Title: (Band) GO!GO!7188
Post by: maliciel on June 08, 2005, 12:05:59 PM
The definitive band with Go! in it's name. :D
Yes. They're pretty motherfucking awesome. Consisting of 3 members, the singer is also the guitarist, which makes her so much more awesome. Also, how she can sing AND play at the same time is real nice. As expected their sound is more of a rock sound, and probably a litle punk in style. And their live gigs are probably the best EVER. They were also the ones who did an awesome cover of Koi No Fuga & Hyokkori Hyoutan Jima.

YEAHH!! :w00t: GO!GO!7188 is frickin' awesome. The awesomest jrock band in my opinion. Gotta love it how some of their songs are frickin' insane in a fun way, some are great for angsty feelings and some for just general awesome rock feeling & chilling. I highly recommend this band to everyone!! Wheeeeeee.
If I knew how to make music, this is the kind of music I'd like to make. :D

Haha, I just noticed JPMXXX has a Jpop section, but aside from that, I'm into this band myself. I like Hamada's bass lines and Taakii's drum style. Yuu's arrangements are awesome. Plus, she's pretty sick with the guitar. They're great to listen to. Very lively yet mellow at the same time.

WHOA i had no idea this was happening! thanks for the news and links.. it sounds like they're going away from the retro GO!GO! sound, which isn't bad at all. i liked the songs.. especially the last one. i wonder if Yuu-chan still composes the songs
that was pretty sweet when she used the slide during the 2nd song.
any news on Akko and Taakii?

I'd like to take some time go praise GO!GO!7188...
It was love at first listen, and I've known GO!GO!7188 for longer than I've known Hello! Project. After I did get into H!P there were sometimes breaks in listening to them (H!P can be so distracting), but I think I won't allow that to happen again! This summer I've been listening to their music more than anything and I can't really get bored of them. I'm just falling in love with their music more.
GO!GO!7188 really is my favourite band right now, and I think it has been for a while. I just never really wanted to admit that Garbage's (my favourite band since I was 13) last two albums weren't for me at all, so I guess I didn't give GO!GO! the credit it deserved...
I mean GO!GO! doesn't really have bad songs. There are those two or so tracks that are mostly instrumentals, those I skip. And I skip Ban ban ban because it doesn't have female vocals. But all other songs are good or great or awesome or perfect :D
My current favourite songs are Taxi, Yuge and Bungu. Songs that always make me burst with love are Ukifune, Sakurajima and Akai Sofa.
So yeah o/ Great music o/

shirenu i feel what ur saying...been loving this band forever now and they remain one of if not my fav. japanese band. the energy and creativity they bring to their music is crazy and i can't wait to see them live sometime! they really have songs for every mood but musically i think tategami is still their strongest....even though i still love all their songs including yuge, c7, kanojo to watashi, aa seishun, etc. Also Yuu's solo album is very strong as well, and u can see her influences of shiina ringo when u listen to it....ahhhh i love this band!

I just skimmed through the thread, and didn't see this posted, so...
This was actually the 2nd j-music video I'd ever seen (the first being X-Japan's Tears), and I loved it... I didn't know until reading this thread that it was originally a theme song for some show, so I had always thought MM was doing a GO!GO! cover. Akko's bass style is so awesome  ...
Anyway, I have 3 other vids of theirs which I'll upload in the hopes that the others can be reuploaded, or a torrent can be started or something... A live version of Rock is coming up, then Koi no Uta PV, then Ruriro PV.

zomg! Yuu-chan looks fuckin great! <33 and its all green and shit~
and new information on the album from their site. GO!GO!7188 5th album 「パレード」 "Parade" 2006.10.18 apparently they worked together with a number of producers on the album. the site mentions that the album will be more pop and positive. it'll be nice to hear. quite different from their usual surf rock sound, but I'm already liking it after hearing Kinkyori Renai. the title "Parade" will be the first original album to have an English title. album will have a limited edition release with a dvd.
Limited Edition with DVD (http://www.neowing.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=TOCT-26080) Regular Edition (http://www.neowing.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=TOCT-26079)
they will also start a tour "2006-2007 Michizure Tour" starting a month after the release of the album on November, lasting till the end of January. http://www.breast.co.jp/gogo7188/tour2006_2.html

