What Can't Be...Is - Chapter 3
« on: January 25, 2014, 03:36:31 AM »
I was really intrigued with the idea of this story so I decided to toy with it and write out a fic for it. If you've read my first fiction, you'll probably understand. Some elements will be the same since it's an alternate world of it. Don't worry though! I will still be continuing my other fic. Hope you aren't disappointed!

Here's a link to my other fanfic, The 3 Classes: http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=36984.0

Enjoy! Douzo!

~~~~~~~~
Prologue
  Today is the day, I’m heading off to a new school. The Greek Institute. It doesn’t sound like your normal kind of school, does it? Well there’s a good reason why I’m being sent here and I can perfectly understand that. It’s because I’m a special kind of person, unlike many other people on this Earth. Not to be conceited of course. I’m just saying.
I actually just found out about this yesterday. Like seriously? What kind of parent decides to suddenly tell their child, “Oh hey, I almost forgot, you’re going to a new school and it starts tomorrow. Here is the address, don’t bring anything with you and here’s your plane ticket. It takes off in an hour.” I mimic her voice in a mocking tone. I was outraged! She pretty much just kicked me out of the house without so much as a goodbye. What a great mom I have.
I’m over it though. My mom isn’t bad, she just likes to play and joke around and stuff. It’s just how she is, and how she shows her love for me. I know, weird right?
Back to the main subject. Apparently, this “Greek Institute” is in Tokyo and is where my plane took me. After arriving it didn’t take me too long to find the address, located on this huge property on the far outskirts of the city. To the normal human eye, you wouldn’t be able to see anything but fields and nature, but for me, I am able to see beyond the average human eye and what looks like nature to others, is actually where the Institute is. Don’t ask me how I can see it, I just can.
Walking up to the Institute, I notice that it is surrounded by a tall electric barbed wire wall, yes WALL, all around the perimeter of the large property. Very welcoming. Turning my attention to what’s before me, I am welcomed by giant bronze gates towering above me with a sign that says, “The Greek Institute.” Of course.
Oh hey, I never explained the reason I came here, did I? And also why it was this specific school huh? Well, to sum it up.
This is an Institute of great splendor. Standing in secret apart from the mortal world. Countless students are sent here to harness their own various powers and abilities, and acquire the many skills needed to survive the world hidden from mortals. They are the bridge between mortals and gods. They help bring peace on Earth, well, somewhat I guess. Or maybe not. Anyways, I am one of those students. Well, technically I’m about to be. But who am I, you ask?
I am Maeda Atsuko. A demigod.
This is practically the same as The 3 Classes (I still love that fic) but 1) In Acchan's POV and 2) Demigods are involved so I will expect Yukirin in this too like you made her a ninja with superspeed in T3C~
What Can't Be...Is - Chapter 1 Update!
« Reply #4 on: January 26, 2014, 02:32:08 PM »
ok! hi minna, here's the first chapter! If you read my other fic then yes, this is the alternate world beyond the gray door option. But please keep in mind that the story here is completely different. I know, some things might be the same or similar though.
Without further a do... Douzo!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

From a young age I've always known I was a demigod. (If you don’t know, a demigod is the offspring of a mortal and a god.) Here’s my story. All my life I have had an unusual love and longing for the water. As a child couldn't stay away from pools or anywhere where water flowed. It just called to me. To be in it, was a natural feeling. It felt like home, and it just made me happy. I could always clear my head in water, and observe a different view of the world. Ah yes, I may sound like a water-obsessed freak. Or like that Haru guy from that one anime Free! He's on a whole other level than I am when it comes to water. Hm? Ok enough about that. It’s obvious now who my godly parent is right? No? Yes? Ok I'll tell you. I am the daughter of Poseidon, god of the seas.

So... about Poseidon, or I guess, Dad... he's not the best dad in the world. He left my mom and I after I was born and he rarely visits. And when he does visit, it's not exactly a big happy family reunion. It's kind of awkward because he doesn’t talk much... hm... Though still, I admire my dad. At least he cares enough to visit once in a long while...

Ok somewhat sappy family backstory, be gone! You guys don’t want to hear about that. So back to my being at the institute.

Around 9am

Passing through the giant celestial bronze gates of the institute, I come to the realization that this place is a whole lot bigger than I had imagined. Beyond the gate, the institute stands as a wonder for all to behold. It looks similar to the Parthenon, lined up with big white pillars. The building extends upwards, it's kind of like a castle but it’s built in Greek tastes.

Walking through the main doors I'm met with a very large sign in front of me that says "All students to the commons area, down the hall to you left". Huh. Ok looks like I'll go there.

As I travel down the long hallway, towards the commons area, I hear someone yelling behind me. I turn around and I see a short girl barreling towards me, arms waving about. Before I can dodge her, she runs rights into me causing both of us to fall to the floor with a loud thud.

"Itai... watch where you're going" I utter in annoyance as I push her away from me and try to sit up.

"Gomen ne, you were in the way. I tried to warn you though. Looks like you didn't hear me." The girl replies as she gets up off the floor and dusts herself.

She then proceeds to help me up and introduces herself. "I'm Oshima Yuko! I'm sorry I crashed into you, I was in a hurry. I'm going to meet my girlfriend, and speaking of which, I gotta go find her!" She suddenly runs off, leaving me in her dust.

Well she's quite lively, I think to myself as I start again towards the commons area.

Reaching the end of the hallway, I see before me a very large open area filled with students. They were scattered across the entire commons area immersed in idle chit chat, excited for the new year. I looked around not knowing what to do. I felt awkward as all these people had friends to talk to and I had no one. It felt lonely.

"—you!" I hear someone shout, but figuring it wasn't for me, I chose to ignore it.

"Hey you! New girl!" Thinking now that the call is directed at me, I look around searching for the owner of the voice, and found that it belongs to that girl I met earlier. What was her name... oh yeah, Oshima Yuko ok. She was on the other side of the commons area waving her arms frantically at me trying to gain my attention. Succeeding, she smiled at me and motioned for me to walk in her direction. I comply as I really have nowhere else to go so why not? Moving towards her, I notice that she's with one other girl. She's very tall and model like, having a nice figure and long light brown hair. When I get to Oshima-san and her friend, I ask her a question.

"How'd you know I'm a new student?"

"Easy. I've never seen you around before." Duh. Why didn't I think of that?

Nodding my head in response, she then asks me for my name.

"Ah. Maeda Atsuko desu. Oshima-san, do you mind if I ask, who is the girl beside you?"

"Ah! I almost forgot to introduce you, but before that, please drop the formalities and honorifics. Call me Yuko, and this beautiful lady right here is my girlfriend, NyanNyan!" Yuko grins as she spreads her arms out towards her girlfriend as if she's presenting her.

The girl whom Yuko just called NyanNyan ignores Yuko and takes a step towards me. Smiling at me, she introduces herself. "I'm Kojima Haruna, NyanNyan is my nickname and you can call me that if you want"

"Oh. Okay NyanNyan, just call me Acchan then."

"NO! Only I can call my NyanNyan NyanNyan!! Don't call her NyanNyan!" Yuko yells, following of which, Haruna proceeds to hit her on the head. I think I'll just call her Haruna.

"I-taii... NyanNyan whyyyy??" Yuko starts pouting.

Before Haruna can respond, there’s an announcement on a loudspeaker for all the demigods to gather in the center.

When everyone's gathered, a middle aged man casually walks into the commons and proceeds to walk in front of us. What a lame entrance. Motioning for us to quiet down, he then tells us his story.

"Hello minna-san. I am Akimoto Yasushi as many of you already know. But for those of you that do not, I am the caretaker of this institute and also your headmaster. This institute is not only a place for learning, but is also a sanctuary. You may stay here as long as you desire, you're not limited to only staying here for the traditional 3 years. Here, there's no limit to how long you may stay, and if you choose to leave, you will always be welcomed back." He pauses and looks around at the crowd.

"As you all should know, you are here to acquire the skills needed should you find yourself in a life threatening situation. I'm not saying that you will, but as demigods you all must be able to protect yourself and fight back should it come to that. The world is different now though. It's not how it used to be back then when demigods were always sent on quests to fight monsters, prove themselves, etc. You are all here to acquire basic training and attempt to live a somewhat normal school life."

Well that sounds nice. The world doesn’t seem as dangerous as it used to be. Beside me, Yuko lets out a really loud and obvious yawn, signifying her boredom. Noticing this, Akimoto-sensei starts to close his opening year speech.

"Now, I know most of you are tired of hearing the same thing over again every year, and would like to go ahead and start your new year, but I have an announcement to make. As several of you may know, the War Games was last held 4 years ago, and I would like to announce that we're having them again this year. Further details about the event will be released within the week so keep your ears open. Dismissed."

After Akimoto-sensei leaves the commons area, the crowd immediately starts to buzz in excitement, everyone expressing their eagerness in the upcoming games.

"What's the War Games?" I ask Yuko who's bouncing up and down in a frenzy of excitement.

"It's a huge event that's held once every 4 years! I've never actually participated in it though, since I've only been here for 3 years so it'll be my first time! You can ask NyanNyan though, she's been here for 4 years so she should know."

I look at Haruna and ask her what's the big deal about the War Games.

She looks at me with fire in her eyes, explaining, "The War Games is an event fought between our institute and our rival school. It's the biggest event known to the Greek demigods of the Institute, and also the most dangerous." She warns.

I stare at her. "Dangerous?"

"Yes." She replies. "It's supposedly a 'friendly competition', but every time the games are held, a fight between the 2 campuses breaks out. I find it weird how they still decide to hold the event with all the fights.

"Fights? Why??" I look at her incredulously.

"Simple. Our campuses hate each other. Since before our generation. Always have, always will."

"Before our generation?? Who is this other school?"

"Well, first of all, you know how we're the Greek Institute right?"

I nodded my head.

"They, are the Roman Academy."

...

I blink as I try to process that. Roman Academy. Wait. Roman?

Haruna continues and adds, "Their campus is located on the other side of the city. You can guess now why we hate each other from the name right? It's common sense really. We're Greek demigods, and they are Roman demigods. We don't mix well."

Wow. Roman demigods... I never would have guessed there were others besides the Greeks. Should have known though, because the Greek Olympian Gods have Roman counterparts.

"Why do we all hate each other? We can't be friends?" I was curious.

Haruna was about to reply when Yuko interjected, "Yes! We can NOT be friends. They are a whole other race different from us. The Romans just simply cannot be trusted." Her statement firm.

Well that's kind of harsh.

Haruna adds, "Friendships just don't last between the Romans and Greeks...” She sounds like she speaks from experience, but I dismissed that thought.

Grabbing my arm, Yuko starts dragging me towards an exit.

"Come on Acchan! I'll show you around. NyanNyan let's go!" She calls out to Haruna who's in deep thought behind us.

