There will be three different versions of the single. Limited edition A includes a bonus DVD and has catalog number EPCE-5433~4. It will cost 1,680 yen (tax included). Limited edition B comes in a special package with a 36 pages photo booklet and will have catalog number EPCE-5435 and costs 1,260 yen (tax included). The regular edition has catalog number EPCE-5436 and costs 1,050 yen (tax included). The first press of this edition will have a photo card included.

Ugh, I really do hope they'll record a single as 8nin Morning Musume. As I've mentioned in other threads I'd really like a single from that line-up. Morning Musume hasn't been down to 8 members since Love Machine was released (as far as I can remember, anyway), perhaps the number will spark up something in Tsunku's brain and he'll churn out something absolutely amazing that we've all been waiting for for a while. Ehm. Yes *hopes* xD;;

What style would you like for this one?
IJ, Chokkan, SB and Ambitious is enough upbeatness for me. Not because I don't want more fast tempo, because I do want it, but because those four singles sound like the same one. If they have to make the fifth coming of IJ, please make a ballad instead. At least, IJ has the Spanish feel like HSW has the Arabic feel. Why can't they find another "feel"? It's not all about bass... Well, what I said, if they can't find, better make a ballad or a mid-tempo, just to make it sound different from the previous ones. November, Winter, cold weather... good time to make a mid-tempo song around the chimney :rolleyes:

I'm hoping for a good song. Sort of agreeing with Shaoran that we've had enough upbeat tracks lately, but then again.. I never get enough of upbeat tracks so hm. I would like something dorky/fun, though. Either that or something Indigo Blue Love-ish. I've recently fallen head over heals in love with that song, so.. mhm. XD;

I want something fun and hip-pop. Something a-la Mihimaru GT or M-flo loves would be good! I don't think 8th gen will be present for this release, and I actually hope they aren't XD Although, I don't forsee them doing anything hip-pop for awhile :/
I actually don't think they'll do a ballad either. BUT! I hope they do have some harmonies in this song. They're all strong vocalists. Yossi, Risa, or Miki I think would be best for lower harmonies, with Ai, Reina, and Eri taking on the higher notes. And really anyone can do the basic main harmony. And then Sayumi and Koharu could um.... Do their little sounds that make the song fun like "YAY~" or whatever XD
Also! Hopefully they'll each get more screen time like they did when they split into the gumi's a few years back.
Or maybe it'll be a double a-side with a nice upbeat song and one as a ballad? Then that could be the reason for the two limited. Johnny's does that sometimes. Look at Tokio. They Had limited for "Do do do" and one for "Sorafune" and then the regular. OH! I hope that's what it is :D It'd be exciting, and MM has never really had a double a-side have they?

Yes, it's read kakuhen. Abbreviation of 確率変動 kakuritsu hendou (change of probabilities), which is a pachinko term. What it means is when you get a certain bonus, the chances of getting a big win are significantly improved (their probabilities are raised).

Maybe I'm wrong, but 8th gen will not enter the group until next year at least, that's why among the requisites there's one that says the candidates should be less than 21 years old by april 2007 so I doubt that there will be any 8th gen on this single, and minialbum? where?

HOLY SHIT! The beginning Morning Curry is like a mix of Densha Futari/Dekiru Onna/Hustle, but once they start singing it's like pure craziness! I LOVE it! I swear to god I keep hearing Mako, though :lol: It should be a really fun song to hear as well as see~ :o

On new listens, Aruiteru has some feel of なんにも言わずに I LOVE YOU yeah, but it differs from I LOVE YOU that wins. Morning Curry pwns. I finally have my new crazy song ala Koi no Dance Site. Russia! Hei! Ha! Hei! Ha! How come this is not the a-side? xD
Overall, one single where the b-side pwns a-side (not usually happens in MM). A-side is a fair song. I might be getting this one if DVD is worth it. Too bad it's not a double a-side so Morning Curry would get time on tv. Anyway both songs are kind of Old Tsunku is back.