K, better late than never. The Knitting Factory is a pretty small place, so regardless of where you're standing, you're still "close". But I needed to be -touching- the stage, so I got there early and got a nice spot on the left of the stage (where the bass amp was.....which totally did a number on my crotch x_x).
Asakusa Jinta: Great band to open the show with. High energy, lots of jumping around. Kewlest band ever that has someone on an accordion.
(http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7510/img00622gb5.th.jpg) (http://img80.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img00622gb5.jpg)(http://img485.imageshack.us/img485/5363/img00623da5.th.jpg) (http://img485.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img00623da5.jpg)(http://img485.imageshack.us/img485/7140/img00624lh4.th.jpg) (http://img485.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img00624lh4.jpg) I actually got hit a couple of times by the cord from the mic on this girl's alt sax. :D
50Kaitenz: These guys were nucking futs. Bowl haircuts, frilly shirts, and pants so tight, you could see bulge (I think they may of been stuffing). They are -very- Ramones influenced, and they totally rocked the place~~ Pistol Valve: 10 girls, 8 on brass, 1 on violin, and one DJ. These girls were hawt o-o. Short skirts, fishnets, kewl hats....hawt. Although the whole brass band + hip hop + rock thing is interesting, not really my type of music. (http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/4056/img00625uf4.th.jpg) (http://img152.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img00625uf4.jpg)(http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/4938/img00626gp8.th.jpg) (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img00626gp8.jpg)(http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1582/img00627qv5.th.jpg) (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img00627qv5.jpg) I had to keep dodging the violinist's bow. She would bring it down whenever she had to sing, at which I would have to move my head back to avoid getting sliced in the eye with it.~~ :D (ohyeah, did I mention they were HAWT!?)
The Emeralds: Pretty kewl band. I could do without the bishie-ness and the colorful shirts, though. x_x
HY: HY fangirls are fucking dangerous. As soon as The Emeralds finished their set, a ton of HY fangirls rushed to the front of the stage. I sure as hell wasn't going to lose my spot like everyone else was, so I soon found myself being crushed by a mess of tiny, Japanese HY fangirls. I've never been so alright with having my personal space completely and utterly violated in every way. o-o Ohyeah, HY weren't bad. They even had Dougie Fresh come out at the end and beat-box to one of their songs. (http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7766/img00631dg7.th.jpg) (http://img404.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img00631dg7.jpg)(http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/9572/img00635ef6.th.jpg) (http://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img00635ef6.jpg) Why? Why not!? Well, HY were good, but I'll mostly remember them for that time when I was fondled by a bunch of little, crazy Japanese girls.
GO!GO!7188: gogo........ If someone told me a couple years ago "one day...you will watch GO!GO!7188 play live, at arm's length." I would of said "hey, who are you...and how did you get into my apartment!?!" but later....I would of been like "NO FUCKING WAY! :o" It was beautiful. It was everything I would imagine it would be....and more. To be part of their first American audience was truly a dream come true.
