A cafeteria worker at an elementary school in northwest Indiana thought it was odd that a 4th grader was paying for lunch with a $20.

According to our news partner, the Post-Tribune, the fourth grader from Gary tried to pay for his food at the school cafeteria with a $20 bill. The money looked real enough, but since kids don’t normally flash such a large wad around school, the cashier turned it in.

Turns out, that's not the only thing that was odd .The cash was counterfeit.

They are charging 10 yo with crimes but they can't release their names...that's bull.

Nevermind all the new, high-tech security features that are supposed to help people spot counterfiet bills...she just got suspicious because the kids don't "usually" spend that much? My 8-year old nephew is given $20s all the time, and he's still treated pretty normally.

Yeah, it's not uncommon. "Here's a twenty, go out and entertain yourself for a couple hours while I entertain your mother."
