According to 'freezingkiss' from Morning Musume BBS, there's a new virus spreading throughout MSN Messenger, here's what she said:
Do NOT open a link from anyone in your contacts list that says 'is this u in that photo?' or similarwise. It is a VIRUS that hacks your MSN and sends it to everyone else in your contacts list as well without knowing. It also FUCKS up your computer hardcore. I thoroughly apologise to everyone in my contacts list. My effing cousin sent it to me the first time and now I have to go through a complete system reboot. ARGH!!!! *kicks him* It took me THREE tries to write this post because the virus kept automatically deleting what I said,
:o

Shit. :o That really sucks for freezingkiss.
-
lol, my cousin got it~
had to reformat
-
there was an AIM virus that did the exact same thing and spread the exact same way D:
-
People should know better than to click links like that..
-
It's actually pretty old, but yeah.. don't click on links that look fishy
there were also some links that looked like it pointed to ebay but were viruses too
-
yeah ..... that's true... but .. you have to ve always careful .. with these things ....
-
Er, any idea what the name of this virus is? o_o
-
^ I don't think anyone's sure what the name is yet (?)
Here's an update on how to stop the virus from starting up on MSN in case you get it, again, it's from freezingkiss herself.
But i figured out how to stop it from starting up and wrecking your MSN. Go into 'start' then 'run' and type 'msconfig', then unclick everything in 'startup' - it wont dig into anything then. After you restart. You can re-click things you want at start-up.

lol yeah the virus almost got me, but my brother say the message that poped up on my screen and immediately closed it ;)
-
The thing is, I do not see any new threads showing up 'on the radar' or on security lists, I am guesing this is actually an old threat...
Are you guys(/girls) running virus scanners??

Er I'm not sure if disabling everything in msconfig is that good of an idea. Definitely the wrong approach, imo.

Yeah that could make things worse.
I googled and found it's a really old virus, from like 5 years ago, lol.
