Title: Of Roses and Fame
Post by: rndmnwierd on September 15, 2006, 01:33:53 AM
I started this sometime in early August and found it today when I was going through some stuff. It was supposed to take place in the near future, but it is the future now... I began this before Innocence but a lot of my future ideas for that are from this, so I guess they're connected. It was meant to be a stand alone story though, so read at your own discretion.

Of Roses and Fame

“Aibon!” Tsuji shouted, limping over to tackle her girlfriend. She felt her heart lift at the contact and her eyes welled up with tears. It seemed like it had been longer than six months since the last time she had seen her best friend and she had really needed to talk to her.

Kago sat down heavily in the chair outside Tsunku’s office, Tsuji resting on her lap with her head still buried against the younger girl’s shoulder. She felt the waterworks start against her shirt and began to tear up as well, “Don’t cry sweetie. You’re going to make me cry, too.” She begged quietly into her lover’s ear.

Nono laughed lightly, “It’s been a rough day.” She pulled back and gestured towards her leg, “I was just about to call you, when Tsunku called me here. I really needed to hear your voice. But this is better than I could have imagined.” She leaned comfortably against her friend’s shoulder, kissing her gently on the cheek.

Aibon winced slightly at the reminder. The cast hadn’t been off long before the doctors had determined that Nono would need physical therapy if she ever hoped to get rid off her limp. The therapy, mixed with voice training and (easy) dance lessons, filled her days with pain and frustration.

She had been calling her girlfriend almost everyday, just to keep from breaking down in front of the others. They didn’t even really talk about their problems, just enjoyed each other’s voice. It was therapeutic on both ends.

“Tsunku wanted to talk about maybe having me come back in the winter concert this year. But I couldn’t sit still, so he kicked me out.” Aibon laughed shakily, tears in her voice.

“So, I guess we should go listen to him, huh?” Nono swallowed her feelings and put up a cheerful smile, surprising her girlfriend. What had happened since she’d left? Where was her crybaby best friend? This strong, unfamiliar girl would definitely take some getting used to.

Tsuji led the way into the office, dragging her lover behind her, “What’s this about a concert?”

Second part. Probably won't update this one for a few days because I actually need to write it first...

“Well? Now what?” Aibon asked dizzily, stepping out of Tsunku’s office. The man sure
could talk when he got excited. At least he was glad to have her back.

   “We have to tell Rika-chan and Yossui!” Nono responded, now genuinely happy. She skipped down the hallway towards the elevators and waited for her girlfriend impatiently. The petulance in her face made Aibon laugh, there was the girl she had fallen for.

   “Third floor, please.” Kago gestured playfully to the buttons, seeing the number already lit up. “Huh? You’re headed to the third floor as well? What a coincidence!”

   Nono giggled and pulled the younger girl forward into a deep kiss, thankful that they didn’t have cameras in the elevator. “I missed you, Aibon. So much.” This time there were no tears, only relief.

   The two continued to make-out until the dinging doors signaled their arrival. Taking a second to straighten their appearance, the girls set forth onto the dressing room floor. Marching down the empty hallway like some demented soldiers, the girl paused at the door to Rika’s dressing room.

   “I’m sure we’ll find Yossui here, too.” Nono knocked lightly on the door. The younger girl was surprised at this also, when did they ever knock?

   Hearing a frantic ‘Just a minute!’ Tsuji grinned, “I always knock now,” she explained, “Ever since I accidentally walked in on them once.”

   Ah, that made sense, Kago nodded in understanding. They waited a moment for the okay to head in, before entering the room.

Rika sat at the low table, slightly flushed, but lit up at the sight of the younger girls, “Aibon!” At this, Yossui poked her head out of the closet and also exclaimed at seeing her.

Nono giggled at them, “At it again, huh?” she took a seat across from Rika, watching Yossui join them and try to discreetly hand the older girl her shorts back.

“Oh like you two never played around in the dressing rooms. “ Yossui sneered, motioning Aibon to sit.

“We never got caught.” The youngest replied, falling easily into their old pattern of playful banter.

The older girls proceeded to question Kago on everything- what she’d been up to, how she was handling everything that happened, what was going to happen now- among other things. The youngest gripped her girlfriend’s hand throughout most of it, afraid that she would say something to make the other fourth gen alienate her. But they stayed supportive and never judged anything she said, even unintentionally.

Eventually, someone noticed the time and all realized they had other things to do, and the gathering broke up. The older girls said their goodbyes with motherly kisses on Aibon’s forehead, welcoming her back and wishing her well. The younger girls soon found themselves outside the dressing room.

“Back home? “ Nono asked quietly.

Aibon sighed nostalgically, thinking of the apartment she had previously shared with her lover. She had certainly missed that place. “Let’s go home.” She nodded in agreement.

----Thanks Mikan for your comment. I will eventually turn you to the cute side though!

Whoo, third chappie!

Stepping into the apartment, Aibon breathed in the air with a smile, “You’ve cleaned?”

Nono nodded, even though she knew the other girl couldn’t see it behind her, “It’s technically your place and I’ve just been staying here, so I figured I should clean it up some.”

The younger girl turned to cast her a concerned glance, “You didn’t move back in with your parents?”

“No.” Tsuji shook her head, “They're still not talking to me. Well, daddy does sometimes, but you know how my mom is. Especially after…” here she made vague gestures that were somehow clearly understood.

Aibon just nodded silently, feeling guilty. She was the reason her girlfriend wasn’t talking to her parents. Nono’s mother never approved of their relationship when they announced it to their families, the exact opposite of Kago’s mother, and kicked Tsuji out.

Good thing she was already practically living with Aibon anyway. Though the youngest was sure that her girlfriend missed some of the things still trapped at her parent’s house. ‘I’m going to get it back one day.’ she fondly remembered Nono saying once a long time ago.

A light shove brought her back to the present, “Are you just going to stand there or what?” the older girl brushed past her playfully, kicking off her shoe and not bothering with slippers. Aibon followed suit.

Tsuji flopped down on the couch and propped her right leg up on the table, ignoring proper etiquette and sighing in relief. Kago took a seat a cushions length away and slowly laid down, placing her head in the older girl’s lap.

