimate music and non-gimmicky. Mr. Moonlight would probably be my second pick just because of the amount of style and awesomeness that Yossie exudes when performing it. I like the energy in Shabondama but the movements there really lack direction and any sense of crispness. The Peace! is also enjoyable.

I think the reason so many people like dances like those is because they're more memorable than complicated. RR21 has those characteristic arm swings, and I can remember seeing a fair bit of TV hosts and such busting out the RR21 moves. It easy, fun, and the move itself just gets stuck in your head. XD I don't think anyone will forget the Manpower's hip-thrusts, and like you said, Love Machine is a visual delight, and just a fun song in general. They're really defined dances, and despite their simplicity, when I think of MM dances, these typically are the first ones to come to mind. :D

don't hurt me but...

mine would be Shabondama

so it's, not really a dance, more like, Momusu on Ecstacy or something (points to disturbing Odore!M.Curry perf.) ... haha.. but hey... i choose it because it fits the song. something which is not usually seen..

for berryz, i choose Munasuka of course, funky leg -mini- jumps, and well choreographed sequences, and need I say it? gei move.

notable one would also be Roman ~mdb~, and THE MANPOWAA!!!

Iroppoi is the best choreography. I think others are only movements, not really dances. Anyway, I think Osaka Koi no Uta is okay too.

I agree Takahashi is the best dancer. However what makes Takahashi good at dancing is her ballet technique. Take me as an example, I have learned ballet since I was five. Right now I am able to catch up many types of dances quickly because of all the ballet techniques I've learnt. It's the same as Takahashi probably. I think she is not particularly talented in dancing. When there's a dance improvisation section in concerts (like Purple Wind), Takahashi usually does all the ballet-related moves but not the other types of dances. She applies what she has learnt and does it beautifully. But she lacks natural talent, or maybe creativity? Sometimes it is bored to see her doing the similar moves all the time.

It is quite supervisal to say which member has the talent. But for me, I think Eri, Mari, Rika have the talents. However hardwork can help. We cannot just rely on talent isn't it? Takahashi's really hardworking on this. Also Risa, Miki, Nono, Yossi, Reina, Sayu and of course Kaori (although she's not good at body coordination)!

Do it! Now - My personal fav ;)
Ikimasshoi(the original dance) - :yep:
Renai Revolution 21 - Because it's the only one that tempted me to actually learn it. :sweatdrop:
Kiiroi Osora de Boom - Because it looked like they were going to die trying to learn it.
THE MANPOWER! - lots of stuff going on.

Ai-n! Dance no Uta - Only when it's with Shimura Ken standing there and Mini Moni running circles arround him. XD
Jiriri Kiteru - Because after being hypnotized watching the dance I was told to like it.
Special Generation - ^ forced to like this one too
Uwasa No Sexy Guy -

Like a Game(the original dance) - Because of the amazing dance interlude. :o
Uchuu de La Ta Ta - It's nothing special, but I love how Miho does flips and shit across the stage. :o

Personally.  I really loved "Iroppoi Jirettai".  Sexy, Hot, and *OMFG* It's Flamenco. *dies* So it's my favorite out of all the MM pvs.

I also happen to like Go Girl, The Manpower (for obvious reasons. ahaha XD), and Ambitious!.

Out of non-MM pv's;  Nacchi's "The Stress" was awesome, It makes me want to dance with it everytime winamp plays it. v-u-den's "Aisucream to My Purin" is great too.. XD

Well, in terms of difficulty, I would rank Do it Now as the most complicated MM dance.  Also a lot of people have forgotten about Mini Moni's Crazy About You dance.  I think that one is one of the most complicated dances in H!P history (if not the most complicated.)

However, my favorite dance that I never get sick of is The Peace.

Best dancers in H!P: Takahashi, Rika, Inaba Atsuko, Maki, Mari and the little Berryz Koubou leader (can't remember all the Berry'z names yet!)
