I'm not sure if it's my imagination, but I have this impression that Japanese people are often cross-eyed, more often than other peoples I've seen. By cross-eyed I mean that "each eye look in towards the other eye", like you would when you try to look at the tip of your nose.
I tried to find out more about this on Google and Wiki but I gave up. XD
What are your impressions regarding this, and if anyone could direct me to any scientific study on the matter, I mean if it's more wide-spread in Japan or not, I'd be grateful.
I guess I have to add that a slight cross-eyedness adds to cuteness IMHO. :)

Also, I've read that in south america (or was it in Mexico???), it is/was considered as a predominent charm point! :)

Must be Mexico, because here in Venezuela it's not a "predominant" charm point, and neither is in Brazil or Colombia (I know because I travel a lot to those two countries for business). I myself find it cute in a girl, but for most people I know, it is just a "defect"

Here in Chile that's just a defect, noone will love you more because of that, it's more like something to laugh at. Look at the president of Argentina and tell me that he doesn't look a little wierd.

Someone should add "the wonkey eye" into colloquial terms of the wiki
Though I'm not sure the epicanthal fold is exactly it. Some people have their eyes move in unintentionally and don't always look like that. I used to do it sometimes when I was younger. The funny thing is I can't willingly do it o_o I don't think it has anything to with ethnicity though

So it's a sort of optical illusion then? I suppose that could be it.

http://www.visionsimulations.com has some good info about everything related to eyes. Sometimes it's funny to see one thing in a picture whereas another person sees completely different thing.