Smiling down at her lover, Nono began stroking her hair gently, and the girls enjoyed each other’s company in silence. Until, surprising both girls, Aibon broke down crying. It was like six months worth of guilt and pain just exploded all at once, though she had cried before. And then the words poured forth.

“I’m sorry Nono. I’m sorry for what I did; it was stupid, beyond stupid. I fucked up both of our careers and lives. I’m sorry for what I did to you and to the other girls. Sorry I’ve been such an inconvenience to everyone. I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Please don’t hate me.”

Her words became muffled when Nono pulled her lover up into her lap and cradled the back of her head. Kago buried her face in her girlfriend’s shoulder, sobbing so hard it felt as though her insides were being rearranged. The older girl could do nothing but hold her girlfriend and sniffle back her own tears, waiting for the flood to stop.

Swallowing past the lump in her throat, Nono kissed her lover softly, tasting her salty tears, and whispered against her lips, “I love you, Aibon. There is nothing you can do that would make me hate you. Nothing.”

The encouragement almost sent the younger girl into tears again, but she managed to hold back, “But what about last fall?” she asked quietly.

Shaking off the bad memories, Nono lifted Kago’s chin so that she could look into her eyes. “Hey. Not even that made me hate you.”

Aibon guiltily reflected upon the hell she had caused her best friend last year, especially the noticeable effects during the fall. “You got so skinny.” She marveled as she had a hundred times before. “And I was such a bitch. How did you put up with me?”

Nono shook her head, “Forget about it. It’s in the past. Besides, don’t you want to be cheered up?”

The younger girl knew when her lover didn’t want to talk about something, so she just nodded, lying back down on the couch and pulling the older girl to lay beside her. Letting her lover kiss away her remaining tears, Aibon snuggled into the other girl’s chest her exhaustion sending her into a deep sleep almost immediately.

Watching over her younger lover, Nono was wide awake. Talking about last year had brought back all the memories she had tried to forget. Memories of seeing the girl she loved flaunting her relationship with a man. Memories of hearing how much better he was than her. Memories of the worried looks the other members of H!P gave her when she started losing weight.

Shaking her head against such thoughts Tsuji tried to get some sleep. Even in her dreams, though, she was haunted by the guilt in Aibon’s eyes. The same guilt she had seen when the younger girl realized exactly what her selfishness had caused Nono.

----Ah tears... And thnx Tanachan, I'll change that.

Whoo! ....That is all...

Blinking a couple times in confusion, Aibon realized that she was not where she had fallen asleep. Pushing aside the covers, she stood from the bed, straightening out what she recognized as Tsuji’s pajamas. Hearing voices in the living room, she stumbled down the hall towards them, snagging her glasses on the way out the door.

Makoto looked up from her conversation with Nono and greeted Aibon with a cheerful smile, “Hey! It’s good to see you again. Been a while, huh?” she stood and walked over for a hug.

Still groggy, the younger girl could only allow the energetic hug, barely managing to stay on her feet. She was swept up and deposited on the love seat next to her girlfriend.

“Makoto?” the engine was going but the wheels weren’t quite connecting with the tracks. The others girls laughed at her expression.

“You ready to go back to work today?” Nono asked, putting an arm around Aibon’s shoulders and squeezing her lightly. The younger girl looked at her for a minute, slowly processing the question, and then nodded.

Makoto shifted uncomfortably in the chair across from them, “Yeah, about that. Some of the girls aren’t so happy about you coming back.”

“Eh? What do you mean?” Nono seemed to pull the younger girl in protectively at that.

“I mean that Tsunku announced your return. And not everyone likes it. The sixth gen and Koharu don’t seem to have a problem, but they aren’t quite as opinionated as the rest of us. Gaki-san was pleased and Yoshizawa-san, of course, but I haven’t heard from any of the graduated members, except Ishikawa-san. Everyone is going to be there today, though. The entire Project.” the way she said it made it seem like a dire warning.

The young lovers shared a glance; it wasn’t like they had a choice in going today. Nono gently kissed Aibon’s forehead, “They have a problem with you, then they have a problem with me. W, together forever.” she held out a peace sign, smiling when her girlfriend’s fingers pressed against her own.

Makoto watched all of this with a warm fuzzy feeling growing over the dread in her stomach. Maybe they would be alright. “C’mon. Time to go.”

Short update, just cause I've been neglecting this story.

Walking in the door, Aibon felt immediately self-conscious. The staff either stared at her or walked away, though some smiled encouragingly. The only thing that kept her from bolting was the grip Nono had on her hand. The first people to approach them were the Melon girls.

“Hey ‘Bon.” Saito said neutrally. The tone sent the young duo on edge and tension flew across their shoulders.

“Hey.” The younger answered cautiously. It was silent for a minute, until Hitomi reached out and pulled the pair into a bone-crushing hug.

“Welcome back.” And just like that, the atmosphere cleared and, smiling, the embrace was returned.

“It’s been…. quiet without you.” Masae said when the girls were released, patting both on the head.

“You mean this one,” Aibon pointed her thumb at Nono, “hasn’t been giving you trouble?”

“Well, she’s been trying, but she’s much less destructive when she doesn’t follow your lead.” Megumi accepted a tight squeeze from the duo before they directed themselves towards Ayumi, nearly sending her to the ground.

The idols made small talk for a while longer, then decide to go face the music. Lightened from their first warm reception, Aibon led her lover to the main waiting area, where most of the others would be gathered. This wasn’t so bad after all.

Then she saw Yuko marching towards her, expression hard, and swallowed that last thought.

Finally, I update here. I'm only one chapter ahead of myself, if that makes any sense, so....

“N-Nakazawa-san.” the woman stopped in front of them and studied them coldly.

“You’re back, huh?” The girls were confused; it wasn’t like Yuko to state the obvious like that. They waited for more.

“…”

“…”

Finally Yuko shifted on her feet, sighing lightly and giving the two a lopsided grin, “When we all have some vice or another, it’s pretty hypocritical to condemn you for smoking.”

Relief washed over Aibon and then annoyance, “You guys are gonna give me heart failure if you keep pretending to be mad at me!”