Aruiteru is Zzzzz. It's not Nanimo Iwazu ni for me. Nanimo Iwazu ni is a touching song that can make me cry, this song can only make me yawn. Hopefully, a better quality version of it will be able to change my mind.
Curry is better, but it ain't that good to me.

i am liking Aruiteru! it's no Nanimo Iwazuni I LOVE YOU definitely (Nanimo pwns totally!), but it's still a lovely song. it's something that MM hasn't done in a long time for a single... it's like a version of Dekkai + Ai Araba. not a boring slow ballad, but an upbeat one that sounds cheerful.
Morning Curry is a typical MM fun song i guess. the singing sounds weird, but i shall judge when there's a better preview.
i am loving Ai + Miki in Aruiteru!!!!!

Yasu and Shaoran THANKS for sharing these new Momusu songs.
I prefer Aruiteru...but I have always been partial to happy ballad types of songs. I can't quite remember the name of the North American song....but this reminds me of something from the 80's or 90's....anyway it is good...a little repetitive at then end (last 30 seconds) of the song but overall I like it.
Morning Curry is what it is. A fun song with lots of energy. Something that will be a fan favorite at concerts.

I really love Morning Curry <3 Aruiteru is okay, it's just very..normal. xD It's nothing special, but Morning Curry is. ;> I love Gaki's and Yossi's strong voices there. 8nin isn't so bad~

Morning curry has a nice accordeon tune, reminds me of gypsy music.
Aruiteru is a bit repetitive. I don't like the way tsunku just has 'shalalala' in 1/3 of the lyrics. kinda uninspiring, like the instr. arrangement. The arranger could have done so much more with a mediocre melody.

Its Crazy :lol: I wanna see how they Dance to it must be pretty Crazy too.(maybe something like the Barynya Dance XD It reminds me a bit of Ikimashoi. But Aruiteru is nothing really special... its just another Song imho.

That's exactly what drew me to Morning Curry.It's very energetic,just like Ikimashoi(which I also happen to love).Aruiteru isn't that bad,but it makes me depressed.When it comes to Hello! Project I can't bear to listen to sad/slow songs,it makes me want to slit my wrists.

I feel I'm iffy with Aruiteru, it's one of the songs that makes me want to cry or something. It'll be interesting to see what they do for the PV because a 'dance shot type' video like they've been doing recently will be rather dull with it.
And like everyone else Morning Curry is love. I can't wait for the single for better quality and I'd love to see a dance for this too.

In terms of the costume, I think it would have looked much better overall if the red tops were all just tube tops (like Reina's and Eri's) instead of tank tops and all the other variation on there. Yossi's just looks quite bad, in my opinion. It's bordering on looking cheap, unlike the other girl's. It could have done without the huge silver belt too.
Did anyone else think "Spiderman" when they first saw the costumes? Haha. At first glance, it looks like something a skanky Peter Parker would wear to save the day.
I don't know whether to like or hate Risa's hair :confused: Reina's hair is cute, but yeah, I just wish she had more variety with it again instead of pigtails again. Sayumi's hair is the best in my opinion <3 The rest have styles we've seen many times already, blah.

Thanks Fracture for the new rip! Aruiteru is still saying nothing to me. It ends and I don't even notice it. I'm like "oh it's over? wth... must listen again" and I listen again but it's impossible, I totally disconnect. Totally. I think both Aruiteru and Morning Curry fit old Tsunku's composition style to be found on 4th Ikimasshoi and No5. That's fine! And that's why at first I was positive on Aruiteru, thinking it would grow on me, but instead, it went down. Two good album songs being a single. That's the turn-off. These songs pwn Rainbow7 but I don't feel them for a Single CD. I guess I was too positive because of the excitement of having new songs. From now on, I will comment songs some days after listening to a rip. This way I won't overreact. On the other hand I second that if the DVD is worth (Make it a good pv, a live performance, interviews or something like it) I might give my money on it.