After the show, everyone made a mad dash to the merch counter. It was at that time where harlock & co. decided to stick around, with hopes of what we thought would be the small chance of getting a glance of someone from gogo. After a while, just before the staff was going to kick us out....Turkey walked right past us! I was like "ohshi-". I turned to Ping and said "would it be messed up to ask Turkey where Yumi and Akko were? kekeke". Not knowing how Turkey would react to us bomb barding him while he packed his gear, we quietly approached him. He as actually very nice and seemed quite adamant towards giving us his autograph. :D Afterwards, we continued to loiter about, still hoping to catch a glimpse of Yuu-chan and/or Akko. As we walked through the bar in the front, my eye came across a few people talking. Sure enough, one of them was Yuu-chan. In my head, I was like "ARARAAHHHGOWDJO:NMROVROJLNLSD OMG YUU!!!" but I knew I had to keep calm, and avoid fainting. I then violently gestured to my sister to get her ass back into the bar!! Trying not be rude and interrupting her conversation, we crept up slowly. After less than a minute, she stopped and turned to us, obviously noticing that there were three people floating around her, one of which was desperately holding back a massive nervous breakdown. She stood up as we asked for an autograph, which she more than happily did. We then got pictures taken with her~. I noticed that when you finally meet someone of whom you've idolized (and been in love with), you can't help but put a stupid face on. At least, that was the case for me. This was the least stupid face I could possibly of made at this moment. Honestly, I'm glad I managed to keep my eyes from going bugeyed and foaming at the mouth. (http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/8861/meyuu2ma5.th.jpg) (http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=meyuu2ma5.jpg) Note: omg, yuu-chan is smiling! x_x
(http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/6130/mesisyuucroppedxj8.th.jpg) (http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mesisyuucroppedxj8.jpg) Note: I try to crouch down to yuu's level, while my sister is notably shorter than her! bwahahaah *gets slapped by sister* @_o
Afterward, we went outside to get some air (and because I was about to either faint, or throw up.) As soon as we composed ourselves, Akko comes outside! X_X We then scurried along to where Akko had planted herself to smoke a cig. We then got autographs and pics~. While she was signing mine, she (in japanese) said it was cold and I (in japanese) agreed. (zomg, actual conversation with Akko!!!) This time, it was Akko that made the silly face: (http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/2792/dsc03270jy4.th.jpg) (http://img299.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc03270jy4.jpg)
The spoils: (http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/6861/hpim0860fa7.th.jpg) (http://img299.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim0860fa7.jpg)(http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/6314/hpim0863nq8.th.jpg) (http://img117.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim0863nq8.jpg)(http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/2726/hpim0864pd3.th.jpg) (http://img117.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim0864pd3.jpg) (Turkey wrote his on the back)
and now for the Pièce de Résistance! As a testament to how close I was (even after toughing it through crazy HY fangirls) -> (http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/240/hpim0859lr1.th.jpg) (http://img143.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim0859lr1.jpg) GO!GO!7188's set list, which I shamelessly jacked from the stage as soon as they got off. (which was not much of a physical feat, as I was within arm's length of it to begin with).
So there you have it, greatest night of my life!.
(Also, I've made my photobucket public in case anyone wants to see the rest of the pics) http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v469/harlock3333/GOGO7188/

