Title: Death Note (Anime ver.)

Airs tomorrow. Judging by the trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_mkXrmJuco), the animation seems to live up to the quality of the manga. Should be fun~ :O

Yeah, the animation looks superb. I hope it maintains its consistency throughout the series. Any news on how many episodes it will have? I hope they won't compress it into 26 episodes.

Which arc is it covering, anyone know?

I hope it won't be as draggy as the manga. I'll still check it out though, I guess. But expectations will get pegged down a bit :)

I've been watching this and I'm liking it quite a bit. It seems to be following the manga pretty closely even though I think Light's really being made out to be quite a bit more evil than he is.

the anime is okay but nothing really amazing like i had hoped it might be. i like that it's sticking closer to the manga storyline but i don't really like the animation. it's good quality and all being Madhouse but i just hoped for something different i guess. and i don't care much for the character design. anyway, i'll still give it a chance but it doesn't hold a match to the manga.

So I just finished reading the manga..

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quote
I seriously got confused the fuck out with shit load of explanations in the end. But I was expecting Near to die as well with Light. I agree with Matsuda's theory though. That Near used the death note and controlled Teru and Mello.

The anime follows closely to the Manga, so now that I'm reading the Manga and watching the anime, It seems kinda of boring to do one after the other. Although the anime did change a little, for an interesting bit on episode 12.
Episode 13 should be subbed soon, right?
I'm going to watch the full 37 episodes, thats how many that are scheduled to be made...

^ Yea & it's gonna takes a long time to wait
probably, it'll finished in the middle of this year (my assumption)

Well, my opinion about this anime is, They are good ... the sound effect, the graphic, the voice character.
the storyline!? it's so similar to manga, so no question about it
But still i don feel bored to watch this anime even though i've read the whole manga & know the ending what is gonna be aswell

I've been DLing the anime Desu Nouto from http://idols-unlimited.com/

I should add a direct link to the Death Note page:
http://idols-unlimited.com/death-note

A link to the Death Note live movie is here:
http://idols-unlimited.com/death-note-the-movie

It's been recorded of HDTV, so id good quality, it just breaks to commercials (which aren't included) a couple of times.
It includes a preview of the next part, which HAS been released, but I'm waiting to find it :)

I really recommend this to people whom haven't started it. It'll get you hooked b/c of how suspenseful the anime is. It may seem a lil dark and freaky initially... but you'll get over it!

The anime started airing right after I finished the manga, nice coincidence. So far the anime has followed the manga closely but many anime start this way and stray off. Personally I would love and alternate ending. The ending to the manga wasn't what I expected but it was still great, but it can be greater. If you've read it you know what I'm talking about.

There's going to be 37 episodes.
But, they're /just/ at the Yotsuba group part.
In episode 17-18.
How are they going to fit like 60 manga chapters into 20 episodes?
Take out Near and Mello?
>:

Hmm there are rumoured to be around 50 episodes actually. We're still in the Yotsuba arc at episode 20, and there's still much more to go. At the current pacing, 50 episodes should cover it all nicely, though they might not go that far...depends I guess.

dl-ed the manga.. been tempted to read the damn thing but i didnt wanna spoil my anime watching experiece.... does the anime follow the manga exactly??

Yes, but not fully, the anime adds in a little. I don't remember the homo-erotic moment of Light and L from the manga, but it seemed to add a lot to the anime. Mainly that Light still had emotions for other's lives. He seems to disregard it after a while in the manga.

I suggest.... maybe see the movies first, then see the anime... There are some reasons that later you may understand...

I agree with you. The movie was kinda lame because the story approach is different.  :-[

Oh dear (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD3hSGzz1rA)

Listen, and be glad you heard the Japanese dub first. L's voice sounds weird, but the worst offender is Light who sounds like an obnoxious brat. In fact, I can definately see that Misa will sound like she's come straight out of California and Ryuk will be a Gollum-impersonator. Watch this space.