I personally don't like the covers that much. I like the sky background, but everything else just looks like it usually does... The limited A looks pretty bad though, like it's too crowded and they just bunched their pics together. The best cover is probably the single V because it looks more organized I guess. Sorta reminds me of the beginning to the Osaka Koi no Uta PV. But it's missing the moon which I think what makes the other covers nice.
I just listened to the song. Sounds like an album song... and not a very good one, maybe I'll like it more from a better quality rip. The few solo lines are pretty nice though, well Miki's and Ai's anyways >_>. I think they need nicer harmonies <_< and less nananana's. I guess it sorta makes a nice sing along song. I have a feeling I'm not gonna like the PV, but they might pull a Namida ga with this one and give it an awesome PV...

As much as I favor the Normal Edition cover, I'm at least glad that the photobook one I'm getting is almost as nice. Not too fond of the +DVD versions because they're so smushed together.

'Aruiteru' is sort of a poor man's version of 'Ai Araba' but I still think it's quite an enjoyable ballad. And the outfits form the Mezameshi performane are so damn cute.

In terms of the a-side, I don't hate it, persay. I actually think it's pretty good (one of the few that do, I guess. lol) and it's kind of catchy, I mean, it's been stuck in my head for the past few days. And I grew to like it after hearing better versions, as I predicted. My opinion on that it sounds like a theme to an anime series hasn't changed though XD
It's definitely a 'lazy' song though, I just have a feeling they didn't put too much effort into this single (not the girl's performance, the song itself).
Their 'marching band' costumes though....err, haha. I honestly don't know whether to hate them, or think they're cute.

After seeing the performance I dislike the song even more than when I heard the radio rip (didn't think it was possible).
It's entirely too repetitive and it doesn't hold my attention for very long. I would've liked to have seen Morning Curry as the A side, especially since I feel like they're wasting their "8-nin" status on feel good repetitive songs. I hope that they can release one more single with 8 people, and I hope it's more energetic.

i don't know if i said it before...i didn't really like the song at first when i listend the concert rip...and i said to myself that i would probably like it more if there is a good PV...they made it ! Finally some non-studio-shooting PV ! it's been a long time ! i think i only like it because it was shoot outside... Koharu looks absolutely adorable! I wish the performance costumes were normal clothes like this. I hate what Miki and Yossie are wearing though, and Yossie spinning around in a field somehow seems so, so wrong to me. XD
Overall, it's a simple but really cute PV. It's a great example of how you can still make a great PV even if you have a small budget, and it's a hell of a lot more entertaining to watch than a dance shot in a white room in white dresses.
Though it does seem like more work could have been put into the song (wtf is na na na?!) I like the "we're all in this together" feeling of it, which is reminiscent of I Wish and other MM classics.
Making this the A-side is a better commercial decision IMO because the "normal" buying public isn't typically drawn to wacky songs like Morning Curry like the fanbase is, so casual buyers will be more likely to pick it up. In any case, there's nothing for us fans to complain about because we're still getting MC in the single anyway. So what if it's not the A-side?

The PV may have been done outdoors this time, an outdoor video doesn't automatically mean more money was spent on this compared to some of their stupid videos.
I like it's simplicity, but after a while it starts to border on 'boring', almost. There are also peaks of interest, such as one minute you're really into the video then at another point you feel like it's blah. Thankfully, Takahashi saves the video from being a complete bore for me :heart:
As for the song itself, like I said, it's got a really catchy tune that easily gets stuck in one's head for hours or even days. But I still feel they could have done more for the song (the "Nanana" part still seems to irk me) and the video. The b-side is definitely and still is much better.

I'm not mad at all. :) Yes I've heard it.. I actually played it for a guitar recital when I was younger. I never liked the Beatles much though, I've always felt most of their songs were overrated. That's pretty good song as it has a nice melody -I didn't like the arrangement first as I felt it's too simple. I wanted more guitars but maybe that's good for the song. It lasts too long and there's too much nananana but otherwise I like it.

the song itself isn't all that bad....it's a nice happy melody and the campfire helps the "happy" feeling as well. it's nice to have a change from the UBER happiness and fast pace from the more recent songs (ie. Ambitious, Sexy Boy, etc.)

