Title: Rambo IV: "JOHN RAMBO"
Post by: Masa on October 08, 2006, 10:40:21 AM
Rambo to Face The Serpent's Eye?

Source: Production Weekly October 6, 2006

According to Production Weekly, Sylvester Stallone will reprise the role of Vietnam vet John Rambo in a fourth "Rambo" film.

The site says that Stallone is set to produce and direct the sequel based on his own script titled, Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye. Production is tentatively scheduled for January in Thailand.

The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by a group of Christian human rights missionaries to protect them against pirates, during a humanitarian aid deliver to the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After some of the missionaries are taken prisoner by sadistic Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: to assemble a team of mercenaries to rescue the surviving relief workers.

Rambo vs. the SLORC military junta?!?  This will be the greatest Rambo sequel ever!  After beating up the Vietnamese and aiding the Taliban, it seems like Rambo finally has his moral compass in the right direction.

Lets hope that Aung San Su Kyi gets a cameo, and that the destruction of Myanmar's forests is highlighted to the world audience.  And if Rambo stops by Thailand and gives the our military junta an unsubtle reminder that human rights and democratic government are the only way to go, I'd be in heaven.

Oh baby...the plotholes galore!! HOORAY for 80s cheesy action movies!

I hope he just puts aside any political correctness and shoots everything up! Rambo II is still my fave. "I'm coming to get you!!"

The trailer looks just amazing! Concidering what we've seen in it, the movie looks to be gory as hell (yay), and with more one liners than 300 this can't be anything but a fucking masterpiece.

Haha yeah the trailer rocks! I was skeptical as hell when I first heard about it in it's pre-production stages but damn this looks to be the shiat. Hopefully it does well in the absence of Jack Bauer til next January!

With Live Free Or Die Hard going for a PG-13 rating, it's good to see that Rambo is keeping the spirit of mindlessly violent 80s action alive.

Sylvester Stallone Unveils 'Rambo' Rough Cut In L.A.: 'Let The Fun Begin!'

'I wanted to take Rambo and bring him up to modern-day sensibilities,' actor/writer/director explained at Tuesday screening.

By Larry Carroll

SANTA MONICA, California — "Well," grinned the legendary Sylvester Stallone on Tuesday night at a tiny screening room in Los Angeles, unspooling an extremely rough cut of "Rambo" for the first time. "Let the fun begin!"

With that, the lights went down and one-man-war-machine John Rambo walked onscreen for the first time in almost 20 years. The lucky few in attendance signed strict "no-review" legal forms, but this much we can tell you: It's the most violent "Rambo" yet, and is good enough to make "Rambo III" look like "Rocky V."

Before the screening, the charismatic Stallone introduced the film he wrote and directed, and in which he stars. "I wanted to be able to take Rambo and bring him up to modern-day sensibilities and deal with a more realistic view," he explained. "In this one here, I was dedicated to trying to do something more realistic."

With that in mind, he was willing to poke fun at his previous 1988 adventure, in which he battled Russians in Afghanistan. "The last 'Rambo,' it was [unrealistic]. You know, you don't walk around in a desert, in 130-degree heat, with a tank top on," Stallone laughed. "You'll get blistered on a beach in Miami in six hours! So, we definitely pushed that envelope a little too far."

When the film opens January 25, audiences will see Sly in a jungle environment, once again wielding his bow and arrow and extremely large knife. "I was looking for a subject that had both feet in reality, which is Burma," he said, referring to the country that is now officially called the "Union of Myanmar." "I called Soldier of Fortune magazine, and I said, 'What is the most underreported, egregious display of human-rights violations on the planet that no one knows about?' And they said Burma. [Abuses in the country have] been going on for 60 years, and it's a horror show, but it's a well-financed coup, and the propaganda machine buries all the atrocities that are going on there."

In Stallone's mind, it was the perfect backdrop for what he said is likely Rambo's final adventure. In the movie, the hero emerges from seclusion in Thailand to escort Christian missionaries on a humanitarian mission in Burma. The missionaries are later taken hostage.

"I thought this would be great, to be able to take the character and deal with a real-issue situation alongside some missionaries, and the mercenaries that go over there, and also provide some sort of entertainment," the burly star explained. "So, this is the end result of my foray into the Burmese situation — and maybe it's the last time I visit John Rambo."

