If he didn't do what he did he would have lost credibility and trust that comes with the position of police chief.

Bleh, that's rough. Real rough. Busting your own son. But then again the kid must have been really messed up to feel he should be as ignorant as to try and bust a bank regardless of the fact his father is a fuggin police chief.