I see your point, but I think it's safe to assume that a big percentage of that Japanese audience are tired of hearing the same encouraging words like "You're not alone", "Don't give up" etc. ;) Tsunku usually isn't this generic, where'd his crazy talk go?

What is the new single/song like?
K: People seem to take "walking" for granted.But if you listen to the song, read & think about the lyrics, you will realise and understand that "walking" is a very important part of our lives.
Y: Yea, although its unlike our usual upbeat songs, this song has a very strong meaning/message behind it. Even during live performances, we can feel that the fans feel very comfortable listening and enjoying it.
K: We also sing and dance this song with a soothing feel. The PV for this song was shot in a ranch and it was a fun experience.
Y: Yea, we have never shot a PV like this in a natural environment, so you'll see alot of happy images of us.
Question 2 for Miki (M) & Ai-chan (A)
How do you like people to praise you?
M: For me, i would love to have a partner that accepts me as i am so "Hmm you are good" will be nice.
A: I'm not very good at chatting so "Oh you are quite good at conversations" would be good. I'm always being reminded by the staffs and management to remember to speak more during radio shows and music variety programs.
M: Hmm, i think those words are said to take off the pressure off you, don't you think so?
A: Hmm, maybe its that way. Right now i think doing the radio show with sanma-san will help to train my conversation skills.

K: There's always some everyday !! even e-mailing friends lifts your spirits up.*cant explain properly the next 2 lines* Although words like "Do your best" are not said directly to you, encouraging words from families and friends make you happy.
S: I like to be encouraged with the words "It's all right" because unlike "Do your best" it doesn't put any pressure on you. On the first day of concerts, members often encourage each other with "It's all right" when they feel nervous before stepping onto the stage (laughs).

Question 4 for Gaki-san (G) & Reina (R)
Any luxurious activities recently?
R: Recently, i have alot!! I ate shark's fins for the first time and it felt like "spring rain". (I think to indicate that it was a rare occassion because it rarely rains in spring) It tasted so delicious that it surprised me.
G: Hmm, didnt we ate shark's fin on one of the variety program before, and it tasted nice.
R: And i ate "some gyoza", it had shark's fin wrapped within it. It felt so good.
G: That sounds delicious. Recently when i went to a restaurant with Ai-chan, they had 6 types of dessert and since Ai-chan wanted to try all, we ordered everything. We ate everything up while mentioning "isnt this luxurious" to each other.

My feelings on Aruiteru changed so much again that I don't even want to make a full explanation. Now I don't like it, that's all xD Morning Curry wins but it would be better without the eurobeat-ization of the background to make it faster. Said that, this single is far from deserving the #1 they will get because of the low competition. I hope they saving the good material for the 8th gen.

I'm disappointed in the studio version of Morning Curry. The vocals are pretty lame, and like Shaoran said, the eurobeat BGM is not so appreciated. The live version is much superior.

Sorry, you're right, maybe I misunderstood what you said. So let me get this straight: you have a product, and your product was #1 for a while, then it fell back for some time, and all of a sudden, it's back again at #1, but it's not big news enough to put ON YOUR SITE ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT, because you used to be in that spot before, am I correct? :D
I'm just saying this because we should really try to express ourselves in a way that does not lead others to think we're stating something else. I know it's not big enough news to make it to the national press, but I think they are allowed to put it on their site, that's all. And even if this lasts only a few days or hours, it is still something MM should be proud of after all the low rankings lately. :D

Haha~~ Don't worry ;) In short terms, if I would be the chief of their communication team, and for what I have studied, I wouldn't agree to put it on the official site together with the other news. Of course this point of view would change depending on who would you ask.
Back to the single, it's good that, despite Aruiteru comes out on the mini-album, just one month from now, people gets the single. I don't remember names, but other artits didn't sell much singles because the album with it came out just in few weeks. I guess the average customer wants to save money for the album. So that's a merit for Aruiteru. And Morning Curry. Good singles make a dragging effect in benefit of the albums. I hope it's the case!

I totally agree on that, those artists(though most might not be too familiar with them) are pretty high profile...shit...they're way up there. Momusu deserves praise for this #1.