“Who’s pretending?” a menacing voice called from behind them. The duo spun around to see a steaming Fujimoto with her hands on her hips, glaring daggers at the lot of them.

“Don’t you have puppies to be kicking?” Nakazawa was exaggerating a little, but the point got across.

“Well actually, I’m done with that for today.” Miki gestured to a couple of crying Berryz, “You should probably go see if there’s any permanent damage.”

Reluctant to leave two of her favorite people at Miki’s mercy, Yuko turned to ask them what they thought. She found resolve in their faces and knew they’d be okay. With one last look back, Yuko left to tend to the kids.

Nono instinctively stepped in front of her girlfriend, somewhat blocking her from Miki’s poisonous gaze. It didn’t stop her words though.

“How dare you come back, at least Yaguchi had the decency to resign.” Miki seemed to tower over the duo, making them clench their fists. “Don’t look at me like that. Someone has to say it, you’re not kids anymore and they should stop babying you!”

“It’s not babying if you don’t pick someone apart like a vulture!” Nono was unafraid of the demoness, she’d gone so long without Aibon, now that she was back nothing was going to take her away.

“I don’t seem to remember talking to you.” The cold tone sent chills down their spines.

“I like you Miki, but I won’t hesitate to make you an enemy.” Aibon was surprised at the amount of hatred that filled her lover’s voice.

“By siding with her,” the contempt pooled on the floor, “You already have.” Message made clear, Miki stalked away.

Aibon cautiously placed her hands on Nono’s stiff shoulders, seeing the tension drain away at the contact, and then led her to one of the couches. “C’mon, didn’t you say that you shouldn’t be on your feet for too long?”

Nono silently complied, pulling her lover down beside her, “Damn her, what right does she have to say that?”

“Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, baby. You can’t change the way they think.” Aibon brought Nono’s leg to rest on her knee, gently massaging the calf.

“Doesn’t make her right though.” The older girl brought her hand up to her forehead, rubbing away at her temples, “Mmm, thanks. That feels good.”

“Don’t worry. Everything will work out.” Aibon was surprisingly cheerful after their encounter.

“How do you know?” Nono watched a few of the staff walk by with disappointed looks and felt shame for her friend.

“I have faith in you. And in us.” Aibon glanced around to make sure no one was looking, and then pressed a quick kiss to Nono’s lips. The older girl was surprised at her audacity, so soon after the scandal, but not complaining.

“Let’s go find some of the others.” Just as she said that, Konno walked by carrying a box of random junk.

“Kon-chan!” Aibon called out happily.

Konno took one look and walked away. Nono watched all of Aibon’s faith fade out of her and doubt begin to set in.

Nono sighed, gently rubbing the sobbing Aibon’s back. As soon as Konno had left, Nono saw the tears filling her lover’s eyes and swept her off to the privacy of their dressing room. She knew that the two had had a special sort of bond, kinda like what Nono and Makoto had, so she was sympathetic and, yet, so angry.

‘How could Konno do this? I thought they were friends. Friends aren’t supposed to leave friends in the lurch. It’s not right!’ Nono tried not to let her emotions color her outward appearance and did a pretty good job, but Aibon could always read her like a book.

“Don’t be mad at Kon-Kon, she didn’t mean it.” It was amazing that Aibon could defend the reason for her tears like that; Nono had no choice but to burst her bubble.

“Konno gave you up, abandoned you. What kind of friend does that?” As soon as the words left her mouth, Nono knew she shouldn’t have said them.

“Friends like me, remember? And don’t talk bad about Kon-Kon, if Makoto had done the same to you, you wouldn’t want me to badmouth her.” It seemed that a fight was imminent unless things were quickly calmed, the last thing Nono wanted to do was fight, but she couldn’t just lie.

“Yes, you were a pretty bad friend back then, but you made it up to me and all was forgiven.” though never forgotten. “And I’m sorry for saying that in the first place, okay, it was judgmental.”

For a moment, it seemed that the truthful approach would, once again, fail and yelling would ensue, but Aibon just sighed and turned to slump into Nono’s arms. “I’m tired, Nono, so tired. It just seems like the days will never end.”

“Time moves faster in Tokyo, just like everything else does. Before you know it, the fans will have forgotten your scandal and moved on to the next one. ^C’est la vie.^ Such is life.” Nono shifted so that she could prop her leg up on the vanity and still hold Aibon comfortably.

“The only good thing about all this is that I lost weight. Though I’ll probably gain it all back the first week I’m here.” Aibon looked down at her slim tummy, mentally wishing it goodbye.

“Is that a good thing? I liked you chubby.” Aibon looked at Nono in disbelief.

“Really?” Aibon’s voice was flat.

“Yes really, I liked having more to hold onto. Although…” Nono moved her eyes to her girlfriend’s prominent chest, “Maybe it all just moved up.”

“Really?” Aibon repeated in a more surprised tone, “I hadn’t noticed.”

“Well, I’m an expert.” Nono puffed up proudly at her absurd announcement, not wilting at all when Aibon laughed.

“An expert on what? Breasts?”

“No, I’m an expert on your breasts.” Nono jokingly reached up to squeeze the above mentioned breasts. Aibon swatted her hands away.

“Well, Dr. Nono, since it’s been so long, maybe I could make an appointment with you tonight, say 8:00, and if you’re good, the night may end in an examination.”

Nono stared for a second, “That’s quite possibly the most erotic date offer you’ve ever given me. How can I say no?”

“Perv.”

Short interlude.

“Hey Rika!” Nono called, jogging to catch up to her friend. Rika whipped around in surprise, slowing down to let Nono fall into step beside her, “You know how we had plans tonight? I’m canceling.”

“Aibon?” Rika asked knowingly, “Oh well, I doubt you being there would have change the outcome of the night for me.”

“You make sex sound like a bad thing. You and Yocchan need more alone time, anyway.”

“We get too much ‘alone time’ as it is. It seems that sex is the only thing we do now. Just a crappy dinner and back to my place. I honestly wish that just one night we could stay up talking and nothing more.” Rika sighed, pausing in mid step.

“You sound like you’re complaining about getting it every night.” Nono put her hands on her hips, cocking her head to the side.