"Oh! Right! Coming!" Haruna hurries towards us and then matches our pace as she walks beside us. Yuko lets go of my arm and clings to Haruna.

"NyanNyan~" she tries to warm up to her.

"Yuko! Not here!" Haruna attempts to push Yuko away but she won't budge.

Yuko giggles before she let’s go, and just holds her hand, making Haruna blush.

---

2 hours later

After walking around the large Institute, being shown the dining hall, gym, classrooms, training facilities, and sports fields; I was led to the dorms located in a separate building behind the school. We walked into the living room area of the dorms and Haruna and Yuko explained to me what's what.

"Classes don't officially start until tomorrow. So you're free to hang out in the dorms or wherever until then, and I will be your roommate." Haruna exclaims happily.

"Acchan! If you try to do anything to my NyanNyan, lay a finger on her... I will personally see to it that you don't ever see the light of day again." Yuko glares at me darkly.

I gulp. "Okay... You don't have to worry. I promise you I won't."

She lit up immediately, grin and all. "Great! That's good to hear~"

Wow. She's serious when it comes to Haruna.

I try to change the subject by asking a question.

"So if you and Haruna are dating, how come you guys aren’t rooming together?"

"Oh I WISH, but nope! I get stuck with a gorilla for a roommate, daughter of Ares, what luck. Fortunately for me, we're the best of friends now, so it's not so bad. I'd trade places with you in an instant though!" She looks up at me with sparkles of hope in her eyes.

"Um...”

"NO, she's not trading places with you" Haruna interrupts.

"Awwww NyanNyan, you're no fun! Why don't you want me to room with youuu??"

"Because I said so. I need privacy you know, I can't always be around you."

"Waaaaaah! That's mean! You don’t want me!" Yuko cries.

Haruna lets out an exasperated sigh. She then walks over to Yuko and places a hand on her head. She slides it down to her cheek and caresses her face as she bends down and whispers something in Yuko's ear, then kisses her on the cheek. Yuko immediately turns red with embarrassment, and slumps to the floor, a stupid grin lingering on her face.

What.

"Daughter of Aphrodite. That reaction is expected."

I jump in surprise as I find a fashionable girl with duck lips leaning against the wall beside me, watching the pair with an amused look on her face.

"Haruna's the daughter of Aphrodite?" Well that explains it. She gets her looks from her mom. And I have to admit, she's pretty hot and alluring.

"Yes, you couldn't guess? No one can be that beautiful and attractive without being a child of Aphrodite. It's in their blood, and it's their nature. She willed for that to happen to Yuko right there." The girl answered me and nodded her head towards Yuko.

"Willed it?"

"Yes, perhaps I should've worded that differently... allow me to explain. Every child of Aphrodite has the ability to charm speak."

"Charm speak?"

"Yes, by simple talking to someone about their own opinions or saying what they want, or demanding anything really, they can make whomever they're talking to act at their command or change their own mindsets. She basically wills them to think/do what she wants. It's kind of like seduction or temptation of some sort."

"That's hard to follow."

"Oh... well my bad for not explaining it properly. Or maybe too bad for you not understanding. Anyways, allow me to introduce myself. I am Itano Tomomi, daughter of the Olympian goddess, Artemis. You can call me Tomochin." She holds out her hand.

I shake her hand in reply.

"I'm Maeda Atsuko, daughter of—"

"Poseidon. I know."

"How..?"

"We rarely have children of the big 3 here. You know, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades? Well, news of a child of one of them attending the Institute travels fast."

"Oh."

"Yup, lucky you. You might be popular around here."

"I can't imagine that...”

"Oh trust me, you will. Our other big 3 student is popular as well. In a way. The thing is, people talk about her a lot, but in terms of associating with her... not so much."

That doesn't sound popular to me. And that girl is antisocial the way I see it.

"Who is she?"

"Ohori Megumi. Daughter of the god of the Underworld, Hades. We all call her Meetan though. You might meet her soon."

Oh. Daughter of Hades. That probably explains that antisocial feeling.

"Ah... Ok."

"—i! Oi! Acchan! Stop ignoring us!" I turn my attention towards Yuko and Haruna. Yuko up and out of her daze, and Haruna just standing beside her.

"Eh? Yes?"

"Don't act innocent! I was trying to talk to you but you were too busy talking to Tomochin here!" She gestures to Tomochin.

"Sorry, I guess I didn't notice you...”

"Heck yeah you didn’t notice me! Too immersed in your conversation" she sticks her tongue out at me.

"Anyways" she continues. "I wanted to ask if you wanted to get some lunch with us? Tomochin will be joining us too and a couple others." she and Haruna look at me expectantly.

"Eto... sorry guys. I kind of wanted to go to the city to do some shopping and take a walk. I need a breather." I explain to them.

"Ahh sou desu ka? Alright then, we'll see you later." She replies in brief disappointment. Then she, Haruna, and Tomochin leave the dorms for lunch.

With that, I take my leave and head out into the city.

~~~~~~~~~~
Takamina POV (same day @ the Roman Academy)
"Oi! What are you two doing up in the tree?!" I shout at the two students sitting on branches 100 feet off the ground.
"We're practicing our hunting and archery! From here we want to see who can shoot an arrow the farthest!" one of them call out to me.
Ugh. Those two... Yuihan and Paruru. Such competitive young demigods. Daughters of Apollo and Diana respectively. I guess this is good for them. They're practicing at least, so I shouldn't complain.
"Hey! Come down before dark or you'll hurt yourselves!" I warn them.
"Yes ma’am! Will do!" They yell back at me before continuing their contest.
Looking up at them in satisfaction, I take my leave.
I patrol around the campus, observing the student body and looking to see how the demigods of The Roman Academy are fairing. As a leader here in our Academy, I, Takahashi Minami wish to make sure our demigods are heading in the right direction. So I watch them and correct them where I can or give them advice.
Walking through one of our grand hallways, I pause as I hear someone call my name.
"Takamina!" I turn around and a Gachapin looking girl runs towards me excitedly.
"Miichan, what is it?"
"I have a report."
"Go on"
"Preparations for the War Games have already begun. Our students are training intensely for the games for we need to be absolutely ready for anything the
Greeks may throw at us this year."
"Very good. This year we will crush those dirty Greeks! For the pride of our campus and our own selves, we will win the War Games and bring those Greeks to their knees!" I loudly proclaim.
"Yes! Go Romans!" Miichan jumps up and agrees.
"Miichan that was so lame. You couldn't say anything better to hype me up?"
"Eto... no. Sorry." Miichan rubs the back of head in embarrassment.
Oh well. Better than nothing.
"Ah! I almost forgot! Miichan, tell Mariko-sama to watch the academy for me while I'm gone, will ya? I won't be long."
"Where are you going?"
"I need to go to the city to check up on my shipment of supplies."
"Oh ok, will do then." She gives me a thumbs up.
"Great! See you later Miichan!" I then head towards the campus entrance and walk in the direction of the city.
~~~~~~~~~~

Acchan POV

In the afternoon, walking through the city on my way back to the institute, I let out a long sigh.

"Ahh~ why did I forget my wallet... all I could do was window shopping... ugh." I wallow in self-pity.

With my head down, I walk onto a lonely looking street by a river all by myself. Minutes later, I find myself surrounded by a dozen yankees will metal bars and bats in hand.

"Ehhh what do we have here? A pretty young lady" one of the guys smirks.

"Let's have some fun eh?" Another guy eyes me.

Ew. What a bunch of creeps. I'm totally over this crap.

I look at the delinquents surrounding me, then become aware of my surroundings. There's a river right there! Maybe I should... No. They're mortals. I can't harm them with my powers. I shouldn't. Well there goes that plan.

I have a knife in my boots, I could... no. Not a good plan either. I shouldn't use that kind of violence.

Looks like I'm gonna have to take 'em out the old fashioned way. I ball up my fists and ready my stance to fight them off. They laugh at me, thinking of course that I'm just a weakling girl. I'll show them.

One guy makes a grab at me and I punch him the face then knee him in the stomach, making him fall to the ground groaning. Another guy goes in to try and punch me. I dodge swiftly and punch him twice consecutively, then kick him to the ground. 2 more guys lunge at me from opposite directions so I move in to take one, and throw him into the other. Good thing I work out. I kick one guy's balls and beat up the others in a matter of minutes. Wow they were weak, and they totally had it coming. Lesson is: Never mess with a demigod.

I dust myself off, and start back into the direction of the institute, when I'm suddenly picked up off the ground and into the air.

"What the—" I look up in bewilderment as I see a fury carrying me in it's claws hundreds of feet in the sky. Are you kidding me?! I've had enough crap! First I couldn’t go shopping, then I had to waste my time on yankees, and now an evil underworld spirit too?? What a day, I never should have come into the city.

"You ugly evil thing, let go of me!" I try to struggle out of it's grip but it's hold on me is too strong. I then take my knife from my boot and stab the creature. It cries out in pain and releases it's grip of me.

Momentary relief flows through me, but then is replaced by dread as a sudden realization befalls me that I was suspended hundreds of feet in the air and now I'm plummeting to my death. I thought to myself, way to go Acchan. You just committed suicide. Oh how wonderful.
Screaming like a maniac, I panic watching the ground get closer and closer by the millisecond. I close my eyes and wait for impact and sudden death.

5 seconds later. I open my eyes and find that I'm alive! Thank the gods! It's a miracle!

Then I realize something is amiss. I sit up and look where I am. I gasp as I realize that I've fallen on a person! Oh gods no! Is he dead? I think I'd rather die than kill an innocent bystander! This is awful... I get up to get a better look at who I've fallen on. Oh, it's a girl... and she's alive! OMG she's breathing yes! I breathe out in relief.

Oh! She's moving! Wow. I can't believe I didn't crush her. Not that I did want to crush her though. She's so small and it's just unbelievable. This is amazing, I can't believe we both lived through this ordeal. The fates must look upon us in favor or something because I thought there was no way we were gonna live through that. Oh well, I'm not complaining.

The girl on the ground before me sits up and rubs her head.

"I-tai... what the heck?!? Why did you have to go and fall on me for?! Anyone else would have been fine, but why me!" She whines.

Woww... Rude much. Though since she did live through that, I guess she's got a right to complain. But still, she shouldn't talk to me like that.

"Oh yes" I sarcastically replied. "Out of all the people in the world, I definitely chose to fall specifically on you. Because I thought you looked like you needed someone to fall on top of you from the sky" I drag out my words mockingly.

The girl narrows her eyes at me. Looks like she didn't like my choice of words huh? Not like I care. Ugh.

"Just forget it." She's says. Huh. Not one to drag things out huh? Good for her.

"Why did you fall in the first place, no. First of all, where did you fall from?"

