A botched surgery in which a Hilo doctor allegedly used a sawed-off screwdriver shaft instead of a titanium rod to brace a man's spine is the subject of a malpractice trial in Circuit Court here.

thought it was going be an article where a surgeon saves someone's life or something by improvising with a screwdriver during surgery

Thats just crazy and stupid. Its the operating team's fault for not checking if they had everything at the start, (but please do spare the anesthesiologist)
