Plans are underway for Tokyo to have the worlds highest tower at 610meters in Sumida City.
They plan to have it built and fully functional by 2011, when analog TV broadcasting finishes. Even though the old Tokyo Tower will cease to function as a TV tower, it's still going to be around to look pretty.

They just can't stand the fact that Canadians can honestly say we have the largest freestanding erection in the world, can they?

Its so freakin tall.

Compensation, perhaps?
(Hey, somebody was going to say it sooner or later.)

Nobody cares about Canada.XD They just want an excuse to do a sequel to the eponymous movie.

if its about erections, the japanese men have to make up for shortcomings biologically by making something like this ;)
-
or is Japan making another tower for the terrorist as a target???
but lol... I will definitely go and take a visit once it is done

So if Japanese women had anything to say about it, it would have been the Tokyo Tunnel instead?

Ok that just ruined the joke.

That is so pretty, I really like the blue bits :)
It's a shame Godzilla movies aren't made anymore, he could break it.
-
are they rebuilding/renovating it or making a whole new one?
-
^ they gonna make a whole new one

what the fuck

don't they get something called earthquake there? i dunno how advanced modern tech is, but i figure it'll be hard to keep the motion in check during earthquake for it to not fall down/crumble..

of course the designers had include the factor "earthquake" in it while designing the tower. According to what I read on other news the tower will be structurally build similar to those five-storied pagodas you see in Japan. I have no idea how it will work (since I'm not a architect or engineer) but the news mention something of individual structure of floor and balance...
someone back me up with more facts on this please!
:D

tg will probably come in and drop a shit load of knowledge about this.:P Let 'em know!