“I don’t want just sex, no matter how great it is. I want romance, flowers and candy, classy restaurants and moonlit walks. I don’t want McDonalds and a taxi ride to my bed. I just want to be loved.”

“Well then, tell her that. Tell her what you want. It’s simple.” Nono gently placed her hand on Rika’s shoulder, giving her a gentle look.

“Yeah, it is simple. If I tell Yossui what I need, I’m sure she’ll give it to me. She loves me.” Making a fist, Rika pumped her arm once, “Thanks Non, I’ll talk to you later.” And with that, Rika scampered off.

Nono smiled, hoping that things would work out.

This is my last ditch effort to get some interest in this story before I go back and delete my posts and stop posting. I don't even have ten readers and no one's commenting so I'm just going to kill this story before it starts to suck more.

“Ah, I love this place.” Aibon stretched her arms above her head, knocking her stylish hat off her head and letting her hair flow loosely around her shoulders. Nono watched from under her baseball cap, pushing her baggy sleeves up her arms. Her dark yankee fashion made her look like a boy and Aibon’s tight top and jeans emphasized her feminine curves.

Walking into the restaurant, they looked like a normal couple, but revealing their faces to the manager had scored them a VIP booth, allowing them to be free with their conversation. Nono carefully removed her hat, being sure not to mess up her hair, and set it in the seat next to her.

“I haven’t eaten here in a long time.” Nono looked around nostalgically, remembering the fun times had in this very booth.

“Why not?” Aibon looked over the top of her menu.

“No reason.” Nono didn’t want to say that Aibon was the reason for her not coming to this restaurant anymore, even with the other members.

The waiter came over to take their order, but when he opened his mouth to speak, nothing came out; instead he just stared at the two idols, apparently in shock. Nono and Aibon stared back, “Um, excuse me?” Nono began rudely, “Are you just going to stand there or are you going to ask us what we want?”

Seeming to snap out of his haze, the waiter gave a fakely charming smile and flipped open his notepad, “What can I get for you ladies?” Nono rolled her eyes and gave her order, crossing her arms when Aibon smiled at the man thankfully.

“What?” Aibon shrugged when he’d left, “He’s a waiter, he’s got to deal with punks all days, we should be nice.”

“Yeah, I guess. Let’s leave him a big tip or something.”

The two got to talking like old times, catching up on all the little details that had been left out of their phone conversations. Their food came to give them a break from talking and then they had dessert and after, they stayed at the table a while, just talking about nothing and everything. Before they knew it, it was ten to midnight and the manager was trying politely to get them to leave.

Nono took care of the check and Aibon set out a twenty dollar tip, to the protests of Nono. “Twenty? That’s about ten too much.”

“Please, we’re brats and he was nice to us all night, I think he deserves a little something extra.”

Nono was tempted to say something really mean, but held it in and just nodded, grapping her cap and shoving it low on her head, watching Aibon pile her hair on top of her head and set her own hat on top. Nono followed her girlfriend to the exit, stopping to thank the manager for letting them stay so late. When she turned back around though, she saw Aibon frozen at the door.

“Aibon?” Nono took a step closer, peering over her shoulder and out the door, gasping at the sight. Dozens of reporters stood with cameras at the ready, it was a frightening sight.

“Quick, out the back.” The manager ushered them back into the restaurant, “I’m so sorry about this, it’s seems that someone couldn’t keep their mouths shut about you two being here. They will be taken care of.” Nono nodded, unable to be angry at the man. She saw their waiter standing by one of the tables and knew from his smirk that he was the one who called the press.

Nono glared and as they passed the VIP booths, she snatched the twenty off the table. Jerk! She tugged off her cap to be able to see better and slammed shoulder first into the door, bursting out into the cool air of the clean alley behind the restaurant. There were two ways out, to the left led back to the reporters and to the right, who knew? From the left, the sound of running feet reached Nono’s ears. She decided to go right.

“C’mon!” Holding her hat in one hand, Nono took Aibon’s hand in a gentle grip, dragging her off as fast as her legs could go. The younger girl was much slower, not having the training that Nono had, and her pace slowed both down. Looking behind them, Nono realized that the reporters were quickly gaining. This called for sneakery.

Nono made a sudden left into a small alleyway, finding that the path twisted and turned. As she was running, she pulled her cap back on her head, reaching over with her now free hand and snatching Aibon’s hat from it’s perch, seeing her long hair fall around her shoulders. The two made a final right and found themselves at the other entrance into the alley.

Thinking surprisingly fast, Nono pushed Aibon up against the wall next to a big dumpster, ensuring that nobody outside the alley could see them. One arm she raised next to Aibon’s face, her baggy sweatshirt blocking her face from anything inside the alley. The other arm reached down to grasp and pull Aibon’s leg up to wrap around her hip and pressing their pelvises close together.

Aibon was confused, “What are you doing, they’re almost here!” Nono looked skyward; sending up a quick prayer, then leaned down and captured Aibon’s lips in a fierce kiss.

At first Aibon resisted, this was no time to think about sex after all, but then the reporters charged around the corner and right past what appeared to be a heterosexual couple making-out in a dirty alley. At once, Aibon understood Nono’s plan; it was really smart. That was weird, as Nono wasn’t known for her quick wit.

After the stampede past by, the alleyway was almost deathly silent. Then Nono cried out in pain as her leg collapsed from under her.

----There dammit. Now review.

Perv cookies are something Mikan and I came up with. In response to her first perv fic, I wrote something like 'Come to the dark side, we have cookies.' And it stuck. So whenever someone writes a perv fic now, we give out ja cookies!

BTW, much as I love you, it's going to take a few more reviews to keep this story going. Though I promise not to delete my previous posts.

It's my birthday today! So I decided to update all of my fics.

Aibon sat with her legs pulled up to her chest and her face buried in her knees on one of the hard chairs in the hospital waiting room. On her left, sat Rika, gently rubbing her back and on her right was Yossui, clutching her hand. The rest of the room was filled with H!P members, the other Biyuuden girls, every Momusu member that was still in the project, past and present, Melon Kinenbi, who’d heard the news, and Berryz Koubou, who’d been swept up in the stampede.