The poster is pretty generic :(. They should've gone with the 80's theme.

Stallone: no more Rambo or Rocky

Sylvester Stallone has bid sweet adieu to his two most memorable cinematic creations, Rambo and Rocky, despite the successful launch of Rambo in the US last weekend The ageing action hero defied a mauling from the critics when his fourth, eponymously titled Rambo instalment debuted in second place in the US charts with a decent haul of a little over $18m (£9.1m). "This is the last Rambo just as Rocky Balboa is the last Rocky," Stallone told reporters. "I can't go any further. It was a miracle that it even got done."

yeah, i know, when i saw the movie he really really looked chunky and heavy,
like a tyrannosaurus - fierce and scary but still a dinosaur.

well, it's a good end to the franchise anyway.

"Y'know what you are, what you're made of. War is in your blood. When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing."

"Live for nothing... Or die for something... Your call."

I have finally seen Rambo! First of all I would like to thank Mr. Stallone for resurrecting my alltime favorite movie genre, 80s action movies. Rambo IV is easily the most awesome action movie in years and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Rambo IV is so beautiful it almost made me cry and I'm not the only one who felt that way. The audience loved the movie so much that they started applauding after the movie ended. That's something I have never witnessed before. Rambo is more than just a great action movie: it actually made me concerned about all the horrible things that are happening in Myanmar. Rambo might not believe that people can change but Stallone definitely does. Stallone is on a mission to make this world a better place

By the way, the dude who said that "Rambo makes Saving Private Ryan look like a Disney movie" was definitely on point. Rambo is the most violent action movie I have ever seen.... but that's a positive thing  :D

Anyways it's only February but I already know what is my favorite movie of the year  :yep:

Pros
- Rambo
- violence
- action scenes in general (the most intense action scenes in years!)
- blood
- guts
- gore
- one of the best villains ever

Cons
- the movie was only 80 minutes long
- Rambo didn't kill enough people

^ Please tell me you are being sarcastic, cause this movie was SHIT!!

I absolutely hated it..

"Rambo makes Saving Private Ryan look like a Disney movie", because they set out to make the most gross blood&guts film they could, and forgot to add a story..
If you want to see a "No Brainer" over-the-top action flick, then this movie is for you.. But if you want to watch something "Great" watch Private Ryan..

Pros
- the movie was only 80 minutes long (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v348/Guchi_Jnr/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
- action scenes in general

Cons
- Rambo (the guys 60... someone get him a cane...and meds)
- I've seen porn with more story than this.. (more imagination too)

Cons
- the movie was only 80 minutes long
And half of the last 10 minutes was end-titles over the last part (not that there was much going on in that part)...

Kill per minute ratio was pretty damn impressive, but yes, the movie definitly could be longer. Wouldn't hate on it being like one hour longer. Twice the killing, twice the violence.

I need to go give it a 10 @ imdb fast as hell. Good work sly, good work!! Lived up to all my expectations.

It Looks Like Sly Stallone's Rambo 5 Will Be Happening

Sylvester Stallone went from retirement and wrapping up Rambo forever to bringing back the action hero for yet another romp. We all know that Rambo 4, aka just Rambo, did quite well earlier this year, and saw the rumors that started to hit immediately afterwards. But for the longest time we all thought it was nothing more than just a big rumor. Stallone was even quoted as saying "this is the last Rambo" and that "I can't go any further." However, a Hollywood Reporter article on Lionsgate from a few weeks back (via Film Junk) includes a mention of Rambo 5 in a listing of upcoming projects. This is the first time it's been mentioned in a while, so does this mean it actually is happening?! Say it ain't so!

The article on Lionsgate mentions in the "on the development horizon" section: "Rambo V, to be written and directed by Sylvester Stallone." This is a bit baffling, but I guess Stallone was convinced to make another Rambo film. It only actually made $42.5 million at the box office in January, but I'm guessing DVD sales have been through-the-roof. This seems like some solid confirmation that Rambo 5 will happen, so I'm curious whether audiences think this is good news or bad news? This year's Rambo was actually pretty damn good, it's one of the few films that I still really remember, but I just don't know if I want to see another one. Maybe I'll be convinced when we see some new footage?