Well, I really, really hope you are right. But to answer the question, with the way things have been for H!P recently, I think it's natural to be skeptical of something like this (up to a point). I don't think of it as "putting down MM", because I know they can release great songs. Rather I question the willingness of the mainstream to accept them. Let's face it, they don't have a very positive image in Japan right now. If this is the first step towards a resurrection of their popularity, I'm all for it :D But we'll see.

No from what I've heard Fracture is right. MM is as uncool in Japan as Britney is in England. This is what I've heard from a lot of people posting from Japan.
They do need to increase their 'coolness' popularity and it looks like this song is definately doing that. If it was only mowotas, wouldn't it be selling at about the same rankings as the previous singles???

I agree, but being not so popular as before, and having a negative image (and that's what I got from Fracture's post) are two different things.
And there is a difference between being "uncool" as Blu-Cherri put it, and being "not so popular as before". They don't have a positive image, it's not just a lack of popularity. Many people think of MM as a group that appeals mainly to perverts and associate all fans with the hardcore wota crowd. An unfair stereotype, but that doesn't change the fact that it exists.
I'm only taking issue with the statement that being surprised about the single's success is the same as "putting MM down." It's undrstandable that people are surprised by this. There is a reason that their recent releases haven't sold well, and I would like to see them break the trend as much as anyone.

What I asked you was about the "positive image" phrase, because sometimes we on the outside don't get the full picture, just snippets of what the people giving us the info believe in. A little example: ask an african-american, a latino and a white guy about the musical movement in USA, and you'll see what I'm talking about. You're right in believing the info you get is correct, maybe you have good info sources, it's just that I'm old enough to know that things are not always as some people tell us they are.
And projecting the behavior of a certain type of fan onto the group is wrong, the ones with the negative image are THOSE FANS, not the group, at least that's how I see it. Another example: is soccer seen as something not very good, just because some hooligans destroy everything they see and physically harm other people when their team looses? No, the negative image is on those fans, and so should be here.
Sorry about this long rant, I really wanted to make things clear, and sometimes I get carried away. Fracture: peace :D none of this was personal, just that lately I have been seeing too many negative comments, and wanted to know if they have a solid base or not :D

This just made me like Aruiteru so much more :heart: I really think that even though Morning Musume's upbeat songs are usually very cool and great because you can actually dance with them, these more calm and meaningful songs are a very good thing every now and then. ^^

It's great they are number 1 again... I just bought the limited edition with DVD and also the limited edition with photobook yesterday in Shibuya Tower Records.
The photobook version is definately worth it - everyone looks great in it (especially Risa!) and theres a lot of photos.

Actually, every Morning Musume single since Shabondama has had two editions, a regular and a limited edition. So having more than one edition is nothing new.

The downward trend of the second week has been reversed. Daily ranking goes up to 13th for friday.

Week 2 weekly rank: 14th, 7,103 sold. Total sold is now 48,070.
- It's not the bigest drop from number 1 ever, but it's more than Def.DIVA (1->13).
- Sales this week were slow except for Mr. Children (350K). Only 8,500 were needed to get in the top 10.
- Sexy Boy is still the best selling H!P single this year (48,667), but Aruiteru only needs about 600 more to take that spot. Kusumi Koharu's Balalaika is also a contender with 47,438 sold so far.

Very good !! Morning Musume dropped so quick in the past years, but the fact is: quick. Now everything gets back to normal times. WaT's latest first week was 46K, BoA's latest first week was 42K, Momusu's 41K. Now everyone dropped, and yet they are still among the top. Of course there's Kumi, Ayu, SMAP... never die spotlight artists with 300K :) But MM is at the top among the best selling artists. Maybe the new gen can help and make them go ba to the 100K.

12,787 sold is the worst first week for a Morning Musume SingleV DVD until now. Even Chokkan2 sold more in its first week (14,987). I guess this is the downside of having a bonus DVD with a PV on it.