If you follow the link, you can see a couple videos I took from that night. http://hitorijime.net/log/2007_03_14/gogo7188-japan-nite/
There's someone posting all of gogo's songs from that night on youtube, but the A/V sync is really really bad, and their not as close as I was until C7, which was the encore song. If you find the C7 clip, you can see me taking pictures on top of harlock's head.

Great pics Harlock. I was also at the show. I was about 10 tiny Japanese girls back from where you were stationed. Plenty close enough to see everything but far enough back to not set off my wifes claustrophobia from being packed like sardines.
It really was a great show from start to finish. We didn't hang around after the show as we were beat and I never have nerve to approach the musicians I admire. I'm quite jealous!
Anyway. I set up a flickr of the night. My pics are not as cool as yours but give a slightly different perspective. (You may even see the back of your head in some!)

End of post will have the sampler cd they were giving out if you wanna hear these bands~
Just got back from the Japan Bash tent show from SXSW, a bit of a promotional show for the actual Japan Nite show at SXSW that I'm just 2 months too young to go to. I showed up with Joe and two other friends a couple hours early, where we got to hear Oreska Band do their sound check... i hadn't heard anything from them before, and i was instantly hooked at their awesomeness.
Peelander-Z came out in their silly outfits and did a short comedy bit, they were the MCs for the show, and they introduced all the acts before they came on.
First was Oreska Band, an all-girl sextet of high school classmates (well, actually, they just graduated high school two weeks ago), and they're a really awesome ska band like Yum!Yum!Orange. The trombone player, Leader, has a pink trombone too~ and she's cuuute~ And they all rock out hardcore and they're were an awesome high-energy opener.
After Oreska Band came this weird avant-garde group called Nekomushi. The lead singer wore a kimono and a fox mask and played accordion and the music was... weird. The acoustic guitar player spent the entire first song throwing paper airplanes into the audience, and at one song the singer stepped out into the crowd and started being... weird. She then came to Joe and whispered something into his ear... and joe got down on his knees and she climbed on his back and he stood up and walked her around the audience for a bit before bringing her back on stage.
Next was the act i came to the show for... GO!GO!7188. First Akko came onto stage. I had positioned myself at the VERY front, two inches from the stage, right in front of where Yuu-chan was going to be. And then up came Yuu-chan... I totally freaked out, nearly fainted right there.... I mean, it was YUU-CHAN, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! Peelander-Z introduced them, and said "AND THEY'RE LOOKING FOR BOYFRIENDS~!! WHO WANTS TO BE HER BOYFRIEND?" and pointed to Yuu-chan to which i just let it all loose and nearly passed out again. Yumi was so close to me i could touch her without even reaching my arm out all the way. They started off with Jet Ninjin, and from there it was just pure euphoria. They were just so... amazing. When Yuu went to do solos she stepped up even closer to me which was just too much to handle. After the set I was able to get pics with akko and yuu, and their autographs, but we werent able to get to Turkey before they left D: Next were the Emeralds which i missed 'cause i was hunting down Go!Go!7188 at this time.
After them, there was a surprise appearance by the uber-hawt Pistol Valve that played a song while Asakusa Jinta set up... so cool and so sexy....
And then came Asakusa Jinta... they were also very very amazing. They're just as har described them. They incorporated japanese tongue twisters into their show, as a sort of audience participation thing, and just my luck, i had to memorize the very same tongue twisters a couple weeks ago for my Japanese class so i was able to repeat them back xD The sax player was also very cute, she kept looking at me and smiling; and the bass player stood up on his bass and started doing a solo just STANDING ON HIS BASS, it was awesome. So awesome, in fact, I'm seeing them again this weekend.
I'm sure I'll add more stuff when it all begins to sink in... and I don't think I said "awesome" enough in this post so....
awesome.
Pics and vids to follow when they come up, Joe and one of my other friends had the cameras, not me~

Asakusa Jinta did tongue twisters when I saw them. The Emeralds rap/sing thing sounds like tongue twisters since it's so fast.

