A World War II hand grenade was found in a load of potatoes at a potato processing plant in Dronten on Tuesday.
The grenade was clearly recognisable because its pin was still intact.
According to the Nos, it is a standard fragmentation grenade used by Americans during the Second World War and known as a pineapple.
It is now in the hands of the bomb disposal service.
Dronten is in the Flevopolder - a large area of reclaimed land east of Amsterdam - where dozens of bombs, bullets and grenades from the war period are found every year. (http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2012/11/hand_grenade_found_in_potatoes.php)