Well, if you haven't noticed, music dvds don't sell as much on first week anymore. The only new releases this week in Top 10 were Nirvana (#6 3371), Hirahara Ayaka (#7 2670) and Amano Tsukiko (#10 1766). Maybe compared with previous single v's it's less, but even if concert dvds with _a lot_ of content (unlike single v's with their 15 worth of footage) sell that less, I don't know what do you expect :rolleyes:

UFA is still living in the Gold Era when Japan would buy thinks for Momusu's sake. That's not the reality anymore. It's hard already to buy a three tracks cd single coming with a little card (God, not even b-side instrumental), that you also have to buy a three tracks dvd, and like two or three weeks later. Lazy people don't go back to the shop. Wotas will go, they will always go. But it's the casual people the target they are losing.
Thanks to Jbook daily rank with all editions, we could watch the DVD one was doing the best. The PB one was around there, but dropped quickly. The only CD and card was down, down, down. It took years for them to notice CD+DVD would encourage casual fans to get the stuff. And posters. Although CD+DVD are still limited editions. Maybe some day... :)

First week peak is at Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari. Total sales peak is at Souda! We're ALIVE. Most SingleVs sales happen in the first week of release. Only one SingleV almost doubled the first week sales in the later weeks (see the ratio column).

That's it. When they were on the spotlight it was cool to have the PV as well, even if it was coming three weeks later. But now the PVs are low-budget, casual fans are gone, and it seems even wotas less-wotas-being are leaving too. I know Single V gives too much money to UFA to spot it. It won't happen. But if only CD+DVD would keep going on... it's a draw of attention to get the cd as well :D

Why do I have to worry about 2002 sales? Ayu's single "H" sold a friggin _million_ copies in 2002, so what? Her singles' sales are hardly over 300,000 now. I'm just trying to say, _all_ sales went downhill, non-wota targeted releases as well (Hirahara and Amano, for example), so I consider breaking 10,000 (万) copies in 1 week a good result.

The list I posted was merely to illustrate a trend, or lack thereof, in SingleV DVD sales.
I do agree that selling more than 10K SingleV DVDs is a good result. Being able to sell so much SingleV DVDs is a feat in itself. Other artists usually only release concert or clips collection DVDs, but Morning Musume and H!P acts keep on releasing the PVs of their songs on SingleV DVDs.
Some complain about the cheapness of the H!P PVs, yet still many loyal fans buy the SingleV DVD. Are they just that, loyal, or is buying the SingleV DVD just the way fans consume pop-idol culture, which is very much visually oriented?

At first I didn't like Aruiteru all that much.But that was because there was no Makoto or Konkon and I missed them. But now I really like it. I am glad that it sold well

Aruiteru has sold 54,155 so far. Surpasses both Ambitious and Sexy Boy and it's close to catch Chokkan2 ( 54,428 ). It will probably catch it but we might never know. If it goes out of the Weekly Top200 this week, we will never know its sells again :p

Just like you say, sales totals of singles outside the top 200 are not counted. But Chokkan2 reached its total within the top 200. If Aruiteru wants to do better, it has the opportunity while in the top 200.
Now i must say, I've already seen the top 30 for this week and sales are not high a.k.a. it's a slow week and there were not many new releases. So there's a good chance Aruiteru is still in the top 200.

^ Oh I am sure Aruiteru did increasse sells but Oricon doesn't give the numbers in this report yet. Last year Suki Sugite was back on the charts after Kouhaku and sold almost 1,000 copies more. So I guess Aruiteru will be back as well. Plus it's been two weeks without updates (holiday break). The graph from that article just shows that Aruiteru had sold 54,636 before Kouhaku... so what's the point of the graph? I want the updated numbers! XD

Oricon was on a New Year's break until today (Thursday). Daily figures are released again tomorrow (Friday) and the weekly charts resume next week on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see what Aruiteru did in two weeks and if a Kouhaku effect is noticable.

I know it's old but I just saw that version and wow does it make me appreciate the song even more, I liked the original, but the melody on the piano sounds soooo much better they should have done a version like that instead of an upbeat slow version like they original.