Slowly lifting her head, Aibon looked directly across from her at Nono’s father and sister, noting that her mother was conspicuously absent. Were things really so bad between Nono and her mother that the woman wouldn’t even come to see her at a time like this? ‘That was my fault, too.’ Aibon thought sullenly.

Nono’s father suddenly reached for something in his pocket and pulled out a cell phone. He answered it quietly, “Hello dear. Traffic? It’s okay, we haven’t heard anything yet.” Aibon blinked, so her mother was on her way. That was good. Now all they had to do was wait.

For the next twenty minutes, Aibon just concentrated on the hypnotic feeling that Rika’s hand made on her back, rubbing in gentle circles. Her trance was interrupted by a scrub clad doctor stepping into the waiting room.

“Ahem, the family of Tsuji Nozomi?” He was obviously surprised at the circus in the room. Nono’s father and sister stood to speak but Aibon was already next to the doctor.

“How is she? Is she okay?” Aibon clasped her hands together in front of her chest, looking earnestly up at the man. The doctor gave a questioning look at Nono’s father.

“She’s family.” he confirmed gruffly, “Now, what’s the news?” The doctor nodded and led them farther into the hallway.

Aibon felt her heart warm at the words, but quickly focused back on the problem at hand, “So how is she?”

“She re-injured her leg, much worse this time. We had to go in and reconnect some of the torn ligaments and found that whoever treated her last actually hurt her more. Her muscles were a mess, tendons stretched to the snapping point, scars everywhere; it was a wonder she could walk at all with all the damage to her leg. We’ve done what we can and now the rest is up to her.”

Aibon sighed, not sure what was good news and what was bad, “Can we see her?” Nono’s father spoke quietly.

“The anesthesia still hasn’t worn off and she’s sleeping. Go home, get some rest, and come back bright and early tomorrow. She’ll be awake then and visiting hours are from 8:00 to 10:00.” With that, the doctor shook Nono’s father’s hand and left.

“What’s the news Mio?” a feminine voice spoke up from behind them. When Aibon turned around, she was faced her personal enemy, Tsuji Yuki, Nono’s mother. The woman hated her for corrupting her daughter and hadn’t spoken to either one of them since she’d disowned Nono two years ago.

“They said that she’ll probably be fine and we should come back tomorrow when she’ll be awake.” Tsuji Mio, Nono’s father, gently hugged his wife. It seemed like he needed it more than her, though.

Yuki seemed to finally take notice of Aibon and cleared her throat awkwardly, “It seems that you and I need to have a talk. Let’s go.” It was not a suggestion and Aibon followed immediately, waving away the concerned glances and questions. It would have to wait until tomorrow, it seems.

Hiya, I've been stalking this story from the shadows and finally got the courage to review ^__^;; I love it so far, it's really interesting to read the relationships between the characters. I hope you can get your computer up and running soon-- the suspense is killing me x__x

...a bit off-topic, but have you ever seen House? For some reason, I can kinda see Tsuji quoting what the main character once said ("I like my leg. I've had it for as long as I can remember.") ._.; But then again, he was about to loose his leg...I hope that doesn't happen to Tsuji-chan;;;

Ah, I'm done. This story is going to be a lot shorter than what I have planned for my other ones.

“I’ve never approved of your relationship with my daughter.” Yuki was not the kind of person to stall when something needed to be said, and no sooner had the two sat down at a corner booth in the nearly empty café did she begin to speak. The friendly waiter was sent away with a gesture and a glare and Aibon almost laughed at how similar Yuki and Nono really were, having seen that action more than once after a hard day.

Looking at the woman sitting across from her, Aibon was struck by how fortified Yuki seemed to be with her back against the wall, while she felt open and exposed. Somehow, Aibon sensed that the woman had forced them into these positions for a reason.

“There are a lot of reasons for me to dislike you.” Yuki went on in a calm voice, “Mostly because you’re just a trouble maker, but also because no matter how hard I tried, you still managed to corrupt my innocent Nozomi into the evil Ribboncat.” If she wasn’t currently slightly fearing for her life, just the mention of Ribboncat would have cracked Aibon up for a good long while.

“You have no idea what it’s like to watch all the good morals you’ve tried to instill in someone over twelve years just disappear into nothingness. And the worst part of it all was that Nozomi willingly, even happily, went along with everything you said. She even told me about it everyday when she got home, the pranks you’d pull on the poor staff and the new ways you’d found to torment your friends.”

Aibon shifted uncomfortably, unwilling to mention that Nono had come up with just as many pranks and they were ten times more evil than previously conceived. Whatever Yuki thought about her daughter being innocent was wrong, but Aibon wasn’t about to point out exactly how that innocence had withered away since just the thought made her blush.

“Nozomi has done wild things for you, drinking, smoking, partying at all hours of the night, and just doing whatever without even telling me where she would be. I worry and because of you, she doesn’t even care.”

“Of course she cares.” Aibon felt the need to interject, “Nono’s just the kind of person who doesn’t think about consequences. It’s why she likes doing those wild things with me.”

“She could have, and has, gotten hurt because of you!” Yuki slammed her hand on the table top, making Aibon jump.

“She was just trying to protect me, like she always has. Yes it was my fault she got hurt tonight and don’t you think I feel badly about it? I don’t like seeing the love of my life laid up in a hospital bed any more than you like seeing your daughter there.” Fear mostly gone, Aibon crossed her arms and slumped back in her chair, not even realizing she had leaned forward.

“And we come to the real reason why I asked you here tonight.” Before Yuki could go on, though, Aibon interrupted her again.

“If you’re going to ask me to break up with her again then you can forget it.” Aibon shivered slightly, remembering the last time that had come up in a conversation between them. The outcome was Nono loosing her home and moving in permanently with Aibon.

“I don’t like you,” Yuki ignored the girl, making her fume, “Not even a little bit, but I’ve noticed some things about my daughter since you two started dating; good things. I’ve noticed that every time I see her with you, she’s smiling; that every time you two are near each other, her whole demeanor changes. I remember being that age and I remember what it was like to fall in love, after all, I was Nozomi’s age when I met her father.”