I'll post this before I forget things, in order of appearance.
Asakusa Jinta, bad ass. High energy and unique sound. They did a lot of audience participation, dancing, and tongue twisters, quite fun. The sax player is very cute, she waved and smiled a lot to the crowd, and yes, like the others, I stared at her legs. The bass dude's bass is just awesome. They were really, really good. tenkei picked up their cd, ask him for rips, lol.
The 50 Kaitenz, very funny. They had awesome hair and hella tight nuthuggers. They made weird faces and made the crowd laugh a lot. They played quite a number of songs. The crowd was kind of boring, though. There were a few people to my left who were really enjoying them, but the rest was just not moving much. My legs started hurting.
Oreskaband, wow really cute! They had a lot of energy and also did a lot of audience participation. They're from Osaka so they did a lesson on how to do the "nandeyanen~." "This is pen." "Nandeyanen~!" Stuff like that. They were trying to explain with their broken English and laughed at each other when they knew it didn't make sense. During one song, which I do not know the name of, they asked everyone to sit down and then jump when they said so. So they said jump and everyone went nuts, which was nice, because the crowd's energy picked up after that. Just perfect for the next band.
GO!GO!7188, what can I say? its fuckin GO!GO! Ah what a dream come true to see my favorite band play in front of me. I was on Akko's side, but was gradually moved to the middle because the crowd was going insane. Though it was good, Yumi went to the middle on the solo to Jet Ninjin. They did a new song which I didn't catch the name. It was pretty awesome though, sounded like the creepy GO!GO! with the choppy guitar lines and Yuu singing in such ways. During the song some random fool climbed on me and another guy to try to stage dive. But when he got on the stage he got all confused and just jumped back to where he was before. No one caught him. In the MC before the new song Yuu said, "Be careful... don't bite?/vibe?/fight?" But everyone was kind of confused. She meant to say don't push. The crowd calmed down after that, lol. Thank you Yumi, I was about to die. Bastards came out of nowhere and started pushing. They ended the set with Bungu and after that it was all over. I could only wish for a longer set. After GO!GO!, tenkei and I left the crowd and bought merch. There were no more GO!GO! shirts at their table, so I was disappointed, but I did buy a cd for them so sign. Akko came out looking for their merch table, but I stopped her to get an autograph, then people just swarmed her. Few moments later Turkey came out and I stopped him for an autograph. After a while Yumi came out, but I could not approach her! So tenkei went first, lol. We gave her one of those clicky sharpies to sign with but I guess she wasn't used to them and accidentally marked her hand with it and actually lol'd. It was like the cutest thing.
Pistol Valve, sexy! Wasn't really close to them, but we were jammin to the music while at the merch tables. They took long to sound check because of the number of instruments. But after they started everyone seemed to enjoy them, even the people back at the merch table and bar. They also did a lot of audience participation. I went back to into the crowd because they want just my big Fo-Fo. It was one of the trumpet players' birthday so everyone sang her a happy birthday.
HY, last of the night. HY had many fans. They were actually perfect to close it out, good energy, and the crowd was great. On the last few songs a couple Pistol Valve girls were jumping around toward the back of the crowd enjoying the HY. I had to join them. And in a hilarious feat, the tuba player from Asakusa Jinta rushed to the stage all the way from their merch table at the back of the room. He actually made it to the front and I found that very funny. They did 3 of my favorites in a row, that was nice. They also got the encore.
Awesome awesome show. Everyone had their share of trying English, many admitted they sucked at it. All the bands were fuckin great.
Streak you should have went. There was this dude who sat there by the line asking for tickets, he made a sign and everything. These two girls finally sold/gave him two. That dude, was lucky as hell. Pics and such tomorrow maybe, tenkei had the camera.
Edit: Some crappy vids. It's all sideways for some reason.. lol. http://boykun.vox.com/library/videos/

After reading boykun's post I really really wish I went... -___-
I wasn't even in the area at the time. I was coming home with my family from my little trip to the boonies of central CA... instead of cute girls and bands I saw cows and fruit groves... I was hoping we were going to leave in the morning but my sister was lagging and we didn't end up going home till late in the afternoon. We got home probably about the time the show was over... -___-
I knew I would've been able to get a ticket if I tried...
Nice haul though!!!
Hopefully next time!!! if there is a next time...

New single June 28th 『真夏のダンスホール/アイムラッキーガール/できもの』 (Manatsu no Dance Hall/I'm Lucky Girl/Dekimono) 2007.06.28 RELEASE [初回限定盤(CD+DVD)] BVCR-19088/9 \1,575(tax in.) [通常盤(CD)] BVCR-19087 \1,260(tax in.) http://www.breast.co.jp/gogo7188/tour2007.html http://www.hotexpress.co.jp/news/070419_557188/
Triple a-side and DVD. Unprecedented release from GO!GO!. Definitely different coming from them. Heading more mainstream, perhaps? I'm Lucky Girl was the new song they did at Japan Nite in LA. Akko seems to be using more English, and going by how I'm Lucky Girl sounded, it looks like they're experimenting again. They switched from Toshiba EMI to BMG Japan. This will be their first release under BMG Japan. I don't know about the new label, but I liked Toshiba EMI. All their DVD releases are region free. http://www.bmgjapan.com/_artist/info.php?id=2225

Single previews http://www.bmgjapan.com/gogo7188/item.php?id=2225&item=7934
Manatsu no dance hall sounds quite promising. I already love I'm Lucky Girl from Japan Nite. Dekimono sounds like Yuu and Akko's solo stuff put together. And Yuu is playing an acoustic. I can only think of one other song where she did that. Interesting nonetheless. Seems like it's gonna be a pretty solid single.

