I've been all my days thinking "How genius, they put whales in the song!"
But maybe they did not...
00:50, 00:58, 01:05, 01:08 - I listen to the whales languages. Don't you?
<jabronisaur> oh ok just barely
<jabronisaur> but i think its high twined strings
<Shaoran> twined strings... don't say that... my love for 22sai is all for those whales in there :o

:o I've actually never noticed the background sounds.... o.o
At risk of sounding dumb, what does a whale sound like?
-
That's the first time I've notice it too. That's really odd. Whether they taped actual whale calls or not, I would say the intention was to make it sound like whale calls. Nacch is a whale herder.
PS: Does anyone feel like they hear crying babies in Sakura Mankai?
-
really? I can't really hear it, maybe I don't know how a whale sound.
Let me try and listen the instrumental version and see if I can hear it.
EDIT - just finish listening to the instrumental version of it. It's much more easier to hear it with this version, you can hear some sound that resembles a dolphin or whale (some kind of marine mammal), I never notice it and it's pretty interesting!
:D

ok someone! finally! :D
I noticed it the first time I listened to the song. That's what made if awesome for me :p
-
ya yae! This is the second time someone's linked to my video and all I see is "views for me!" :O~
But yeah.. I don't hear them.. It just sounds like a radio sound or something.. static..

Different whales make different sounds for communication, but some sound like high pitched squeals or whistles. And sometimes clicking sounds can be heard with that.
Wow, I just proved my nerdiness right there XD
It's hard to hear with the original song, so yeah I agree that listening to the instrumental is much better. I've never actually karaoke'd to this song, so this is probably why I haven't noticed it before. It definitely sounds like it could be a whale, but it could also be a dolphin? Well, SOME sort of marine mammal, anyways.

Hmm...interesting. I do hear the whale-like calls on the instrumental track. There are fish in the video. Doesn't surprise me since she loves eating fish. Ah...wait a minute, a whales a mammal. Has Nacchi eaten whales?

well I doubt that but we know how much Nacchi likes animals, for example dolphins (watch the H!M #235 2005.04.03 - Hello! Morning 5th Anniversary Special, where Nacchi went to the Theme Park and she was so excited when seeing those white dolphins!)

It's a violin; 99% sure. SUGIZO does the same thing (search for him and Vivian Hsu on youtube and watch the Ta Ta video to see what I mean).

Nacchi might like to eat whale. Quite a few Japanese people do...
"Let's cook whale" (http://www.worldcouncilofwhalers.com/publications/recipes/fried_whale_meat.htm)
"History of the traditional diet: Japanese and the whale" (http://luna.pos.to/whale/jwa_trad.html)
Here in Norway some of us eat whale on occasion too. I don't though. I got it served a few times when I was little but didn't like it much.
