The sub-forum might be called DOrama and MOvies, but keep in mind that TV shows goes here as well. ;) Discuss anything in here as long as it's related to any of Japan's many variety, music and talk shows. Yes, that goes for the weirder ones as well. Recommend, discuss, rant, name your favorites shows!
I guess I'll go ahead.
I'm personally more of a variety show fan, but anything goes really. My favorite show is no doubt Mecha-Mecha Iketeru, 10 years and still standing strong! I'm sure a lot of you H!P fans know about it through the Okajo specials. Another regular show I'm following is Guruguru Ninetynine. Initially it was because it featured Ninetynine, but I could care more or less now. :lol: It's hilarious.
I have a whole bunch more, but I'll hold for now.

Frankly speaking, I don't have chance at all to watch Japan TV shows since I live in outside of Japan. So for sure I wish to get a hold of these stuff. I heard that some gravure idols would also appeared in those shows occasionally, hopefully I have a chance to watch those shows.:ONkekeke:

I like mecha mecha iketeru. the most recent i watched was the gaki no tsukai special in a police academy. that was awesome. I dont catch up week to week though.
I saw in youtubes those superweird ones where japanese chicks were dressed in toilet paper and they have constestants or someone shooting them with water gun.

I don't really keep up with variety shows, as I don't understand much. lol. But I think my favorite right now is Domoto Kyoudai. I find the regular guests interesting. Granted, it's not as funny as it was when Gackt or Enari Kazuki were there, but it's still pretty funny. KinKi Kids can hold their own and throw in some jokes. Plus, the guest is usually someone I'm familiar with.
Mecha-Mecha Iketeru is hilarious, but I don't keep up with it. I've seen random episodes, and that's about it. Same with Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai, which also has some hilarious segments and games. And speaking of Downtown, sometimes I randomly watch HEYx3 talk segments. The new rank-in segment is pretty funny.

I don't really keep up with variety shows, but I like pretty much anything with ninety-nine or downtown in it. I usually just watch random clips I happen to find on youtube. I don't really get most of the comedy duos that use mainly verbal gags, but most of the shows those two duos do have hilarious physical gags XD

It's basically a show about "poor" people and their special way of living. Comedians pay them a visit and hilarity ensues, most of the time. There was an episode a while ago about a Berryz wota. :lol:
Enta no Kamisama "The God of Entertainment" (http://www.ntv.co.jp/enta/)
One of the most popular shows in Japan, and that's no surprise. The show has been a great way for new comedians to work their way up. Some noteworthy ones are Sakurazuka Yakkun, Machamacha, Guitar Samurai and Oriental Radio. I lost my weekly source so I haven't followed this lately, though.
Oh, and Japanarama (http://www3.tky.3web.ne.jp/~edjacob/tv.html). If anyone is interested, I've got all 3 volumes of it. Lots of familiar faces, Downtown for example. :P

360 Monkies was funny the first few times, but now it's just getting old. :P Maybe I should start watching Japanese baseball. My favorites have to be Koumoto, Garittochuu, Yuenchi Kujira and Zun. All of them are good, though.
But yeah, Mini Inoki's silent exits make him hilarious. :lol:

doinkies has been watching Tamori no Japonica Logos a lot recently. It's really funny and interesting.
The latest episode was especially funny. It was about misheard lyrics in songs, and various people submitted some of their misheard lyrics, and videos of their kids singing a song wrong. One particular funny misheard lyric on the show was from Hamasaki Ayumi's "fairyland". Someone sang a line in the refrain, "Ano umi e to tsuzuku / michinori mujaki ni" as "Ano umi e to tsuzuku / michi ga beef jerky" :lol:
And there was this little kid who, while doing radio exercises outside, sang along with the exercise song, and she sang the line "Atarashii asa ga kita / kibou no asa" as "Atarashii papa ga kita / kibou no asa" :lol: :lol:
I recommend this show, especially if you're studying Japanese (probably intermediate level would be good to watch this show and understand most of it). It also talks about signs with strange-sounding Japanese found all across the country, kanji, phrases, and new slang among other things.

Q Sama's pressure study is a good way to learn Japanese, and the guests are mostly cute as they get those female announcers to join.

I entirely missed the point of Black Jack (I don't regularly watch the show, nor did I even see this one from the beginning), but his constant random appearances and then disappearances were great. I think he managed to fail them pretty much every time :D

I can't seem to remember the name of the actor, but he's in every Waratte wa Ikenai special. I've seen a great number of the specials and I'm still not sure when he debuted and his history with them. He's an important factor in making them fail, though. :lol:

I must say the MVP this time was Azuma Mikihisa. :lol: Talk about having a bladder problem. Looking forward to the extra footage next episode! It better make up for the lack of Shouhei and Konya ga Yamada.

Of course not. The whole event thing was to give the boy (Akitaka) enough courage to go through an operation. The lyrics of the song were basically doing the opposite, like the whole event. I don't remember it exactly, but it mentioned the hospital being overall shitty and that the boy was adopted. :lol:

Anyway, to keep this thread going, any fans of Lincoln? One of my favorite aspects of the show is the frequent appearances of wakate geinin. The latest episode is especially hilarious, most notably ゴー☆ジャス. What a genius.

