It seems some of you have missed the mention in a the "Replacements for Rapidshare (http://www.miumu.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=26032&mforum=jpmx#26032)" thread so I'll say it again:

Make your own account. People can download without an account. Password protect directories, etc. and well the good thing is:
UNLIMITED UPLOADS! UNLIMITED DOWNLOADS! UNLIMITED SPACE!
PLUS they don't delete your shit
I've been playing around with it in The Hello! Project Photobook Thread (http://www.miumu.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=144&mforum=jpmx) and uploaded Rika's Grad DVD and Viyuden DVD Pamphlet (that's 950 MB in 5 hours @ about 50 kbp/s) in THE RIVE (http://www.miumu.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=15&mforum=jpmx) and will begin archiving FLETS episodes in THE ASSHOLE (http://www.miumu.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=13&mforum=jpmx).
The possibilties are endless. Sounds too good to be true I know. But, we can make a database of PVs, albums, TV shows, etc similar to what we've done in The PB Thread and sorta what we did for THE RIKA ISHIKAWA GRADUATION PROJECT. Except this time, no more "LINK IS DEAD" complaints! :D
If you want to upload MP3's then you better ZIP or RAR them just in case. :halo:

Yeah. Here is some tips I learned: Don't DL other things while using this service cuz the DL speed will crap out. Example. DL from File Front and BT at the same time!!
Also. Resume makes the file useless. It calls up different servers at different times so resuming would make the file corrupt. I learned the hard way with Masa's BIG ASS Viyuden Pamphlet and a little 50 Cent trailer. Both fucked up when I resumed!

I still get around speeds of 50-60 KB/s even with my torrents on (though the once I have right now are kinda slow because of the seed - leecher ratio)
Anyway, I tried downloading 3 filefront files at the same time. the last one I added gave me speeds of 3 KB/s so I just restarted it after the other 2 finished, well its back to 50-60 KB/s :)
So overall not so bad, my average wait time was less than 1 minute for each of the servers I tried.

Aha! I had the same problem than daigong. I was using BT and the d/l from FF was between 3kb and 4kb.... :evil:

Hm, filefront is giving me between 5KB/s and 120KB/s... waiting time on the servers is also up.
They might need to add servers... :D

Has anyone been able to get a decent speed off filefront in the last few days? For me files download at around 1.5k/sec, sometimes the speed is too slow to measure.
Is there maybe a time of day when you get better speeds?
Last night when I went to bed I had to cancel a download (it'd done 17mb in FOUR FRIGGIN' HOURS!) because I wanted to shut my pc down and get a good nights sleep.

I find DLs from FF work better/best if I don't have any other DLs going (i.e.torrents, YSI, etc.). Maybe that's part of the deal. They also seem to DL faster if I just let them go and let my comp be "idle" for a while. If I'm surfing or doing work it doesn't go as fast.

Bah, my line is constently at 60% (or higher) upload because of the BT's... can't really minimise that (yet, catching up on some Hello Mornings's :) )
But I am getting some speeds upto 75KB/s (or as low as 5KB/s), its more how the server is loaded it looks like, because the speed can fluctuate from 70 to 5 within the same download within a few minutes.
Some servers also do not answer at times, then when you take a different one its works.
(no real complaints, its free :) )

I just started getting that error a few hours ago too. Might be something wrong with their upload server at the moment.

I couldnt access filefront yesterday, it kept having an error. But, today is fine. The bad thing about filefront is that the speed for me starts at about 134.00 Kbps, but while it downloads something or uploads the speed starts decreasing until it gets to 00.1 Kbps. :evil:

Yeah....the uploading had been fucked up since last nite. I been trying all nite to up like a 560 MB file and it keeps crapping out. Gonna try it again overnite but smaller files finally were working this evening. :evil:

downloading finally worked this evening. like frblckstr1 says: as long as its free, I can't complaing. and BONUS files from 2 weeks ago are still up.
REMEMBER!! Don't write "DVD" or "The Latest Album from _______" that screams piracy. The descriptions can be written in the forum.

Things are working today (the day I have to go to work :evil: )...my upload speeds are incredibly fast, but I can't imagine something this good lasting throughout the summer without a catch popping up.
EDIT - uploading fucked me over again....ah well, looks like a hit or miss site in terms of uploading, but downloading from it seems pretty good.

The same seems to be true for uploads. I kid you not, I just UL'ed the short version of Maki's new PV in The Asshole. I paused the torrents I had going, left my comp alone and it UP'ed at a speed varying between 290-320 Kpbs. I SWEAR TO GOD IT'S TRUE!!! It was done in 20 minutes (at the most, I wasn't really timing it).
So if you wanna UL something huge, I'd recommend letting it go overnight, WITHOUT any other DLs/ULs going at the same time. No torrents, no nothing. Just let it run overnight. Come morning, it should be done.

I think it might have more todo with how your ISP/modem/wathever between you and FileFront is doing things, because I am now:
- reading (posting :) ) on JPM-XXX
- downloading from filefront at 260KB/s,
- downloading from ohbashan at 230KB/s
- have 4 torrent active (1 downloading at 28KB/s, uploading at 60KB/s)...
(this is on a ADSL line: 8Mb/s down, 1Mb/s up)

I actually did email them this afternoon when it looked like everything when down the toilet, and yes, I actually did mention the DL speeds. As to whether or not they'll actually reply to me, who knows? :P :P :P

OK, I officially do not like FF.
I was uploading a 200+MB Sonim file (re-up from the asshole thread) and:
1) it broke off at the end
2) it told me the file was already there?? (not under my account)
3) it blocked me upping the share rate on BT during this (was downloading the hello ep.)