I see that people are talking about GO!GO!7188 coming back to New York, but I wasn't sure if anyone mentioned yet that they are also hitting up Chicago and Bethlehem, PA. The Bethlehem concert is a big musicfest too, so it is free.
I'm going to the New York one myself and I really recommend it for anyone who didn't see them last time they were there. The Knitting Factory is really small and you can really get close to the band. I was in the very front last time and it was amazing. Plus GO!GO!7188 hung out in the lobby afterward and I managed to talk to them a bit and get autographs (and Akko's bass pick!). It's only 10 bucks for tickets now, so it's super reasonable too!

K, so I'm not into Peelanzer Z. All I knew was that they're crazy and their shows are nuts. Indeed, they were fucking nuts. There was human bowling, dive bombing off of amps, crowd surfing, and plenty of "audience participation". Peelanzer Z literally kicked my ass. If you get to chance to see them live, go. It's definitely an interesting show (bring a towel).
After the madness, it was time for GOGO. Having been there the last time, I already knew sorta what to expect. Interestingly enough, I ended up in -exactly- the same spot that I was in at the last show. o-o Long story short, they came out, they rawked, I was like "<333", and all was right with the world. Time for pics:
(yeah, there are a lot more Yu-chan pics than Akko pics. Biased? I call it "Love", my friend)
It was a bit harder to get autographs/pics this time around, since everyone was crowding around them after the show :/ With some determination, success! (Pay no mind to my dorkiness) (http://img478.imageshack.us/img478/7818/hpim1248gd2.th.jpg) (http://img478.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim1248gd2.jpg)(http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/1682/hpim1253yu2.th.jpg) (http://img67.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim1253yu2.jpg)
There was a pretty significant crowd around Yu-chan for pics and whatnot. Turkey, on the other hand, was a lot easier to get to (especially considering that he was in the corner drinking a beer, with barely anyone around him...).
(http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/6599/hpim1256an9.th.jpg) (http://img46.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim1256an9.jpg)(http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5053/hpim1254ks4.th.jpg) (http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim1254ks4.jpg) That's Akko's pick, btw. \o/ I also picked up a t-shirt, it's the one that Akko's wearing.
All in all, it was just as amazing seeing GOGO the 2nd time as it was the 1st. It's all still so surreal, considering I went from assuming I'd never be able to see my favorite band live -ever-, to coming back from seeing them the 2nd time, having pictures taken with them and whatnot. Hopefully the success of this show will lead to more trips back to the USA~~~

I was also at the GO!GO!7188 show at the Knitting Factory. I totally remember seeing you harlock! The show was amazing and I can definitely label it as the best day of my life.
I was really impressed at how much English Akko and Yuu have learned since their last US Tour. When I saw them last time they were in NYC Akko could barely say one sentence in English, but this time they all did the entire emcee segment in English. It was pretty impressive.
I ended up getting Yuu's guitar pick this time (last time I got Akko's so now I have a matching set!) so that was really awesome. But my favorite moments were when I actually got to interact with the band. I waited a really long time to talk to Akko, but it was totally worth it. I told her in Japanese that she was my favorite bass guitarist in the whole world. She replied with "wow the world is a big place huh?" Heh. Then I asked her to do a silly face in a picture with me. And then I fullfilled my life-long dream of doing respect knuckles with Akko. She didn't know what I was talking about at first, probably because I said 'respect knuckles' in English and the rest in Japanese. But when I held out my fist she immediately understood and was like "YEAH!" and pounded with me. It was amazing.
By the time I went over to Yuu there really wasn't anyone around her. I figured it was because she is really short and hard to spot and that she sorta gives of a less enthused aura than Akko. There was this one big guy talking to her in English and was apparently under the impression that if he talked slow enough and with enough force behind his words she would somehow understand him. Instead Yuu looked a little scared and really confused. So I walked up and repeated what he had just said in Japanese to Yuu. She was really releived that I could speak Japanese and I ended up standing next to her and translating for about 15 minutes. It was amazing!!! Every time she didn't understand something she would edge a little closer to me and look up at me with these confused eyes. I very nearly melted into a big fangirly puddle. I ended up getting a silly picture with her too. I totally wouldn't have had the guts to ask for it if I hadn't talked to her for 15 minutes.
So yeah, I had a really effing amazing time too. I uploaded a zip file of all the pics I took here. There are some videos in there too, but they don't have sound cause my camera sucks. So if you want even more GO!GO! pics feel free to download it.

