A glass of cider might be more effective than an apple a day at keeping the doctor away, scientists believe. (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/28082006/344/cider-day-keeps-doctor.html)

That shit in the photo ain't cider. That's apple juice. Cider is a nice shade of tan, and you certainly can't see throw it (like milk).
from wiki: "For instance, in Pennsylvania, apple cider is legally defined as an "amber golden, opaque, unfermented, entirely non-alcoholic juice squeezed from apples". - It is made of win and tasty.

Just take apple cider vinegar

So now we have to throw boiling hot apple cider at the doctors?
Darn it, wasn't throwing apples at them enough already?

To quote Ned Flanders: "If it's clear and yella (i.e. yellow), you've got JUICE there fella. If it's muddy and brown you're in CIDER town." :P

i think it means alcoholic cider, rather than 'apple cider'. it refers to scrumpy, which is alcoholic, and tastes a "bit" mingy.
in bristol is a brilliant cider house known as the coronation tap. they sell one which is 19%+ ABV, and they only in half-pints.

does an apple really keep the doctor away?.. would apple cider be much different?

To my knowledge, food/drinks that're fermented are always full of goodness than the original product. (Kimchee'd be a fine example)