Oh crap. Well I can't tell her I fell from the clutches of a fury, hundreds of feet in the air.. she's a mortal.

"Eto... I was walking along the roof of that building, when the wind blew me off, making me fall." I lamely said. I hope she buys it.

"That's it? Wow you must be light in order for the wind to blow you off" She exclaims in shock.

Ok. Wow. She totally bought it. This girl is... wow.

She gets up off the ground and continues, "I guess I'm glad I cushioned your fall though. Not too happy about getting hurt, but otherwise, it's fine. I saved a life." She gives me a small smile. Aw she's kind of cute.

"Please let me introduce myself, my name is Takahashi Minami. But please, just call me Takamina." She holds out her hand.

"Takamina." I repeated.

"Un" She nods her head.

I smile at her and shake her hand.

"Maeda Atsuko desu"

"Atsuko huh? You have a pretty name." She smiles at me showing me her dimples and I blushed.

"Just call me Acchan though"

"Ah alright, Acchan it is"

We both smile at each other, forgetting about the unfortunate way we met one another, followed by the unpleasant first impressions.

"So. Ano... Acchan? Want to take a walk with me for a bit?" Takamina shyly asks.

"Sure, I don't mind." I respond happily. She's actually not a very bad person, she's kind of sweet. I giggle at the thought.

Strolling through the streets of Tokyo, Takamina and I talk of various things. I laugh at her sorry excuses for jokes and her lame attempts to make me laugh. Though still, she succeeded. I find out that we're the same age, even though she's a lot shorter than me. And she goes to school not too far from here. She loves cats, ribbons, and the color pink. And her favorite food is katsudon. She's actually pretty girly, it's cute.

I notice it's getting late as it's already evening.

"Takamina?"

"Un"

"I have to go now, my friends might be looking for me since it's getting late."

"Ah! You're right! I lost track of time! I'm so sorry for keeping you here!" She bows her head in apology. Aww silly Takamina. Kawaii~

"Ie ie, it's not your fault. I wanted to spend time with you, so no worries" I attempted to lift her spirits.

"Honto ni?"

"Yeah, really. I had a lot of fun. Thanks for walking with me" I smile at her.

She looks relieved as she smiled back at me. She then asks me a question.

"Ano... are we friends?" Friends?

"Of course! Yes, we're friends!" I exclaim, and she looks delighted after confirming her thoughts. I giggle.

"Can I meet you again?" Her words surprised me as I forgot to think about that.

Gathering my thoughts, I reply to her,

"Yes, you can. Say... tomorrow afternoon?" I ask her with hope in my voice.

"Yes!" She squeals, making me laugh in delight.

"I'm glad" I say as I smile and look into her eyes. She then turns away and blushes.

We then said our good byes, and parted ways. As I walk on the path back towards the institute, I thought of Takamina, and the growing feelings inside of me.

What is this? I thought. I felt so happy being with Takamina. It was a really nice feeling. I can't wait 'till tomorrow.

I agree with Ruka Kikuchi-san, this kind of reminds me of Percy Jackson. I always love stories like this; talking about the gods of ancient Greece and Rome.

Though I wonder, Minami is the daughter of which god in the Romans.

Please take you time to update and I hope it will be very soon.

What Can't Be...Is - Chapter 2!
« Reply #10 on: February 27, 2014, 03:28:00 AM »
Hey minna! This fic isn't dead yet! It's only been a month lol. I'm sorry i couldn't post sooner, I've been a bit more busy lately, plus writing my other fic. I don't plan on abandoning this though.

I'm not really good with action/fighting scenes too well, so please forgive me if anything doesn't meet your expectations!

Hope this isn't too long for you.

You don't want to keep reading me talk about stuff, let's get on with it.

Douzo!

~~~~~
Takamina's POV
"Ahhh~ this is going to be a good day~" I exclaim as I stretch my arms out before getting out of bed.
I'm going to meet Acchan again~ I feel so excited just thinking about it. I don't know what it is about her for sure, but I like her. She's nice. And really pretty. Hehe. I'm glad I made a new friend and it's her. I hope this day passes by quickly so that I can go meet her already.
I look at the clock and its 9:47am.
"Yabai! I overslept! I'm gonna be late for the 10 o clock match!"
I hurry to get dressed and rush out of my room with a granola bar in hand as a quick breakfast snack.
I rush out of the student's quarters, and away from the main building. From there I run across the field towards our academy's colosseum.
Our colosseum is modeled after the original Colosseum in Rome, though when it was a lot newer and whole. Not half broken and whatnot as you might've seen in books and pictures.
Walking down a path that leads towards the Colosseum, I’m met with fork in the path. The right path leads to the Colosseum. I turn left. I’m not going to that Colosseum. I’m going to our simulation Colosseum. Yeah, simulation. We have one of those. With the help of many Roman engineers, architects, and children of the Minerva, we’ve been able to recreate the colosseum built in with scientific advanced technology suitable to our needs. It’s where we hold games to fight various monsters without any real danger, run obstacle courses, and a series of other games and battles that we can’t do in our remake of the original colosseum.
Entering the simulation Colosseum, I walk into the stands and into a booth overlooking the arena. In the booth I find Kitarie sitting in a chair in front of an elaborate setting of computer technology used to create the simulations. She’s typing a series of codes into the system, and presses a variety of colored buttons and knobs. Standing behind her, is Mariko-sama. She has one hand on her hip, and the other on the back of Kitarie’s chair. Her eyes are locked onto a screen in front of her and Kitarie. Without so much as looking at me, she speaks.
“Takamina, about time. Your match is about to start. Hurry and prepare yourself. You will be up against Sae this time.”
Ooohh how fun. I nod my head and leave the booth. I head down into the armory and equip myself with armor and a gladius. Taking up a shield, I hurry out of the armory and go to stand in front of a gate that leads into the arena of the Colosseum.
I wonder to myself what Mariko-sama has in store for us this time. Our battles here you see, are not always taking place in an arena like setting. For all we know, we could be battling in a deserted city, a forest, a desert, or even on top of a building. The simulation colosseum allows those who are in the arena to see what the people in the booth want them to see. It creates multiple environments for us to battle in to give us real life experience in those settings. The images we see not only look real, but feel real. It’s as if they really are there and are real. Even the creatures. Unfortunately they are so real, that they can hurt us, but they can’t kill us. If that makes any sense.
The gate begins to open, and all I see is a bright white light. When the light disperses and I am able to see my surroundings, I notice, I’m in the woods.
I take a few steps forward and take in my surroundings. The black gate is behind me, next to it is a pink flag. In front of me, far ahead somewhere on the other side of the woods, I know that Sae is there. I need to get to her gate. This match, is a one on one game of capture the flag. Rules are somewhat different though, I have to not only capture her flag, I have to search and locate a pillar somewhere in these woods and place the flag on top. Also, I have to do all that before she finds my flag too. So better hurry.
Cautiously easing my way deeper into the woods, I keep all my senses alert for even the slightest movement. What I have to keep an eye out for is not just Sae and her flag, it’s also whatever else Mariko-sama had placed in here, and I doubt they’re friendly.
The bush just ahead of me several feet way moves. I immediately dart my eyes towards the bush and equip my sword into my hand. I ease slowly towards the bush. The bush moves again and I hold my breath. Expecting a hostile creature of some sort to jump out and attack me, I raise my weapon ready to kill the thing. Suddenly, what appears to be a small, dark, furry creature jumps out towards my face. Out of reflex, I immediately slice the creature in half and it falls to the ground with a bloody thud. I look down at the ground and see what was apparently threatening me. It was a squirrel.
I let out a groan. “Are you freaking kidding me Mariko-sama! Is that all you’ve got to send to me? A freaking squirrel? What happened to all the mythological monsters?” I poke the unfortunate critter with my sword. Ugh, somehow, I just hate squirrels. Annoying pests. I watch as it disperses into nothingness as it was only a simulated squirrel. Good riddance. I continue on my way through the woods.
~~~

After some 30 minutes or so, I’m finally on the other side of the woods, I think. No sign of Sae. She’s probably close to my flag by now. I look around and search for the gate. Noticing it a little ways from me, I hurry to it and grasp the green flag that hung by the gate. Luckily it’s small, so I roll it up and tuck it into my boot since I have nowhere else to put it. Well this has been easy so far. That’s strange. It shouldn’t be this easy, where’s the challenge? I shrug to myself and go back deep into the woods in search for the pillar.

After a long while of searching, I’m carefully trudging through the woods when I cross blades with Sae.

She jumps out of nowhere with a battle cry and rushes me with a golden spear. Startled by her loud and sudden appearance, I barely dodge her attack with a cut on my arm. Note, we can definitely harm and disable each other here, but by no means are we allowed to fatally wound or kill the other, just like the simulation creatures.

I quickly get myself a good distance away from her and hold a fighting stance. Sae whips around and readies herself, the point of her spear facing me. In addition to being equipped with a spear, Sae is wearing a dark steel chest plate and an iron helmet. Staring me down, she waits for me to make a move.

I oblige to her silent wishes and raise my gladius. Then with a cry, I go in to attack her, and she follows suit. I attempt to lunge and slash at her multiple times, and every time she dodges them and counters with her spear. What’s more, is that she is able to land several cuts on me. Dang this girl is fast, how can she dodge and counter my every attack? Ugh, I’m at a disadvantage, swords aren’t good matches for weapons such as spears, lances, and the like.

For the next 5 minutes we’re at it. Sae’s barraging me with a series of attacks and swift movements while I can only dodge and defend myself almost helplessly. Ugh, what do I have to do to get away from her? I need to find the pillar already so this can be over!

Sae quickly removes a dagger form her boot and throws it at me. I duck and it ends up stabbing a tree behind me where my head should have been. What the heck?? That could’ve killed me! We’re not supposed to be killing each other, she acts like we’re supposed to be at each other’s throats. I look to Sae and she smirks at me. I glare angrily at her and then remember that she’s always like this. Picking fights and starting stuff, always wanting to fight someone; battles are her forte. Well of course, she’s the daughter of Mars for crying out loud, I should’ve expected she’d be like this and not go easy on me. Ok Takamina, let’s try to fight more cautiously. Before I can take one step towards her, the ground begins to shake.

A large roar sounds from deeper within the wood a little ways from us. We direct our full attention to where the roar was coming from, tense, and weapons at the ready.

Silence. No movement, no nothing, the air is quiet.

Then, one second I’m positioned on the ground facing the direction of the sound, the next, I’m painfully hurtling through the air and I slam into a branch in a tall tree. Ugh, that’s gonna bruise. My mind is spinning, I can’t think straight, what the hell just happened?! Realizing I’m in a tree, I try to maneuver myself down the tree. Usually, I find this one of the easiest things to do, but this time? Uh uh, nope! It hurts to move, and I’m still in shock from that sudden impact. Ughhhhhh what the crap did this to me?! I swear..

