The excellent wiki at http://wiki.theppn.org which includes heaps of H!P info seems to have been down for several days. Does anyone know what the problem is? Has it been taken down altogether?
I see that the forum where I first learned about wiki.theppn (Morning Musume BBS) seems to have closed down and the link redirects to the Japanese section of US YesAsia. Hmmmm... I hope that never happens to JPHiP !!!

Hum. I seen it's been down recently too. It sucks, I usually go there to find single/albums tracklists, and now I gotta look at other places that haven't updated in a while. =/

I know they mentioned something about problems with pictures that had recently been uploaded, and that was a few days ago, maybe Sunday/Monday.
But I don't know if that's really the reason why the site is down now.

Pretty much anytime you can't access it, assume it is down, and not your end.

It was ok a few days ago, although I noticed a problem with the pictures (I had to re-upload a picture for the flets page which had become a dead link). Theppn forum (http://forum.theppn.org/index.php) is still working so it's not the host that's at fault. Nobodys posted about it there yet so I just posted something asking what's happened to the wiki.

MM-BBS isn't down. They just changed their URL, it now ends with " .org " whereas before it was " .com ".

Theppn forum (http://forum.theppn.org/index.php) is still working so it's not the host that's at fault.
I always thought Womby was hosting the wiki separately to the forum.

Like most, I tend to rely on the wiki for track lists.

Thanks for that info! I assumed it had just gone. I used to spend some time there, but when I found JPHiP I guess my limited online time got refocused; but those guys helped me a heap in my early JPHiP days. I just went back and it seems they have cleaned it out a lot - all the old stuff and even my log-in was gone (guess I hadn't posted there in a long time)

Everyone had to re-register pretty recently when it started on the new domain.

An answer at last!
At last, I have some information about this: maybe it's already old news and has been posted elsewhere, but in case not...
DarkScorpion on mm-bbs.org has recently posted a very complete explanation of why wiki.theppn.org and also (in case anyone hasn't noticed) the projecthello lyrics site are down at present, and have been for a while. The post is right here (http://www.mm-bbs.org/index.php?s=&showtopic=862&view=findpost&p=25515) but for those who just want the main points, it seems there were a series of crashes and HDD related issues combined with an ISP being down for a while; it seems that most of everything was saved (with the exception of the images off the wiki, apparently) and will be brought back eventually - but it doesn't sound like it will be quick. Just feel sorry for those guys working on it, and thankful that they can be bothered. By the way, for some amusement, check out the next post in the thread, as a response to DarkScorpion's final paragraph. :lol:

I have mentioned a couple of other lyrics sites I discovered in a post here (http://forum.jphip.com/showpost.php?p=299440&postcount=289) - only the first has a lot of H!P though; the second seems to be quite new though growing, and is mainly other JPop.

When I wanna look something up on the wiki, I've found anything I wanna look up is cached on google, so maybe you can get projecthello pages the same way.

Hey, I shoulda known I was gonna learn something today. Google cache? Never heard of it before... yet there it is clearly displayed on every damn search I do. Thanks, man, that is SO helpful! A bit fiddly to go around the links, but it can be done... So - great!!!!

Sometimes it takes quite a few searches to find the correct search terms to get the page you're looking for.
I often view the cached page even when a site isn't offline because google highlights the text you're searching for so it makes it easy to find if you're looking at a big page with a lot of text. Sometimes the site I'm looking for is so damn slow I can't be bothered waiting for the page to load and view the cached one instead.

I can also recommend archive.org because links are still working there, but it's usually a little more outdated than google's cache ^^;

Not immediately, but it will be back. Did you see my post here (http://forum.jphip.com/showpost.php?p=299377&postcount=12) on the first page of this thread? If you go to the mm-bbs link, there's a full explanation.

now the problem seems to be when you try to edit the wiki, it says you are on an open proxy (127.0.0.1) and you cannot edit the wiki
no one is on an open proxy
hopefully, they can solve this issue so the entries can be edited

yeah I've been having trouble with it too. when I search morning musume wiki at google, it just gives me wikipedia, and also when I was about to enter the berryz koubou one at wiki, it went really really slow and it said this internet page isnt working. it really upset me.....well not to much

Yeah I get the same error. It won't let me upload pictures either. Womby only set it up again yesterday, maybe everyone has been blocked for a reason cos he might not have finished setting it all up yet.

It's not down any more, it's back. http://wiki.theppn.org/Main_Page
The only problem is nobody can edit/post new stuff, but all the old info is there.
At the bottom of this page (http://wiki.theppn.org/Wiki.theppn:Notices) it says "I've been told by a user that it seems only sysops are allowed to make edits currently. ~ Wapiko 12:04, 19 February 2007 (JST)", so that's why nobody can edit the pages currently.

Great news for us all and everyone who loves J-pop and even other music, idols, the lot! HUGE tribute to Womby and all his co-workers who must have totally worked their asses off to get it back. Yeah, we've missed it and it's been incovenient for a few weeks, but look at the thing - it's a huge labour of love, and those guys dserve our absolute WORSHIP. So let's also all get on there sometimes and contribute to the dam' thing!

I heard that wikipedia change their policy. Now only allow open source pictures, which mean fan-taken picture or street capture without copyright. For Jpop, all pictures from agency even the one that you bought, are copyrighted. So basically, no more Jpop picture on wikipedia pages.
One has to take pictures, clear them with the artist agency, then post on his website with copyright released (open-source pictures). Who is going to that procedures to post photo on wikipedia?