Confused at why her ‘sworn enemy’ was disclosing this type of information, Aibon quietly listened. Maybe the night wouldn't end in tears or bloodshed.

“No matter the bad things you’ve brought out in her, you’ve also brought out the good. She only ever argued with me about you; before that, she was always an obedient child. Rebellion is common in kids, especially when it comes to who they date, but I never got that out of Nozomi. The first boyfriend she ever had, I disliked from the first day I met him. I knew he was bad news, just like I knew you were, and when I told her to break it off, she did.”

Aibon thought about this, Nono had always come across as a ‘my pace’ type of person. Someone that didn’t really care what other people thought and rarely listened to her senpai. Obedience was something foreign to Aibon, who always got away with everything, no matter how awful. She’d always thought that Nono was the same, but remembered how hard she had cried when her mother disowned her and some of the things she’d said that night suddenly made sense.

‘You make me strong, Aibon. You give me courage. I would never do this for anyone else.’ Nono’s tear stained face was imprinted in Aibon’s memory, a reminder of love and the lengths Nono was willing to go to prove her’s.

“I don’t approve of you, but I have no choice but to allow it.” Aibon bit the inside of her lip to avoid saying something about how it wasn’t Yuki’s choice; the woman was trying to be civil so Aibon might as well do the same. “She truly loves you, whether I like it or not, and I see the way you make her shine. I just want my daughter back.” The last was almost a whisper and Aibon felt for the woman.

“Maybe we can work something out. I know that Nono’s always regretted what happened between you two and that it’s been hard going without her family to support her. She always says that she wishes you and I could just get along, I’m willing to try if you are.” Aibon hoped that her earnest tone would spark agreement in her foe and was not disappointed when Yuki nodded seriously.

“I won’t snipe at you and you won’t disrespect me, deal?” Yuki offered her hand to the younger girl.

“Deal.” Aibon shook Yuki’s hand, a weight lifting off her shoulders. Somehow, though, she knew that it would take more than that to keep their promise.

After two months of slacking off, I'm finally putting up another chapter of crap. But I worked hard on this crap dammit, and I'm not just gonna flush it. I swear that I will finish this story.

Nono wasn’t sure what made her wake up suddenly, but knew when she did that she wasn’t in her own bed. Sure Aibon was cuddled up on her left side like she always was, but the bed was almost too small for the two to fit comfortably. It was the smell that tipped her off.

‘Hospital.’ The disinfectant scent was overwhelming and Nono remembered her childhood fear. Of course, she had long since gotten over that. Long ago. A very long time ago. Yeah.

To take her mind off of thoughts of needles and cold metal, Nono examined herself and her surroundings. Leg in a cast, Aibon by her side, I.V. on the other side, morphine clicker. Heh heh. Morphine.

A few clicks and Nono felt herself slip into a dream land of happy colors. It seemed like only a few minutes before she came back to her senses, but when she did, Aibon was no where to be found. Groggily, Nono sat up, throwing her legs over the side of the bed and calling out for her lover. She was surprised by how quiet her voice sounded and cleared her throat.

“Aibon?” her voice resonated throughout the room, giving an eerie quality to the shadows. A little freaked, Nono got out of bed and headed towards the hallway. Stepping into the darkened corridor, she swallowed, looking to the right and seeing the abandoned, yet fully lit nurses’ station farther down towards the exit.

The light above her flickered, momentarily lighting up the corridor, then sending everything back into shadow. Nono shivered and looked to the left, towards more rooms; the hallway was completely black. Oddly, looking down into the darkness made Nono feel comforted, like there was nothing to be afraid of.

Common sense told her to go towards the light, though, and Nono turned to the right, cautiously making her way towards the nurses’ station. The doors to the other rooms were closed, but Nono still took her time examining them before passing. Slowly, the details of the nurses’ desk became more visible, a dead potted plant sitting on one corner of the chest high counter and a file sitting on the other end.

The closer she came to the desk, the more of the file she could make out. At first, she could only see that there was something written on it, then that there were three characters. As she stood directly in front of the file, she realized that the characters spelled out her name. Curiously, Nono flipped open the file. There was nothing inside except for a small sticky note with a few lines scribbled on it.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t read the words. Frustrated, Nono closed the file just as the phone on the nurses’ side of the desk started ringing and she looked around, hoping that the sound would bring around someone to answer it. Something told Nono that the call was for her, though, and she leaned up over the desk, snatching the receiver from its perch.

Standing there on the tips of her toes, the muscles and tendons in her calf stretched comfortably tight, Nono realized that she wasn’t wearing a cast on her leg. A horrible scream sounded through the phone, sounding like a twisted imitation of a human voice and Nono felt her vision grow dark.

Nono shivered and looked to the left, towards more rooms; the hallway was completely black. Oddly, looking down into the darkness made Nono feel comforted, like there was nothing to be afraid of.

Remembering nothing of her dream, Nono headed towards the left, hearing an odd sound coming from the room across the hall. The nameplate next to the door indicated that the room was unoccupied and Nono began to get a strange feeling. Cautiously, she limped up to the door, peering in through the window and clearly seeing the two figures in the room.

Nono could barely hold in her gasp at the sight of Erika embracing a sobbing Rika, whose back was to the door. Erika met her eyes with a pained look over her friend’s shoulder and shook her head, indicating for Nono to just leave and forget she saw anything.

“Nono?” Aibon’s voice called from behind her, making Nono jump, “What are you doing out here?”

Taking another look at her suffering friend, Nono turned away and hobbled back to her own room, “I was just stretching my legs.”

Oh alright, here you guys go. It's short but I'm seriously trying to figure out which way to go with the plot. It may surprise you.

It was only a couple more hours before the hospital released her, still with a cast and a new set of crutches, and Nono returned to work. Even though she wasn’t really allowed to work, she still just hung around the studio, doing a vocal lesson here and there, but mostly just watching the other girls train for upcoming tours.

Sitting alone at a corner table in the cafeteria at lunchtime, Nono watched Rika cuddle up to an affectionate Hitomi. On the outside, they looked like they always had, but Nono couldn’t get the image of Rika broken down out of her mind. Sending a glare towards her fellow yonki’s backs, Nono returned to slowly munching on her potato chips.

