Check this out
it's about 17mb
It's an image resizing tool which instead of compressing or stretching the pixels and then blending them. It looks through the image for it's energy patterns and then by using algorithms takes out sections of the image that aren't really needed but keeping the original size of the key objects.
While this sounds kind of impossible and you'd think it would give poor results it's infact the most impressive thing I've seen in ages.
Really worth a look

Sounds interesting. A pity it's downloading at 2k/sec.

Just watched it (got a bit better download speed then Dan
This sounds like a combination of fractal compression and some other technices used to 'stitch' picture together.
It does distort the end-result compare to the origional, but its not fully 'automatic' for example with the bears they edited the pups closer to the mother!

Pretty amazing. It's interesting how easily images can be distorted. Really can't trust pictures any more.

I recently heard about this liquid rescaler when a plugin for The GIMP came out. You can get the plugin at
http://liquidrescale.wikidot.com/
if you're interested. It looks interesting, but I had trouble getting it to do what I wanted. Of course, I'm not big on image editing, so that may have had something to do with it.