Get this dude: I upped Sexy Onna 3 and just like when it said "1 minute left" it PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED. Sad. I looked at my file list and it wasn't there. I upped something smaller like 20 MB and it did the same!
Usually when files are finished upping you get "Enter file details" right?
Well fuckin like an hour later - the file just appeared. re-appeared. whatever! it was done!! it was uploaded!!
I'm going to take a break from uploading on FF until shit gets stable tho.

EXACTLY the problem I was having when I began using it. Like I said, I expect this to be a hit or miss service as long as it's free and unlimited. There's always some kind of catch to something so good...
Yeah. it's just the best shit we had EVER. Better than Photobucket, better than Imageshack. We shouldn't be complaining and just exploit it as much as we can while the goings good ROFL

I actually emailed them about my stats being reset. Tech support did reply the day after. :) Though I have only uploaded a 15 MB rar after that. Well the small file worked :)

I don't know if you've been having the same problem but when I upload a file, when it finishes, the page never reloads and stays there "connecting" forever. So basically, even when I spent an hour uploading, the files doesn't finish uploading.

It's probably a good idea not to have "DVD" or "new single" or something like that in the filename. Use your brains when choosing a filename. :P

Were the filenames of the files uploaded telling with words like 'DVD' or 'rip' or 'single' or whatever? Coz the silly thing about FF is that the names of the files uploaded is blatantly displayed out for all to see. >_<
Think what daigong says is very true. Just try signing up for another account again and thereafter, zip/rar all your files up. Be as obscure as possible with your file-naming. Say : "MM_S1" for Morning Musume's first single or "IRPB_1" for Rika's 1st PB or "MAG_1" for the first DVD magazine that you're uploading or something like that.
In the information sections, just fill in the same thing which you named your zipfile as. FF shouldn't have any issues then.
Just avoid, at all costs, using terms like "DVD", "MP3", "VDO", "TV", or any such terms. That's like feeding them a target to attack for deletion. >_<
And as a further suggestion : If you want to keep track of the files that you have uploaded and named in whatever funny way, maybe zip a '.txt' file up of the list of files that you've uploaded together with their FF filenames. Put in a description or whatever else you want to fully identify/describe the tidbit that you've uploaded, zip the '.txt' file up and upload onto FF. Name that 'LIST' or something so whoever that wants to dl anything off your account can download that list first, see what you've got, identify the FF filename for the file that they want and progress with their downloading from there.
In the face of all this, I am really VERY blessed. So far at least. Coz I just checked my accounts ( Yes, I have 2 with FF and I actually told Jeff from FF Support about it and he hasn't done anything about it. :P ) and they are both still functioning. :oops:

PS : I hope that they aren't banning IP addresses. >_< But I guess if you can get on the FF page and dl from any of the active accounts, think you're quite safe-ish??

I dont think they ban IP addresses, some people have reported that they just opened a new account after their first account got locked :)

Maybe they have yet to lock me out because I haven't uploaded shit in a while. Watch I get locked out once I upload these Gospeller albums.
It's pretty fucking stupid that they're offering this service, only to NOT be discerning about who they're locking out and why. Has anyone complained to customer support or their forum yet?
As far as I know, nothing that WE are sharing is illegal under ANY of the Western Hemisphere's jurisdiction, so whaddup wit da bullshit, yo? :lol:

Did you have any other DL's/UL's (torrents, YSI, etc) going at the same time that you were trying to use FF? If so, then of course it will take longer. FF works best when you don't have anything else going on your computer (at least it does for me). Whenever I DL/UL something on FF, I pause all my torrents (and whatever else I got going) so it goes as quickly as possible. And aside from that scare a few weeks ago when they were tweaking they're systems and all my files disappeared (for noobs, they did reappear afterwards), FF has never given me any troubles.

One trick that I do for ULing files is use a different browser. Ever since I got Firefox I almost never use IE anymore. Now when you UL something with FF, it gives you the "do not browse away from this screen" thing with the little status bar to show how your UL is progressing. Since I use Firefox as my everyday browser, if I want to UL something to FF I do it on IE, minimize the IE window and just leave it alone. Then I go back to Firefox and continue with my normal browsing. It's just a little trick to ensure that I don't mess up or accidentally stall/shut down my UL.

If the file is copyrighted in a country that is a member of the world trade organization, then that copyright is valid in all other member states. Ripping japanese music and tv and sharing it over the internet is just as illegal as doing the same with RIAA and MPAA properties. The difference is that because this issue is a civil dispute the owner of the copyright must initiate the legal proceedings. Japanese companies are unlikely to prosecute because it is a very costly procedure that is unlikely to deter pirating in America or Japan, but that doesn't make it any less illegal.

Holy crap....has anyone seen the changes made to FileFront?
Now it's much easier to edit your file info, move and/or delete them, and to create sub directories.
The downside that I can see is that they apparently reset the number of downloads from my account. Majority of my files were D/Led over 30 times, but now apparently, the most people downloading were 5 people.
Whatever....FileFront is looking better, now I can organize my shit (well, once I start uploading again). :lol:

You know what dude? When I had that panic attack when I thought I'd lost all the stuff I'd UL'ed to them, my "hosted" screen looked pretty much like yours does now (http://hosted.filefront.com/daigong). Now I'm not trying to raise anyone's hopes here. I'm just saying that it looks like what I got when it looked like my shit was gone, but then came back a few days later.
EDIT: I just checked to see if my files were still up. I tried DLing one of them and on the screen was a little box with this:

Anyway, I think it they majorly 'cleaned house' after the revamp coz the last time I looked, FileFront was hosting terabytes worth of files. When I looked after daigong bitched about getting booted, it was down to gigabytes. Do the math yourself and figure just how many people got their butts kicked out of FileFront in a day...
But the place is filling up pretty fast again coz it's back in the terabyte region now even as I'm typing this... :P Oh well... It's free.
