A WOMAN has suffered severe burning to her anus after being struck by lightning which hit her in the mouth and passed right through her body. (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20548077-29677,00.html)
moral: always wear shoes, even in the bathroom.
She was wearing rubber bathroom shoes at the time and so instead of earthing through her feet it appears the electricity shot out of her backside," a medic told local television news channel
(nb: this is from the murdoch press, and it's unsourced, so i know it's probably made up... )

You're never safe.
moral: always wear shoes, even in the bathroom.
Isn't it safer to not wear shoes at all?
-
well, according to the article:
If she had not been wearing the shoes she would probably have been killed by the blast.
at this point, however, my knowledge of electricity ends, and i can only repeat the dictum of my old physics lecturer, which was to always wear rubber-soled shoe when dealing with live currents.

i understand that if you want to avoid serious injury from lightning, don't wear shoes, but if you want to avoid danger from electrical leak at the floor then wear shoes..
-
Ok, I'll say it....
That must have been one HELL of a fart. :P

Your anus sure is one part of your body you DON'T want to have severe burning.

This story seams so far out there! If I didn't know it was true I would think for sure that it was made up! I think I need to go out and buy some rubber bathroom shoes for the next time lighting hits my building...
