Chapter 1
“Rain!” A loud voice yelled followed by the sound of screams from the children on the playground and the shuffling of shoes on concrete as people ran to leave the park in fear of getting wet. Water dripped from the sky slowly, until it turned violent and relentlessly poured from the dark clouds. The park was deserted by now except for a dark haired girl who sat on the bench with her head down.
“I’m so stupid.” The girl thought to herself, angrily wiping away the tears from her face. “I should’ve known that it would’ve ended like this.” She was mad, mad at Sashihara, mad at whoever cursed her with these feelings, but mostly she was mad at herself. Mad because, she knew that being that way with Sashihara would come with its risks. Mad because, she already knew who Sashihara would pick. But still she couldn’t help but think that maybe, just maybe Sashihara would take a risk and pick her instead.
Yui knew that she never should’ve gotten to close to the older girl, she knew that she should’ve ran far, far away and bury her feelings away. Yui knew she should’ve done a lot of things, but she was weak. Her feelings for the older girl took a hold of her thoughts and consumed her. Sashihara was all that she thought about, the only person that she could ever see herself wanting. Her feelings were so strong that it was unbearable. “I’m so stupid.” The girl repeated in her head again, closing her eyes trying to stop the tears, not like anybody was there to see them anyways.
Suddenly the feeling of the rain pounding on her vanished, she opened her eyes and saw a girl standing besides her holding an umbrella over her head. Yui looked at the older girl curiously, “What are you doing?”
“This is how people get sick, you know?” The girl avoided the question and took a seat on the bench next to the dark haired girl, “it would trouble Rie a lot if you got sick before your performance with her.”
“Ah,” Yui said quietly “that still doesn’t explain why you’re here though.”
“Rie told me.” She paused, “about the fight that you had with Sasshi…She was really worried about you. Sasshi that is. They both were. Rie called me and asked me to check up on you. She thought you would’ve been here.” The short haired girl sat back against the bench and looked over at the younger girl who was staring at her hands in her lap. Oya smiled and wrapped her arm around the smaller girl’s shoulder. “Cheer up, Yui. She’s not mad at you. Rie still thinks of you as her friend, otherwise she wouldn’t of have called me to go check on you.”
“If you know what I did, then why are you being so nice to me? Shouldn’t you be angry?” Yui asked still staring at her hands.
“Hmm. I wonder…” Oya trailed off, “I guess it’s because we’re in the same boat, with the whole unrequited love and all that stuff.” The short haired girl let out a laugh, “we’re just two lonely people hopelessly in love with people who are hopelessly in love with each other. What about that situation doesn’t scream that we should be friends? Look even the sun is coming out to tell us that we should be friends as well.” Oya smiled and pointed at the sun that began to emerge out of the dark clouds that were slowly disappearing.
Yui finally looked up and noticed that the rain had stopped and the playground that she was sitting next to was slowly starting to fill up with children again. The dark haired girl looked over at the older girl who was watching the children play with a smile on her face. “Maybe…It wouldn’t be so bad to be friends with her.”

“Hello?” Yui had just got back from the aquarium with Oya when her phone suddenly started ringing.
“Yui…I’m sorry. Are you busy right now?” A voice breathed into the phone. Yui’s eyes widened she could recognize that voice anywhere. “Hello? Are you still there?”
“Ye-Yeah.” Yui stuttered nervously. She hadn’t heard from Sashihara ever since their fight weeks ago.
“I-I think I made the wrong choice choosing Rie. All we do is fight.” The older girl paused and Yui could hear her take a deep breath, “It’s tiring being around her. I can’t help but think of you all the time. Wondering how you’re doing, I-I know that I have no right to worry about you, after what happened. But, I can’t help it. Can we be friends again? I miss you…”
Numerous thoughts were running through Yui’s head. Why now? She thought she was finally getting over the older girl. But, after hearing the older girl’s voice again, all those forgotten feelings came rushing back all at once.
“I…Sasshi-” Yui started
“I’m sorry. I knew I shouldn’t of have called. I’m so stupid. Of course you wouldn’t want to be friends again. I’m so sorry Yui, I-”
“Where are you right now? I’ll come meet you.” Yui said cutting off the rambling Sasshi. She knew she would regret this, but right now all she wanted was to see the girl she had been thinking about constantly.
______
“Are you free right now?” Oya Shizuka stared at the words and sighed setting her phone down on the table in front of her. ‘Why do I feel this way?” The short haired girl stretched her arms out on the table and laid her head on them, blankly looking at the clean, white walls in front of her. She closed her eyes, “am I just being used? Is that why this hurts so much?” BRRR, Oya opened her eyes, looking at the forgotten device. “We had another fight…I just really want to see you right now.”
“What should I do?” She asked only to be greeted by silence, Oya smiled weakly, “who am I kidding? I already know what I’m going to do to.” The brown haired girl grabbed her phone, quickly texting back her reply. “The things that I do for love.”
“I’ll be over soon.”
