I'm a huge fan of really scary games (not just blood and gore, but ones that involve the supernatural like ghosts and such), so I'd like a list of the scariest ones you guys know about for Playstation 2 XD Thanks!
So far, I have Fatal Frame II: Crimson Buttefly and Silent Hill.
-
get the other fatal frame, and all the other silent hill games.
Other scary games aren't really scary as those from what I hear.
-
have u tried fatal frame 3? its alright buts its dried out
try clock tower 3, kuon and rule of rose. i definitely recommend the last one
-
Silent Hill, Fatal Fram the first one, Resident evil Re-Make :ONbingo:
-
RESIDENT EVIL is the BEST....
-
Fatal frame 2: Crimson butterfly was the first and the last horror game I've and will ever play again. Supernatural horror themed games in my opinion are the worst of the lot. Monsters and mutants never came close for me.
-
I love Resident Evil Remake. Not traditionally scary, I think, but damn if it doesn't have its moments.
-
Resident Evil 2 was scary but nowdays it's graphics are so outdated that probably it will just look funny when guy transforms into zombie instantly :D
-
I thought Siren was pretty cool, kinda hard though. I only played Clock Tower 3 for a little bit, but what I played was fun. Big scary people always chasing you without a way to kill them. There wasn't an RE remake on PS2, was there?
-
things rarely SCARE me...
having said that: i cant play fatal frame in the dark.
-
try Alone in the Dark series, they are pretty good.
The first few ones are based on scariness, and the later ones starting to become a bit gore like BioHazard series.
-
Fatal Frame 1 2 3 (grab one of those, all got scary stuff)
Siren 1 2
Silent Hill 4
and
Michigan Report from hell (not really recommend it but... its pretty scary in some way~)
hm to think of it... actually ps2 doesn't have a lot of scary games....
ps: Resident Evil I don't think that scary
-
Well I was going to suggest Fatal Frame II and Silent Hill but then that idea got shot down from the first post! XD Resident Evil is good, but lays heavily on sudden scares rather than atmosphere. Which is fine if you like that sort of thing, but I much rather prefer atmosphere.
I'm gonna risk saying this because, I've only played a demo version and haven't even played the full game, but I say you should look out for System Shock 2. Yes, it's dated, yes it's for the PC, but, it sounds pretty tempting. (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/systemshock2?q=System%20Shock%202)

yah clock tower! Clock Tower and Clock Tower II were both scary to me, in the same way that Clock Tower III was. They were just creepy storylines that weren't necessarily scary but then they'd jump out at inopportune moments. The Clock Tower series is scary because it actually is SURVIVAL horror, as in you don't have a shot gun or any sort of gun at all, you hide and have to use things in the room to attack the killer. Clock Tower the original was scary because you'd hide and hide and sometimes if you hid in the same place all the time he would figure you out, but it was random so there was really a suspense sort of thing going on. Rule of Rose is good as well, it's sort of creepy again but I think it lacks the "scary" factor because the enemies are like midgets xD
-
Agree with Resident Evil series. Dead Rising not scary but the ultimate zombie game!
-
Agree with Resident Evil series. Dead Rising not scary but the ultimate zombie game!
i agree, in the first RE, i liked to play at night in the dark...dogs jumping outta windows = scary.
-
Gears of war kinda scared me
-
^LOL, the gore is awesome.
I didnt know theres a siren 2
-
There's no scary Resident Evil for the PS2. Just stick to the Silent Hill and Fatal Frame games. Silent Hill 2 is by far the scariest of the bunch to me because of its unique story and I love the soundeffects and the soundtrack.
On a side note, if you're mortally afraid of snakes like me, then play MGS3. I was so scared each time I was hiding in some long grass. You hear them, you know they're next to you, but you just don't know where...that was way too much for me.:(
-
Silent Hill 3 = SCARY TOO!
zomg I heard my friend almost peed his pants cause of it.
-
I think Siren 2 only came out in Japan. I think the only RE's on PS2 are Code Veronica X and 4. 4 is more like an action game than survival horror.
