Princess Kako is a real cutie, and I think deserves a thread at this stage so that those interested can follow her development and progress to maturity in years to come.  In my opinion she is much cuter than her older sister (a sweet enough kid, but always looks so serious!) and I think will rival some of the Berryz and C-ute as she enters her teens next year.  Anyway, I have culled a few cute pics from various sources and if anyone sees any more or comes across info about Kako, post away!

I have placed this thread in the General Discussion section because Ladylove Forum is part of The Perv and that's not my intention for focus on Kako at her present age;  and she's not a music star so I don't think can really go anywhere else?  If anyone has a better idea, let me know and I can ask one of the admins to move it.

Yes, she's a member of the Japanese imperial (royal) family.  Basically she is the second-oldest grand-daughter of the current Emperor of Japan, Akihito.  Her father is his second-oldest son, Prince Akishino.  Her mother Princess Kiko just gave birth to the first male born into the imperial family in over 40 years, who is now third in line to the throne (given that they still allow only males to inherit the throne).  Even if they changed the law to allow females to inherit the throne, which is a slim possibility in the next 20 years, Kako would still be at present only fifth in line for the throne (I think)...  so it's unlikely she'll ever rule Japan herself    but she's the real deal, a princess of the oldest apparently continuous royal family in the world.

Granddaughter of Japanese emperor Akihito dances to K-Pop?

A photo of Princess Kako, the 17-year old granddaughter of Japanese emperor Akihito, has been making headlines online, as it shows her dancing to K-Pop in a studio.

The local Japanese papers recently blew up a photo of Kako dancing to SNSD‘s “Oh!” in their recent publishings. In the photo, Kako dons a confident expression, and it’s said that she emulated the choreography to a tee.

This photo is causing quite the controversy in Japan. Some were relieved to that she was down-to-earth and wanting to express herself like any other teenager, while others wondered why out of all dances, she chose to emulate a K-Pop artist.

Kako is the second daughter of Emperor Akihito’s second son, Akishino, and is currently attending the all-girls secondary academy, Gakushuin High School.

If it was controversial for her to dance to kpop, just wait till she marries a gaijin(me).

I would actually like to see a video of the whole dance. I have heard that it was a performance in high school, and then it wouldn't be impossible that at least someone have recorded it. By the way. That princess is really cute!