Haha, it's cool harlock. I'm far from fluent myself. I've only been studying Japanese for a year now. Yuu was talking about simple concepts, so it was simple enough to translate what she was saying. It was mostly stuff like what she liked in New York compared to Tokyo (she thinks that New York has cooler buildings), where she hoped to live one day (Kyoto apparently) and if they were thinking about doing another US tour sometimes soon (no plans currently). It's really not impressive that I was able to translate what she was saying. But it was really cool to be able to do that much!

Quite the good album I'd say. It kind of has a bit of a mainstream sound, but there's also some experimenting, like the metal track. That was unexpected. There was a good number of songs that immediately caught my ear at first listen. It's made a better impression on me than the last two albums. So far my favorites are 地球最後の日, アンテナ, and 食わずギライ.

In case people have been waiting to hear about it... the new Go!Go! album (titled, an eye-twisting "Go!! GO!GO! Go!!") is, of course, great. There's some songs with the more old-fashioned Debut-era GO!GO! style (DokuNoRingo), Turkey-sung Rockabilly feelgood (365 Renkyu Boogie), Chaotic food songs (Sugar and Spice), and about half the songs are what I think of the modern GO!GO! style. It's always hard for me to stop listening to the LAST GO!GO! album long enough to listen to the new one (*cough*except when Antenna came out following the sub-par 569) but anybody who has liked any era of GO!GO! will be well-served by this album.

The GO!GO!7188 figures will actually be cute bobble-head figures. All three members, Yuu, Akko, and Turkey, will get a figure, and the company is making sure to pay special attention to the guitars and basses on the models to get all the fine details correct.

Rock band GO!GO!7188 is getting its first tribute album on March 16, titled "GO!GO!7188 TRIBUTE - GO!GO! A GO!GO!" The album will feature covers performed by 10 artists: bloodthirsty butchers, detroit7, Flower Companyz, MONGOL800, opening, POLYSICS, Ataru Nakamura, THE NEATBEATS, Shonen Knife, and George Tokoro.
Details about the album's tracklist will be announced at a later date.
Last year, GO!GO!7188 celebrated the 10th anniversary of its major label debut. The band is currently taking a break due to bassist Akko's pregnancy, but in the meantime, vocalist Yuu has revived her band Chirinuruwowaka.

Today it was announced that GO!GO!7188’s vocalist and guitarist Nakashima Yumi, also known as Yuu, has decided to withdraw from the band. This decision consequently lead to the disbandment of GO!GO!7188.
Sad times. Along with Tokyo Jihen(who is also disbanding) GO!GO!7188 is my favorite bands. Lots of rockin' music, and they were awesome live. To be honest though, I completely understand Yuu's reason. They've gotten stale the past two albums or so. But it still sucks to see them go. Just glad I got to see them on stage now.

My sentiments exactly, boykun. Tokyo Jihen was enough of a shock, but to have GO!GO!7188, my favorite band, break up too.....ugh. Although I'm sooooo majorly bummed about this, you're right about their most recent releases being somewhat lacking. This makes me even more grateful that I was able to see them live a couple times, might have to frame their set list I got and make a mini shrine in the corner of my room (with candles).

How did I miss this news?? This is so sad. I do look forward to whatever Yuu does next but guhh... Even with the past few releases not quite being as great as those before, their music is always pretty great for me. I suppose it was only a matter of time, but.. Excuse me while I hide for the rest of the day with their music on repeat. haha :(