-
Thanks for all the recommendations, guys!
-
I would say Silent Hill series and Resident Evil series. From what I heard from friends, Fatal Frame is scary too but I haven't got a copy to play with.
-
RE2 espacilly when you're all alone and when you play it at night XD
-
I can vouch for Silent Hill: The Room and Fatal Frame.
I have them both on Xbox, and they are really freaky!
No way I'd play them in the middle of the night!! :P
-
For PS2 the entire Silent Hill series, very freaky stuff
And when you want scary games for your PC you should check out : System Shock 2, Clive Barker's Undying, Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth and Condemned.
-
The Hotel section in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is probably the creepiest the section I've played. It's more psychological and atmosphere than just splattergore like RE.
-
Any Silent Hill game are recommended especially SH2.
Fatal Frame series are scary but I don't like the gameplay and story.
RE series are generally scary too and RE2 is the best IMO and RE4 is not scary at all.
Try also Siren.
-
ok this game isn't exactly scary as you go on, but the first part of it I started getting scared and panicing!
Doom 3 xD!!!! I know, I love horro films but being in the game made it me that was going through this.
I jsut get scared of my character dying and plus its well creepy!
I saw Siren in a shop, is it fun to play aswell as scary?
-
IMO gory games aren't really scary, the really scary stuff is:
-Fatal Frame (try playing it alone with the lights off O_o)
-Rule of Rose
-Clock tower (get the first one if you can)
Yeah, for me it's these freaky games that's scary, the latest resident evil shouldn't even be called a horror game :( too focused on action, no scary part at all..
-
Mortal Kombat 1 (arcade version)-The fatality really creeps me out
Resident Evil series- I really love this game but I say it's more surprising (especially if the vibration on) Than scary
Silent Hill series- Creepy, Scary, Disturbing.
-
I Think The Scariest Games Of All The Time Are Resident Evil Remake & Fatal Frame (the first one) :D
-
Doom 3 and Resident Evil 2 when I was in 8th grade was scary too.
-
I just bought Fatal Frame 3 (or as it's called here Project Zero 3). It scared me haha.
the RE series are fun, but not really scare imo..
-
Silent Hill series and the Fatal Frame series got me all hooked up because it was scary. Although Resident Evil has a lot of action in the game, it does deliver some scary moments too.
-
Even more recommendations! Thanks! :inlove:
-
Fatal Frame II is great because it scares every girl I know hahaha. I have surround sound so it's even better. Maybe once I move out with my 2 friends I'll eventually play it and pass it...it scares me even : /
Resident Evil Remake is good for scares. I've played all the RE games but the Remake for Gamecube had be jumping with those Crimson Head Zombies.
-
yes indeed the fatal frames the silent hills are always freeky to play :tama-mad:
and i'm a big fan of the resident evil series as well but i guess those couple of games are the scary ones
ps. i dont play these much since i get too scared and always game over lol conservation is just not my thing
-
Try playing doom 3 with the lights off.
-
Resident Evil. Actually any horror game that is being played in the dark will mess with your head.
-
The Hotel section in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is probably the creepiest the section I've played. It's more psychological and atmosphere than just splattergore like RE.
What part was the hotel bit? I can't remember been awhile since I played it. I do remember the creepy big mansion house place that scared me quite a bit playing in the dark with 5.1 :p. FEAR is alright if you get really submerged into the game and try to think you are actually that person.
As it has been said before pretty much any game that has points that make you jump or suprise you just play in pitch black (if you have a projector good quality one use that. it wont be as bright as a crt/lcd/tv screen). Then with some good speakers with surround sound. This should be enough to get your adrenaline pumping. Oh also big dark rooms will help (where your set up not in the game) even better if there is lots of the space behind you. This can make you think someone is creeping up on you haha.
Other then that, just load your gun with blanks in case someone tries to sneak up behind you.
-
Thinking about scary moments in games, I remember playing Half-Life 2 in the dark with headphones and it was in the section when I was in a ruined town. I heard an inhuman scream from the distance and then you see the new types of crab zombies. The kind that can run very fast and along walls. And whenever you downed one, the spider like crab would jump at you. I think that's why it was scary for me, the fact that they were spider like.
