Well from a narratological standpoint I think that what's actually contained in the books is paramount. I haven't read the last one yet though, so I can't really comment how well its supported.

Honestly, I've gone through the first 6 books without caring one way or the other about Dumbledore's sexuality. Snape's is more questionable in my opinion...

I never thought of his sexuality, it just doesn't come to mind while reading it. I also thought he was a busy man to be in a relationship