Erika quietly sat down beside her and Nono gave her a sideways glance. The two had a kind of understanding, even though they weren’t really friends and they didn’t talk much, they were connected through Rika and if something happened to her, they would report it to each other. After what Nono had seen at the hospital, they really needed to chat.

“Was it Yossui?” Nono quietly asked. She had her suspicions, though she knew Rika would never confirm them.

“I didn’t ask.” Which means that Erika had suspicions as well, Nono nodded silently, waiting for more. “Something’s different about her today, don’t you think?

Nono nodded in understanding, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen her this happy before. It scares me that she could force up this façade so hard that not even you and I can see through it.”

“So, what are we going to do about it?” Erika turned desperate eyes to the younger girl, hoping to be given all the answers.

“What can we do?” Nono pushed away her snack and placed her head down on the table, staring once again at the reason for the discussion, “We’ll wait and watch, if we see things start to spiral, we’ll step in and say something. Until then, there’s no problem, even if there is one.”

Erika let out a frustrated sigh, “Alright, I’ll keep a close eye on her. If anything happens, I’ll tell you.” The older girl stood and with one last glance around the room, left the cafeteria. Nono turned her head and watched her leave, following Erika’s figure until she had turned the corner at the far end of the hallway. A few moments later, another figure, one that Nono was much more intimately familiar with, entered her line of sight.

Despite herself, Nono felt a smile cross her face at the sight of her lover. “Hey.” She said quietly as Aibon approached, spirits lifting at the genuinely happy grin that alighted the younger’s face. “Done with training already?” Aibon sat to Nono’s left and laid her head down in a mimic of her girlfriend’s, staring into her eyes playfully.

“It was easy, I hardly broke a sweat. Sensei can never give me the work out that you can.” Aibon laughed at the blush that raced up Nono’s neck and into her cheeks.

“Aibon.” Nono whined, feeling neatly manicured fingernails tickle her knee through her designer jeans, “That’s not fair.”

“Fair? Of course not.” Aibon let out a flirtatious giggle and drug her nail a little higher up her lover’s thigh. Abruptly, she stood and started to walk away, pausing after a few steps and turning to give Nono a seductive glance, “Are you coming or not?”

Relieved at the not-so-innocent distraction, Nono happily hopped up and followed her lover, all of her previous worries fading away. Across the cafeteria, Yossui leaned towards Rika and whispered something into her ear that made her smile wilt for only a second before she nodded, following Yossui to wherever she wanted to go.

Reposting.

For days afterward, thoughts of Rika and Erika swarmed around in her mind. Nono wondered if maybe she should say something to Rika or tell Erika to do something different. The worry that her friend was collapsing inside of herself and that maybe there was something she could do about it was starting to eat away at her mind. Right this second, though, any worries were far away.

It was a fine Tuesday morning as Nono lay lazily in bed watching her formerly naked lover pull a shirt over her head with a seductive smile, covering up a lacy white bra. It was a little game they had started playing years ago, on the days that one of them had to work and the other didn’t, both girls would get up at six, share a long shower and then dry off. The one that had the day off would go back to bed and prop herself up for the spectacle of the other getting dressed.

Neither of the duo were morning people, Aibon couldn’t speak for at least an hour after she woke and Nono was prone to uncontrolled bursts of giggles, but even Aibon managed to put on a show for her lover, bending over for an unnecessary amount of time and slowing down every single action until it was unbearably teasing.

And Nono? Well, Nono liked to dance.

Now, her fun was almost at an end and Nono was trying to think of some way to milk every ounce of pleasure from this encounter, “How about a kiss before you go?” Nono suggested, folding her hands behind her head.

“I think you’ve had enough kisses this morning.” Aibon said warily, starting to back out of the room.

“Oh, please. Just once more.” Nono gave a cute pout and watched her lover instantly give in.

“Well, I guess it couldn’t hurt.” Aibon walked back over to the bed and leaned down to peck Nono on the lips, realizing the trap when the older girl locked her arms around her neck. Although, Aibon didn’t struggle when Nono deepened the kiss or when she slipped her hand up underneath her short skirt or even when her fingers….

Aibon let out a muffled sound and pulled away from the kiss, eliciting a protest from her lover, “Just once more, please” Nono licked her lips sexily.

“’Once more?’ That’s what you said about the kiss.” Aibon laughed breathily, straightening up, “You’re going to make me late, you fiend.”

“Well, can we finish this when you get home?” Nono begged, sitting up eagerly.

Instead of giving an answer, Aibon just turned and walked away, trying not to let any giggles escape and hearing Nono hobble out of bed after her. Aibon made it all the way to the door with her very naked lover following before she stopped and turned to address her, “Well, maybe if you’re good, you’ll get something special tonight. But only if you don’t get into any trouble today.” And she was out the door before Nono could speak.

“How could I possibly get into trouble?” She called to the closed door, throwing her arms in the air. Nono decided to go get dressed and then spend the rest of the day being lazy. It wasn’t like she could take a jog or do any strenuous work outs, so it seemed that her old habit of pigging out in front the television would have to do.

For about an hour, the plan was great, but Nono quickly grew bored of soap operas and just started to flip through the channels. Feeling herself begin to slip into a trance, Nono was extremely grateful when her cell phone rang, snatching it up off the low table in front of her. The caller ID flash Rika’s name and Nono was confused, she thought the older girl had work today.

Cautiously, she flipped open her phone, “Hello?” she was expecting bad news.

“Non? I was wondering if you were busy.” Rika’s voice was unreadable and that only made Nono worry more.

“I’m,” She took another look at the infomercial for adult videos on TV, “pretty free. Why?”

“I need your help with something. Can you come to Yossui’s place?” Upon hearing that, Nono was already putting on her shoes and grabbing her crutches.

“I’m half way there. See you in a few.” And she was out the door, leaving the TV on and locking the door behind her. She snapped her phone closed and hobbled down the steps as fast as she could, almost falling in a few places. She reached the bottom floor without incident and propelled herself across the lobby and the parking lot, finally coming to a rest on the sidewalk outside.

