I installed vista on a test pc and it is just a royal pain in the ass, lot of hardware that is more than a year old is not compatible

^ That depends on the manufacturer it looks like, all hardware I have (some upto 5 years old!) either had a new driver available for download (automaticly via Microsoft or direct from the manufacturer) or the XP driver could be used.

The only real 'pain' is getting al your applcations back up and running, that means the first 2 weeks you have to install a lot...

As always: YMMV.

all ipod (and zune) owners can't use their players the way it should on windows vista. Apple wants it fixed with the new version of Itunes
I'll stay away from vista as long as possible. I'll continue to use winXP / Linux
Maybe with Vista service pack 1 it gets a bit usable...

 that's hilarious ^_^ especially at the end when he slammed the box :D that's some serious rage the guy has.

anyone up to try his installation method? :)

but really, Vista is very interesting, but now is just not the right time to install it yet. Better wait for some major improvement from microsoft before I even attempt to install it.

I happened to like Vista a lot, but the uncompatibility problems were a pain. Some of my favorite programs like TMPEnc, and others that used Cinema Craft Encoder weren't working well ...

But the rest I liked. Faster and more stable.

Vista right now has compatibility issues. It'll get ironed out eventually. Remember how XP was during its time of launch. But like many others, I wait awhile as I'm fine with XP.