Just finished it, skipping Kuwazugirai for now. :lol:
Simply just beautiful. The roster was perfect, most of my favorites made it, and it's good to see they picked a lot of new people. Too bad Hanamaru's "Takaharrrrrra!" didn't make it, as shown in the preview. Also, first time seeing the Yuuka impersonator and she's really spot on. :lol:
Edit: Ah, Takahara was from an earlier episode. :/

Yeap "Takahara" was from epi 11, so was Yuuka's impersonator.
I also really liked her a lot and her speaking rhythm was perfect.
I hope Monkikis appears again. He is truly Mr. Tsutawaranai Monomane!

Quite disappointed with Hanamaru's and Monkiki's performance this time.
Although there were many excellent ones who picked up the slack and kept the standard.
The girl, Utsunomiya Maki is just plain cute and pretty with a very comfortable voice. I can understand why everyone likes her :D

The dead body girl and Yuuka's impersonation was funny as well but the "guy who can't pronounce the サ row was hilarious. I didn't expect him to be the champion though XD

My favorites this time had to be Kyan x Kyan, Myo-chan, Up-Down, Koide Maho, Utsunomiya, Asano Atsuko impersonator (even though I haven't seen the real one :lol:) and Hyena. The Katagiri Hairi one was brilliant as well. They're like clones!
And I fucking lol'd when Ooizumi You came out of nowhere.

Kyan x Kyan has been brilliant since Epi 10 with his impersonations of the newcaster-who-always-slips-up-pronouncing-something.
I was sad that Grappler Takashi didn't do his usual Inoki monomane :(
I thought the guy who did the Oda Yuji monomane should have won, he did them brilliantly.

^Haha. been downloading it for 2 days already, and just watched it yesterday. Basically cos I found that Gal Sone had a special in February where she ate around the world, but couldn't find that anywhere. :cry:
Instead, I found that youtube had a lot of Gal Sone clips ranging from different shows since last year including the above 2 shows (the most interesting one was an investigation by following her around all day, sampling her poo, getting her xrayed and checking her body's chemical make-up. Think it broke a tv viewing record. :lol:) .

I am immune to about 98% of fucked up shit out there. Nothing really bothers me to the point that I'm actually phased by it (blame it on over exposure, desensification, w/e). 2girls1cup? no problem. Guro threads on /b/? fine. Having said that...
Tokyo Gore Police is the weirdest, craziest, most fucked up piece of WTF I've ever seen. Other movies in this category are Visitor Q, Ichi the Killer, Uzumaki, and Machine Girl. Now, if you took all four of those movies, let them fuck each other in some kind of disgusitng orgy, with david cronenberg jerking off onto all of it, and somehow a child was born from it, that demon spawn might be about half as fucked up as this movie. In the kingdom of amazing bad movies, this flick isnt emporor, its the God the emporer takes its cues from. This is the kind of shit, that when it gets to the rest of the world, people say 'holy shit Japan is fucked up!'
This movie is a must see for fans of Shock and Schlock movies where 2/3 of the budget is for the fake blood. It has gore, it has dismemberment, it has a snail girl, a vagina-gator, and so much more. This movie is a cinematic experience beyond any other.

I recently found some english subbed clips of a comedy show featuring the Downtown Duo and several others who I just learned the names of, Tanaka and Endou of Cocoricco(?) and Yamazaki-san. at first I didn't know the title of the show, but I guess it's Gaki no Tsukai. It one totally hilarious shows, like many japanese shows I found. Their batsu game thing totally got to me, I can't stop laughing.
I'm now watching the "Do not laugh bath house english sub" and just gotta say, "OUCH! that gotta hurt!", the blowdart in the butt.
As much comedians as there is in Japan, I think Downtown is probably my fav. I loved watching their HEY!x3, started watching because of Morning Musume/H!P but now I would watch anything of theirs as long as their is english sub.
other japanese shows I'd watched, pretty much anything with english subs, with anything funny, even clips of stand-up comedy of comedians/tarento/personality, people I don't really know.
I like Mecha Mecha Iketeru starring Ninety-Nine, especially the Okajo Bakajo test and the Sports festival, both starring MoMusu. but even without H!P, I would still watch it w/ engsub.
Utaban and MSta was interesting, sometimes, but I stopped watching cuz 1) not as funny as before and 2) no more H!P artists...
also comedy skits and also other talk shows, even of non-comedian, like idols/tarento are also funny, I watched and enjoyed several of KinKi Kids' (Shin) Doumoto Kyoudai, SMAP's SmapXSmap, Arashi's ___ (forgot the title), etc...

Weirdly turned on KeyHoleTV and found the Eating Queen contest. The Final is on tonight at 7pm in Japan.
Seeing ppl eating 6kg of omelette rice is always entertaining.
These 2 are still going at it. Mythic rivalry. :P

An older variety show which was so funny was Rakka Onna, from 2005, starred the members of Bananaman, Yui Aragaki, An Sayuri, few others. Yui normally played the straight person to their antics, really some funny stuff. :lol: The show was made up of a lot of mostly 3-6 minute clips, sometimes shorter, got a few here for you, not all are subbed but sometimes you really don't need them. :roll:
