Click START >> Run >> write: telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl
There u go...black and white Star Wars:)
-
^ not exactly part of XP.. you're using telnet to open a data stream from the listed server
but still cool
-
:P the title seems cool meh..!!!
-
Wait... you can't do this on a Mac??? :)
-
It can be done on any OS that has telnet (which means ALL) I do it on Linux. Watching Star Wars on ASCII is fun!!!
-
How long is this? I've only watched it for 2 minutes 'cause i gotta go :p might check it out later though.

this isn't like a hidden feature or something -laugh-
-
Holy crap! That's the geekiest thing I've ever seen! I love it!
If I wanted to tell my Mac-using friend how to access this, what instructions would I give him? Anybody know?
-
I wonder how long it took them to do this...
-
try VLC player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html

I can't believe someone made a whole ascii version of star wars. The person did make the whole thing right?(I didn't watch the whole thing)
Perhaps back when I was younger it would have kept me entertained longer than that. But wow. Just wow. I can't believe someone would actually do that.
-
Star Wars - Started 10:44 PM, Ended 11:01 PM, it stops right after Chewbaka thumps the guard in the detention center.
I wonder what the Japanese thought of chewBAKA's name.
In Japanese, chuu means faithfulness, or loyalty, and baka means idiot. So Chuubaka was the faithful idiot who was with Han Solo.

Since OSX is based on UNIX, they should have telnet burried in there somewhere.
For the really old Macs:

For Mac OS 7/8/9:

In OS X you use the Terminal program and the telnet command similar to any other *nix related OS.

what are you ppl talking about? lol is it like a game?!!?! im confused here.....:ONfrustrated: :ON@_@:

It is an ASCII Art (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASCII_art) render of the Star Wars Episode IV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars) movie presented via a telnet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telnet) terminal connection.
-
Awesome. Watching it now. :)
I can't imagine the time it took.
-
there are more episode at asciimation.nz...:)
-
You can create your own by using 'vlc --vout caca somevideo.avi' like this:

It's cool, and hell do I agree the person who made this has soo much time on his hand.
Talk about Jedi Mind tricks
-
kudos for the maker.
i'm sure i took a long time for those ascii arts
total awesomeness~
-
omg ascii ftw!!!! whoever did this... i /salute them for the time spent O_O
-
True, since you're opening a telnet connection to another site, this isn't really a Windows XP thing. Anyone should be able to do it, as long as they have a way to run the telnet command. It is kind of cool though. I might have come across this before, but if so, I forgot about it.
-
That's quite amazing :D
I don't think I'll bother watching it all the way through though, haha.
-
That's very cool
-
so cool!
-
Wayy too much time on his hands. But I applaud him nonetheless.