Sitting up now on the branch, I just realized I don’t even have my gladius with me. It’s down on the ground. I look down from the tree towards where Sae and I were standing like 30 seconds ago. I notice that Sae’s still there, spun around, and she’s fighting a Minotaur. Ehhhhhhhhh?? It was that?? How did it even get behind us, I thought it was ahead of us?! Argh, I hate those things! Big, ugly, and hella strong. Seriously.

Oh crap, Sae looks like she’s in trouble. I need to get down there, and fast. Judging from the height I’m at and how I still can’t move all that well, it doesn’t look I’ll be getting down anytime soon. Great.

“Ugh, gods, why can’t I just fly down or something?” Something then clicks in my head.

“Oh wait, duh, I can. Bakamina, what’s wrong with you?”

I slowly inhale, exhale, then try to stand up on the branch. “Ugh, it’s actually been awhile since I’ve done this…”

Looking down, I mumble under my breath, “Thank you, Jupiter…” Then I step off branch.

 I don’t fall tothe ground though, if you’re wondering. After stepping off the branch, I find myself suspended in midair. Well of course, having summoned the winds to me, I’m able to use them to fly. Perks to being the daughter of Jupiter huh.

I quickly rush to Sae’s side after picking up my gladius. I come in between the two, and slice off one of the Minotaur’s horns, making it cry in agony.

“I can handle it myself” Sae huffs.

“Doesn’t look like it. You were about to get mauled.”

Before she can answer the minotaur rushes in to attack us both. We dive out of the way and it rams into a tree. Does no damage though, as it turns around ready to charge at us again.

“We ought to kill this thing already” I say

“Duh, no shit.”

Now, we fight the minotaur together.

You’d think, all it could take it one good stab and whoop, it’s dead, but nope. Mariko-sama had it programmed to be able to take us on. Way to make it difficult.

As Sae attempts to stab the monster in multiple places at the front, I fly in and slash at its head from above.

“Die you cursed mutant!” Sae yells.

As we fight, we end up forcing it deeper into the woods and fight it there. Out of the corner of eye, I see a tall structure. It’s the pillar! If I can get to it, this simulation will end!

I attempt to fly towards to pillar to end this once and for all, when something catches my foot. It’s Sae.

“Where do you think you’re going Takamina? We’re not done here yet! We have our own battle to finish!”

“Yeah? Then let go of me and I can finish it!” I gasp. “Behind you!!” I scream at Sae.

Sae turns around and it met with the roaring face of a charging minotaur.

“Shit, just go!” She let’s go of me, and charges the minotaur herself. She’s got guts.

Taking the flag out of my boot, I quickly zoom over to the pillar before the minotaur does any real damage on Sae. Not that he can anyways, but still, it’s dangerous. Floating over the pillar, I set the flag on top. It glows and then everything becomes immersed in a white light. I can’t see anything. A moment later, the light disperses. Sae is stabbing at air, the minotaur’s gone, and we’re not in the woods anymore. We’re in the middle of the arena, the simulation is gone.

~~~
After that, Sae leaves after telling me she’s gonna set us up with a one on one battle sometime. Joy. I then go to meet Mariko-sama in the booth, and she shares with me her thoughts.
“Oi, Takamina, you did well out there. Why didn’t you just fly in the first place to get the flag though?”
“Ah… I forgot.”
“Baka. By the way, I enjoyed watching the two of you fight. Got many wounds?” She smiles sadistically.
I scoff. “Yeah, no thanks to you! Why the hell did you send that minotaur to us in the middle of a game??”
“You asked for it. Wanted something more challenging, there. I gave you challenging.” Ugh I hate it when she’s right. I wave her off.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. Ok I’m gonna go hit the showers. See you later.” I leave the booth.
~~~

After showering and getting dressed in the shower rooms, I walk out and into the hallway and see Miichan yelling at me from a distance.

"Oi! Takamina! You're needed in the meeting room in 15 minutes! You guys are discussing the War Games!" Miichan calls out to me.

"Ah! Ok! I’ll just head there now!" I call back. Thank the gods for Miichan. As the daughter of Mercury, she never fails to give me messages and reports. I then head towards the meeting room in the main building.

Upon arriving, I poke my head inside the room to find everyone either seated at the rectangular table in the center of the room, or up and about.

At the table there are 8 seats, 1 at each end, and 3 each on the remaining sides. Starting with the seat closest to me on the left side, it’s Sayanee, Sae, Mayu, and then Mariko-sama at the head of the table. Then on the right there’s 2 empty seats, then Yuihan. From here, on the far side of the room, I notice Yukirin by herself, leaning against the wall dressed in all black clothing and staring intently at a small figure seated at the table whom of which is Mayu. Mayu is talking excitedly to Sae. Beside Sae, Sayanee is conversing with Yuihan. And clinging to Sayanee from behind, is Milky. She's standing behind Sayanee, leaning against her back, with arms around her neck and a small smile on her face. Then I take moment to look at Mariko-sama. She appears to be in deep thought as she's leaning forward, arms folded on the table, her eyes unfocused, like they're wandering aimlessly. Looking at the scene before me, I feel the need to step in and get this meeting started.

"Ahem" I cough as I step into the room.

Everyone stops what they're doing and looks at me expectantly. Well all except Mariko-sama, whom is still in deep thought.

"Oi! Mariko-sama!" I call her but she doesn't give me any indication that she heard me.

I walk over to her and give her a nudge. She flinches and looks up at me, her eyes become unclouded and more focused. She remembers where she is and realizes that everyone is looking at her. Embarrassed, Mariko turns a light shade of pink and apologizes.

"Ne, Mariko what were you thinking about?" I ask her.

"Nothing" she replies. I guess I'll leave it at that for now.

I walk back over to the opposite end of the table from Mariko-sama and take my seat. Milky detaches herself from Sayanee and goes around the table to take the seat beside Yuihan. Meanwhile, Yukirin moves away from the wall and quickly appears in the seat at Mariko's left, beside Milky.

"Okay! So what do we have here so far?" I ask the group.

Mariko sits up, composed, and replies, "We got a folder from Togasaki-san with details on the games."

She holds up a manila folder and then slides it to me. I open it up and look at its contents curiously.

"Huh? This really isn't much. There's only a single sheet of paper here saying that the games will be held in 4 months. What are the games to be held though? Shouldn't we know or have an idea so we'll be better prepared?"

"Yeah. Though the thing is, we're supposed to come up with them." Mariko replies bluntly.

"What?! Maji de?? I thought they were already decided?"

"No. It seems that this year, the students will decide the games." Mayu answers.

"We didn't do that last time, the higher-ups planned everything for us." Yukirin adds.

Sae also comments, "Yeah, they did. This'll be the first time that we plan the games. Takamina, you wouldn't know though, since you weren't here yet."

Ah. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I've only been here for 3 years, so I haven’t experienced the games yet. Out of everyone in this room, only Mariko, Sae, Yukirin, and Mayu have been in the games because they've been here longer.

"So... why are the students going to come up with the games and not the adults?" Sayanee asks curiously.

"Because adults always ruin the fun. The ideas they come up with are not always the best. People will complain. And sometimes, it's not fair if they decide everything for us. It's always better to consider the thoughts and feelings of the students too. We all want to have fun. So with this, we have the chance to be responsible and show the higher-ups just what exactly we're capable of, and at the same time, have some fun." Mariko-sama concludes.

I look around the table and everyone else is nodding their heads in agreement. I still don't understand something.

"So just deciding the games makes us responsible?" That can't just be it.

Mariko-sama looks at all of us darkly.

"It will not be just us deciding the games." What does she mean? I don't get it. Everyone else looks just as confused as I do.

The room is quiet until Mariko announces,

"We must work together with the Greek demigods to plan the games."

"WHAT?!" The whole table screams outraged. I look around the room, seems like I'm not the only one surprised. Sayanee has a hand over her mouth in shock, and Milky and Yuihan's jaws had fallen. Mayu was wide-eyed, and Yuki was emitting a dark aura. Sae had stood, knocking her chair over in the process, her hands flat on the table, eyes blazing.

The room then erupted into a series of questions and exclamations.

"Who in their right mind would let us 'work' with them Greeks??"

"Yada. I'm not going to get along with them."

"The Greek demigods are awful and unreasonable! They won't listen to anything we say!"

"Why work together with them?! We're supposed to fight each other in the games!"

"They're only going to make sure they have everything their way!"

"I will not stand for this. I am not going to work with those things."

"We HAVE to work TOGETHER with the GREEKS??"

Mariko-sama raises her hands up as a gesture to silence us.

"We don't 'fight' at the games. It's supposed to be a friendly competition between opposing schools. And this year, we cannot decide all this by ourselves. The Greek demigods are to work with us, and so a momentary peace is required between our two campuses if we're going to make this work."

"Peace?! You expect us to make peace with them?!" Sae angrily says.

"We always fight when we meet. We could never get along before, how can we get along now?" Yuki raises her eyebrow.

"Mariko, we don’t want this!" Mayu pouts.

I let out a loud groan. The thought of getting along with them sickens me. Why the Greeks?? Ughhh I don't want to work with them...

Mariko-sama glares at us.

"Do you think I want to do this? I hate those Greeks as much as any of you do. I don't have the power to change what must be done. The decision came from above, if you want to complain, complain to them." She looks pointedly around the room then continues.

"We don't have a choice. Togasaki-san and the Greek headmaster require it. It must be done if we want the games to be held this year."

Ehhhhhhh. I roll my eyes. Just great.

"To avoid as much trouble as possible, each school is going to send 2 demigods as representatives for their campus to a select location in the city to discuss the games. Fair enough?"

...

Everyone mumbles in agreement.

"The question is... who are the two going for us?" Milky inquires.

Good question. Then suddenly,

"I'll go!! Let me go Mariko! Who knows what those Greeks are up to, if they try anything, I'll be sure to put them in their place." Sae eagerly proclaims with a mischievous grin and a fire in her eyes.

"No, Sae. You're only going to provoke a fight with them, and that is the last thing we need." Mariko sternly replies.

"Tch." Sae then stalks towards the wall and slouches against it in silent anger and annoyance.

Hmm. I can see perfectly where Mariko-sama is coming from. Since Sae is the daughter of the Roman god of war, Mars. She will take any opportunity to war with the Greek demigods. It's best if she stays here for the meantime.

"Any more volunteers?" Mariko-sama looks around at the table.

We all look at each other curiously. Who else in their right mind would volunteer to meet up with Greeks? I for one, don't want to go.

After a moment of silence, Mariko-sama speaks again.

"Okayy... since neither of you are willing to go. I'll go. And the other will be..."

Everyone stiffens as she eyes everyone at the table. She smirks at us in amusement then calls out the name.

"... Takamina."

