Title: North Korea says it conducted successful nuclear weapons test

The country's official Korean Central News Agency said the test was performed successfully and there was no radioactive leakage from the site. For decades, both sides have been ready to go to war, with the US backing the South with troops and materiel. A lot of southerners resented the US, because the South really didn't want to go to war with their cousins. But with the North getting nukes, there is absolutely no way the South might invade the North. Essentially, I'm hoping that the nuclear deterrent works.

This is pretty much the same train of thought that I believe is going on in the heads of the Iranians. The US was able to use the flimsiest of reasoning to invade Iraq. But if Iran had nukes, there would be absolutely no way the US would dare invade them.

Note I'm not trying to defend the Noth here. I think they're full of crazy wackos who, by choosing to focus on their nuclear program instead of their agricultural policy, probably caused thousands of deaths from starvation.

Post by: sumper on October 10, 2006, 02:39:44 PM: i don't think that the us didn't invade the north because of nuclear threat, i think the real threat was from china. however now china spoke against north korea...and you are right where it may open up talks to slow them down. however the bigger threat is what will they do with the information they can provide to terrorist. history shows us that the north have proved them to be untrust worthy. it will be interesting to see what happens, because i don't think the US will negotiate under the force of threat (or blackmail). people are starving and getting killed in the north korea, and the people don't even know what's going on because the gov. censors everything.

I mean all we've seen from NK are all achive footage. they can say the people there are starving like some african nation and show foootage of some chinese lookin guy foraging for food and we just just take their word for it. sad world we live in nowadays..........

Err..the reason you only see NK in archive footage is because they don't let anyone in. Seriously, what? Biased as media is, it still shows what's happening.

i seen this footage where this north korean guy risked his life to smuggle out of NK. did you guys see that? it was intense. the people are like all starving; it was really sad to see people live like that. the guy was also saying how he was taking a huge risk using his cell phone to call outside the country. it was nuts. anyways, after it aired, the NK denied it and said that we should question the source. but if you saw it, it was clear what was going on there.

kurisu, bigger guns are better. you can't win with a stick. everyone wants to rule the world :cry: don't forget that japan was friends with hitler, and if america didn't drop the abomb, who knows what would have became of japan....i know it's a sh*tty thing to say, but it's kinda true.

Don't forget that Germany was primary target for these bombs.
Americans were crying that Germany capitulated before they could bomb!
And it were american and british planes that bombed german cities that were Refugee centers, and they knew it! At this time NS-army was already down, that was not necessary. But thats not topic here.

Bigger guns are better, thats the thinking why americans are the real problem. Interfere everywhere and then wondering when they are the main target for terrorists.
Military bases all over the world even in Germany. A friend was one time in a airforcebase near Frankfurt. There was a helicopter-hangar under earth under water. He said, they have there enough material to overrun Germany without problems, helicopters ready armed. WHY THAT?

This northkorean has a minibomb, IF he has it for real. USA has enough nuclear bombs to destroy ten planets! And nobody says a word against that. And a republican as president-republicans are similar to neo-nazi party in Germany. We try to get this party out, thy get them for president. Nice!

many will probably disagree but as much as people hate the US, no other country ever had more power and used it for good as the US. people always say how bad the US is for all the crap they did, etc....but you know they've done a lot of good.....a lot, that people have forgotten. in a perfect world there would be no war, but that's not the case. it's the same as saying, "why do we need policemen?" errr....because some people are just nuts and they need to be put in jail or kept in check. i'm not saying that the US should police the world, but if anyone does, i hope it's the US. can you imagine if north korea had all the nukes? or better yet, if sadam had them? or some crazy leader who's agenda was if you don't believe in muhamad then you should die? i'm sorry BX_LeMans, i don't agree with you. bigger guns is better, that's what the arms race is about. it's not like the US has a monopoly on it either, there are many countries with nuclear weapons. i wouldn't judge you if you had a gun (weapons) in your house to protect (secure) your family (home and freedom). when was the last time you heard the US say they were going to nuke a country? hmmm when was the last time you heard china say they were going to use nukes? (answer: last year). just because we can't fathom using nukes, doesn't mean a mad man wouldn't.

Over the heads of the community. If someone disagree with american direction, they are the bad. Last time before Irak, Germany, France and Russia were the bad. US stopped contacts like a huffed child.
And they has still no reason for the bombardement - no weapons found. Where should Hussein get them after the first war? To stop him was good, but not on this way, this bombs killed too many civilists.
Sorry but its still my meaning that US misuses its military and economical position.
They way US acts as "world leader" forces dictators and crazy guys like Kim Jong Il or Hussein to built bigger weapons.

Its like in Cold war, Russia tried many times to contact US government for disarming and stopping arms race. US ignored these tries for peace and built bigger guns. US forced arms race, not the "bad russians". But I think, people in US never knew this,they only got, what government said them. Its the same propaganda, that Hitler used and every dictator uses.
