Anyone watching this? It goes on I believe from Dec 1st through the 15th... It looks awesome, like an olympics just for Asia. I'd kill to see some sprinting footage!
-
Yeah, I watch it from time to time. China's athletes are AWESOME!!
-
This is the 1st I've heard of it! How big is it in Asia?
-
LOL, well it's HUGE!! It's just liked you said, it's basically the Asian Olympics. They also have a lot of sports you rarely get to see competed at a sports competition, namely Sepak Takraw (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepak_Takraw) and Chess.
-
This is my first time seeing this too. I'd really like to see footage from the martial arts competitions(TKD, Karate, Judo, etc)
-
Man, I wish there was a way to tape the show for you guys it's just impossible to do so but there are some clips up on Youtube if you're interested. Judo's (http://forum.jphip.com/DOHA%20games%20judo) the only one I've found though..

SUPER HIGH TENSION DOHA CORRESPONDENT HUGGUM さゆみのラブマシーンWUGGUMS!!!
are the track & field events popular? hmm, i wonder how the asian sprinters compete.....
-
the chinese are conquering the medals...
and the second are japan right???
-
They're 3rd at the moment, Korea's 2nd and I think this is because they have 2 extra gold medals since Japan has more points.

LOL, well I guess it's the most popular sport at every competition so I don't think it's any different in DOHA, people love it short and sweet.
As for the Asian sprinters, I don't think they're as fast as the others in the world, but they are still exciting to watch. I didn't get to watch the 100m sprints though.
I got to watch the 400m Women's Hurdles the other day and China had this HUGE athlete (http://www.doha-2006.com/gis/SPORTS/CO/IGCOParticipantInfo.aspx?Register=5801078) and she was skipping the obstacles as if they were nothing.

Asian Games kick Olympics ass! The sports are much more interesting to me. With all the martial arts and sepak takraw.
With AG, China's always at #1. Been that way since like forever? Japan's usually at #2, but they're getting challanged by S. Korea.
Thai team doesn't get as many golds as we've expected. Those athletes we expected them to get golds, most of them couldn't get it. Most of our golds came from unexpected sports. :/
btw, did anyone watch the opening ceremony? It got much praise but it bored me to death! I want more singing and dancing, dammit! Less historical stuff!

i read someone died
-
Yes, from horseriding. There was an accident and his horse fell on him, I think.

-
Yeap, 1st-15th.
-
LOL! Yeah they do meow, but they show no footage here either! and I keep forgetting to flip to the Chinese channel for clips. look, Kazakhstan is 4th!
Finally this thread gets made, I was too lazy to get the Asians to make it.
ROFL, they have chess too hugg? How about catching flies with chopsticks?
That's how it's all the time!! The let their hair down during the closing ceremonies, bringing out local celebs or some crap.
GO CHINA!! 6-10 Hurdler and our Trannie swimmers!
-
I supporting SINGAPORE!!!
-
I had a chance to catch some of the Asian games while I was in China a few months ago, I had no idea what it was but it's actually pretty cool.
China won the 15th with 316 medals!! Korea and Japan had 193 and 198, respectively.

Whoa wait, so that's a GUY?
-
I thought it's a 800m event, well, it doesn't matter. It's quite embarassing really. The thing is the Indian government still awarded her/him the prize money of $33,430 on humanitarian grounds.