Oh. Joy.

I groan out loud again as everyone else breathes out in relief.

"Do I have to go?" I whine at her.

Mariko-sama gives me a menacing glare, and I immediately shut up. Rule #1 about Mariko-sama. Never make her angry. She is the daughter of one of the Big 3, the god Neptune, ruler of the seas. She has the power to, and will use it, to beat anyone and everyone who goes against her to a pulp, and she NEVER loses.

She then gives me an explanation.

"Takamina, you might by far be the best choice to come with me to discuss the games with the Greeks."

I raise my eyebrow. Is she serious?

She looks at me at sighs.

"You already know why Sae can't go...” She takes a moment to look at Sae who rolls her eyes at her and mumbles "Tch."

"Yuki will put them off. As the daughter of Pluto, the Greek demigods might think something is up and be hostile towards us. Plus, her mood and dark aura doesn't really help us." She nods towards Yukirin.

I turn my head towards her and she's just sitting silently. At the mere mention of her name she emitted a small dark aura that could be felt from around the room, making everyone tense.

"Yukirin! Stop that, everyone's gonna think you're bad or plotting something." Mayu stares at Yuki with concerned eyes. Yuki looks at her, and then after a moment, the aura is gone.

As everyone relaxes, Mariko continues.

"And though you all have been here together for 3 years, Takamina. You are more experienced than Sayanee and Milky. Both in terms of leadership, and skills. Therefore, you are the most qualified to go."

"What about Mayu?" I nod my head towards Mayu.

"Yukirin wouldn't dare let her go near the Greeks without her. So she's staying here."

"Oh. That makes sense. Yuki's so overprotective when it comes to Mayu. Guess it's that weird motherly sense huh?"

"Mmm... or probably something more than that."

Huh? What does she mean?

Mariko claps her hand together and closes the meeting.

"So it's settled! Takamina and I are going to go see the Greek demigods. Any objections? No? Good. Dismissed. Takamina, stay behind for a bit, I need to talk to you."

Great.

Everyone else then goes on their separate ways. Mayu walks out the door quickly followed by Yuki. Sayanee leaves with Milky clinging to her, Yuihan following them. Before stepping out of the room, Sae takes one last glance at Mariko-sama and I. She sticks her tongue out at Mariko-sama. Mariko-sama narrows her eyes at Sae, at which Sae proceeds to quickly leave.

Now it’s just me and Mariko.

Mariko-sama walks over towards a window on one side of the room that overlooks the school courtyard. She then turns to me and speaks.

"Takamina, the meeting will take place at a cafe in one month. Gives us plenty of time to come up with ideas for the games and events. We're also dealing with Greek demigods here so who knows? They really might try something on us. So prepare yourself."

"Oh. Ahm... Is that it?" I shyly ask her. I really hope so.

"Yeah, you can go now." She waves me off as she looks out a window on the far wall.

"Oh. Ok...” I hurry up and leave, and I can't believe that's it. She had me stay after the meeting just to tell me that? Psh, she could've just told me sooner. I walk briskly through the hallways towards the student's quarters. Ugh, what a day so far. The match at the Colosseum was intense, (or well it was more like a game) and then the meeting afterwards? Yeah, this been a long day for me. I need to relax, and then i'll be meeting Acchan. Ahh I can't wait~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Acchan POV (earlier same day)
I wonder what Takamina is doing... I think to myself as I look out the window during class. The teacher is droning on about something having to do with the demigod hero Odysseus. This is the most boring class yet, all we learn about is the histories of famous demigods and heroes of the past. I'm not really interested in the past. I want to know more about what the future holds. And I want to have fun.
My thoughts return to my meeting with Takamina. That was such an unpleasant first meeting, why did we have to meet like that? I was such a mess. Ugh. At least it's forgotten about... I think. I'm pretty sure this time, our 2nd meeting will go a lot smoother. Well hopefully...
Drowning in my thoughts about Takamina and how we will meet later, I fail to notice the 3 demigods sitting at the back of the classroom behind me, speaking in hushed voices about myself.
--- (At the back of the classroom) ---
"Ne ne, NyanNyan. Is there something different about Acchan over there?" NyanNyan then looks over at Acchan.
"Eh? I don’t know... I don't see any difference? Did she do something to her hair?" She narrows her eyes in confusion.
"No! The atmosphere around her is somewhat different. Like she seems more... happy? No wait it's something else... How should I describe this?"
"Ehh how should I know? Yuu-chan I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oi. What are you two going on about?" A third girl buts in.
"Tomochin! Hey! Look over there, at Acchan. What do you see?" Yuko points to Acchan.
"Eh? Eto... Acchan? Ahm... She's looking out the window in a daze it seems... why? Oh wait... I think I know where you're going with this..." Tomochin looks at Yuko who's now grinning at her.
"Hehehe let's confirm our thoughts. I have a feeling I might be right." Yuko winks at Tomochin and leads the small group towards Acchan's desk when the class is dismissed.
--- (Back to Acchan's POV) ---
I feel someone tap on my shoulder as the rest of the class leaves to who knows where. I snap out of my daze and turn around to see Yuko all up in my face.
"What the heck?"
Startled, I lean back. She responds by continuing to lean forward towards me.
"Ano... Why are you grinning at me? You're creeping me out."
I notice behind her are Haruna and Tomochin, and they're also looking at me expectantly. I feel really uncomfortable in this position.
"Ne ne, Acchan." Yuko continues grinning at me eagerly.
"H-hai?"
"You like someone don't you?"
"E-eh??"
"No wait. Let me rephrase that. Ahem. You're in LOVE with someone aren’t you?"
She lets that sink in, and then...
"EHHHH?!? Ie ie ie ie ie... no you're wrong...”
"Oh? Am I?"
I nod my head quickly. Then I wonder, am I in love? I don't think I should even call it that yet... Yet.
"Ehhhh honto ni? Okay fine, if you insist...” Yuko straightens up, arms crossed, and gives me a look.
"What?"
"Then let me ask you this. Did you meet someone?"
"....."
Yuko and Haruna gasp.
"You did didn't you?!"
"Who was it?"
"Is she cute?? Well, assuming it's a she. Is she hot? Does she have a nice body? What about those oppai? Does sh--- ITAI! NyanNyan!"
NyanNyan who just hit Yuko, looks around the room innocently like she hadn't done anything wrong, while Yuko just narrows her eyes at her.
"Hey, I was just curious" she explains.
"Yeah. Right." Haruna mumbles.
As Yuko tries to explain herself to Haruna, Tomochin then moves in front me.
"Just ignore the little lovers quarrel over there. It happens. Anyways, would you mind telling us who this person is? Because it seems to us you're distracted because of this person."
"Distracted. Pshh nooo I'm not distracted, I...” My voice trails off as Tomochin points to my notebook on my desk in front of me. It has Takamina's name written on it. Huh? When did I write it??
"Ooooohhh Takahashi Minami. So it's a girl!" Yuko is now leaning forward from behind me and towards my notebook.
"What's she like?"
Ears open, they all look at me expectantly. Again. Ugh.
"Eto... she's a really nice person. She's funny and cute. She can be sweet and I think a little shy--”
"She doesn't sound interesting." Yuko suddenly lets out a yawn.
Haruna hits Yuko again.
"Yuu-chan! That's not nice to say! Acchan, she sounds like a really lovely person." Haruna smiles at me.
Tomochin adds, "And it seems like you really like this person at least, maybe a crush?" she winks at me. I blush at the thought.
"We're just friends. And I just met her." I stammer.
"Well I think you guys should be more than friends! I may not know too much about her, but she sounds like she'll be someone who can make you happy."
"Un. Acchan, maybe you should think about developing your relationship with her?"
"Yeah! Acchan go for it! You should have someone special in your life~’
I stare at everyone. Why is it that all of sudden they want to be involved in my love life? I'm not even sure about my own feelings towards Takamina. Us? In a relationship? I turn a light shade of red. I admit, it'd be kind of nice...
"Un! I'll see about it you guys" I give them a shy smile, and they look thrilled.
"Yatta! One day then, introduce us ne? Hehe"
"Ok...”
All of sudden, Haruna gasps.
"What??" We all stare at her.
"Ano... I forgot. We're supposed to be meeting up with the others to talk about the upcoming games...” She shyly replies.
"Eh?? I almost forgot too. When??" Yuko asks her.
"Eto... Now."
"EH? Yabai! We're late! Come on guys, follow me!" Yuko then runs out of the room with us in pursuit.
She leads us towards the top of the Institute, and we're led onto the roof. Why the roof you may ask? I have no idea. This does not seem like the ideal place to hold a meeting.
I take in my surroundings and notice a small group of people sitting on the floor near a corner of the roof. I watch as Yuko walks towards them and calls out to someone.
"Oiii! Sayaka! We're here!"
The group turns to look at us. A tall, muscular, exotic looking girl, with long dark brown hair stands up and puts her hands on her hips.
"Oi. Where were you?" She demands.
Yuko rubs her hand behind her head and replies,
"Gomen ne, Sayaka. Lost track of time."
"Well we already started talking about it...”
"Ehhh?? Without us?!"
"Un."
"*sigh* ok then" Yuko then looks at the 3 other girls with Sayaka.
"Oi. What's with them?" She nods her head towards them.
I turn my attention away from Yuko and Sayaka to the 3 girls. They don't look so happy... In fact, they look pretty pissed.
"Yuko. I've got some news." Sayaka says warningly to Yuko. Yuko raises her eyebrow. I look at them in confusion. Tomochin and Haruna lean forward curiously.
"Go on...”
"It's about the planning of the games. You see, we're supposed to plan this... with the Roman demigods... and peacefully."
Silence. Yuko just stares at Sayaka like she said something crazy, and Haruna stiffens at the mention of the roman demigods. Tomochin's mouth is open in disbelief, and I for one find myself curiously excited. Now I know why those girls over there looked so pissed.
All of a sudden, Yuko busts down laughing. We all stare at her. After a minute, her laughter dies down, and she wipes a tear and speaks.
"Ahh~ that was a good laugh. You're joking right?" Yuko gives Sayaka an unsure smile, in which Sayaka's face remains stoic.
One of the 3 girls suddenly gets up.
"This is not a joke! Does she look like she’s joking?? Look at our faces. Do any of us look like we're laughing?? We have to work with those shitty people!”
"Jurina! Calm down... just sit down. Please..." One of the other girls, had tugged on the hem of Jurina's shirt and was looking at her with concerned eyes.
"Rena-chan..." Jurina mumbles and then takes another look at Yuko and sits. Anger and resentment still seen in her eyes. It doesn't look like it's for Yuko though.
Yuko doesn't say anything and just stares at the ground.
Sayaka sighs and then looks at the rest of us.
"You guys, look. It's obvious that we all hate the Romans and don't want to work with them, let alone get anywhere near them. Well we didn't ask for this, none of us did. But if the games are going to work out this year then we're going to have to deal with it. Understand?" She looks around at all of us, and everyone reluctantly nods.
