A 73-year-old bar manager who illegally performed copyrighted tunes by the Beatles and other artists on the harmonica was arrested Thursday on suspicion of violating the Copyright Law, police said.

'The hell?
I'm pretty damn sure people didn't start thinking "Oh is that an original song he made up himself?". It's The Beatles, for crying out loud! Pick a few random people off the street and they could probably hum a tune to one of their songs.
That's so stupid....

I wonder what would they do to karaoke bars? after all, you get a lot of people singing copyrighted songs each night, and I don't remember having permission from Bruce Springsteen to sing The River last time I went to a karaoke place... should I worry I will be arrested?
-
^ true.
wtf are this people are thinking, Beatles already gone! And the dude who play the harmonica also already old, didn't you feel a pity to him? wth, corrupted policeman...
-
not really a problem of corrupted policemen.. more like greedy multi-billion corporations..
-
Aren't some songs on Karaoke machines licensed? I've seen songs, which have the actual music video with the lyrics superimposed on top.
Not only that, the company behind the video/software clearly advertises itself on each track!
-
as someone who willingly and gladly engages in copyright infringement via sampling, this is ridiculous...the music business needs to check themselves...
-
That's really cruel. It wasn't like he was meaning to steal the song or something. Shouldn't they be coming after music stealers like us instead?
-
That is fucking ridiculous.
-
LOL I think this is too much, poor old guy
-
i dont think its fair... hes not selling the song just performing them.
-
wat the hell, another ridiculous law which i never heard before. Then police should arrest all the bar performers lah, since they also sing a song created by others, or arrest the idols. Stupid police.