-
bioshock looks pretty damn scary
half-life and doom never scared me. i got used to the monsters popping out from dark places.
-
The darkness scared me
-
Silent Hill series, gotta be one of the creepiest/scariest game.
Unlike doom series, which just surprises you with the pop-up monsters :/
-
The Silent Hill and Fatal Frame series are my recommendations. Pretty scary stuff.
The recent Resident Evils arnt that scary anymore... but i remembered playing the japanese ver. of the first one, Bio Hazard, and the dogs jumping in thru the window....scared the crap outta me.
-
Since I've looked through the thread and I think that no one has mentioned it . . some other great horror games are Haunting Ground and ObScure (ObScure 2 is coming out soon also).
-
Bioshock is supposed to be pretty scary, just came out for the the 360.
-
F.E.A.R scared the crap out of me more than once...sucks that I had headphones on...
This little girl all of a sudden sneaks up behind me and she disappears...and then i head down a ladder, and turn around to walk away, there she is AGAIN, omg. It doesn't sound scary the way i just described it, but damn...it sure was...
-
try playing warcraft:DOTA, go to the video options set brightness to 0. go to the scourge side of the map and you'll feel the scariest feel ever...
-
Keep your eyes and ears open for two upcoming games that look like you might need a couple of spare pants nearby! First is the sequel to FEAR, titled Project Origin:
Project Origin Trailer (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/25252.html)
But it's this game shown at the TGS that looks very promising. Imabikisou, for the PS3 and developed by SEGA, is really more like one of those text adventure novels, where you can decide what to do next, so I imagine gameplay will be limited to selecting multiple choices. But the advantages here are obvious, you're not imagining the picture and audio, it will be right there.

If you're interested (like me) there's a detailed article here:
Preview (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=83878)
No word on a Euro/US release date though :(
-
Rented Bioshock, it's not really scary but it's a really good game, I'd recommend it to anyone.
-
I was just going to say Bioshock, but see it's already been mentioned  I dub Bioshock as being the creepiest game I've ever seen. But as for the good ending of the game, almost made me cry, in a good way.
-

Yeah, that's the bit. Ocean House is what it's called in game. Late in the Santa Monica section.
I didn't really find Bioshock all that scary. There's a few surprising moments, but overall it tried too hard and was more humorous than scary when it tried to freak you out.
-
Recommendations up until now! Thanks guys
-
I'm still too scared to play my copy of Silent Hill. Only got up to the corpse crucified on the chain fence and the stabbing babies, then it was over. :bleed eyes:
-
yup i vote for sillent hill too ..
but the tem in fatal frame is pretty good too ..
-
you cant go wrong with Silent Hill (1-4). Also Fatal Frame (1-3, 2 is my favorite) and Siren. F.E.A.R. is also scary and Condemed.
-
My scariest video game moment wasn't even a horror game~
It was a dream sequence in Metal Gear Solid 3.
Where you get put into a jail cell. Save and load the game again, but it went to a black'n'white hack-n-slash game. That bit honestly freaked me out.
-
F.E.A.R. definitely surprised me at parts, and had me scared at other parts. I normally blow through first person shooters without a care, but this one had me going very slow cause I had no idea what was going to happen next, or where it was going to happen. The final episode of the game is pretty epic too :yep:
I'm glad I went back and played it through a second time though, cause then it was just really really fun.
-
I've been replaying FEAR too. It's still a great game.
-

I agree with RionZ here..
this game really creeps me out, especially the ladder incident.. you guys should try it. have the game volume loud a bit and you might pee in your pants XD
-
Maybe try the Silent Hill series. I recently got addicted to it, Silent Hill 2's story is one of the best I ever seen.
Also try the fatal frame series, It has some good scares.
-
i thought fatal frame 2 was pretty creepy. eternal darkness isnt scary scary, but it has its moments and some really cool stuff