"Okay good. Now, before I mention something pertaining to the games, I want to make sure we all know each other. Yuko, is she the new girl you've been talking about?" She gestures to me.
"Oh! Yes, she is. Acchan, introduce yourself."
"H-hai. Maeda Atsuko desu. You all can call me Acchan though." I bow my head a little towards Sayaka and the other girls.
Sayaka nods her head.
"As you might already know, I'm Akimoto Sayaka. Also, daughter of Ares, and Yuko's room-mate."
The 3 girls sitting on the ground get up and introduce themselves. Having cooled down a bit, Jurina tries to be more cheery and goes first.
"Hi! Matsui Jurina desu. Just like Yuko, I am a daughter of the goddess Athena." She grins at me. Wait a second. What.
"Wait, Yuko's the daughter of Athena?!" I whirl around to face the subject of my surprise.
Yuko looks at me and shrugs her shoulders.
"Eto... I didn't tell you?"
I shake my head.
"Oh. Huh... I really thought I did. Whoops. Guess I didn't. Hehe." She winks at me.
Ehh. So Yuko is Athena's daughter... I wouldn't have guessed. I don't think I should mess with her. Or Jurina for that matter. Children of the goddess of war and battle strategy. Shouldn't trifle with them. I turn my attention back to the other demigods. One steps forward.
"Hello, I'm Matsui Rena." Eh? Matsui? Is she and Jurina related? Before I can ask, she continues.
"And no, Jurina and I are not related. We don't have the same parents. I am the daughter of the Olympian god Apollo." Ohhh okay. She takes a step back as the last girl introduces herself.
"Hi Acchan, I'm Kasai Tomomi, but you can call me Tomo." She smiles at me. Ooh well she seems nice. They all do actually.
Sakaya then steps in.
"Alright, everyone already knows everyone else. So then good. Now we all know each other." Was there a point to this? Apparently not, it's only for the sake of introductions.
Sayaka clasps her hands to together.
"I wanted to tell you guys we're going to draw sticks."
Eh?
"What? Why, what for?" Haruna asks her. Yeah, why? This is kind of random.
"Ano... we have send 2 reps to a select location in the city to meet up with the Roman demigods."
"EHH?!" The whole group sounds.
"Yeah, again, not my decision, so everyone take a stick." She holds out a bunch of sticks that came out of nowhere.
Everyone starts to grab at the sticks hesitantly. When we all look at our sticks, and we all find that Yuko and I got the shortest ones.
"That's it! Yuko and Acchan are going!" Sayaka announces.
Yuko groans out in frustration and starts complaining how the sticks were rigged. She went on about how she got the shortest stick because she's the shortest. What kind of logic is that?
Tomo walks up to us.
"Hey, you guys. Your meet with the Romans will be held in a month, so be prepared." She warns us.
"How do you know?"
"I was told? Duh. Sayaka's not the only one who knows things around here." Oh. That's why.
"Don't forget." She reminds us as she leaves the roof with Tomochin. Huh. I didn't know they're close. I wonder what their relationship is.
The others then begin leaving as they felt that the meeting is over. It wasn't even much of a meeting to begin with. But then again, half of us weren't even here and was late. So we missed a lot and didn't talk much.
I see Jurina and Rena leave the roof hand in hand. Aww that's cute, they're so close. Sayaka also then takes her leave too, leaving me, Yuko, and Haruna alone.
Once they're out of sight. Yuko proceeds to groan out her frustrations once more about her having to meet up with the Roman demigods.
"Arghhhhhhjbdiqjsbxoxownq why do I have to go??" She starts pacing around in a circle.
"Well why not?" I ask her.
She stops and stares at me like I'm crazy. I continue.
"I mean, well, are they really that bad? I'm really curious, I want to meet a Roman demigod." I smile shyly.
She continues to stare at me as I was of another world. Then gives me a look of disgust.
"Acchan. Let me tell you something...” She walks over to me then puts an arm over my shoulder.
"These people... The Romans, should not be taken lightly. They are barbaric, harsh, and cruel. It always seems like they're planning something awful for us."
"Ano... Is that true? Have you met one before?”
“… no… but I’ve heard many awful stories about them! I know of Greek demigods who have come into contact with the Romans and it never has ended well so trust me! I’ve got good sources. The Romans aren’t like us.”
I’m not convinced.
“What if you're wrong about them?"
"And what if I'm right! Acchan. Trust me. Again, those good for nothing Roman demigods are not like us. We've been fighting each other for generations. Just like they say, always have always will. Things never will go smoothly when we're around each other."
"Ehhh... sou desu ka?" I mumble.
"Un. When we go meet the Romans, be weary. And we're definitely not going there to make friends. It's only for a serious discussion regarding the games. That's it. Heed my words. Don't ever befriend one. Because Romans demigods can never be trusted." She stares into my eyes as she says the last few sentences, then starts to walk away.
"Come on Haruna, ikou." She exits the roof.
Haruna glances at me and gives me a sad smile, her eyes distant. She then turns away and follows Yuko.
Now it's just me on the roof. I think about what Yuko had just told me, and I can't help but doubt her. Roman demigods are just people too aren’t they? Why are they made out to be so horrible? Everyone here seems to hate them, I just don't understand.
Shaking my thoughts away, I exit the roof of the Institute, reminding myself that I'm going to go meet Takamina.
(Later, in the city)
I'm running through the city, hoping that I'm not late. I walk around on the street in which we parted ways the previous day. Where is she? I can't seem to find her... oh wait. Found her. I had spotted her a little ways away from me standing under a tree. I could tell it was her since she was so small. She was wearing a cute white skirt with a banana parka, and a red bow on her head. Haha kawaii~ Leaning against the tree, head down, she was shifting her feet around impatiently, waiting for me.
I hurry over and call out to her.
"Takamina! Sorry to make you wait."
She looks up and smiles widely at me then shakes her head.
"No no, I wasn't waiting long. I just got here." She's a terrible liar, but I thought it was sweet. She then continues.
“Shall we go?” She offers me her hand. I smile at her, placing my hand in hers, we start walking together. Smiling, and laughing happily, we enjoy each other’s company.
Takamina POV
I've been meeting with Acchan for about a month now and we've gotten so close within this short time span. Sometimes, it feels like I've known her for so much longer, even though I haven't. It's amazing how much we've bonded. And I have to admit, I've come to the realization that I have feelings for her, growing stronger and stronger every time we meet. I didn't know what it was at first with her, I just liked her, and before I knew it, I was already in too deep. I fell in love with the beautiful girl named Maeda Atsuko.
I want to tell her, make my feelings known, confess. But I feel it is too soon to tell her... we haven't even known one another long. And what if she doesn’t feel the same way? I don’t want to get rejected.
She laughs at my jokes though, that lifts my spirits... unless, she's laughing at me. I don't know how to feel about that. Ugh, I don't know what to do!
I groan out in frustration as I pick at my food in front of me. I'm sitting at a table in our academy's dining area. Someone then taps me on shoulder from behind. I turn around to find Miichan, Yuihan, Paruru, and Mariko standing there looking at me curiously.
"Ne, Takamina, what's got you all frustrated?" Miichan asks.
Mariko adds, "You can tell us while we sit here." Without waiting for a response, they all proceed to sit at the table with me. Okayy.
I sigh. Might as well tell them, I kind of need advice. Before I can speak, Miichan holds up her hand.
"Wait, Takamina. You're having love problems aren’t you?"
"Eh?! How'd you know?"
Miichan: "Well it's kind of obvious you know since lately, you've looked distracted and dazed."
Yui: "You've also been sighing a lot."
Paruru: "And you've been scolding us less.”
They all nod thoughtfully.
Ugh. These girls. They pay too much attention of me.
Mariko shakes her head at me, and as if reading my mind she speaks.
"You're just making it way too obvious. Takamina, you're not really a closed book."
Are my feelings really that obvious? Has Acchan noticed?? No no... it can’t be. I don't think I'm that obvious around Acchan. I feel worried.
Mariko continues. "So tell us, what's going on?" She leans forward on the table.
Hesitantly, I answer. "T-There’s this girl I really like and... I'm afraid of rejection...”
"Awww our cute little leader is afraid of rejection." Miichan mocks me in a baby voice, and I glare at her. She gets flicked in the head by Mariko-sama.
Mariko: “Don’t mind her. Takamina, if you really like this girl, then don’t be afraid to tell her your feelings.”
“Yeah but like, what if she’s disgusted by me after I tell her and then comes to hate me and then never talks to me again and then never meets me again and then eventually forgets all about me?! I start hyperventilating.
“Whoa calm down Takamina, no need to be all negative.” Mariko-sama puts a hand on my shoulder.
“Yeah, think more positive. I’m sure she won’t reject you, in fact, she might just like you back.” Miichan reassures me.
“How can you be so sure?”
“Just don’t worry about it. She does. ‘Cause I mean, who wouldn’t fall for the great Takahashi Minami’s charm?” They all start laughing as I narrow my eyes at them.
“Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Trust us Takamina, we’re not making fun of you.” Miichan stifles a laugh. They were so making fun of me. I just don’t get how.
I decide to just wave them off. “So? What should I do you guys?”
“Ask her out on a date!” Miichan exclaims excitedly.
“A date?! We’re not even dating??”
“Just because you guys aren’t dating, doesn’t mean you can’t go out on a date. But if you insist, then don’t call it that. Just ask her out somewhere and then tell her how you feel there. And like, you know, make it somewhat special.”
“Special huh… I’ll think about it. Where should I take her out though??”
Miichan: “Dinner!”
Paruru: “Movies?”
Yuihan: “A concert”
Mariko: “I don’t think a concert is a good place for a confession, and those other two are too typical for a date, what about an amusement park?”
“That’s no different! People always goes on dates there!”
Miichan: “Yeeaaahh but a lot of friends go too, and it’s more fun than all those other places, Mariko-sama might have just made a good suggestion. So what do you say Takamina??”
“An amusement park eh… well you guys do have a point. It easier to come up with something romantic there anyways so yeah, okay I’ll invite her out there.”
“Yatta!” They all cheer happily for me, encouraging me to go out there and get whom will later become the love of my life.
Thanking them, I look at the time and realize it’s almost time to meet Acchan. Great! I can go ask her today, I hope she’ll go with me~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Acchan POV (late at night)

Asjdfroihenvakmwjflkya! I squeal into my pillow as I flop down into my bed. Takamina asked me out to the amusement park! Ohmygosh she was so adorable when she asked me ahhh~

*Flashback*

Takamina and I were walking side by side in the usual park talking and laughing. All of a sudden I felt a tug on the hem of my shirt. I turned my head and noticed Takamina had stopped a bit behind me. She was holding my shirt and her head was down, face, clearly red. Concerned, I asked her the obvious.

“Takamina, is something wrong?”