Panting for breath, Nono hailed a cab and gasped out the address to her friend’s apartment. The cab drove off and Nono slumped back into the seat, sighing as her worries from the past few days drilled back into her mind. What could it be? No matter how much she tried to tell herself that it was probably something stupid, dread kept eating away at her hope.

No, whatever Rika had called about, it wasn’t a good thing. The cab pulled up to the curb and Nono handed the cabbie a bill, not even waiting for change, and got out of the car. Every step closer she took made her fear a little bit more. By the time she reached the stairs, she was practically shaking and with the crutches already slowing her down, it seemed to be ages before she stood in front of her friend’s door. She raised her hand and knocked.

Instantly, the door opened and Rika was escorting her inside, “I didn’t want to have to call you, but I can’t do this alone. You have to help me.”

“Help you with wh-?” It was then that Nono noticed the very dead body of Yoshizawa Hitomi lying face up on the small carpet in a mostly dry pool of her own blood.

“What have you done?” Nono stared in horrified fascination at the body in front of her.

“I didn’t have a choice.” Rika piped up from behind her and Nono finally pulled her eyes away from the remains of her friend to notice the damage that Rika had taken. The whole left side of her face was covered in bruises, her left eye was swollen and there was a cut on the right side of her lip.

“Jesus Christ, Rika. What the hell am I supposed to do? You killed Yossui!” Now that she’d said it, the words hung in the air, “What happened?”

“I told her I was leaving her; she was cheating on me anyway. We fought and she… She started to hit me. She’d done it before, once or twice, but I was scared. I thought she was going to kill me.” The words started to come in a frantic jumble, “I had a knife in my hand and I was swinging it and then I was stabbing at her and we were on the ground and I just kept stabbing until she stopped moving. I didn’t know what to do so I didn’t call you until now. Do you think maybe I can say it was self defense?”

“It stopped being self defense when she was on the ground!” Nono started to pace, “We have to get rid of her. We’ll burn her body, I’m going to have to make a phone call.” there was only one person who could help her with this. She pulled out her cell and had to look up the number, “Erika, it’s Nono. What’re you doing now?”

‘I’m having an early lunch with Maki. Why?’ a tiny voice came through the speaker. Rika started to freak out.

“No! I don’t want Erika anywhere near this!” Nono ignored her, turning her back and continuing her phone call.

“Cut it short, we’ve got a problem. I need you at Yossui’s apartment, get out some paper and I’ll give you the address.” Already her mind was trying to sort through the paths she’d have to take and her words her harsh to her own ears.

Rika was still yelling in the background as Nono relayed the address and hung up the phone, “I called you because I didn’t want anyone else to know!”

“I trust Erika! Be lucky that I love you, because I wouldn’t do this for anyone else!” Nono lowered her voice to a whisper, “Yossui was my friend; no matter what she was to you, she always treated me right. And now you’re asking me to help you hide her dead body.” Tears welled up in both girls’ eyes as the full force of what was happening sunk in.

“I was scared. I’ve been scared for weeks. What else could I do? How else could I protect myself? And now, I’ve destroyed my one reason for living.” Rika fell to her knees with a sob.

“No, maybe it was extreme, but you’ll probably live longer now. At least you better live for a long time!” Snapping back into leader mode, Nono handed Rika her purse, “Go to the store and buy cleaner. Lot’s of it, every kind you can find, bleach, ammonia, Windex. I don’t care, just bring it here And masks and goggles and gloves! Go!” Nono went over to the body and kneeled down next to her.

“What are you going to do?” Rika paused at the door.

“I’m going to pray.”

~~~~~~~~~~~
A knock at the door brought Nono back to reality and she slowly stood, tearing her eyes away from her friend in order to open the door. Outside was a curiously worried Erika and she stepped cautiously through the door. Nono didn’t say anything, just pointed to Yossui, lying there on the floor and watched Erika’s eyes go wide.
For a minute, it was quiet as the older girl tried to process what was in front of her, then Erika nodded in understanding and turned to Nono for instructions, “What are we going to do?”
“Get rid of her.” Nono limped into the living room, edging around the body and took a seat on a clean cushion on the couch.
“How?” Following her but staying on her feet, Erika felt her eyes drawn to the body of her senpai.
“I know a place we can bring her; it’s a crematorium. I used to go there all the time with my friends and I still go there sometimes when I want to be alone. The furnace works, should be enough.” Nono slumped forward, placing her chin in her hands.
“Where’s Rika?” Erika finally took a seat next to her, placing an arm around her shoulders hesitantly.
“I sent her out to buy stuff, she’ll be back soon.” Nono smiled in appreciation of the gesture, pulling out her cell phone and dialing a familiar number. She waited for the other line to pick up before she spoke, “Hey Aibon, I’m not coming home tonight. No, no, I’m staying with Rika. Just, you know? Yeah, sorry, it was kinda sudden but I couldn’t just say no. I love you. See you tomorrow. Bye.” She snapped the phone closed and the two sat in silence.
The door opening bought their attentions to Rika, walking slowly into sight, she didn’t say anything either, but it looked as though she’d been crying. Nono and Erika watched her put down the heavy looking shopping bags she was carrying, before Nono stood with resolve, grabbing a mask, a pair of gloves and some goggles, “I want to go over this room with a fine tooth comb. We will clean every once of blood that we see and afterwards we will go over the whole room with a bleach solution. That should be enough to hide any stains.”
The other two exchanged glances and started picking up supplies. What had happened to the beloved Bakajo? Who was this strange, reliable leader? Neither was sure, but they felt compelled to follow orders for now.
The cleaning was painstaking and took a long, long time. By the time the three of them, or rather, Nono was satisfied everything except for the small, loose carpet underneath Yossui’s body was spotless. They gathered around, looking down at her silently.
“Now what?” Erika asked, putting her arm around a teary eyed Rika.
“Roll her in the carpet. We’ll wait until later, and then take her down to the crematorium.” Nono supervised them as they slowly positioned Yossui to better wrap her in the carpet. After they were done, the three were at a loss. How were they supposed to waste away time?
Nono flipped on the TV, “Have a seat and pretend not to think. It works for me.”
