Dante (Devil May Cry) - See here's the thing. With the announcement of the reboot done by Ninja Theory, a lot of people got upset that Dante's character got changed so radically. Detractors couldn't figure out why though. "Oh he's too ridiculous." they said. "Oh he's a half-human, half-demon white haired demon slayer - how original!" they smirked. But what these people don't understand is that to many, including myself, he was
the half-human, half-demon white haired demon slayer. The reason why i prefer DMC over other equally compotent action games is the style, the visual flair and of course, Dante. He's an awesome character to have, every line, weapon, pose and that swagger just set him apart from other 'oh so serious' male protaganists.
Ezio (Assassin's Creed II / Brotherhood) - What's most impressive about Ezio is thinking about what came before. Altair from AC1 was this soulless, monotone empty shell of a character with no backstory or personality to attach yourself with. As is well known, there were many improvements from AC1 to AC2 and from a narrative viewpoint, all they had to do was add some more interesting characters and inject a bit of humour into it. Enter Ezio. Starts off as a young playboy but after he witnesses what he has to see he then goes on a journey to become this feared assassin. And it's great because when you start out he falters a bit, which is kind of reflective of the players skill level at the time, they're getting to know the rules of the game and what have you. But the more you play and the deeper into the story you get, it feels like you are now controlling this badass. I should also mention that despite his quest for vengeance, Ezio also his human side by looking after his family and still flirts with the ladies. He's one of the best protaganists to come out of this gaming generation.
Chie Satonaka (Persona 4) - This was hard! The recent Persona games have so many great characters like Akihiko from Persona 3 or Teddie or Kanji from Persona 4. But how can you deny the steak eating, tank kicking wonder that is Chie? Fiercely protective and a bit of a tomboy, she's also funny as hell. Mad crush.