She shook her head briskly and mumbled that she kind of wanted to ask me something. She looked so nervous and she kept fidgeting. Kawaii!

“Nee, Takamina, what is it?”

“Eto.. if you don’t mind that is… will you…”

“Sorry I didn’t catch that, could you say that louder?”

“*cough* I said, will you go to the amusement park with me?” She lifted her head and gave me shy smile while rubbing the back of her head with her hand.

Wait. Did Takamina just asked me out on a date? A DATE? OMG I can’t believe what I just heard, she asked me out! Oh yeah I should answer her.

Quickly clearing my thoughts, I decided to tease the expectant, anxious Takamina.

“Are you asking me out on a date?” Takamina turned red, startled by the sudden question.

“Eto… ….” She started mumbling a string of incoherent words.

I laughed. She’s so cute when she’s flustered. Noticing that I’m laughing at her, she pouts at me. Awwh I’ll just give a straight answer.

“Sure, I’d love to the amusement park with you.” I smile.

Her face immediately lit up to one of pure relief and happiness. She pumped her fist in the air and yelled “Yatta!” Kawaii~ Can she not get any cuter?

Eagerly, she asked me if tomorrow afternoon was good, and I nodded my head yes.

She smiled at me and then said she had to go, in which I replied, “Ah. Ok then, matashita. Can’t wait for our date.” I winked at her. Blushing again for the nth time that day, she takes her leave and I head back to Institute.

*Flashback ends*

Ahhh~ I can’t wait~ gosh I’m so impatient. Tomorrow huh? I wonder what I should wear? I think to myself sit up on my bed. I get up and rummage through my wardrobe. After a good 3 hours, I sit on the floor exasperated.

“Ugh! There’s nothing to wear!” I whine to myself.

As I sulk, Haruna walks in and freezes. She takes in her surrounding with a look of horror on her face. As she looks around our room, I follow her gaze and turn to see our room. I gasp. Tons of clothes are scattered throughout the whole room. Blouses and dresses in piles all over the floor, skirts and jeans strung onto the bed and thrown onto a nearby dresser, a mound of shoes by the door. The room is a total mess. I’ve been here for the past few hours, when did any of this happen?

“What. Happened?” Haruna slowly turns to me, mouth agape.

“I have a date tomorrow with Takamina and I don’t know what to wear!” I cry.

Haruna just stares at me. After a solid 10 minutes of me sitting in awkward silence, Haruna tosses me a key. I look at her questioningly.

“The key to my closet.” She explains. “You can borrow whatever is necessary for your date.”

“REALLY???” Gods is this happening? A daughter of Aphrodite is letting me borrow her clothes! Their clothes are freaking GORGEOUS. I jump up and hug Haruna, thanking her a thousand times, and then I run over to her locked closet.

“ON ONE CONDITION” She says. I freeze, and wait for her to continue.

“1. Clean up this mess you made, I’m not sleeping in a dirty room. And 2. Don’t you dare mess up my closet or I will kill you.” She stares me down. Yeah, ok. Will do.

“Got it. Clean mess. Don’t make another. Crystal Clear.” I look at her pleadingly.

After a moment, “Go.” Then she leaves our room, and I immediately go immerse myself into the all the wonderful beauties of Haruna’s closet.

~~~
Much later, I’m laying on my bed again. I finally was able to find the perfect outfit, and clean up the mess I had made. Gods, I’m pooped. Tomorrow… date with Takamina. Oh yeah, and the meeting with the Romans is also tomorrow huh… I almost forgot. Oooh interesting. Tomorrow’s gonna be fun. Thinking of what awaits me the next day, I slowly drift off to sleep.
OMFG!!!~
THIS IS SOOO GOOD!!!  :on gay:
I knew Minami would be the daughter of The King of Gods, but aren't Roman Gods and Greek Gods the same? Only the name is different, cuz Jupiter is basically Zeus anyway... or am I wrong?
I also knew that the moment Minami was selected to go to the meeting, Atsuko would also be the representative to go too. Though I didn't expect Atsuko's side to draw sticks LOL
I wonder how they would feel after the Date and Meeting or is it Meeting then Date? After finding out that they are from opposite school, would they still love each other? or would Minami start hating Atsuko? since Minami is a 3rd year while Atsuko is a 1st year? Hope not  :prayers:
OMG I can't wait for your next update, please update soon  :shifty:
Aw aw aw.. sounds like a dog... w kidding aside..
This is outstanding!!!! I'm a huge fan! I am so entertained by this the fact that I'm also into Greek and Roman Mythology. It's awesome! And I'm thinking that no-one's gonna get bored on this.  :yep:
I'm a huge atsumina shipper and it seemed like it is also your no. 1 pair? Correct me if I'm wrong. I can't stop giggling at the thought that our atsumina's on different side. And you hang us all at the latest chapter. I wonder what would be their reaction!!! AHHH I CAN'T WAIT!!!  :cry: :cry:
But anyways I'm so happy to read your creations including (The 3 Classes), very imaginative!
AND TO MAKE THIS COMMENT LONGER.. lol (I'm sorry, just excited to show you how much I love your work), I've read in one of your end notes that you really enjoy writing stories you even encouraged everyone to write to feel how good you felt about it. It's really nice. I'm moved coz I feel the same. lol I'm a very frustrated writer :cry:  :lol:
I'm inspired! And hopefully you'll never get tired from writing..
(oh this has become too long.. orz) :banghead:
Without further ado, Douzo!
==========
Acchan POV
“So tell me again why we’re going to a café to meet them?”
“I told you! It’s a public place, which means there will be a lot of mortals. So there will be a less likely chance the Romans will have any opportunity to pull one over on us.” Yuko explains.
“Oh yeah, okay.”
It's late morning and Yuko and I are walking in the city towards our destination. The meeting with the Roman demigods in a café. I feel so excited, my first time meeting Roman demigods, I wish I could befriend one. I wonder what they think of us… do they look at us with the same eyes that Yuko and the others do with them? What is it… resentment? Honestly, they’re all being so immature. Like seriously, we’re all pretty much the same here! Greek demigod, Roman demigod, what’s the difference? We’re still demigods. This is ridiculous.
“Ne, Yuko?”
“Hmm?”
“Why exactly does everyone hate the Romans? Don’t get mad at me, I know I’ve asked before, or well, what I mean to ask is… how exactly did this all start? This… this hostility the Greeks have for them?”
She sighs. “It’s not something I can explain very well to be honest. It’s just been this way for a long time.”
“Can I get a better and more detailed explanation?”
“I told you! I can’t explain it very well!” She sticks her tongue out at me. She then furrows her eyebrows as if she’s trying to think of something.
“Uhm... Think of it like this. Once upon a time, the two different demigod races lived in peace as one. Greeks and Romans, no one cared about the ancestry of the other. We could all go to school together, we could all be friends, build relationships, and just live in harmony. But then everything changed when the fire nation attacked.” She pauses for effect. I roll my eyes at her. Baka.
“Just kidding.” She winks at me. “Everything changed after the war.”
“The war?”
“Un.” She doesn’t continue.
“Uhh… Is that it? What happened?”
“Oh look we’re here!” She points to the café in front of us. Oh.
“But what about what happened?”
“Maybe later, or ask someone else, like NyanNyan. She might know. Come on now, hurry up!” She gestures for me to hurry up inside. I step inside the café and she follows suit.
Looking around, I find it to be one of those medium sized cafes. There’s not too much décor, there’s several tables, and some few booths. It’s very simplistic. There also happens to be not too many people here so that might be good. It’ll be easier to find the Roman demigods this way, and speaking of the Roman demigods… I scan the area trying to figure out where they are. Well, assuming that they’re already here that is.
I feel a tap on my shoulder. Turning my head to look at Yuko, she nods her head towards a booth over in the corner by the window. Looking at the booth, I see two figures sitting on one side, their backs facing us.
“Ano… Is that them?”
“Un.”
“Are you sure?”
“Nope. Just a gut feeling.”
“Seriously Yuko!” I groan.
“Okay! I’m not positive but I’m pretty sure that’s them.”
I just look at her.
“What? I’m serious. Their aura just screams out to me ‘ROMAN’! I mean, look at them! Just by looking at their backs, they look like they’re here for business. Not to mention, they’re both obviously girls. And do you see any other pairs of girls in here?”
I look around. I mostly see single guys, and then girls in bunches of 3 or more. So sure, she could be right. I shrug at her, and then she leads me towards the table.
“Be on your guard.” Yuko warns me.
“Hai hai~”
As we near the booth, I’m able to see the Romans more clearly. One appears to be tall with short hair, the other short with longer hair. Huh. Wait a sec… that’s weird. One of them look familiar to me… I’ve seen the back of that person before… haven’t I? Where?... Or more importantly, who?
Shaking my head, I dismiss these thoughts as Yuko calls out to them.
“Oi! Romans!” Yuko calls out in a rather harsh tone. Shouldn’t she be more calm and collective? We’re supposed to be having a serious discussion, like she said before. Not provoke a fight. Ughh.
The Roman demigods turn around. Gasps sound from both parties. One from me, and the other… is from none other than Takamina.
I blink. Takamina? That’s Takamina… right? Wait, what?? We’re both staring at each other mouths agape. She looks just as dumb-founded and confused as I do. What the heck is going on?? Is Takamina really a Roman demigod?? Why didn’t she tell me!
So apparently, Yuko and the tall girl didn’t notice our gasps and looks of shock as a growing tension rises between the two. Wonderful.
“Oi, midget. I did not appreciate that tone of yours when you addressed us. Show some respect.”
“Respect?! When you just insulted me?? Heck no you walking stick!” I sigh inwardly.
“A walking stick!? I don’t see the comparison! You will not refer to me as that, you will refer to me as Shinoda-sama.”
“’Sama’?! The fu**? Why in Zeus’ name would I do that?? You’re not above me!”
“On the contrary, I’ll have you know, I am a daughter of the God, Neptune. Equivalent to your Greek Poseidon, one of the Big Three. So I can whoop your sorry self into the underworld.” Apparently, Yuko isn’t fazed by her threat.
“I knew there was something about you I didn’t like! Our parents hate each other. Hah. What a coincidence ‘cause I hate you too!” Oh boy I should stop this before it gets out of hand.
Putting my hands on Yuko’s shoulders, I attempt to move her over to our seats across from the Roman demigods.
“Okay Yuko… we’re not here to fight, remember? Behave yourself…” She doesn’t object, and takes her seat across from Shinoda-san while glaring at her. And then I move beside Yuko and take the seat across from Takamina.
Silence. There’s so much tension in the air, I can feel it… Talk about awkward…
I look at Takamina. She has her head down and she’s not looking at me. Why? I wonder what she’s thinking… Hm. Now that I think about it, this entire circumstance is so coincidental. Takamina is actually a demigod, and what’s more is that she’s Roman and we ended up meeting today like this… what are the odds?? The Fates must’ve set us up, I so wasn’t expecting this. I sigh.
