Japan Crowns 16-Year-Old Pen-Spinning Champ

A 16-year-old Japanese student became his nation's pen-spinning champion. His technique and artistry won a contest organized by — who else? — the Pen Spinning Association of Japan.

Heard this story on NPR this morning.  I can't believe this wasn't held two decades ago.  In high school I mimiced the actions of some guys from Hong Kong and thought I was pretty good with three (3!) distinct pen-twirling motions.

Pentrix (former pentix (belive it or not)) was actually the place that tought me how to do some stuff. The thumbaround, index spin, charge and some other stuff aren't THAT difficult to pull off and once you master them building simple combos is pretty neat.

It's all about practice, perfect in school when you don't want to pay attention to class. That's where i had my practice sessions.