Takamina… she isn’t at all what Yuko described. She’s different. I just know it. Yuko was wrong. Not all Romans are that harsh. I’m sure of it. They can be just like us, and we can be friends. It’s not impossible. I want to tell Yuko, but something tells me that now is not a good time for that...
Suddenly, I come to the realization of something. Shit! Yuko knows that I like a girl named Takahashi Minami, and if she finds out that she’s actually right in front of us… Yabai. I’m afraid of how she’ll react. I really need to talk to Takamina… not just because of this situation, but also because, I need answers. What does she think of me now? Will our relationship be okay?
~~~~~~~~~~

Takamina POV

That is not Acchan right in front of me. Acchan is not in front of me. Acchan is not here. Acchan isn’t a Greek demigod…  No no no no no this can’t be happening, gods is this really happening??? I stare at my lap. Out of all the people in the world I could fall for, I fall for a Greek demigod?? Nooooo why… why Acchan can’t you be mortal? Wahh. This is really bad.

“Oi. Takamina.” Mariko-sama snaps her fingers in front me making me momentarily forget my thoughts.

“E-eh? What?”

“What do you mean ‘what’? Let’s just get this done and over with already.”

“Ah. Okay…”

Mariko-sama, Acchan, and that girl who Acchan called “Yuko” begin discussing the games. I give my input every now and then, but I just can’t focus too much on this. I have a lot on my mind, and I keep avoiding Acchan’s eyes. Ugh. What am I doing? Can’t I act normal? As I’m listening to them talk, I find myself slowly zoning out, and I begin to think about it again.

Acchan… is a Greek demigod. I have to accept that okay… she’s the enemy. Greeks are our enemies, our rivals… our enemy… Acchan is… my enemy… yeah…

I blink.

NO! I mentally slap myself. NO NO NO OK JUST NO. Acchan isn’t my enemy! What in Jupiter’s name am I thinking?! I need to be reasonable. She’s different. She’s not like those other Greeks, like her rude friend right there. Acchan isn’t like that, she’s nice, and we’re friends… and… we can’t be more than that. Us… is impossible. It just can’t be.

Ughhhhhhh why can’t I be with Acchan~?? I whine in my head. Thinking like this is so depressing! I want to hit my head against something, this is so infuriating! Why?? Do the gods hate us?? Argh. Gods I have a headache now.

I stand up. “Excuse me, I’m going to the restroom. You guys carry on.” I say as I leave the table.
Walking towards the restroom, I can’t help but feel a pair of eyes staring at my back. I have a bad feeling.

~~~~~~~~~~
Acchan POV
Now’s my chance! I think to myself as I watch Takamina’s small figure retreat into the restroom. I could go talk to her!
Right before I stand up to go after her, I pause with the realization of something really important. I can’t leave Yuko here all alone with Shinoda-san! Something bad would happen, I’m sure of it! They’ll be fighting each other before the War Games even begin! No I can’t let that happen… But I really need to talk to Takamina… I turn my head towards Yuko and she looks at me.
“What?” She asks.
“I need to go use the restroom, can you please PLEASE not fight Shinoda-san while I’m gone??”
“EH? You got to go too?? You’re leaving me here with HER? And ALONE??”
“Yes yes I know. Stupid of me isn’t it? Who knows what problems you’ll cause… But I really have to go. So just promise me, you will NOT fight Shinoda-san, and you will at least try to discuss the Games properly. We’re not through here yet.”
“B-but—”
“Pleeaasseeeee, onegai Yuko!” I look at her pleadingly.
“Ehhhh fine…” She grumbles.
“Thanks! I’m counting on you!” I stand up from the table, and turn to Shinoda-san.
“Shinoda-san, please excuse me, I also need to go to the restroom.”
“Oh? You’re trusting your friend alone here with me?” She arches her eyebrow up.
“Yes. And can I trust you not to provoke her?”
She looks at me thoughtfully. Then after a moment, “Hm. Sure, as long as she doesn’t provoke me first.”
I sigh. Good enough. I nod my head and leave the two to talk. Hopefully, I didn’t just make a huge mistake leaving them alone together.
~~~

Walking into the restroom, I see Takamina, her hands are on the counter by the sink and she’s looking into the mirror.

“Takamina!’ I call out to her.

She sees me through the mirror and panic crosses her face. Uh oh. That’s not reassuring.

She quickly looks down, and attempts to hurry past me, avoiding my eyes.

“Oh no you don’t!” I grab her shoulder and push her away from the exit.

“Why are you avoiding me all of a sudden??”

She still doesn’t look at me. What the heck Takamina, why is she being so cold??

“Is it because we’re different demigods? That’s why, isn’t it??”

I see her purse her lips, then she tries to leave again, trying to push past me this time. Are you kidding me??

I grab her and shove her against the wall.

“What the heck Takamina, answer me! Stop acting like this, this isn’t like you!”

Takamina snaps.

“This isn’t like me?? How would you know what I’m like?! You never knew I was a demigod, let alone Roman. Did you think for one second you really did know the real me? If so then tell me Acchan, tell me, what am I like?!”

I’m taken aback. I never thought Takamina would snap at me like that. I don’t like this. My heart hurts, but I have to answer her.

“You’re…” I pause. What if I really didn’t know Takamina? But all those times we spent together, it all had to be real. I do know her, but that doesn’t mean I know everything about her.

“You are still the Takamina I’ve always known. You’re shy, kind, a bit clumsy, funny, loud, sweet, a great friend…”

She frowns at me. “That was before…”

“Before what? Before you found out I was a Greek demigod?? Takamina, open your eyes! We’re no different from each other!”

No answer. I question her further.

“How come you never told me you were a demigod?”

“Same reason you never told me. It was unnecessary and we didn’t think the other was one too. Am I right?”

I nod my head. Ah. A thought just occurred to me.

“Takamina… are we still going to the amusement park later?”

“E-eto…” I see uncertainty in her eyes. No! She has to go! Don’t tell me she won’t go anymore just because of this stupid thing! I stare at her pleadingly.

She sighs. “Acchan…” she says in a soft voice. “You should know already; I’m a Roman and you’re a Greek, we shouldn’t even be hanging out with each other…” Wha-what? Tears start forming in my eyes.

“Because of that? After all the time that we’ve spent together already? …Are you saying that we shouldn’t meet up anymore?” With every word I say, I feel my heart becoming more and more broken. I hate asking her this when I already know the answer. Though I see a pained expression, her face says it all. There’s something I need to know though…

“Do you regret spending time with me?”

Takamina’s eyes widen at my sudden question as she’s taken aback.

“I-I..” She struggles to form the right words but nothing comes out. I guess that’s all I need to hear.

I let go of Takamina, and straighten myself up. As I’m about to walk out, I pause for a moment. I can’t do this… I can’t give up on Takamina. I need to be hopeful. Without looking back, I tell Takamina,
“I’m still going to the amusement park later… even if you don’t show up, I will wait for you.”

With that, I leave, and the restroom door shuts behind me.

~~~~~~~~~~
Takamina POV
The door shuts, and I slump to the floor, my back against the wall. My mind feels blank, I don’t know what to do…
Everything that Acchan said… although she may be right about us Romans and Greeks… but still, I just can’t. I can’t…
Ah. Realizing I’m taking too long in the restroom, I hurry to compose myself and leave, walking back towards the group. Nearing the table, I find Mariko-sama and Yuko arguing loudly, pretty much at each other’s throats, and then there’s Acchan struggling to calm them down. Great. This is what we get for leaving them alone together.
Casually walking up to the angry pair, I manage to pull them apart.
“Let’s settle this dispute shall we? We have more important things to discuss, so out with it. What happened?”
"Well we were discussing the games properly like you said to do right?..."
And then from there the two explained to me two very different views of what had happened, so technically I have no idea who should I believe more because both sound equally absurd. Something about a cat. I was able to get Mariko-sama to just forget the whole thing because it was just so trivial. And Acchan got Yuko to calm down too so now we're back to where we were before.
...
Finally! After about a good two hours, and much debate and discussion… or well more like arguing and more arguing; we’ve come to an agreement over the events that will take place in the Games.
Acchan and Yuko decide to take their leave first. Watching the two make their way to the exit, I see Acchan take one final glance at me. We make eye contact before she looks away and walks out of the café, and out of sight.
“Those Greeks are nothing but trouble. Especially that girl, Yuko. At least we had no problems with her friend.” Mariko-sama says as she writes a few things down on a notepad regarding the Games. I can only nod my head in response, as I still look longingly towards the door from which Acchan left.
I tear my eyes away from the door and slouch in my seat, staring blankly at the table. Mariko-sama finishes writing in her notepad and looks at me.
“What’s on your mind?”
“A lot.”
“Care to share?”
“…”
She studies me a moment, before standing up from the table.
“Come on, let’s head back now. We’re done here.”
“You go ahead… I’ll get a drink and then catch up with you.”
“Alright then, don't take too long.” She leaves the café, and now I’m alone.
Sitting by myself, Acchan words ring in my ears.
“Takamina open your eyes! We’re no different from each other!… After all the time that we’ve spent together already?...  Are you saying that we shouldn’t meet up anymore?… Do you regret spending time with me?”
Ughhhhh why did I have to go and say those things?? I upset her and made her cry! She probably hates me now! She probably thinks I hate her now! NOOOOOOOO!
I lay my head on the table and whine to myself. Acchan…
“…even if you don’t show up, I will wait for you”
Ah. She said she’ll wait for me… I have hope but, what am I going to do?
I think back to my own principles and wonder about them. Since I was young, I’ve always been taught that the Greeks are not people of whom we should get close to. I’ve been taught that they’re different from us, that Romans and Greeks can’t be friends. We’re supposed to hate each other, or at least, strongly dislike one another. It’s been this way for years, and we always fight… but, Acchan’s a Greek demigod, and I never fought with her…well, maybe not physically but still… we don’t really fight and, I don’t hate her…
…I’m an idiot. Bakamina. I love Acchan. And I had to go say those things about us not hanging out with each other… Ugh. What am I thinking?? My heart is telling me to go meet Acchan, but my mind is telling me otherwise. A relationship between different demigods is not wise, nor encouraged, since we all hate each other pretty much. Why do things have to be this way?
I look up at the ceiling and sigh in frustration. Gods what do I do? I stare at the ceiling for a couple minutes then close my eyes. I see Acchan's face. She's smiling that brilliant smile of hers, and looking deep into my eyes. After a moment the image disappears and is replaced by the Academy. I see the many faces of my fellow Roman demigods and friends. I see the statues of various Roman Gods and my godly parent, Jupiter. I see the wall of our ancestors, carved into the marble of our Academy's halls, portraying our history, or what mortals refer to as "mythology".
I open my eyes, a new spark is formed within them. I get out of my seat and head towards the exit. Moving through the open door, I take a step forward.
